Jingū was... strong, impressively so. Although he'd realized it before, watching the hulking beast that was Wishiwashi disintegrate into hundreds of, much smaller and far from intimidating, fish after a single attack was a strong reminder. She'd hardly taken any damage! Though, that didn't mean Naomi didn't spray her down with another potion bottle when she skipped her way back to him, hand curled around a foreign object. "You were amazing, Jingū!" he gushed, amidst the potion applying, but stopped when she thrust her hand into his face, showing off the strange crystal she'd picked up. "What is this?" With her blessing, Naomi plucked the shard from out of Jingū's hand and held it up to the light, he'd seen one of these before. "It's a dimensional shard." Her totem pokemon now defeated, Lana had returned to Naomi's side, her expression unreadable. "Totem pokemon drop them upon their defeat. If you took on the one in Verdant Cavern, you should've gotten one then too," she explained.
"I did," Naomi confirmed, then opened his bag. But, rather than show off his first dimensional shard, he simply slipped his newest one inside; maybe he'd start up a collection of them. "Do they have any purpose?" Other than making a great souvenir for his younger cousins. Lana shrugged, "Some people say that, if you collect enough of them, you can summon a beast from a dimension far from our own. But, it's never been confirmed." He blinked, surprise accenting his features, then tried to digest the information given to him. He didn't know what he'd expected to hear, but that certainly wasn't it. It took several seconds, but his surprise melted away into excitement, and Naomi grinned widely. "I will have to see if these rumors are true then!" He exclaimed, then raced off. "--Ah!" Remembering something, mainly his manners, he skidded to a stop, turned abruptly, then bowed to Lana. "Thankyouforthebattleandtheexplanation,haveagoodday!" Uttered all in the same breath, he gave the woman just enough time to understand his words before he vaulted off again, and didn't stop until he'd broken out onto Route 5 again.

☆ ☆【The relatively short, slightly winding path through the cliffs opened up atop a small hill overlooking a lake below. Bright, crystal clear waters lapped at the shores, and just beyond from where her vantage point was Zoey could make out more small lakes spanning over the entire area alternating with long grassy paths in between. Even the wooden bridge that bisected the lake in their immediate vicinity, while a bit out of place with the otherwise primarily natural beauty all around them hardly took away from it at all. Zoey couldn’t help but feel a sense of serenity settle over her, she could’ve spent all day admiring how peaceful and beautiful this place was. A part of her wondered if maybe swimming in the lakes was allowed, the pure, clear blue water seemed to practically invite her to take a dip. Shame that she didn’t actually have a swimsuit on her right now, and she probably shouldn’t risk trying to swim here anyways. This was a trial ground, after all, even though it seemed like fishermen were allowed to fish here from the lone one she could see just on the beach on the opposite side of the bridge.”Ahhhh, wunderbar… Brooklet Hill is certainly every bit as lovely as Verdant Cavern was, if not even more so~”Orpheus remarked, smiling brightly as he took in the sights and sounds around them while they made their way down the hill path and across the bridge,”And yet again I regret my negligence in bringing art supplies, a painting of this place would surely look every bit as beautiful as it does in real life!”
Zoey gave a light laugh as she lead the way past the telltale colored gates leading into the trial grounds, keeping wary in case Gar might try to make a sudden appearance again like he had back in Verdant Cavern. He seemed to be behaving himself quite well thus far… but for how long was the real question. ”Heh, guess ye’ll just have to settle for takin’ a mental picture of it, Mr. Munch,” she commented in a joking tone, ”If we ever get ahold of some paints n’ a canvas then maybe ya can try paintin’ it from memory or somethin’~” It was mostly meant as a joke, of course, though the Zoroark hummed as he tapped at his chin with a claw in contemplation,”Hmmmm, it certainly could make for quite an interesting challenge, indeed,”he murmured softly, a spark of curiosity crossing his amber gaze,”While it might not be entirely accurate, it would certainly not be unoriginal as well. I think I would like to try my hand at it if the opportunity comes~”A confident smirk flashed across his face for a fraction of a second, before he relaxed his posture and turned his attention back to the grassy path ahead of them.”But for now, let us focus on finding Lana, ja?”he suggested, keeping his eyes out for any particular individual who looked like they could be a trial captain.
