Welcome to the Night of the Great Howling!
This event ICly takes place in the middle of the winter,a n event to spark hope and joy within the pack. There is a Howling every month, when the moon is full to unite the pack, but the Great Howling only comes about once a year! During this time, the pack gathers together at the peek of the mountains and sing their hopes, fears, loves, doubts - anything they like, up to the gods in hopes that the gods are listening. You can find more information about the festivals and life of the pack in the pack's subforum, linked in the banner above.


This year a few things have happened - some of the pack left to join Aerastouvious, and several litters were born throughout the year. At this point, Aerastouvious has returned to the lands for trading and to participate in the Great Howling.

There have been two recent litters in the pack, close enough to the Howling to still be pups OOCly, and some of them will be contested away here!

- SoA won in this event must stay in the pack unless the pack otherwise disbands or you discuss the plot with Seaki first.
- You can only win one SoA from this event!

Pups are the future of the pack, and this particular litter is a special one! Not only does it tie two really large families together, but this litter are the half-siblings of the current Alpha. This is also the very last litter that Leini is going to have, hopefully. Look below for more info on this family!

Family Information
Leini | Mother | Leini is an old, doting lady who has been through a lot in her life. Her mate is quite a bit younger than she it, but she holds a lot of love for Sangria. Her previous litter was hard to bear, and this one was draining on her body, so this is her last litter. -> Played by Seaki
Sangria | Mother's Mate | A pretty stoic, young WD who has a bright future ahead of her. This litter may get some siblings via Sangria in the future. -> Played by Painted Moose
Zuberi-sikio | Father | Zuberi is a carefree free love kind of male. He loves to travel and he certainly he gets around. When it all boils down though the most important thing to the male is his family. He loves his mate with all of his heart but that doesn't stop him from making babies with others, they have a very open relationship. He loves to be a father and take care of his pups, the more the merrier in his eyes.-> Played by nessiaing

This contest is similar to the pup one above! These two have no backstory or history that is known, so - you get to make it up! Are they new to the pack? Were they born in? What happened to bring them here, and what are their hopes and dreams? This is all up to you, of course. These two are not related and bring new blood into an otherwise very related pack! Pup's Name: Lalia (well-spoken, Italian)
Future Rank: Gatherer
Personality: Lalia is a cheerful, energetic pup, albeit one who worries more than a little for her aging mother. She tends to fuss, but due to being squeamish around open wounds and injuries is much better suited to her role as a gatherer. She tends to talk a lot, and is a highly sociable, cheerful pup who, admittedly, has a bad habit of being far too much into gossip.
Pup's Future: Lalia's song would be to express her hope for her mother's health, for her and her littermates' happiness, for her to be able to help the pack somehow because she really, truly wants nothing more... except, well, she'd love to find out something truly interesting and special sometime in her life. Something that nobody else knows!
Plots?: Nothing concrete, but due to her loose tongue and love of gossip, I feel that she could potentially get herself into trouble that way, especially if she []does manage to learn a very interesting secret that really isn't any of her business. (What that secret is, I don't know, but I'm certain one could be thought up!)

Pup's Name: Taliba ("Seeker of knowledge" Arabic)
Future Rank: Artisan
Personality: Taliba sees the world as being full of potential and endless possibilities. Her curiosity is insatiable and she is constantly trying to learn more about the world around her. She is full of questions and will often tire the adults around her. An optimistic pup, she chooses to look forward and not backward, believing that one should learn from the past but not carry it into the future. Taliba loves her own and extended pack family and simply desires to help out in any way that she can.
Pup's Future: Taliba dreams of becoming a great artisan and having the ability to craft anything that she can think of. She wants to be able to craft new and unusual items that benefit the pack.
Plots?: As a young adult, Taliba will go out on her journey to learn what she can from the outside world. She will use this knowledge to better her abilities as an artisan.

