Professor Kukui is an energetic man who lives in the Alola region and loves to study pokemon moves first hand at his lab on Route 1. Kukui might seem a bit too casual and goofy to take seriously as a pokemon expert, but he is actually quite knowledgeable, and is well known amongst the townsfolk as the man to go to for any advice on the best pokemon movesets. The three starter pokemon he offers are the grass type, Rowlett, the fire type, Litten, and the water type, Popplio. Choose your new partner wisely, and if you find it hard to pick, don't worry too much; you'll meet many pokemon on your journey to add to your team. You might even see one of these fellows again, because rumor has it all of the professors have a constant hankering for chocolate, so if you bring Professor Kukui a RageCandyBar, he'll offer you another one of his starters!
Post here once and quote a crew member when your Trainer License (Character Profile) is in order, and once your profile has been approved, someone will NPC and interact with you as Professor Kukui, making sure your get your starter, Pokedex, an infinite amount of Pokeballs and potions to start your character off. All starters obtained at the pokemon lab are level 5 with normal coloration. Remember to keep all of your Items and Pokemon information (attacks, level, HP, EXP, etc) somewhere in your posts.
Professor Kukui's lab exits to Route One, so when you are done here, you may leave and step out into the big wide pokemon world.

Dakota had a delivery he had to make, but he had some business of his own that he wanted to do along the way. After all, he didn't save up to go to Alola for nothing! He wanted a starter so he could challenge the trials that the islands had for him. So, even though he had a Mudsdale by the name of Abagail with him, he made a sidestop by Kukui's lab. As he approached the seaside shack with Abagail being led by a rope behind him, he couldn't stop grinning. He was actually here! Finally getting an alolan starter! Though he wasn't a kid anymore, it still made him feel giddy.
Ducky tied Abagail's lead securely to the porch before entering the shack-like lab. "Kukuiiiiii! Professor, I'd like to get a Litten for my adventures across the islands!" He called out, peering around the room while still keeping an eye on the Mudsdale he had to deliver to some woman named Iolana Keli'i. Maybe the professor knew her, too? "I also heard you have a sweet tooth so maybe I can bribe you with this rage candy bar for a rowlet as well?" he added, waving the candybar around.

Sailing by boat all the way from Akala Island, a young White-haired female made her way to Melemele Island. At her side, riding the railing and allowing the sea breeze to travel through all her fluff was Titanium, her Alolan Vulpix. Set on her belt was an Oricorio she'd received from her teammates back at the Dimentional Research Lab. Excitement poured from the young woman as Melemele grew ever closer.
Once they docked, Eline was like a bullet, running through Hau-oli City to her destination on route one, this being the Lab of Professor Burnet's Husband, Kukui. She was eager to meet him, having missed his previous trips to Akala while she was doing research herself elsewhere upon the island. Not even stopping to properly enter the lab, she burst through the doors, only to realize now that she might have been a little over zealous, and calmed down. "Professor Kukui, I'm here for a- Oh?" There was someone already here? A young male, perhaps about the same age as her. Kinda cute, but his outfit was certainly a throwback to very distant times. "Hello." She quickly added before making her way deeper in the house-like lab. "I'm here to pick-up a Litten." She stated, to both the boy and to the Profesor, if he was within earshot that was.

Kukui had wrestling around with his Rockruff just before a few characters popped into his lab. "Alright Rockruff, think you can handle another round with the masked--" He squatted, ready to tussle, but then paused as he heard someone yelling his name, asking for a litten. "Auê?! Is it that time already? Come on Rockruff, we'll have to wrestle again some other time." Kukui insisted, heading quickly for the stairs. "Alola! E komo mai!" He insisted, smiling at the boy. "A sweet tooth? Nah.... I mean I guess I like--" Kukui started to argue, but the moment the word Ragecandybar was mentioned, his eyes lit up. "Ho! Deal, I'll give you a rowlet." He grinned, snatching up the rare treat and stashing it away in his coat pocket. Burnet never let him have the things, said they were bad for him, but even being fairly close to Johto, he never saw the things. He didn't know how Ducky had gotten ahold of one, but he would gladly take it in exchange for an extra starter. No Professor in the world would turn down a deal like that.
Before he could go retrieve the boy's requested pokemon and items though, someone else burst through his lab doors, stopping mid sentence when she noticed she wasn't the only one here. "Alola! Aright, I'll make that two littens then!" He grinned, heading back upstairs to retrieve their items and pokemon before heading back down. "I trust you two will take good care of these pokemon, and learn all kinds of awesome moves!" He insisted.

