Lush Jungle is a small forest located in the northern part of Route 5. This forest is separated into four parts and has a cave located in the east. It often rains in this jungle. Mallow will accept challengers here, and conducts the lush jungle trial, as this jungle is where the Totem Pokémon, Lurantis, dwells.

Trial #4: Lush Jungle
Trials do not need to be done in order, require 15 wild pokemon encounter posts to initiate, and reward one dimensional shard upon completion. You must roll for the attacks of both the Totem, and any allies it has out, unless specific attacks are listed for certain rounds. Whoever goes first is pre-determined and fixed, and cannot be changed by items or stat changes. This is to make things a bit more challenging for the easier trials, and easier for the more difficult ones.
Trial Pokemon cannot be caught, and Totem pokemon cannot be one-hit K.O.ed, and have Totem Aura, which gives them individual boosts to certain stats. These boosts will be stated for each totem. The totem pokemon give out set exp, however, the total experience earned per battle depends on how many pokemon are earned, and how long the battle takes, and EXP Items do not effect EXP earned from these battles. When you have completed a trial, please quote a mod for approval.
PLEASE NOTE: This system is very much in beta. There's no real way to test it that wouldn't hold things up, so we roughed this out to put out with the rest of the guild. As issues arise (trials being too easy, or too difficult), we will make adjustments. This means that if you are one of the first people doing the trials, you should be aware that other people may have to work harder, or may have it easier, depending on the trial, and the adjustments we make. Please know this going in, so that there's a reduced chance of hard feelings or accusations of things being 'unfair'. We're trying out best.

-5 rp posts are required, then roll an 12-sided dice. This will determine the Pokemon that appears. In the next post, roll a 4-sided dice to determine level of the wild Pokemon. Only certain pokemon can ask for help. If you encounter one fo these pokemon and choose to activate the SOS system, it will cost you 1 encounter post per SOS pokemon summoned (max of three per battle). You must then roll for which pokemon is summoned, and what the level of that pokemon is. Only one pokemon can be summoned at a time

Sullivan stared up at the overgrown entrance that was the Lush Jungle. Beyond this point light barely seemed able to seep in and light their surroundings. It was ominous and ambient in a way that would've unnerved the average tourist.
Luckily, Sullivan wasn't some average tourist. He'd been through these jungles a couple of times with the twins and his eldest sister to collect some of the wild fruits that happened to grow in just this place. Once you got around the place enough times, you came to learn that it wasn't all that scary.
It was the afternoon by this point and the blue-haired lad could feel some mist in the air as well, giving a healthy coolness to the radiating heat. And once they were inside, the shade would drop the temperature even more. The young man gave a tug at the shirt tied about his waist deciding to dawn it now. With chill prevention activated, he gave Junpei a little head jerk to follow him as they slipped their way into the jungle to train.

Man and rock-dog stood at the entrance of the jungle, eyeing the surroundings a bit. The air was thick. Foliage numerous and the sounds of wild pokemon? Well that part was something Sullivan couldn’t comprehend given his situation, but he could tell from the movement of the leaves around them that there were plenty of creatures lurking about to fight. He paused, rubbing his chin a moment before tugging his bag about and digging through it. He’d meant to do some cleaning and uptake, especially in regards to his team and felt it was about time that Junpei got a little boost.
Producing two of the heart scales, he ushered the pup over with a grin, holding them out for the helper hound to observe. Junpei eyed the things, giving them a little sniff and looking at Sullivan curiously; he’d seen his trainer use these on others in the team. Was that his intent now? Seeming to sense this unspoken inquiry, giving a nod of approval. Gently, he crushed the scales between his hands before gently blowing the dust in hounds face/ There was a sniffle and a sneeze and a vicious shake of his head before the air was back to its regular thickness. Junpei blinked a few times, staring up at Sullivan with a thoughtful look. Clearly, the scales had done their job with the way the pup seemed to be thinking. Good!
Sullivan hopped back up to his full height after giving Junpei a rub between the ears, turning his attention back to the jungle and beginning the trek deeper inward. Maybe he’d do some hunting for those wild fruits while they trained...