Pup's Name: Vayu ("air, wind" in Sanskrit)
Future Rank: Hunter
Personality: Vayu is one of the lucky ones that it seems is naturally good at everything she does physically. As pup she was the one to land on top in the wrestling matches with her siblings and peers, and as a adult, it was clear she was going to be a hunter. She has great senses, stealth, and over all one of the best for her age group. Despite her talents, Vayu is one that also doesn't always emotionally feel "good enough." She struggles by comparing herself to others, and is especially self conscious about her lack of social skill. Of course if its hunting we're talking, she is readily able to take the lead and help develop a plan. Though on the other hand, small talk is almost completely impossible, and her humor is on the dry side which makes her feel as if she is not only different, but incapable in some ways.
Pup's Future: She will howling until she's hoarse for acceptance and better herself in every way she can imagine.
Plots?:

• What Vayu doesn't understand is she is more introverted than most of her pack. This in no way means she wishes to leave! Only that she can't incorporate herself around others all the time without over stimulating herself and should appreciate any alone time, or time spent with close friends and family as "normal." I would like her to meet someone who can teach her more about herself and self-acceptance in this regard.
  
• Training! I would like for her to meet someone who can keep her at tip-top shape, and eventually teach her enough skill so that she can begin to teach other little ones in the art of hunting.
  
• Injury? Perhaps taking down an animal she is injured and required to rest for a time. She isn't going to like it, but it will force her to realize she has other skills and talents than just being good at one facet of life. She also might get a little fat from loafing around, but thats not the worst thing ever.

Pup's Name: Aynabat (aý "moon" and nabat "sweet" in Turkmen)
Future Rank: Healer > Sentry?
Personality: Ayn is a sweet girl with a gentle heart. As a pup she did not handle death well, and was very tender about hunting, the circle of life, and the hierarchy of predator and prey. Her hide will grow thicker hide as she ages, and she will realize for better or worse, the world needed a cycle in order for coexistence. She will find her happiness at its greatest when her loved ones are near, and especially when she is successful in helping any of her pack (and the stray that crosses her bath, to be honest) in mending well. Her darkest times are when she is unable to help someone, anyone, and especially when they are young without having had the opportunity to experience life.
Pup's Future: Being selfless as she is, she will sing to good fortune for her pack, and happiness to all the winds touch.
Plots?:

• As a pup, I would like to (comically) role play her first exposure to hunting. For example, she were invited on a hunt for experience, and realized almost too late that the person she's with planned to hurt the prey, she might yell, or alert the prey purposefully in order for it to get away (without understanding that she actually needed to eat meat in order to live). This will also be the opportunity to teach her about the order of things.
  
• As an adult, I imagine she will assist a female with a birth, where unfortunately one of the pups are born sick. She will attempt to nurse them and coax them back to health but will eventually pass. This will devastate her but will also teach her more about herself, life, and the vocation she's chosen.
  
• Realizing that she might be weary from her work, she might opt to switch vocation for a time, possibly sentry, but will continue to assist in healing when she is needed.

Dog's Name: Jamidi (Meaning: Frostbite, Swahili )
Desired Rank: Healer
Personality: Despite her icy name, Jamidi is actually quite kind, with a motherly bedside manner when it comes to her patients. She is a devout believer in the religion of the pack and believes that in winter during the Solstice especially, The Howling has more affect because the winds themselves are sharper. Despite reveling in the wind and colder seasons, Jamidi has a relatively thin coat and as a result, gained the fur around her shoulders as a thank-you present from patching up one of the Artisans of the pack. It's one of her most cherished possessions now and she is rarely seen without it.
Their Howling: Though perhaps a cliche, Jamidi always howls for the health of the pride as a whole and for the well-being of the pack and their leader's through the any times of strife that they may face. She also howls that the wind spirits may guide their paws, being a strong believer of the religion. It is rare that she voices any personal desires aloud during The Howling, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have them.
Plots?: Ideally her plots would come after I've RPed her a little so I could figure out her personality a little more clearly, but as it is... I would like her to find a romantic partner among the Artisans and I would like to see her go through various struggles as a Healer (and perhaps a midwife, which would start her on her path to have a litter of her very own) as being a doctor has it's ups and downs.

