SNAP. The saplings on either side of the game trail gave way, smashing into the ground and stirring up a cloud of dust. Oddmund, caught in the center of the mess, swore loudly as he struggled to free himself from the vines he's had wrapped around them.

"You gone and chased all de critters away now," Davke drawled, stretching out across the rocks. She'd been exhausted, as she often was lately chasing after their brood, but that hadn't stopped her from making the trek out to the edge of the pride's lands to watch her mate's valiant and often disastrous innovations. It was endearing, and he frequently needed her help tending a wound or baiting a trap.

"They'll be back," he argued, gnawing on a stubborn root that had bundled itself around his wrist, "I covered from stream to den in bits and berries, can't resist it." He spit the bitter mess out, glancing back at her with a smile, "I'm irresistible."

The lioness rolled her eyes, turning her attentions back toward the clearing where they'd made a slightly safer space for the cubs. "Away from that nonsense, you hear me? Don' go an get yerselves tied up like your fool father."

Beitar quickly stuck his tongue back at their mother, though he hoped his gesture would escape her notice. They were Stormborn, these were their lands. Nothing dangerous would happen to them here. Which meant nothing interesting either. He liked following Oddmund out, at least he'd get to see him hunt once in a while. He liked the pouncing and grabbing. He'd tried it on fish in the stream once but all he'd gotten for his effort was a face full of sand. When he was bigger he'd catch them for sure.

User ImageMoos, or more fondly referred to as Moose, was watching her Father with the attention span expected of a cub. The sounds alerted her and brought her golden eyes towards the scene, but beyond that she followed suit with her brother, Beitar and promptly stuck a glistening tongue out at her Mother, followed by an unbecoming snort that wrinkled her nose.

"I'll do wha' I want.." Was her defiant little response to her Mothers remark, it was said on the quiet side due to fear of earning herself a good smack - not that she wouldn't have earned it. "Didn't want to help Da anyway." With a quick swish of her tail she turned her back on her parents to seek out entertainment of some kind, particularly to get some pouncing in. Moments after her patience was rewarded with an ugly beetle that happened to be dawdling in the wrong space, at the wrong time.

Soon he became her victim as she began to pounce after it, purposely narrowly missing as best she could to prolong the game.

He could definately be described as a day dreamer, or perhaps even a dope, an idiot in some ways and yet when he saw his father doing something, inventive, it caught his interest. He had been watching his dad with a keen eye and when their mother called and told them to stay away from the foolishness, it only egged him on to go and see what he was doing.

That is of course if something else didn't capture his attention first, a sibling an errant beetle something shiny.... "BIRD" he called suddenly pointing to the sky and the little black dot that was so high up it couldn't possibly be caught or pose any sort of threat. Still, he felt the need to announce that it was there. Now, what was he doing? Right, checking out dads do-dad. His sister had a beetle though, was that more interesting? His attention wandered and he ultimately decided that what dad was doing was way more interesting than a beetle or his siblings so he started chunnering along towards him creating a little trough to show his progress.

He had ultimately decided that it was best to make a zigzag pattern on the ground so his mother couldn't see just where he was off to. It was the bestest best idea, if he moved around enough maybe she wouldn't realise his ultimate destination. Where was he off to again? Right, dad, he once again started his roaming until he found himself just a few feet from his tangled father. He lifted his head and blinked owlishly. "Dad!" He called without a moments hesitation "Watcha doin?" Borkr beamed, wait had mum said not to come over here for a reason? Na, this was home it was perfectly safe.

Stor'sjef Slange, unlike most rambunctious cubs, had no problem laying still and vigilant for long bouts of time. He was quiet, inquisitive, and his storm-blue eyes ever-watchful.

Even though, in some circles where proving your greatness and skills were the name of the game, being quiet could get you picked on. Slange preferred to watch and learn from the mistakes of others. Those who didn't could sully their own paws, and reputation, with the embarrassment of their own failures. And he could tick that off as another learning experience for the both of them.

Slange layed down, tucking his front paws beneath him.

Wait for it, wait for it...

Snap!

As predicted his father soon found himself tangled in one of his traps, and as usual it seemed that Simbi's mother remained unimpressed. Still, Simbi had come to realise very quickly that that unimpressed drawl and his father's easy humour each time he heard it, was all part of that strange loved up thing his parents did. Cute as it might have been to adults, it was all a bit puzzling to the young cub... No, the only thing that he seemed to be interested in was the very thing his father had been attempting to build.

Suffice it to say that there was something neat about all those traps and his father was a genius (in his eyes) for coming up with them. So they often predictably failed, but that didn't mean that Simbi didn't idolise him just a little bit for the inventions anyway. Unsurprisingly, he had been watching his father with interest from a reasonably safe distance until one of his siblings began to wander passed him.

It seemed like Moose was in search of a victim and she'd chosen a beetle.

...it would be such a shame if he were to stick his leg out and trip her up, wouldn't it? Definitely a shame.

He did it anyway.

The prey was savage and quick - taking her this way and that! Moose felt at an advantage, being such a big girl, that she her victory was just around the corner...