So far, most of the other people who were present here in Brooklet Hill were fishermen from the looks of it, who were more focused on enjoying the clear, sunny weather and cool water than on Zoey as she passed them by. Approaching the shore of a relatively large lake after traversing the long, winding path of tall grass, she noticed a few more fishermen dotted along the far side of the bank and along the wooden dock protruding out towards the center of the water. However, upon surveying the area the woman’s eye alit upon the figure of a young girl with dark blue hair who looked quite a bit different from the many fishers in the general area. Yeah, that definitely had to be her; she certainly looked like a trial captain if Zoey had ever seen one, which she definitely had! The blue haired girl seemed to be looking over the water thoughtfully as they approached her, though upon hearing their footsteps quickly spun around to face them with a smile on her face.”Alola, traveler! I assume you were looking for me?”she inquired, her eyes immediately lighting on the Pokemon that the woman had with her. ”Heh, well I definitely didn’t come to do some fishin’, that’s for damn sure,” Zoey reciprocated with a chuckle, eyes bright with eager confidence, ”Trial Cap’n Lana, I presume?”
The blue haired woman, clearly Lana, simply smiled and nodded, already pulling out a Pokeball in preparation for the battle to soon come.”Mhm~ You’d presume correctly there! I wasn’t expecting another challenger quite so soon, but I’m raring to go if you think you’re ready,”she declared as she took on a stance, tossing out the Pokeball towards the water to reveal the huge, whale-like form of a school of Wishiwashi, which landed with a great splash into the lake below and sent fat droplets spraying in all directions. Zoey was glad to return the gesture as she struck her own battle pose with confidence, Pokeball in hand. ”Hell yeah I am, let’s give ‘em a good show, Viola!” she called out as she tossed it forth, summoning the Serperior in a flash of bright red light onto the shore of the lake. The Grass-type hissed in anticipation as she stared down the much larger Wishiwashi across from her, not at all intimidated by the sheer size difference between them.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【If Viola’s memory served correct, this particular fish Pokemon drew strength from the fact that it gathered in large schools to form a much bigger fish to face off against strong foes. Apparently even mighty Gyarados would flee at the sight of a monster like this, but in spite of its great size and enhanced power the Serperior refused to be daunted by a foe like this. Darting forward in the blink of an eye, she had an idea that would definitely help to take care of the slightly more problematic aspect of it. Opening her mouth, she unleashed a concentrated spray of acid right at the center of the swarm. The moment the vitriolic liquid touched the Wishiwashi, clumps of fish Pokemon began to peel away from the gigantic form and flee towards the deeper depths of the lake. Bit by bit the school gradually shrunk, until finally all that remained was a lone Wishiwashi that was far too small to really seem like any kind of real threat at all.”Smart move there, using Gastro Acid to negate Wishiwashi’s Schooling ability,”Lana admitted with a nod, knowing that this was already a loss for her given that even in Schooling form, it was no match for the Serperior given that it had no super effective moves for Grass-types,”But we won’t go down without at least putting up a good fight! Water Gun, Wishwashi!”The lone fish Pokemon immediately retaliated with a forceful blast of water, though being a Grass-type Viola absorbed the blow with relative ease. ”Nice one, Vi! Giga Drain!” Zoey called out, a bit impressed that the Serperior had even thought to do that right off the bat. Seemed the grass snake was much cleverer than she gave her credit for! With her trainer’s command, Viola immediately drained nutrients from the weakened Wishwashi, feeling refreshed as what little health had been taken from her was immediately returned. There was barely anything they could do against her, yet Lana kept trying to push the offensive as Wishiwashi continued to spray water at her to ineffectual results. After Viola drained more nutrients with another Giga Drain, the tiny fish Pokemon gave a low cry before going belly up in the water, no longer able to fight.