Dog's Name: Makaa (Meaning: Ember, Swahili)
Desired Rank: Artisan
Personality: When she was an adol, it was hard for others to guess whether she was going to end up as a Gatherer or an Artisan, but after returning and relinquishing her Journeyman title to the pack, Makaa decided she had had enough of looking for things and was ready to make a statement through art. While she makes fur accessories (usually in the form of shawls) for the pack's wellbeing, it is random trinkets that interest her more than warmth does-she has a naturally thick coat, after all. See the necklace she is wearing? She made that herself!
Their Howling: Makaa is a self-serving dog. During the Howling, she almost always asks for the wind spirits to bring new materials to her paws literally while she is howling and also in the future. She will howl for the well-being of the pack, but that's only after she goes through her wish list of what she wants first.
Plots?: I would love to see her get her paws on a Gatherer or apprentice gatherer and strike up a business deal with them: She'll make them fur accessories if they bring her pretty or unusual materials to support her passion. The more extravagant the uniqueness of the material, the larger or more items they'll get from her.

Entering For Fire
Dog's Name: Kal'adan'deshe (Meaning: "lady of the red grasses" in Hebrew)
Desired Rank: Artisan
Personality: This sophisticate lady comes to the Tangambili from a far-off plain, where her sunset colors lent her camouflage amidst the tall grass. The mountain she looks forward to calling home is a very different world; one that, in Kala's opinion, stands to benefit from her new ways of thinking. This practical dog delights in craft, seeking to prove that there is worth not only in what is practical and efficient, but that which is merely pretty as well. She feels that even the smallest trinkets are not purposeless as long as they bring joy to their owner. To that end, she adores finding unusual items from Gatherers and Hunters to make into new and lovely things. She is not above taking steps to make sure she's the first one to get a shot at certain dogs' finds, either; Kala can be quite canny when she needs to be. While she does enjoy getting ahead and can be self-serving, she is not generally one to do so at the expense of a packmate. To her fellows, she always has a smile and a kind word, happy to help them achieve their best - all the better if she can do so with something she's created. She believes that the creations she loves the most turn out as well as they do because she put a little bit of herself in the making. These trinkets would go to her friends and loved ones, so she can personally ensure their safety as long as their carry it.
Their Howling: Kala would likely howl for success in her field and joy to those she loves; she wants to ensure that everyone she cares about carries something she's made with them always. She also wants her trinkets to earn a place of prestige, maybe being used in a joining ceremony or rising to some similar status.
Plots?:
- Maybe she's not fully convinced of her faith in the wind, having come from a place where the sound of wind was so different (through the grass vs. through the peaks). A Whisperer, or even just another pack member, could help her see that even though it makes a different sound, the wind is still with her?
- Something where she learns a little humility, like being forced to give up a crafting material she really wants to use in order to make a fellow Artisan happy.
- Making friends with someone she wouldn't have otherwise because a routine request for something mundane ends up being one of those "special" trinkets I mentioned above.

Entering For Pup #2
Pup's Name: Kalle (Meaning: "strong" in French)
Future Rank: Sentry
Personality: Brash, forward and unafraid, even as a pup Kalle isn't afraid to go for what she wants. Her missteps will - likely unintentionally - be slathered with a healthy dose of adorable; as she grows up, her continuation of this behavior will depend on how well it works as a pup. Regardless, she will be grounded, honest to a fault, and the sort to take no nonsense from anyone. The vivacity of her behavior sometimes puts her on the wrong end of her peers, leading her to spend quite a bit of time honing those social skills in order to learn how much is too much. All the same, she will likely be a little bit out of touch in crowds and highly social settings.
Pup's Future: More than anything, Kalle wants to hear the wind. All her effort will be bent to this task: she wants to be a Whisperer more than Any Dog has Ever Wanted Anything in All Their Lives. In the likely event that she is not a seer, she will default into sentry, using the hearing and eyesight she has spent her whole life training to benefit the pack as best she can. Additionally, as a sentry, she will be able to take solace in the fact that at least her eventual winged companion can be her connection to the winds she loves.
Plots?:
- Having her dream of being a Whisperer crushed. As she might not be a seer - and even if she is - Kalle is a little too active and boisterous to really be happy as a Whisperer. It will be hard for her to come to terms with that, though. She'll deal with the disappointment, make friends, maybe find her bird before coming to the conclusion that she can serve the wind and the Tangambili as a sentry. Eventually, she may even realize that she's happier that way than she ever would have been otherwise. If his plot takes her away from the pack for whatever reason (if that's even possible), she would definitely return.