A good way in, Sullivan came to a stop once more. Junpei looked back as the young man began to fish another pokeball from his belt, unleashing Hani to join them. The Salandit blinked, gaze shifting around at the sight of the jungle scenery before looking back to Sullivan and Junpei.
Sullivan smiled pleasantly, kneeling down and making a few signing gestures at Hani, which earned him just… a blank stare. Right, right, Sullivan hadn’t really worked all that much with his pokemon in regards to communicating with him. They seemed to pick up well enough on his body language and intentions that way but well… it would do him some good to develop some simple sign commands that they could recognize. For now, though, he pointed out towards the jungle area, made some punching motions in the air and then pointed to Hani. Did that make sense that he wanted him to do some fighting?
Hani’s head tilted again, staring between Sullivan, then Junpei, then to the jungle grass and then back at Sullivan. Oh boy. The young man made the gestures again, pointing to the grass and this time making the correct sign for ‘fight’ in front of him. Hani stared again, his head slowly nodding as he moved off a bit, giving Junpei a look for confirmation. The Rockruff gave a little bark of acknowledgment, turning his own attention to another patch of grass to take up training.
The Salandit watched and then followed, happening upon what seemed to be a moving mushroom. He glanced back, noticing Sullivan still watching him before turning his focus to the swaying glowing mushroom thing again to engage it in combat. That seemed to be the intent after all.

While Hani disposed of a Morelull who had wandered into the clearing (much to Sullivan’s delight), Junpei found himself a potential opponent. There was an off look root buried in the dirt and he gave it a curious sniff. This roused it to life and he jumped back as eyes suddenly appeared and the pokemon popped out from the ground like a freshly sprouted cabbage. Junpei lowered his head as the Bonsly focused on his presence. He almost felt bad taking it down but well… he had to train! And it could definitely be a danger if ignored.

Sullivan watched Hani and Junpei as they took to training, relieved that Hani seemed to pick up on his desire that he train and that Junpei… well Junpei was just a natural in understanding what he wanted. That was why he was designated as Sullivan’s ‘service pokemon’ so to speak. He was alert to his needs and their surroundings and it naturally produced a bond that made understanding one another all the easier.
With his pokemon still in view, Sullivan turned his attention to some nearby shrubbery, rolling up his sleeves and beginning to do some hunting of his own. He didn’t exactly have a basket or anything, so he wouldn’t be able to haul all that much, but he could certainly find some herbs and medicines for future use if it came down to it. Places like this were just loaded with nutritional and medicinal goods. In fact? He’d probably want to take some notes and get some studying in. You didn’t become a pokemon doctor by magic after all.

Fishing out his journal and a pencil, Sullivan started skipping through to the last page he’d worked on. Unlike his ‘communication’ journal, which was rifled with all sorts of scribbling from trying to talk to people who could not sign, this one was much more organized. As it you would expect from medical notes (no one wanted to see writings that looked like a doctor was confused, now did they?)
Carefully, Sullivan started picking through some of the berries, eyeing them over and making a note or two. The fruits and stuff were in the trees and he considered maybe getting Ulani to help him on that front. She was small enough and could hold her own and he knew that the pokemon in the jungle weren’t all that much to worry about. Really, Mana would’ve been even better but well… it wasn't like she liked him enough to help him get anything done. The thought made his sigh. Who knew you could mess up so badly with a starter? It made him feel… well guilty.

He still didn’t quite get why Mana didn’t like him. Was it the time he’d allowed her to faint? He certainly hadn’t meant to allow it to happen but even then… pokemon just sort of ‘knew’ that was a thing, right? Or maybe she didn’t. Sullivan had to remind himself that she had come from a lab… but then again, Kukui was a weird professor who did weird experiments that very much involved all kinds of physical learning. Certainly, Mana had seen him flopping about trying to slam off with other pokemon and their attacks?
Then again… humans weren’t exactly… the knock a pokemon out types?
He didn’t know what experience Mana had had while in the labs, but he did know that he wouldn’t get much farther in his journey with her hating on him. Eventually, he’d have to confront this situation head-on. But how? Appeasement didn’t work, she bullied her way into getting what she wanted and threw a fit when she didn’t. It was like dealing with a child.
Sullivan huffed. He certainly wasn’t like that as a kid. At least… he didn’t think so?

No, recalling it, Sullivan was mostly a well-mannered child. At least when it was just him and his mother. When his biological father came around…
He felt his heartbeat pick up as a sudden surge of rage briefly overtook him. Right, that man. He was immediately reminded that it was only what… a few weeks ago that the b*****d had tried once again to come crawling his way back into their lives for whatever reason? Sullivan would never understand why his mother would bother to ever entertain his presence. If he’d been in her shoes, he’d have slammed door in his face with a final ‘hoorah’ as he’d done that one time as a youngster.
Which had resulted in less than fun beating. Sullivan took a deep breath, trying to shake off the thoughts. That man had no business invading his mind like that and he wasn’t going to waste his time that way. He had better family who gave a damn and right now? He was focusing on accomplishing his dreams and being something of value to the world.
Pausing in his makeshift studies of the local flora, he turned his attention to check on his pokemon. They still seemed to be hard at work fighting whatever had the misfortune of crossing their paths, which was good. The stronger they got, the more confident he would feel once they took on the next island challenge. They were making some good headway in his opinion. Once they took on the Lush Jungle’s trial, they could go for the Kahuna of Akala and then head to the next series of islands. He’d need to take himself a short little vacation at some point just to get back to basics. It’d been a while since he’d been swimming or surfing or even hung out with his older siblings on the beach. He ought to reach out to them when he had the chance.

