Always dedicated to the job, Stylter, often found paths to get to others sooner than his Master anticipated. This of course awarded him with praise,or nearly as much as she was willing to give, but had given him some trouble a time or two. This particular event wasn't even a full day of joining the pride. He makes a near fatal mistake.
Stylter had been sent to the marsh for an ingredient that his Master was in need of. It was an odd idea to be trusted out on his own, but then it occurred to him that he wasn't entirely trusted as at any moment a pride member could easily snatch him back up and return him to his Master for discipline. So with that in mind he went about his business and headed for the Marsh.
"Just don't set foot in the run off." Her words rang in his memory as he approached the slope that, at it's very edge, sat the marsh he so desperately needed to get to. Being ignorant of the area he didn't realize that if he would simply head down further he'd find the needed ingredients, but instead attempts to push through that very run off he was warned against.
How bad could it be?
What could it possibly do?
His thoughts provoked zero concern and even seeing the water a little closer up, sure it appeared to be moving, but not to quickly. So he moved forward, paws carefully finding some easy footing as he got closer to it's edge. Then it all happened so fast. His paws touched the cool stream of pouring water that immediately swept him away, Stylter couldn't seem grasp the gravity of the situation and simply moved with the water that had taken him away.
Kluna was approaching her newest companion from the pride, seeing his dark pelted rump begin to head directly for the water she had so carefully warned him about stirred a rage inside. She had wanted to shout, warn him and lecture him immediately - she wasn't given the chance. Soon he was taken away and she watched as his body flailed in the water, limbs moving in unnatural ways.
To say she watched on in horror would be inaccurate, it was more of a soft sigh reaction. The high priestess had known what could happen, which was why she had so carefully described to him the scenario he could put himself into. Yet, here they were. It was a shame - she wondered, for a moment, when she might be able to get a new and perhaps more intelligent companion? That was likely not going to happen. This was a particularly nice gift that she couldn't imagine finding another. "What a shame." The words spoken out loud just seemed to make the situation more real for her and heck, she was even prepared to walk away when a small shout surprised her.
It came from where Stylter had been swept away, he'd been caught up in the water so fast that she had predicted him for gone, but it seemed he was much stronger than she had anticipated. Which was fantastic news! Kluna wouldn't let him know that though, soon as he was safe again she'd tear into him and then make sure any task that required water would be done by him. Surely an incodent like this wouldn't leave the individual without scars so to speak.
"Stylter!?" Her voice carried out.
Soon she spotted him. As luck would have it a fair bit of debris had built up and Stylter was lucky enough to have been swept up into a protective cove. That same cove was also fortunately on the side nearest the high priestess herself. "My my.." She murmurred to herself. She'd have to keep him alive simply for the purpose of a good luck charm once all of this was said and done. Now she had to plan the best possible escape for him that didn't end with death for both of them - she spied a long branch that she could easily manage and in the moment began to thank the gods that Stylter was rather puny having not indulged on the prides many meals available just yet.
"Grab ahold of this, I'm going to try and hold steady. You will need to use the branch to climb towards the banks." She beckoned this to him and instead of a response he was hit with a rather heavy wave. The high prietess worried this might have rendered him unconcious, but again the maned wolf had proven his worth. The potential in him was amazing, from a survival aspect anywho. Once he seemed to have his footing again he grabbed hold and pulled his body with all of his might - howling out in pain a number of times. Which lead Kluna to believe there were definitely broken bones, and certaily at least one broken limb. Things to be reviewed at a later time.
The next parts felt like they lasted forever - worry was written across the high priestess' face, but as soon as he was safely back on solid ground her face contorted into one of anger. It was voiced yet though - she worked over him in silence save for some mumblings about broken this or broken that. Even when he spoke to her, apologizing again and again on repeat she simply found a wound and dug. The maned wolf quickly learned to keep silent - words would not fix this situation.
Kluna had gone over the entirety of his list of wounds, all of which would take a number of her personal herb collection to mend. This anger only intensified as she realized this.
"I sent you to get one ingredient. ONE." Her voice boomed at the maned wolf who laid before her in complete agony. "Now you will spend a good deal of time gathering me the supplies I must now waste on you, PLUS whatever else I damn well please." Any thoughts of treating him with kindness had disappeared. Stylter cringed at the sight and sounds. Some of the words were lost of water logged ears, but he knew the jist of it - he ******** up and now he'd pay.
With the help of a lion passing by on a patrol of sorts she was able to get Stylter back to her den and then she began her work mending him.