Pup's Name: Barriet
Future Rank: Guard
Personality: Barriet is a strong pup, and will grow into a powerful fighter. It isn't that she's bigger than others, or more muscular. In fact, she's rather small, even as an adult. It's her speed and endurance that keeps her going, and she's quick to leap for weak spots. As a pup she'd always play harder than the other pups, and often more seriously. She was the type to also bolt off after anything that moved and return with scrapes and injuries. She was an impulsive child, but luckily as an adult this trait fades.

As an adult, Barriet is a brave and bold dog, quick to bite if someone pushes her and eager to curl against her comrades. She takes her duties very seriously, however she hasn't lost her playful nature. Some may think she's childish when off the job or taking a break, but she snaps into serious mode when working. She can act as if she knows more than others and tends to listen to herself instead, but surely this will simmer down through age.

Pup's Future: They hope to become a protector of their family and pack, and to live a true, honest life.
Plots?: I do! I was thinking a few things, listed below

• As you may have gathered, she tends to listen to her own advice. I want to knock this cold by having her ignore the suggestions of others and instead do as she wants, ending her in getting hurt. This should teach her that sometimes she doesn't always know everything.
  
• She doesn't tend to care about romance, and will ignore it for the most part. I want someone to sweep her off her feet, but then a problem occurs in them having kids at a later date. Barriet will struggle to conceive, and begin to worry that she's actually unable to have children.
  
• I'd like for her to get closer to others in her position, or similar ones.
  
• I'd like for her, while on patrol, to meet a predator and have a near death experience.

Dog's Name: Mea'aisa (Meaning: Icicle)
Desired Rank: Artisan
Personality: Mea is a sweet dog, who can also often be said to be a bit of a airhead. Its only partially true though, she just is often caught up in her own creative process that she forgets the world that is going on around her.
Their Howling: Mea dreams of being a designer. She is happy to live up on the mountains in a colder climate. She wants to dress the whole pack in shawls and pelts just like the one she has. Its not always easy to find what she needs but her imagination goes wild and she is determined to be the best pelt designer out there.
Plots?: I would like for her to find a mate to ground her to the real world a little. She wouldn't be choosey in terms of gender when it comes to her mate. For her it will be all love. However they will need to pull her in as she is too busy coming up with new designs for pelts for all the dogs in the pack to wear.


Entering For Fire
Dog's Name: Ololkii (Meaning: Flame)
Desired Rank: Sentry
Personality: Ololkii is a fiery spirit. At time she can be a touch on the hot headed side but she really does mean well, most of the time. Just don't get on the wrong side of this headstrong wild dog.
Their Howling: She hopes and dreams of a family. She isn't sure she really wants a male to help her raise them but she does know that she wants pups to share her life and wisdom with.
Plots?: I want her to fall in life, though she will have to find a mate willing to be a touch subservient to her. Whether or not this is to the father of her pups or another wild dog (possibly male or female) is yet to be seen.

Pup's Name: Ujuzi (Meaning: Skill)
Future Rank: Hunter
Personality: Ujuzi, much like those she is surrounded by, will deeply adore her family and want to provide for them as much as possible. She will be especially enamoured with her mother's mate, Sangria, for being the Lead Hunter and will aspire to become as awesome as she is at the skill, while also having time to come back and cuddle with the ones she cares about.
Pup's Future: Ujuzi will howl for the ones she loves like her parents and their mates and her sisters. She will also howl for hopes that the wind spirits grant her grace and speed to better her for becoming the best hunter that she wants to become so desperately.
Plots?: While in her ambitious puphood and adolescence, Ujuzi will want nothing more than to be the next Lead Hunter and will go on near ridiculous schemes to get her there. After biting off a little more than she could chew in a hunt, she will be humbled considerably and will be content just to be a regular hunter, while still giving it her all. When she reaches this point will be around the same time she'll be an adult and ready to settle down with a mate of her own.
