Pride Lands

Starts: Now! Ends: 17 February 2017

Welcome!

First off a spot of rules:
  1. Follow all Shop Rules
  2. Be polite
  3. DO NOT whine, beg, be rude etc.
  4. We have the right to not choose an entry and give out the cubs by other means
  5. Please play nice
  6. You can enter for all of them but can only win one.
  7. Will add more if needed

This is a contest for three young cubs in the boneland's. There are a couple things you need to know about these babies before jumpin in.

  1. They were colored by the wonderful Snails!
  2. The females will take the Automatic role of Umzingeli within the pride. If you wish for them to have another rank make sure to read up on it as most of them are Special Event only, such as Enda and Cabanga.
  3. They are related to BOTH Umholi and can only breed with Inselelo's that have NO RELATION to either parent. A side note to this, ICCLY they will not know they are related to Andhaka.
  4. Pride information can be found here.
  5. A small reminder that the males MUST take the rank of Ahluke if they stay in the pride when they reach adult. Or take the rank of Ibiza. This is a new rank, it's a herbalist rank and requires much of the same as when they take the rank of Ahluke. The only other option they have is they leave once adult. That is the rule with male cubs if you are not familiar.
  6. Options for males. Make sure you read that if you try for the male cub.
  7. Tawa followed his childhood sweetheart from the Firekin to the Bonelands and became an Inselelo to join her in the pride. He accepted the full duties of the title, but wasn't terribly interested in breeding with anyone but his 'mate'. He had a small litter with her before she perished in the fire that swept through the Bonelands not long ago and he is still in mourning for his loss. He has since stepped down from Inselelo to raise his two daughters and this litter will not sit well with him now that his mate his gone. He'll avoid them as much as possible while they're young so they don't grow attached to him, but if they seek him out he won't turn them away. He'll just be very detached.
  8. It would be much appreciated that the cubs stay in the pride (at least the females). If you wish for them to leave once adult please let Lutz and I know and have a plot at hand for them if possible. Trying to bring in some active members to the BLs.

The Family.

  1. Mother
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Chiko is going to be a very loving and doting mother. She's very attentive and has had a knack for getting into all sorts of mischief when she was younger so she's fairly certain a couple of her own cubs will be just as such. She's smart as a whip and extremely observant to everything around her. She sought out Tawa to sire her cubs because she was fond of his red pelt and blonde mane. She had her eyes set on Andhaka when she was younger but when Tawa took over as an Inselelo she immediatly sought him out and told him of her intentions.
  2. Father
    User Image
Tawa is definitely a lover more than a fighter, but he will fight hard for what he loves. He followed his sweetheart when she was forced from the Firekin for being Huria and camped out just out of range of the Bonelands until he was a full adult. His first attempt at challenging the Inselelo failed, but on his second attempt he succeeded and reunited with his friend who quickly turned into his mate. She perished in the fire that burned not long ago, leaving Tawa with emotional and physical scars as he had gone to try to find her and save her. Now he is heartbroken while trying to bring up their two daughters on his own. He is torn between leaving and staying and this new litter of cubs has thrown him for a loop. Deep down he is a kind and gentle lion, but for the time being he's very withdrawn and quick to anger.
  3. Cub 1 Eldest Daughter.
    User Image
  4. Cub 2 Eldest Son
    User Image
  5. Cub 3 2nd Son Buyisiwe AstoriaFallen
    User Image
Isi is going to accept the fact that he will have to leave once he's an adult but he plans on coming back later in life and fighting for a spot as Inselelo. He of course will have a fine time of sewing his wild oats while he's away in hopes he could bring back females for the prides numbers. All in all he will always have the pride's well wishes on mind. That is of course in the distant future. As a cub he's going to be very protective of his siblings, to include any half siblings he might have. He will do all he can to learn from the Adults everything necessary to live outside of the pride on his own. He will strive to be a model cub and stay in line for the most part.
  6. Cub 4 2nd Daughter
    User Image
  7. Cub 5 3rd Son Minza SilverLutz
    User Image
Having almost drowned on the way back to the pride, Minza has a massive fear of water. Beyond that, he's a quiet and thoughtful boy who dreads having to leave the pride. He'll make friends with another male who is leaving and will travel with him, perhaps adopting his mindset later on that it's best to be out in the rogue lands. For now, though, he is curious and cautious and doesn't like being alone.
  8. Cub 6 3rd Daughter Waphupha Syrius Lionwing
    User Image
Often times confused this day dreaming little lady can be found padding about with her head in the clouds.
  9. Cub 7 4th Daughter Thabisa In Good Faith
    User Image
She will begin her life as a gentle, loving, and affectionate girl who later becomes in there words: trusting, confident, and adventurous. Because of her perception is often optimistic, her nature leans towards trusting those around her. Even after once, she might not learn her lesson due to her aptitude to forgiveness. It would take something drastic for her to feel true betrayal, which makes for a good juicy plot point. What comes with her is also confidence. That will develop as she grows, as her beliefs, in both the world and in herself come to the surface. She will start putting more weight behind what she has to say, though she wouldn't be stubborn. She'll listen to those she respects, of course (including her mother and grandmother most of all). This is key due to her not being born from the abaholi, which wasn't great for her self-esteem as a kid but she'll learn to toughen her skin to dirty looks she sometimes received. She'll wonder about her father's origin, knowing he was Firkin, which will stem into her adventurous side. She might ask to her father to teach her to fight (or defend, really; she's not interested in hurting others) and she might even ask to see the Firekin territory, though of course that wouldn't be allowed (I don't think? XD).

