Description Novali seems to be a happy medium of his halves. He has the shifter ear shape, as well as the light skin tone and the eye color of the shifters. While at the same time he sports the two tone skin and markings of the matori, though his markings look like they are in a vague pattern. ( Kinda like a cross with the center being larger than the "arms". ) His eyebrows are those of the water tribe. Novali also has the matorian hair color █. He likes to keep his hair in braids that is kept in a ponytail high on his head but he does have bangs that tend to fall into his eyes from time to time.

Traits Nosy, protective, and warm
Personality With the birth of his baby sister Novali became instantly protective. Not just toward her but toward his entire family. Even at a young age he was willing to stand up to anyone he thought was picking on them. As he gets/got older Novali seemed to develop a weird sense of protection toward those that need it. Mostly those that were weaker than those that were messing with them.
With he and his sister being hybrids of a rare kind he is a bit more aggressive when others try to make fun of them or bully them for this reason. Though he won't actively set out to hurt anyone he won't hesitate to if that it what it takes to protect his sister.
Even with this strong outlook he tends to be a warm hearted person. His baby sister is the most important person to him since she seems to be the glue that holds his family together. This affection is easily seen when she is around him. It is usually seen in his expressions but can also be seen in how gentle he is.
Since he is going to become an assassin like his father he tends to have a knack for being extremely nosy. If Novali thinks there is a sniff of a secret he wants to know what it is. Knowledge is power after all. Sometimes this also tends to get him in trouble as the way he gains information can be seen as intrusive. Such as sneaking into someone's home or going through their things. He has even spied on a person or two.
Father Kamden - Shifter
Mother Ciskali - Matorian (Goes by Iska.)
History Kamden was on an assignment in Oba when he first saw Ciskali. At first she was an everyday Matorian but as he spent more and more time watching his target, a wealthy Oban merchant, he noticed how driven the woman was. Despite being treated badly in the employ of the corrupt merchant she never quit. She cleaned and cooked and took the abuse that was sent her way. Bother verbal and physical. Kamden started to believe that she was a slave but since she left every evening to return to her own house he ruled that out. Due to his curiosity over Ciskali he stayed and watched the home of his target longer than he normally would have. However, when the time was right he did his job. Kamden asked Ciskali if she wanted to leave with him, to be taken away from the evils in the house she served. For reasons she kept her herself at the time Ciskali said yes.
Kamden took the Matorian woman with him when he returned home to Jauhar. There he kept her safe and made sure her life was comfortable. When he went out on other missions he worried about her. And she about him. It took months before the shifter realized that he had allowed his personal feelings to seep into his work. He also came to the conclusion that he had feelings for the strong willed woman. So he asked her to spend the rest of her life with him and to his surprise she said yes. And as years passed by the pair decided to start a family. Or try to at least.
Novali was a pleasant surprise to his parents. His mother didn't think she would be able to have a child after losing so many previously. During her pregnancy she was pampered and taken care of by her shifter lover, Kamden. After he was born his father easily slipped into the family life and became the model father of the year. Taking Nova fishing and spending time with him. Even his mother seemed to give him an unusual amount of attention. They both thought that he would be physically weak since none of others had survived but he proved them wrong.
For the first few years of his life he was sheltered and protected by both parents to make sure that nothing ever happened to him but as they saw that he wasn't as breakable as they thought they allowed him to do more and more things. Novali discovered that he loved to run and was rather good at it. He was almost as fast as a radaku. From all angles they were a perfectly happy family. And fairly normal.
The only time Novali remembers his family ever having a rough time when he was little is when his mother lost another two babies. It had an effect on him that triggered his protective instincts even as a kid. He wanted to take away his mother's tears. When it was learned that she carried another child both he and his father worried endlessly. But Nova was dead set on making sure his next sibling survived. So by the time his little sister came around he was already the big brother that no one messed with. Nevlei, his baby sister, quickly became the most precious thing to him and his parents. Though he was also precious in their eyes. Novali thought they were wasting their time with him when he was strong.
Everyone was pleased that Nevlei made it past her first birthday, it was a good sign to them. Though she did show signs of the physical weakness they had expected to see in Nova. She had been born early and under duress so her lungs were underdeveloped and made it hard for her to run.
With his baby sister and his mother's fragile heart to protect, Novali decided to follow his father's path; Becoming an assassin. So that is what he works for when he has the time.