She didn't have to wait long, as the professor quickly wrapped up a deal with the male, and went to fetch their starters. Once the ball was in hand, containing her Litten, and the rest of the items she'd been offered here accepted, the white-haired female gave a way. "Mahalo, Professor! I will take good care of them!" She added before taking her leave. She didn't even leave with a name, but perhaps later on Professor Burnet might inquire about Eline's arrival. Eline herself was just to eager to begin her journey. She'd been a late bloomer in terms of the island challenge, so much so that now Gym leaders were in place, and she'd no longer being doing just trials alone. However, she still was somewhat curious about them, so maybe a test run wouldn't be to harmful? Whatever the case, she was free from the lab and ready to rumble.

Lana had been grinning ever since she stepped off the port in Melemele island. It was amazing that she could have lived right next to this island for twenty four years, and not have visited at least once. "Hoooooo-weee! This is gonna be a real rodeo Cyn, I can just feel it!" Lana cried as she made her way towards the lab on Route One. She had sent her mudsdale off to Aikane, a trusted friend and steelworker on Ula'ula island for a nice new pair of shoes for the road, and she had said she sent the mudsdale with a delivery boy to Kukui's lab, since Lana was headed there anyways to get her starter pokemon. Cynthia, Lana's mega lopunny, followed closely behind her, amused by Lana's excitement, but otherwise not responding much. She just let Lana talk and get all of those new journey jitters out before the cowgirl eventually neared the lab. There she saw Abigail tied to one of the posts, and brightened, seeing her old friend. "Abby!" The cowgirl broke out into a jog to go greet the mudsdale, who whinnied and beat her hooves into the earth at Lana's approach. The cowgirl hugged her horse's muzzle in greeting, stroking the mudsdale's cheek to calm her down. It would be bad if she up and kicked the support beam and caused part of the hut to come crashing down. "I'll be right back girly, you just wait here." Lana insisted, taking in a deep breath before she opened the doors.
Much to her surprise, it seemed she wasn't the only one who was here to pick up her starter, but then again, it shouldn't have been very surprising. New trainers cropped up just about every day to start their trial run, or she supposed it was a gym challenge now. "Howdy! Er, Alola!" Lana offered with a smile. While it was a custom to greet others with an Alola in the region, Paniola folk tended to used "Alola" and "Howdy" interchangeably. "I came to get myself a rowlet." She glanced between the professor and the two other trainers. The female one of which, accepted her things and excused herself from the group, which was fine with Lana, she wasn't going to impose on anyone, but the girl had been quite striking in appearance, what with her white hair and all of those fancy green accents. Her attention turned to the boy next, given that he seemed to fit Aikane's description of her delevery boy. "Beggin' your pardon, but ya wouldn't happen to be the one who brought my Abby, wouldja?" She asked with a light smile, adjusting her hat back a bit so she could see him better.
Since Lana was busy with Ducky, Cynthia set her sights on Kukui and his adorable little rockruff. Kukui was certainly the more handsome man of the two, not that Ducky wasn't cute looking, and she had to go greet his pokemon. ("Aren't you a little cutie~") She crooned, taking delicate steps towards the rock type dog and scratching his stones affectionately, before straightening up to eye Kukui from an uncomfortably close proximity, fluffing her ears a bit in his direction. ("Oh, if only I could have a big strong trainer like you, handsome.... I would trade in a heartbeat.") She smiled sweetly, not that Kukui would be able to understand her. It was a pity, but communication barriers could be worked around. She didn't mean any offense to Lana either, the girl was certainly strong in her own right, but the lopunny had a weakness for eye candy like the professor here.

Dakota grinned as the professor finally came into view. Boy, it really was too bad that he was married already. The labcoat didn't do much to hide the man's delicious physique. It made for some good eye candy, at least. Not only was the man attractive, but he was the samurai's idol. The way he studied pokemon, wrestling around with them and experiencing the attacks himself... it was something Ducky could relate to and respected greatly. Ducky still wasn't too familiar with the many terms used in Alola, but got the gist of what the professor was saying. "Heh, Great~" Ducky smiled as the professor snatched the ragecandy bar from him. He was really glad that he had gotten that tip about ragecandy bars. It was impossible to find in Alola, so he had had his brother send him one from home.
Ducky perked up and turned to face a girl that came in for her starter, too. She had said hello, but left as soon as she got her starter, leaving the samurai without the chance to reply to the greeting. "Maybe i can catch up to that later..." he thought, absently watching her leave before receiving his own starter and rowlet, plus some items. "Thanks professor! I'll take great care of them~" he smiled, tucking the new pokes into his active party as well as dumping the items into his bag.
He then heard Abagail making some noise, soon followed by a woman entering the lab. Boy, was she good looking! She looked like a rancher... and ... oh, she looked a lot like the description he got for the woman that he was delivering Abby to. Sure enough, it was confirmed after Lana asked the professor for a rowlet as her starter. "You must be the gorgeous Iolana Keli'i, then! I think gorgeous is an understatement, though." he smiled, looking up to the woman. Though, at his height, he was at a preeeeetty good level of viewing for her goods. He managed to behave himself though - no need to do anything bad in front of his idol. He dug out the mudsdale's ball from his bag, then held it out to Lana. "Abagail has some nice new shoes and is ready for adventure! I was giving her some fresh air after the trip here." he said, handing over the ball. "Aikane has already paid me, but I'd accept a kiss as thanks~" he added with as charming a smirk as he could manage.