Prompts: (borrowed these from the pride's prompts as they're relevant since 2 Feb 16)
  1. All these other animals you've seen wandering after your mother are sooo big! Your mother (or aunt, cousin, etc) tells you that there are animals even bigger ones. You've never seen something bigger! Of course now you have to see them. Do you wander off in search of these larger animals or maybe you're a good cub and ask to see them instead? Oh! Maybe you'll see them on your Inqina! Wouldn't that be exciting?

  2. An older cub tells you that everyone's going on an Inqina soon, but fails to give you any more information about what in the world an Inqina even is! Now you're left wondering what is is. Does your imagination go wild about the possibilities or do you just ask one of the adults about it? Maybe they tell you and that gets you even more excited for it! I wonder what kind of things you'll see...

Prompt: Being that you are male you are left with the choice to stay and never breed or leave and perhaps start your own pride or even one day return and fight for the position of Inselelo. How does this make you feel? Do you express these feelings towards your family or other members of the pride? Do you feel this is fair? How does this little boy react to the news that he will one day have to leave his family? Do you seek out your father or another male figure and talk to them about it?

Give us the inside wonderings of this red haired boy.

Prompt: (Taken from the prides info thread)
- The pride has finished their move. They have settled near the center of the plateau, within view of the riverbanks. They are currently resting near a multi-tiered rock formation that is regularly checked for scorpions and snakes. This spot is quickly becoming a central hub for the pride to gather as the Abaholi frequent the top of it.

With this being said you missed out on the drought and all that it entailed and cubs seem to be swarming in the plenty. You also discover you have quite the extended family. How does this make you feel? Does it not bother you or does your mind wander? With all the plentiful rain there is quite an abundance of other animals around as well, especially since you're near some riverbanks. Do you take the opportunity to explore? Do you see anything interesting? Don't forget there are crocodiles you must look out for! Let us know what this little girl is up to and how she feels about having so many family members. There is much that can be said.

I want the red pawed girl, if I may!
Username: Tanakako
SOA Name: Izula'wazi (Izula - 'Nomad' / Lwazi - 'the one with knowladge') (Zulu)
Are you a bonelands Newbie: Noooooope.
Personality: Bold, brash and out-spoken, this little girl shows every inch of her firekin heritage. Big boned as a cub she grows into a large and impossing lioness who adores action, adventure and exploring the world. She has a huge heart and adores her family and her pride. She openly expresses her love for her mother and her siblings with very obvious enthusiasm. She loves spending time with her friends and will do anything for any one of them. Chatty, confident and social, she is as happy staying home and spending time with her friends and family as she is out hunting with them.

Plots: Due to her andventurous nature, she becomes an Enda (when able). While at first taking on the role of Cinga, she soon discovers the restriction of the rank. While she is very happy as a Bonelander and has absolutly no desire to ever leave she does want to see what surrounds her beloved homeland rather than just staying obediantly within its boarders. She also wants to spread the knowladge of her pride, to bring in all those poor homeless lionesses out there in the roguelands and offer them a safe and secure place to call their home. She basically wants to be an embasador for her pride to all of Lioness kind. And hey, even if they already belong to a pride, they might like her's better!