════════════════════════════════ SHIFTER ════════════
The Shifters comprise a small, rudimentary tribe dwelling in the heart of Tendaji’s rainforest. Like other Earthlings, they stand much shorter than the Alkidike. They possess long, rounded ears and their slim bodies are speckled with blue crystals. The length and style of their hair is dependent primarily upon their trade and rank within the tribe.
This race’s most distinguishing trait lies within their skin and eyes. Both features change from light to dark with the rising of the sun, and back to light in the evening, to match the silvery shades of the moon.
Personality-wise, they are across the board, although each individual’s disposition tends to coordinate with whether they are more nocturnal or diurnal. Their temperament, thus, greatly contributes to the form in which they are most commonly seen. (Those who are more introverted will have silver skin in their art and those who are more extroverted will have dark skin in their art).
The Shifer Tribe shares Jauhar, their rain forest home, with the Alkidikes. Because of the war-like nature of their opposing female rivals, however, they tend to do what they can to stay out of the way and to remain unseen. They live predominantly in the upper canopy where food can be found in greater abundance, creating strange nests and hammock-like homes from the thousands of thick, dark green vines that twist between the trees. This diverse tribe prefers an elevated position where they can still observe the movements of the sun and moon.
Religion: The Shifters worship and revere the moon, whom they refer to as the goddess Serin. Their true connection to the moon has been disputed for as long as anyone can remember. They do not call it their creator. All they know is that, when the moon comes out, their skin turns silver. Clearly, they must be connected in some way.
Shifters believe in the existence of lesser gods (i.e. of rain, of tides, of forests, etc.), but the names of these lesser deities vary and are often quite personal to individuals. The earthlings recognize that others may call these same deities by different names, and accept them as the same gods with different tiles.
Government: The Shifters live within a pretty rudimentary, tribal system. They have Elders who may be called together in severe cases, where guidance is needed. However, most transgressions are left for family groups or individuals to work out. Those who possess higher ranks are expected to mentor and help the upcoming Younglings and Prentices. There is an understanding that everyone must work together, to some degree, for the betterment of the tribe and their survival.

════════════════════════════════ Water ════════════
The people of Matori live in small, very humble huts and shacks in Matori's cities and villages. Their conditions in the larger villages are cramped, while the outskirts spread farther out to accommodate what farming they can do to provide for themselves. Their proximity at all times to the water has made light and loose clothing something of a norm, as well as anything aquatic and fish inspired designs.
The water earthlings are one of the most unique looking race of earthlings in Tendaji, with blue-green skin and lighter green markings that seem to be located in the same location and pattern for all the people of Matori with only the slightest variation in the number of dots. They do not have crystals, and their eyes are a golden-yellow or orange in color with pupils that sit as horizontal ovals rather than the perfect circle. Their ears are arguably their most unique feature, seeming to have taken on the resemblance of a fin, with an almost transparency to them. Their hair is commonly black but can range from mid to very dark blue-greens and greens, and their eyebrows seem to grow in patches rather than a continuous line.
The people of Matori have been under the control of Oba for as long as they have known in their histories. While they and born and raised in Matori, the majority of their inhabitants are picked as slaves at any variation of age depending on the work that needs doing. Now that they have been freed of their bondage to Obans, their culture is beginning to find ways to separate itself from the fire earthlings and become something unique.
Religion: The people of Matori, due to their close though rather forced relationship with Oba, believe in the same pantheon of Gods and Goddesses as their former enslavers, though a few of the names seem to have shifted and evolved. There is always a different name to pray to depending on the situation at hand. The major players in their pantheon include:

Ome Essd Queen of Gods, goddess of life and death (Oba: Essd)
Drach'ti God of storms and rain (Oba: Drach)
On'os God of time and fortune
Len Goddess of fishing and feasts (Oba: Lenoxe)
Kiyom God of wood and lumber
Hatald Goddess of fertility, marriage, and women
Jonal God of men and war
Ubeli'ae Godess of the moon and ocean (Oba: Ubeli)
Atun God of the sun, forging fires, and desert
Government: Having been under the control of Oba for so long, there isn't much of a governmental system for the people of Matori. They have lived their lives and their history as the very bottom rank of Oba's governmental views. Now that they have been freed of their oppressors, they are beginning to establish their own government based on a group of counselors who live on the market chain to the south. Those who have problems seek out a meeting with the counselors to come to a solution. Counselors are usually the most successful merchants and some of the strongest warriors during the War.
Update: Over ten years has now passed since the people of Matori were freed. Their commerce and trade has increased exponentially, and their people are flourishing as a culture of their own. (This also means that quested characters should take this into account when designing their histories)