”Well fought, Wishiwashi, return,”Lana praised with a small smile, returning the fainted Water-type to its ball before pulling out another one and sending it forth,”Go on, Chinchou! Let’s make this battle a bit more electrifying with a Spark!”The moment the little blue fish Pokemon appeared on the field, it surged at the Serperior with sparks flying from the twin bulbs protruding from its head and slammed into her. The grass snake grimaced, the Electric-type attack definitely hurt a bit more than the Water Gun had, but she was able to take it easily without much damage otherwise. Shaking off the tingling sensation that attempted to take hold of her, she retaliated with a Giga Drain once more without waiting for any orders from Zoey. The Serperior was quite confident that she could win this fight, bracing herself as the Chinchou came at her another Spark attack. Knowing that Chinchou had no solid means of dealing effective damage plus the Serperior being able to keep her health up with using Giga Drain repeatedly, their only hope was that they would be able to at least hinder her somewhat. Viola hissed as the attack connected, but much to her dismay she felt those telltale tingles come back in full force as her muscles began to seize up against her will. Damn… that definitely wasn’t good. Zoey grimaced upon realizing that the paralysis had set in, but she wasn’t going to let that get in the way of succeeding at this fight! ”Keep goin’, Vi! Fight it and strike ‘em down!” she commanded, hoping that the Serperior would be able to break through the paralysis.
Thankfully, luck happened to be on their side as Viola managed to shake it off and control her body enough to strike with one more Giga Drain, putting the Chinchou well out of commission.”Your Serperior is quite the tenacious fighter! Come back, Chinchou,”Lana commented with a grin, recalling the little blue electric fish to its ball and pulling out her last one,”I saved the best for last, though! This is our last stand, Araquanid!”And with that, she unleashed her final Pokemon, which, to Viola’s dismay, was a large spider-like creature with a huge bubble of water surrounding its head. If that was any indication at all, this was a Bug/Water dual type, and with her paralysis to also fight against this certainly wouldn’t end very well for her. It seemed she and Zoey were on the same wavelength, as the woman pulled out Storm’s Pokeball. ”Ya did great, Vi, come back for now,” she called out, holding out the Serperior’s ball and pressing the button to recall her, ”Let’s finish this, Storm!” As soon as Viola disappeared back into her ball, the Zeraora appeared to take her place on the battlefield. Flexing his claws, Storm took on a determined stance as he faced down the bubble-headed spider Pokemon. Though looking at it now, he could see what looked like a band wrapped around its head, with a glistening blue crystal set right in the center of it right between the Araquanid’s eyes. The fur on Storm’s neck bristled as he recalled Lukas’s battle with Ilima’s Gumshoos, that crystal could only mean...”Z-Power activate!”Lana suddenly declared, performing a dance that appeared to mimic the flow of water before taking on a certain stance, the Araquanid becoming surrounded with a strong aura as the Z-Crystal fueled its power,”Hydro Vortex!”