OOC: While having a rank that takes her outside of the pride, she will spend most of her IC time within the pride on her 'days off'. (Like I do with my cinga Ilanga.) So she will be around for family rp and hunting trips.

Anything else?: Due to her being related to both umholi, she will likely rogue-breed while beyond the boarder. But she will pick a suitably coloured male and will raise her own cubs to be productive and loyal bonelanders. (Assuming Kuhaza has had to leave by the time she is old enough to breed)

Prompt Response:. Izula spotted Sifiso headed her way and beamed excitedly. The gold and cream adolescent was a half-cousin, one of many that Izula had been introduced to during her short life so far. In fact it seemed to her that she was related to at least most of the pride! Her grandfather must be almost everyone's dad, judging by how many new faces were related to her. And of those few that weren't, it seemed as if they should be, as she shared much of the same colouring!!! Much to her delight. As if the though had conjured her, Izula spotted Sifi's best friend Khethiwe. The dark red adult was one of Izula's favouite non-relatives so far. The young lioness was fun and would play with her and Sifi whenever they wanted. She also had a tiny limp, apparently having been bit by an evil crocodile during the drought. It was all so exciting! Izula wished she had been born then, but she made do with pestering Khethiwe, and anyone else who would sit still long enough for the tiny cub to corner them, for stories about the drought and the fight with the crocs. She was still screwing up her courage to approach the 'croc-whisperer', the pale inselelo lion she had been told about. But as she was still a little wary around her own father, she hadn't yet managed to be brave enough to go see the white lion.

As Sifi got close Izula bounded over to her. "Sifi!! Sifi!! Lets go see a crocodile!" Izula was far more rambunctious than her shy friend, even though the golden daughter of Bngizwe was quite a bit older than the dark cub. But after much begging and pleading, and the reassurance than Khethiwe would accompany them, the three set off for the riverbank, Izula in the lead excitedly trying to guess at what else they would spot this time.

Just a note that there has been some information added. Also, at Tana. Enda is only open through special events. I added that to my posts above. I know you listed it as a future rank she wants to take. Make sure everyone reads up on the ranks and what is allowed and what isn't. I will have them all certed as default ranks and if you wish to change their rank in the future do the required RPs/SRPS in order to make the change and post through the pride pages in order to obtain the title. =]

Pollack

Fashionable Mage

PostPosted: Sun Feb 05, 2017 7:34 pm
I want the girl with those baby blues!
Username: Pollack
SOA Name: Amahle'Isisa (Means Beautiful one, tenderness)
Are you a bonelands Newbie: Yeppers indeedy!

Personality: Amah definitely takes more after her father. She is a complete sweetheart. She is generally extreme open minded and tries to treat everyone with the same kindness she'd expect in return. But the problem lies with the fact that she's also a nervous wreck. Timid, shy, and with a bad case of social anxiety it's hard to get this little girl to open up when meeting strangers. When forced to speak Amah hides her feelings behind stammering one-worded answers or looking to family members to answer for her. She's prone to panic attacks if overcrowded which will eventually cause her to completely shut down, scrambling to escape the situation by any means necessary.

To avoid these bad anxiety attacks Amah prefers to observe than participate. She has gained her mother's wit and knack of observing everything in her surroundings. It makes her well in tune with the subtle changes in moods of situations and in friends. If you are close to her she makes a great friend, picking up easily most times that something is wrong. She's extremely loyal, willing to stay by your side and push herself out of her comfort zones if it means making you feel better.

Amah has a strong maternal instinct even at a young age. Being the 'Oldest' has instilled a need to look after her siblings, as well as anyone who she befriends. She's a classic mom friend, taking great care to make sure that everyone in the group is doing okay and having a good time. It gets to the point where she can be overprotective and hover. Some have even nicknamed her the 'Mother Hen' of the litter.

Plots:

The Start of a Calling:
Out on her Inqina she finds a injured animal. Extreme distraught Amah hides the little critter as they head home, bringing it back to nurse it back to health. It teaches her the value of life and sparks a life long calling to medicine.