That was, until a paw snuck out caught her paw and she went tumbling dramatically forward kicking up a ridiculous amount of dirt and crushing the bug she was chasing. "Simbi.." She grumbled, a hint of a whine in her voice at him. Slowly she began to right herself, becoming dizzy as she stood up - a quick of her head corrected that feeling and soon she was narrowing her golden eyes at her brother.

She lowered her front half and raised her rump, swishing her tail behind her. "You want to fight?" She growled at him playfully.

He flopped on to his side to inspect the casualty - crushed by his 'chubby' sister, there was absolutely no way that the bug was going to come out of this one. She had successfully murdered her first victim, as he raised himself back up, he regarded her with a sober expression and shook his head. Now was not the time for games, now was a time for reflection, a time to mourn that in which they had lost as a result of Moose's mistimed step.

"Moose, you killed it," he stated sadly and regarded the bug again, padding over to it to pick it up. He brought it up to his nose to inspect it more closely before thrusting it into his sister's face. "What do you have to say for yourself?" he demanded and set it back down at her paws.

"Life extinguished, and so young as well!" he cooed sadly, shaking his head sadly. A funeral was required, a brief one to remember the good deeds of their now lost companion. He'd served them well in the brief period he'd been on this earth...

Rump dropped to the ground and Moose pulled herself up into a seated position - watching the reaction her brother was having to such a small life. Compelled by his speech she peered, with big golden eyes. "I'm sorry." The first words out of her mouth that appeared almost instinctual. "WELL... I heard a rumor." She stood up to better set herself before her brother and the fortunately close bug that had been thrust into her face.

She fell silent, staring cross-eyed at the little creature that still had a small twitch in one of it's legs, curious. Then her next action, which may startle, was done with purpose and enthusiasm. A large, pink tongue flopped free from her mouth, soaked in saliva. It lifted, her eyes widening at the prospect of what was to come - soon she dragged her tongue, from the base of his paw all the way up to the tips of his toes, successfully collecting the bug in doing so.

"Ew." She said, after chewing thoughtfully on the insect. "It doesn't taste good AT ALL." Her brow furrowed and nose scrunched up to create a look of pure disgust. First life lesson was appropriately learned - don't believe what you hear.

It was his turn to look disgusted as he held out his paw, he seemed to be frozen in this particular position as he stared at the 'remains' of what she had left on him. He was positively dripping, if there was one thing he couldn't appreciate, it was the fact that he was soak. Where had she even got that much gooey saliva, it didn't even make any sense! Maybe it was because she was chubbier than he was or something... Or the fact that she ate anything that was put in front of her apparently.

After a while, he did appear to recover though, and it was with a disgruntled series of flicks that he waved the saliva off his paw. Appropriately, it was all aimed back towards his sister, hopefully landing squarely on her nose to remind her that she might have thought the bug tasted bad but she was just as icky!

"Now how are we going to bury it?" he demanded and shook his head. "I can't bury you that'll take forever," he declared woefully and shook his head.

Moos admired her brother who was frozen by her spit - almost like magic. "Goddess of Saliva." She said in a mock pride. Her eyes were alight with amusement at the idea. Then unceremoniously she was soaked in return. Her eyes widened in horror as he made the first purposeful motion and flecks of her own saliva rained down on her."Ewwwww." She bellowed in absolute horror.

"No give backs!"

She shrieked at him and brought a paw up to cover her face, but not before his wish was granted. One large and particularly goopy blob of saliva had fallen off his paw after a strong flick of it towards her. Just as she brought the paw up she witnessed the goopy blob and nearly laughed at her success of avoiding such a gross thing. Fortunately she didn't laugh. Unfortunately she did breath. Through her nose.

The blob landed right on her snout and as she inhaled through her nose she was rewarded with a thick mess that burned. "AAACK." She proclaimed and instead of protecting her face she brought the paw to her nose and began to wipe savagely. "You. Are. Disgusting." Of course she didn't see that all of it fell to her as the individual at fault - he had waved his paw afterall.

"Pffft. Want me to vomit it up?" She asked, finally rid of the burn and disgusting blob. "I mean you've already made me sick. Your face does that to me." She snickered at her own joke.

Ha. Ha Ha. Ha Ha Haaaaaaaaa!

These were the internal musings of a triumphant sibling as she recoiled in horror at the return of her own present. May she live forever with her own germs, mutated by the dirt on his fur, until she turned in to some sort of blobby monster. If she wanted to be the goddess of saliva then that was just how that was going to go, after all, he envisioned that's what a deity of slime would look like - blobby and very wet.

So glamourous, so pretty.

...Honestly she'd look absolutely terrible and that's exactly what his icky sister deserved. She thought his face made her feel sick, well hmph, she should check out the rest of the world's feelings on her own!

"You can only say no take-backs before you hand over the present and you did not," Simbi replied diplomatically and shook his head. "Thusly I am in the right and you just got wrecked," he smirked impishly and raised a brow. "...But don't throw it up mom will tell you off," he pointed out and tilted his head to the side. "And then make you clean it up..."
