The smell that came from the wind told Finnan all he needed to know. Musk. Salt. Dirt. He was where he wanted to be. Now, where was a guard when you needed one? He glanced around the perimeter of the territory, the scent increasing with every step he took.

Finally, in the distance, a figure caught his attention. A brown lioness, he thought by the size and the hair. Huh. Interesting hair, he noted. He'd never laid eyes on these Stormborn but from what he heard, they were bound to be lethal. Excitement unfurled in his stomach as he smacked a smile on his maw and picked up the pace.

"Hello!" He called, friendly and jovial as he approached her. The look on her face told him to back off several feet in distance. "Hi, there. I'm Finch. You are?"

User ImageIrritation crawled along her fur like a hord of ants that refused to leave her alone. Why did she have to have such a dysfunctional family? Her mother had been forced to break up yet another fight between Ragnvard and Raskogr, not a physical one at least, but her big red brother simply would not leave the Lawspeaker alone and as usual their argument blew up faster than a week old bloated corpse.

Shaking her head she tried to shake the memory away and focus on the forest around her. Unable to handle her siblings, Renáta had escaped the pride interior and come out to patrol the boarders for a bit of breathing room. The urge to simply cross over and vanish into the roguelands was strong, but just as she turned to do just that. A scent came to her on the light breeze.

A stranger.

Turning sharply she stared through the trees to where the scent originated. Finally a shape appeared. A male rogue. A moment later he called out to her, offering his name, of all things. Scowling Renáta looked him over. "Are you here to Challenge?" She asked in return, her naturally husky voice a low growl with her lingering annoyance. She ignored his greeting and his question in favour of answering the only one that mattered right then.... did he want to fight?

As Finnan approached, he noticed the lioness' expression and wondered if she were irritated or that was just her natural expression. Oddly, Finnan thought back to the Bonelands lioness. While the two did not look the least bit a like, it appeared Finnan was incapable of crossing a females path that wasn't raging like a storm. It would figure. Most women either liked or hated Finnan, the thought of which triggered an internal eye roll.

In response to the lioness' greeting, Finann let out a nervous, unexpected chuckle. "Not one for making friends Is see." He leaned back slightly, not because he was afraid but because he thought a bit of space was what she would appreciate. "I, er, am looking to... join the Stormborn. Whose the man charge that I would need to speak to about that?" He didn't let the lioness' attitude lessen his chipper mood as he looked around for the big boss in charge.

She watched as he approched then appeared to back up a bit. Her own eye-roll wasn't internalised as she huffed at him, fangs gleaming in the dim light. "You want in? You fight me." She stated, clearly annoyed that he appeared to think her unsuitable for a challenge. "I'll be the one to determine if you are worthy of joining us."

She waited only a moment, to make sure that the pale lion had registered her words before she let out a deep and bone-rattling roar and charged at him. Renáta was by no means a large lioness by Stormborn standards, but she was a Stormborn, and had the impressive weight and muscle that any fighter required. She was easily the equal of any rogue male out there, backed up by a volitile temper and a lifetime of training. With a leap she shot at him like a hawk, fangs snapping as she went for his exposed cheek, claws spread as wide as her forlegs to wrap about his shoulders.

She was in no mood to take this slow.

The lioness' sudden downward shift in her already foul mood caused Finch's eyebrows to raise in surprise. He obviously had chosen the wrong lioness on the wrong day to test her temper. It was a shame. She had a very attractive brown color to her pelt, and there was something familiar about her. He couldn't place it, exactly, but he reminded himself now was not the time. The shift in her stature was clear she was going to jump right in to this... "challenge."

And, oh, did she. Finch only had a split second to shift. Instead of taking the full brunt of her attack, he instead felt her glance on his body. Her claws still raked into his skin, enough to draw blood but not deep enough to cause muscular damage. A short roar of pain escaped his maw but quickly recovered. Not staying still long enough for the lioness to wrap her arms around his body, Finch instead leapt out of reach. Not wasting the opportunity, though, he pivoted and went for the lioness' hide. Claws and teeth extended, Finch intended to sink them in and take hold, throwing her a good distance if he could.

There was something deep in his nature that felt bad about using his superior strength against a lioness but there was nothing weak about this girl. She was strong and powerful, and Finch was momentarily distracted by the ripple of her obvious muscles. He chastised himself internally, reminding him that he was a little preoccupied at the moment to be admiring his competitor.

Frustratioin at her family was willingly channeled into bloodlust for the fight as she felt his fur under her claws. But he moved fast and she couldn't get a good grip on him. Not a problem, getting into a westling match against a male was neve the best stratagy for a lioness, but Renata was not in the mood to play it cunning. If he could best her in a straight up fight, he was worthy. Using the one paw that had maanged to get a grip on his pretty, pale fur, she hooked herself round in a tight swing, letting him get in close in order to establish her own hold on im. She felt his claws sink home, more scars to add to her extensive collectiona nd nothing to really bother with. Her own claws dug into him in return, preventing him from tossing her away and instead locking the two together. Now up close and personal, Renata roared loud and violent as she snapped at his face, aiming to get her fangs into his muzzle or cheek, as his mane protected his neck and throat.