It was about time. That trip took forever and Alejandro wasn't a huge fan of boats, trains, or planes. Hell, he didn't even like cars. He didn't get sick and he wasn't afraid; he just hated the fact there was never anything to do on those kind of rides. But, that was alright because now he was well on his way to getting his very own Litten and then he had a whole trip to look forward to. The young actor was ecstatic for the whole experience, though he certainly hadn't been when the idea was first brought up. It was a good thing there was a cat starter or he'd just be bothering his parents until his agent's honeymoon was over....And, probably getting into fights because he was a very active person and there was nothing else to do in Camphrier.
Walking into the professor's lab, Alejandro looked around and rubbed his nose at the little crowd that was there. Well, at least he knew the professor was in. He wouldn't have been happy to wait for Kukui to get back to the lab. The blunet was more than ready to write up a note and even leave some cash to compensate for a missing Litten. Though, he'd seen someone outside the lab with a Litten, too, so that was a giveaway that the guy was available. Maybe. She could have easily did what Alejandro was willing to do to get her starter.I hope there's another one for me or this whole thing will have been a waste of time.Well, at least he was able to see a Litten in person. They were a mix of cute and badass and that was awesome."Yo, Kukui."Not a very good first impression, but he heard Kukui was a sort of laid-back guy, so he wasn't all that worried."You have any Litten left I can take off your hands?"
Kukui gave a satisfied nod to Ducky. He seemed like a good kid, though his attention was brought to a woman that entered, inquiring about getting a rowlet. "Alola, auntie! I'll be back like U-Turn with your Rowlet." he grinned, heading towards the back. He paused as a blue haired male entered, asking for a litten. Boy, the lab sure was busy today! "I'll be right there, cousin. I've got plenty of starters for everyone." he called back to the other then continued on his way to grab the supplies and starters for the newcomers.
Rockruff was pleased with the attention he received from the Lopunny, tail wagging and back foot thumping a bit as the rocks on his neck were scratched at. On his way back, Kukui was approached by the Lopunny. He didn't understand what the bunny had meant, though... was her demeanor a bit flirty? He shook his head and chuckled, reaching out and patting her head before continuing back to the front to the trainers.
"Here you go, Auntie. A Rowlet and some supplies to help you get started." Kukui said, handing over the rowlet and supplies to her. After, he went over to the blue haired male to distribute the litten and supplies to him. "And here you are, cousin." the professor told the blue haired male. He looked back towards Lana and Ducky - that boy was still here, huh? - then looked around. It seemed like for now, that was all for new trainers, but he'd keep on the look out in case more showed up.

Lana chuckled a bit as Ducky showered her with flattery. Aikane hadn't mentioned that her delivery boy was going to be a flirt. The compliment was certainly appreciated, but she just didn't feel anything for the boy. Nope, she only had eyes for her Hank. "Yep, that's me. Thank ya kindly." She nodded, taking Abby's pokeball with a smile. It felt good to have her most trusted partner back in hand. "Aw~ Well that's mighty good of ya. I'm sure Abby appreciated that. I usually let her roam free range, so I'm sure she was close to gettin' an awful case of cabin fever." Lana explained. As Ducky suggested that he would accept a kiss as thanks, Lana simpered, leaning forward.... And then she pinched Ducky's cheek. "Sorry sweetheart, but this beauty's already taken~" She laughed, giving him a gentle pat on the face. Ducky was cute, she'd give him that, but she knew better than to fall for a schmooze. Compliments were nice and all, but it was getting to the point where the boy was obviously flirting, and she would stop him there.
Just before the professor went to get her rowlet, another male walked in, asking for a litten. The man had good timing, that way their requests didn't make the professor run back and forth too many times. Not that it would likely phase the man, given Kukui's physique. When Kukui returned though, she noticed Cynthia's actions, none too pleased with the mega lopunny's behavior. "Now Cyn.... Behave yourself." Lana chided, taking her supplies and pokemon with a gracious nod. "Much appreciated pardner." She smiled, though she quickly noticed that Cynthia had already moved on to the blue haired newcomer in their midst, since she hadn't quite gotten the reaction she'd wanted from Kukui. ("Why hello to you too handsome~") Cynthia batted her eyes at Alejandro, her puffball of a tail wiggling happily. "Hah...... I'm sorry mister, don't mind her any. Cynthia, we're leaving." Lana frowned, earning a scoff from the lopunny. ("What a killjoy.") She looked to Estaban with renewed interest replacing her previously annoyed expression. ("Some other time then, maybe?") She suggested as she turned on a heel and followed after Lana, swaying her hips as she walked.