Levi had his family to take care of but had told Sullivan that he was always willing to make some time to hang out. Doubly so if the nephew could be brought which the blue-haired man certainly wasn’t opposed to. Sydney was a sweet kid and it was nothing but humorous to see him try to communicate correctly with the sign language he’d been taught so far. It would probably benefit the kid if he was around more so that he could make use of it but well… grown-ups had lives, and even Levi probably wouldn’t stand for him constantly dropping by just to make sure his nephew got to practice. He could do that for his own kid; not a problem.
All the thinking of family made Sullivan a little homesick. He hadn’t contacted his mom after the incident and being sent off on the fear that he or his biological father might of at it, with someone ending up in jail or worse and he had left him a bit too mad to really think about reaching out at the time. But now he was back so... Closing his notebook and setting it aside, he took a moment to retrieve his communicator from his bag. Might as well take the time to do what was on his mind. Right?

How did he start out though? That was the awkward part. He’d all but stormed off on his mother when she asked him to just leave for a bit so trouble wouldn’t occur, and while he was damn miffed about it at the time, now that he’d had the chance to cool off, he couldn’t help but feel a bit ashamed for giving her that level of stress. So, he’d start there. It was only appropriate.
He thought long and hard about the text before tapping out a message. He let her know he was back in Alola; that he’d gone off to Kanto for a bit before heading to some fair that was taking place in Kalos. He did his best to explain everything he’d done up until that point, adding the necessary flairs that would ease her mind and let her know he’d calmed down during his time away, finishing up with the fact that he was out in Akala in the jungles, training and working towards the next trial. Just doing his best to assure her that there was no need to worry, that he’d calmed down and wasn’t out trying to do anything stupid.

With that sent off, he turned to his list of contacts to find his eldest stepbrother, Levi’s, number. This one was a lot easier to compose; a simple hello, how are you doing, and would he want to hang out if he had the chance. That sent off, Sullivan tucked the communicator away in his pocket so that he could feel when it went off. He didn’t know if or when that would be, but he looked forward to it all the same.
Returning his attention to his journal, he picked up where he’d left off in his sketching and note taking while glancing up occasionally to assure Hani and Junpei were alright.

The blue-haired man was met with a startling surprise as Junpei came limping over to him, clearly ruffled up from one of the battles he’d been engaged in. The man’s face shifted from surprise to concern and immediately he gently scooped the pokemon up and pulled it towards him to check him over. Luckily, it was the standard scrapes and dings that came with battle, but Junpei had definitely seen better times in a battle.
Rubbing the pup between the ears to let him know it would be alright, Sullivan dug a potion bottle from his bag. A few spritzes and wincings later and the rock pup was as good as new and followed with a little dance of thanks and few short barks (which clearly went unheard). All the same though, he grinned in appreciation at the display. He took the time to check on Hani as well, using the remainder of the potion on the lizard. He wasn’t nearly as badly off, but it never hurt to assure that his team was in tip-top shape all the same. With that finished he watched the pair shuffle off to rejoin the battles, returning to his noting of the foliage and collecting of useful herbs.