Tragedy:
Amah loves children and with her strong maternal drive once she reaches her adolescences all she wants to do is settle and start a large family. Unfortunately she falls ill with a extreme infection. This leaves her forever infertile. Having her dreams crushed leaves Amah wondering what to do next with her life.

Turning a New Leaf:

Amah eventually finds herself slowly coming to terms with her defects. Her focus switches from having a family to her childhood passion: medicine. She throws herself into becoming a Ibiza to insure no one has to go through the same pain she experienced.

Anything else?: Amah is going to be a home body. She's not the best huntress so she pulls her weight with cub-sitting and aiding in healing pride members. Because she'll be home a good portion of the time she'll be easy to pop in and visit anytime!

Prompt Chosen: 1
Prompt Response:

Ohhh how she loved following mother around. It was a rare chance for the cub to explore and see new sights. Every trip out she gained a little nugget of knowledge. It wasn't uncommon for her to stash small animals she found along their trips and whisk them back home to study and cuddle with. Before her mother finds the wild animal and demands she releases it.

But there was so much more! Her family all spoke about wondrous creatures out there. From thundering herds of mountain like creatures with bizarre long noses, to strange long-necked gazelle with strips! STRIPS! There were even huge lizards with jaws as big as she was that waited patiently hidden within the water for a chance to strike.

She wanted to meet them all. She wanted to study them all! And perhaps...befriend some? It was a wild dream, she knew, but Amah desperately wanted to have a band of loyal animal friends behind her. They could protect her from those who made fun of her stammer. She could have endless cuddles. And most of all she could have friends. It was so much easier for her to speak her mind to animal friends than to try and deal with the unpredictable nature of people.

But, alas she would have to wait for her Inqina to see them. Amah didn't dare stray far from her mother's side. To her the world was a dark, ruthless, and downright scary place. She didn't know how her more adventurous siblings had the courage to push the limits so much. They worried her so much when they'd disappear. She found herself often putting aside her fears to go make sure they got back home safely. She was the big sister after all! She had to make sure her siblings were safe.

Even if that meant getting herself in trouble.

Annchen

Sparkly Bibliophile

PostPosted: Tue Feb 07, 2017 3:31 am
I want that boy!
Username: Annchen
SOA Name: Vusa (awake in Zulu)
Are you a bonelands Newbie: Heh... Nope!
Personality: A headstrong boy with a knack for talking as if he knows it all, even if he has a very fussy idea of the subject at hand. Vusa can sulk for hours if you have the nerve to correct his "facts" when he goes on about something. He enjoys being in the center of attention and it doesn't matter if others are listening to him talk or watching him brawl. Anything is good!
Plots: - Someone to dash his hopes about going to the Firekin, but hopefully not too early on... Plenty of bragging about it to his fellow Bonelanders as a cub would be fun! I figure most Bonelanders will not know the exact rules.
- Possibly submitting a joining app just to see if he'd pass with the new rules, but it might be funnier not to.
- Possibly a set up RP to be refused a duel at the border by a Firekin.
- He might end up in Nergui or something, angry for being rejected from his fathers pride. Otherwise Stormborn or some other pride with a "might is right" motto.
- He'd probably be too angry/embarrassed to ever come back to the Bonelands and try to become Inselele.
Anything else?: Vusa got his name for fussing and refusing to sleep as a young cub. His sleeping patterns are normal for a lion later in life, however. (not quite personality, so I stuck it here instead...)
Prompt Response: Staying was never really an option, but for the longest time Vusa was sure he'd just move "next door" so to speak. The pride his father came from would surely take him in! He was strong and his mane had the color of blood. And he had totally ruled in the play fights and spars at the Firekin outpost. It wasn't until his mane had started to grow in he started to doubt what he'd "known" for all his life. He'd grown nearly as big as the young Firekin lions at the outpost, and he spent as much time as he could there to spar. After besting one of them he told him they might fight again when he came to join them.

"You can't join us, you've got no fire," the other youngster said with a laugh.

"I have more fire than you!" Vusa spat and stormed off in a huff.

He had plenty of fire! To be taunted like that, and by a black and white Firekin! He definitely had more fire than him. But a seed of doubt had been sown, and when it finally was time for Vusa to leave his birth pride he didn't walk toward the Firekin border. Instead he set out in the other direction, to the unknown.