However, those hopes were dashed as she leaned in and instead pinched his cheek, then patted his face to say she was already taken. Boooo. "Darn... He's one lucky guy then." he huffed a bit, then straightened out. His delivery was done, and he had his starters and supplies. It was finally time to get going. "Alola, Kukui!" Dakota called out to the professor, waving and leaving the lab shortly after Lana had.

The confirmation that there were Litten still available caused him to beam. Alejandro stood a few feet from the other two as he waited for Kukui to return with the Pokemon and whatever else he felt like giving away. Being a professor would be a pretty lucrative business if they bothered to charge for the starters they gave to trainers, but that would be pretty inconvenient for people that probably couldn't afford to pay. And, even Alejandro wouldn't be that cruel or unfair. As the good professor returned with two Pokeballs, one of which was probably for another trainer, the blunet's attention turned to the Lopunny that spoke to him. He was a bit stunned at that for a few seconds because he was just hit on by a humanoid rabbit, but he managed to look at the woman that was obviously the Pokemon's trainer."Can't be too upset. Bun-bun there has good taste."Still, Cynthia - that was what the woman said, right? - didn't stand a chance. Alejandro wasn't interested in Pokemon that much and even if he was, there was the fact the Lopunny was a female. Maybe if she was a human and a guy, he'd spare her a second glance. He already knew what they were, but he hadn't actually met them yet either. There was no way he didn't know how to take care of his favorites. Each was different, of course, but he'd learn the finer points. Hopefully the trial and error portion didn't have any serious consequences.

Someone watching might have thought Adder was one of those thieves that seemed to so often, as of late, strike the labs. He was certainly acting sketchy enough, glancing around like he was, shoulders raised, his hat shadowing his face. He rolled his shoulders some and stuffed his hands under his arms as he crossed them over his chest. He didn’t really like this part… Not that he’d done it before, but just… interacting. With people. It was kind of annoying. He didn’t really want to have to try and make nice and put on manners and be polite just so he could get a pokemon.
But, that was exactly what he was going to have to do. His mom would kill him if she found out he’d been disrespectful to Professor Kukui while he was getting his starter. He dropped his arms, relenting, and knocked on the professors door. He waited a moment, then opened the door, poking his head in with a frown. “Professor? I’m here for a pokemon…” he called. He hoped he could get this done quickly…

Kukui smiled as another trainer poked his head through the door. "`Oia `ea? Well come on in, no need to withdraw." He grinned, moving forward to greet the boy, but rockruff charged forward, barking in friendly greeting at Adder. "Hahaha! Rockruff! Ahana kôkô lele! Settle down or you'll get into trouble." He chuckled, moving forward to grab the rambunctious dog before he scared their guest away. "Sorry, rockruff loves new people, and we've been getting a lot lately, so he's very high energy right now. What pokemon were you looking for, little cousin?" Kukui asked curiously.

Adder pressed his lips into a very thin line and physically bit his tongue to choke back his reaction to that.... what was it, a pun? He knew the Professor had his quirks but.... He jumped and jerked back when the he was charged by a rockruff, nearly tripping over his own feet as, startled, he backed up. He caught himself, though, standing with a slight lean away from the pokemon, looking at it uncertainly. He frowned, moving as if to dust himself off, even though it hadn't touched him, as Kukui picked the pup up and apologized. "S'fine..." he muttered. Manners... manners... He was supposed to be trying to have manners.
He shifted, eying the Professor, then shook his head, reaching back into his bag. "Uh, all three, actually. Popplio, first of all, but I wanted to exchange these for the other two as well," he replied, rolling his shoulders back and holding up two rage candybars. He was trying... very hard not to glare, or flinch, at being called 'little'... It wouldn't do to go kicking the Professor in the shin before he got his pokemon, after all...