☆ ☆【With Zoey giving Piper the directions to their destination, it hardly took long for them to touch down in front of the entrance to the Lush Jungle. Sure enough, the familiar colors of the trial gates stood apart from each other, highlighting the path before them that led through a ‘tunnel’ made from a particularly large hollowed out tree into the dim forest beyond. The moment Zoey’s feet touched solid ground again, Hildegard wasted no time quickly reclaiming her established spot on her trainer’s shoulder as she settled in with a huff. Chuckling lightly, Zoey pulled Eir and Coltrane’s Pokeballs off her belt and let them back out. She briefly considered doing the same for Lukas and Gunnar, but… maybe it would be easier to just focus on training a couple Pokemon at a time for now.
”Ah, I kinda forgot earlier, but are ya feelin’ any better, Colt?” she asked as the thought crossed her mind, already reaching into her bag to retrieve the bottle of allergy meds that she had neglected earlier in the rush to eat and leave for the next trial. The Lycanroc gave a few experimental sniffs towards the entrance of the jungle, he certainly did feel a bit better compared to yesterday. His sense of smell was still muddled, but at least he could pick up on a bit of the new smells around this place. Humming as the Lycanroc gave a nod, Zoey pulled another of the meat-like allergy pills and held it out to him. ”Well that’s good, still should try to take these regularly ‘til yer feelin’ all better,” she reminded, ”Kinda was in a rush to head out earlier, but we’ll try to stay on top of it, yeah?” Coltrane huffed softly in agreement, leaning in and quickly consuming the proffered pill.
Tucking the bottle away, Zoey turned to face the entrance of Lush Jungle, the still cool morning breeze ruffling her hair. ”Hope y’all are ready then, we’re gettin’ back to the grind again for our last Akala trial! So we’ll definitely have to give it our all, alright?” she declared, fists clenched and held up confidently. She had a good feeling about this!”Aye aye, captain!”Eir happily chimed in, eager to actually take on an island trial battle of her own after spending so much time on the sidelines. This would be her chance to really shine! Coltrane smiled at his teammate’s enthusiasm, holding himself straight and poised as he gazed into the jungle with determination in his sharp green eyes. Orpheus simply smiled, while he wouldn’t be participating in this trial either he was glad to see everyone else getting so pumped up for it. Even the usually nervous Piper seemed like she was ready to take on the next challenge that lay ahead of them, although her confidence wasn’t quite as stalwart as her companions’. It was a little odd, as he hadn't necessarily pegged her as the fighter type just from her demeanor alone, but it was good that she was starting to feel more self-assured.
With a cheerful bounce in her step, Eir was happy to step forth and take the lead as she trotted under the makeshift log tunnel and entered the jungle with her trainer and teammates close behind her.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【As they passed into the Lush Jungle, the first thing Zoey and her collective party noticed was the sheer humidity that practically smacked them in the face upon arrival. Still, in spite of all the moisture in the air it was actually quite cool around here, mainly since the thick canopy above tended to block out a lot of the sunlight. Piper unconsciously wrinkled her nose as they entered, the humid air immediately reminding her of that mucky swamp she and her friends had to traverse back in that strange dream world place. Thankfully this place didn’t smell quite as rank in comparison, though that familiar metallic smell that always lingered in the air in the wake of a rainstorm was very, very noticeable here. ”Ah… Almost doesn’t feel like it’s been so long since I last came here,” Zoey remarked, inhaling deeply and taking in the nostalgic scent, ”The jungle was one of my favorite places to visit when I was younger, well… aside from the Battle Royale Stadium at least~ Amá and I used to come here every so often to forage for fresh food, lotsa tasty fruits n’ sweet wild honey to be found here!” Man, this really took her back… She remembered running through the abundant greenery with the old woman’s foraging bag in hand, climbing up the tall trees to get at the fruits growing high up above that were way out of Amá’s reach. Probably not something she could accomplish now that she was a bit too old for that sort of stuff, but it was tempting to just go on and relive her childhood fantasy of trying to be Tarzan as she roamed the jungle with reckless abandon.
”I suppose it should be no surprise how beautiful this place is as well, yet Alola never fails to amaze me yet again,”Orpheus chimed in, eyes twinkling with awe and curiosity as he took in the sights of their new surroundings,”Must be nice having an area like this close by with access to fresh food so regularly. It is certainly not the sort of luxury you really see when you come from a large metropolitan city like myself.”Zoey chuckled at that, though she had to wonder where exactly Orpheus came from. He had mentioned growing up in a city before… but she didn’t recall him ever really mentioning which particular city by actual name. Lumiose in Kalos was the first that came to mind that matched the description of a ‘large metropolitan city’, but she didn’t want to just assume and jump to conclusions right off the bat. For all she knew, maybe he came from a completely different region entirely, one that probably wasn’t anywhere close to the regions she knew.
”Hey, if we happen across some wild fruits or honey I can definitely grab some to share! As Amá used to say, food is always better when it’s fresh!” she said with a bright grin and a thumbs up, ”Also don’t be surprised if we might end up gettin’ rained on a lil’ while we’re here. Bein’ a jungle n’ all, spontaneous rainstorms are kinda bound to happen ‘round these parts if ya can already tell.” Orpheus smiled toothily, admiring the patterns of dappled light dancing across the ground from the smatterings of sunrays that could make it through the dense canopy.”Ah, what a shame. Seems I might have forgotten my umbrella in that case,”he mused with a laugh, wondering what sort of Pokemon lived around here. Though judging from the rustling in the trees and grass around them, perhaps they’ll meet some of the jungle’s residents much sooner than expected…】☆ ☆