I want that boy!
Username: Big Hobbit
SOA Name]: Khwezi {Zulu: "bright morning star"}
Are you a bonelands Newbie: Nope
Personality: Khwezi is a clever and quit-witted cub with a bit of an attitude and a sharp tongue. He sees things as they are and is not afraid to be blunt and speak his mind. Being the smarty-pants that he is, he tends to get bored quickly and will often wander off to cause minor trouble. A total momma's boy, he is never too far from Chiko if he can help it. She will be a major influence on his personality. As an adult he will be more reserved and polite, but with an outgoing nature.

Plots: After he grows into adulthood, he will set off into the rogue lands to find his future. He will want to know his brothers' plans since he prefers to be close to them if possible. He will try to seek out other males from his homeland based on information from the lionesses to see how they fared. Once he sets out, the wonders of the world will ease his longing for home and he will develop a sense of curiosity and adventure.

After getting his fill of sight-seeing and gathering information about the world, he will likely find a pride to join to settle down and pursue family life. This will remind him of the time that he spent with his own mother and siblings in his birth home. As an older male he will enjoy relaxing and telling the future generations stories of his travels and of growing up in the Bonelands.

Anything else?: Khwezi is a believer in destiny and fate. He will come to believe that he was born male to see the world and if he were meant to stay with his family he would have been born female like his sisters. He will always keep the memory of his family in his heart, but will come to peace with leaving his home. He will likely end up joining a pride like the Pridelands or Nchi'mahadhi.

Prompt Response:
Khwezi was sitting alone that evening, the sky darkening as the sun slowly lowered from the sky.

He had always noticed that there were only a few adult males in the pride, but his thoughts never really went beyond that. It was just the way things were. It had begun to cross his mind however that even though there were only a few adult males, male cubs were born at about the same frequency as female cubs. What happened to all the male cubs when they grew up? The young boy brought his observations to his mother earlier that day only to be told the terrible truth.

One day, he would have to leave his beloved family behind or face a future of never having one of his own. He wondered if his brothers had any idea. A solemn gloom settled over him and he fought back tears at the thought of being without his mother and sisters, those that he knew and loved. It was a hard thing for his young mind to grasp and imagine. Being alone.

Sitting there, Khwezi tried to imagine that he was not within the safe boundaries of his homeland, but out in the middle of nowhere. He imagined that his family was not within hearing distance and not being able to return to them. This was a frightening thought for the young boy. Sighing a deep sigh, he knew that he would have to learn as much as he could before growing up. He would have to imprint every memory of his life now because one day he would be gone from this place.

Khwezi hoped that by the time he had to leave home, he would be big and strong enough to survive in the wilderness of the rogue lands.

Obsessive Streaker

I want the red pawed girl, if I may!
Username: ChaosTheories
SOA Name: Thenjiwe ('the trusted one' )
Are you a bonelands Newbie: Yes, I have one grown Lusizi

Personality:
As a female with something to prove, Thenjiwe takes particular care in watching her sisters and any other young females of the pride, even though she is just a cub herself. She has simple desires and wishes to love and be loved by her family and to provide all she can for them. Her loyalty to them knows no bounds, and may even extend to rogue females, if she deems them worthy of her care. She would never choose an unrelated female over true family, however; only when there is excess and she may be interested in joining the pride. Thenjiwe takes less interest in males and feels they can take care of themselves, and if they are not independent, she is quick to assume they are weak.

On the other hand, Thenjiwe can be prideful to a fault. She doesn't take failure well and she will verbally beat up herself if she doesn't do things perfectly. Her high standards make her difficult to work with at times, so it may take some tact from the other lionesses to get her to cooperate. If anyone insults her for being the daughter of an Inselelo rather than that of a Umholi, she may start a fight.

Plots:
- She needs to be friends with all the lionesses. All of them. And she will do anything to do it.
- It might be fun for her to do the most shameful thing she could imagine.... breed with a rogue outside of the rogue-swap. Gasp! Her kids will have... unique challenges having her as a mother, so one of her sisters may want to step in quickly.
- A silly plot could be that she gets a scar on her face and she goes completely out of character hysterical because she doesn't think a guy will want her for it xD

Anything else?: Thenjiwe earned her name for spotting danger and warning her mother before the others noticed during their travel home.

Prompt Response: The last few days had been enlightening for the young cub. Now that the pride had settled for the moment, there was more time to gossip and tell stories. Since there were so many cubs around, anything that they heard was quickly whispered and giggled about, especially if it was about their fathers. Thenjiwe didn't interact much with her father, so anything mentioned about him piqued her interest. That was how she learned about the nature of her half-sisters and his history being an Inselelo. She couldn't help but feel a spike of jealousy when she saw them. Did Tawa love them more than she? It wasn't fair.

She had to remind herself that she had plenty of other relatives in the pride. It gave her some comfort that she had family outside of her mother and siblings, so she would never be lonely. She was too young to think that some may be outside the pride and her little world, or what that could mean for her future as a mother. For now, she loved the thought of being surrounded by those who shared her blood.

The nice thing about so many cubs about was that she could sometimes sneak away for a while before the lionesses would notice she was gone. That's how she became familiar with the riverbanks and all the animals around it. She watched as long as she could as creatures she couldn't name arrived at the water to drink, then disappear back from where they came.

She was dozing off in the sun and waiting to be caught by an attentive lioness when a great, grey animal with two thick horns on it's head approached the water. It was alone, which was odd, so Thenjiwe eyed it with some interest. What she was about to see what completely unexpected.

Just as it's lips touched the water, a huge set of jaws rose up from the river and clamped around it's head, just before the horns. Thenjiwe jumped up and gasped as the beast struggled against the jaws, but the teeth just dug deeper. Then, as quickly as the jaws appeared, they dragged the entire beast into the water and thrashed until there was no trace of the animal.

Whoa, was that cool or what? She would have one heck of a story to tell to the other cubs.

Personality: Umusa is bursting with affection to give to everyone around her, whether it be her littermates, her parents, or all her pride-sisters. She'll advertise it too and have a habit of rubbing her tail against everyone and everything she comes into contact with. Born with strong family values, she'll want to see all of her family members happy and will be very sad and confused when told that her brothers are being kicked out of the pride. Growing up, she'll still miss them, but she'll want to instead become the "model citizen" that her family can be proud of, since some of the litter is gone. As an adult, she will retain her love-spreading energy, something that may or may not cause trouble between the females and males alike.
Plots: Oh, Brother - Umusa is going to idolize her brother, Buyisiwe, and his loss and that of her other brothers will affect her greatly. She'll become confused and even a little spiteful of the prides ways and will need her mother (or perhaps an older member of the pride) to explain to her why it is that lions are kicked out and why it is necessary for the survival of the pride. (Cue angsty learning plot)
Oh, Brother Pt. 2 - When Buyisiwe eventually comes back to the pride, she'll be a strong advocate for letting her brother return! But will he come back the same young lion she knew as a cub, or will he have changed into someone she can't even recognize? (Cue family drama plot)
Spreading the Love - With Umusa going around advertising that she's got love to give, it's bound to send the wrong impression to one of the Inselelo or Umholi. She could turn around and find herself suddenly being courted when she just wanted to cuddle! (Cue awkward flirting plot)
Tiny Bundles of Love - Well, the time has come and Umusa has finally become a mother at long last. A little overwhelmed at the prospect, Umusa will put all of her energy into being as kind and caring mother as her own was to her! (Cue family plot)
Anything else?: I would love to RP and plot with the family, especially since a lot of plot ideas that I have involve family related plots. Thanks for the opportunity to win these cubs!
Prompt Chosen: 2
Prompt Response: "An Inqua-what?" Umusa looked puzzled, staring hard at the ground as she tried to remember if she had ever heard that word before. It didn't sound familiar, so she looked up and was about to ask what the other cub was talking about, only to find that they had already sauntered away, looking more than a little smug. Umusa frowned after them. Fine then, she could figure it out on her own anyway!

The young cub was more than a little perturbed at being interrupted in the first place. She had been on the hunt for cuddle buddies, whether it be her sisters or brothers, or better yet, either of her parents (since they were bigger, they were easier to curl up against.) Instead, she found that unhelpful thing, who, rather than lay down and let her flop on top of them, had just asked her if she knew what an Inqina was and then walked off!

Maybe she could just go about her day and not worry about it. Maybe it was just some inside joke and there wasn't anything official about this Inqu-whatsit. Maybe... Oh, who was she kidding? She had to know what it was now!

"Mooom?" She called, suddenly prancing about the area, "Mooooooooooom?" No such luck, she thought sulkily, only for a voice behind her to spook the smaller cub.

"Umusa, dear? Why do you cry out so? Is something the matter?" The voice belonged to Mazuri, one of the younger lionesses in the pride. Surely, she would know what an Inqina was.

"Mazuri, Mazuri!" She said excitedly, "What's an Inqina?"

"Oh, you've heard, have you? Well, an Inqina is a gathering for cubs and lionesses to go out together and show you the pride lands." Replied the lioness with a chuckle, when Umusa's eyes began to shine with anticipation.

"When is the Inqina? I want to go right now!" She said, her pawing at the ground beneath excitedly. The lioness smiled gently and placed her tail on the young cub's shoulder.

"Well, you're about the same age I was when I was taken out on my Inqina, so it can't be long now. For the time being, however, why don't you run off and tell your sisters about it? I'm sure they'd love to hear about something so big from you-you'd look really cool from knowing so much too."

"Yeah, okay!" Said Umusa, turning around. "Thanks, Mazuri!" Oh, this was gonna be great! Now she'd look cool in front of her family! That would surely get her into a cuddle pile with somebody!

I want that boy!
Username: belloblossom
SOA Name: Amahloni (shyness, Zulu)
Are you a bonelands Newbie: No
Personality: In blunt terms, Amahloni is a weeny. He's about as far from bold as you can get and fears conflict like a disease. As a cub, he'll stick close to his mother's side until the news reaches him that the pride doesn't want him or his brothers and that they're being forced to leave. Heartbroken and crushed, his brothers will find him stuck like glue to their sides for the majority of their stay in the bonelands afterwards, as well as out in the rogue lands.
As an adult, he will be very nervous and insecure, but like his parents, he is very much a lover and will want to be surrounded by it and will seek out such a lifestyle wherever he can, regardless of his brothers plans. This will be the start of him growing a backbone and making his own independent choices.
Plots: Momma's Boy - Up until the time where he finds out he and his brother's are being kicked out, Amah will stick to his mother's side everywhere she goes. This may be inconvenient when she tries to go hunting or bothersome for her, but he will adamantly follow her to the ends of the earth. Displays of tough love on her part will only make him sulky.
Tough Love - Maybe the pride needs to push him and his brothers out to survive as a whole, but where does that leave him? In a quick transition, he will go from being a tick on his mother's side to his brothers and expect to stick with them forever. Only when Buyisiwe informs him of wanting to go back to the Bonelands will he feel the need to seek his own path. One brother might return and get back into the pride, but two would be impossible. Besides, after kicking him out in his youth, Amah will have no inclination to go back-not even to see how his mom's doing.
Girls, Girls Everywhere - I would eventually like Amahloni to find his way to the Likno tis Zois and join the pride. He'll be attracted that there is so much open love in the pride and revel in it when he joins. His future from there will depend on his interactions with the harems and lions of that pride.
Anything else?: I'd love to get some family plotting/RP in while he's still in the pride and some brother plotting/RP out in the rogue lands! Thanks for the opportunity to win a cub!
Prompt Response: It wasn't fair. It was the farthest thing from fair. Amahloni didn't understand, he couldn't understand! Didn't his mother love him? Didn't she see how much he loved her and his father and his sisters? How could she ask him to leave? How could the entire pride ask him-ask all of his brothers-to leave their home?

The cub had ran off the moment he had been told to sit on his own. His eyes roamed the savanna around him. The golden ground below, the thick grass to roll around in. The sounds of life hidden where he couldn't see. How could he be asked to leave? He thought. It was such a stupid rule.

He sat there until the sun began to set and then he turned around to return to the pride's main camp. Rather than go seek out his mother's side, however, the cub strode straight past her without so much as looking her way. Maybe, if he ignored her enough, she would change her mind and allow him to stay and live like she and his sisters would. But no, a little voice somewhere in the back of his mind told him it could never be, he would have to give up something much more precious in order to stay here: the idea of having a family of his own. While the cub was young and didn't entirely understand the loss he would feel if he stayed, he somehow understood that it was a loss greater than the one he felt now, in being left behind by his current pride.

He eventually found his brothers together and sidled up next to them. They would look out for each other when they had to leave, thought Amah. At least he wasn't losing his entire family, right?