Already having bared witness to the strength of Z-moves, Storm braced himself in preparation for the enhanced attack knowing that this was going to hurt quite a bit. With a loud cry, the Araquanid unleashed a great wave of water onto the field, pulling Storm under the surface. Holding his breath for as long as he could, the Zeraora regained his bearings in time to see the water spider surging through the water at him. Not having even a chance to try to dodge, the Araquanid slammed into him, leaving a vicious vortex in its wake that tossed and battered him about to and fro repeatedly. By the time it had ended, Storm coughed up a bit of water, looking quite a bit roughed up but was holding on quite strongly. ”Yeesh, that looked like it really hurt… Ya alright, Storm?” Zoey inquired, unable to help feeling a spike of worry as the Zeraora recovered from the aftermath of the Z-move.”I'm alright, hurting a little but I intend to finish this,”he stated, determination strong in his voice in spite of his slightly shakier stance, sparks gathering in his fur as he prepared to retaliate,”It hit me pretty hard with that Z-move, but I’ll just have to hit back even harder!”With a courageous shout and a burst of electricity, Storm sent a great bolt hurtling towards the Araquanid in the form of a powerful Thunder attack. The beam of electricity shrieked through the air at high speed and struck the water spider Pokemon dead on, the sheer power of the attack further enhanced by the Zap Plate the Zeraora held being too much for it to handle. The Araquanid was sent staggering backwards, barely holding itself up on its multiple legs before it finally collapsed into a heap on the bank below, much too weak to fight any longer. Residual sparks stil dancing around his form, Storm flashed a grin and struck a confident pose while Zoey pumped both of her fists in celebration. They had passed yet another island trial, yet more challenges still lay just beyond the horizon. But for now, she was more than content to revel in the moment, elated at completing yet another step in her island challenge.】☆ ☆

Lana, with pursed lips, returned her Araquanid while mumbling to herself, "To think you had the mythical pokemon..." A sigh disrupted her musings, and she urned her attention beyond Zeraora, and to its trainer. "Congratulations," she spoke above the roar of the waterfall. "Defeating me means you get my stamp, as well as the Waterium Z -- watch, I'll show you how to activate it." The trial captain drew in a breath before she spread her legs and began reenacting her dance, with her limbs as fluid as the water. She cleared her throat once done. "If you want, you can try challenging the totem pokemon as well. Just be careful, it's been well trained and well loved."

☆ ☆【Zoey felt excitement and determination surging hot in her chest as Storm landed the impressive finishing blow on Lana’s Araquanid, another island challenge completed and under their belt. All that remained now was to defeat the Totem of Brooklet Hill to top it off, and with Kiawe’s challenge looming on the near horizon they would definitely have to train up quite a bit before they’d be at least somewhat prepared to take him on. Coltrane’s tail wagged with excitement as he took in the aftermath of the fight, Arceus why were all of his teammates so damn cool?!?! He would definitely have to step it up if he wanted to be anywhere near as awesome as Storm was when he practically barbecued that bubble spider with his Thunder!”G-Golly, that was s-so neat! I th- sure hope I’ll be able to s-show off some of my own moves s-soon too!”he yipped eagerly, bouncing on the balls of his paws in anticipation. He’d been on the sidelines for quite some time now, when was he going to get his turn to show his new trainer what he was capable of? Orpheus chuckled softly, reaching down and gently ruffling the rock pup’s fur with a wide grin.”I am sure your time to shine shall come soon, mein kleiner Freund,”he encouraged, humming as a thought occurred to him,”Although, if I recall correctly our dear Fraulein did mention that our next trial will be against a Fire-type trainer. I am certain your skills will come quite in handy against such an opponent~”Coltrane perked up at the mention of fighting against Fire-types, as a Rock-type he would definitely do very well against those kinds of foes for certain!”Y-Yeah! I’m gonna roll all over those guys like a boulder down a mountainth- side! I p-promise I won’t dith- disappoint!”he declared, striking his best confident pose in an attempt to mimic what he had seen Storm and Lukas do.
Storm’s ears twitched as he thought he heard Lana mutter something under her breath, a bit too quietly to really make out most of it. Then again, she seemed to be a bit surprised by his appearance on the field, which was only natural since his kin were considered to be legends in and of themselves. Still, the moment passed as she moved on to congratulate Zoey and give the woman her stamp and the Waterium Z-Crystal. ”Thank ya muchly, elskling~” she replied brightly with a warm smile, holding out her stamp book and her other hand to accept the new crystal, respectively. After accepting her rewards, Zoey nodded and paid close attention as Lana repeated the same dance she had done earlier, noting the flowing movements of her arms as she moved them from side to side before locking them in her final pose. ”Just like water… Got it,” she mentally affirmed, saving that to her memory library for later. That Waterium Z could definitely come in handy against Kiawe, though she would definitely have to work on training up Freya before then as well. And speaking of training, she should work on training up Lukas and Torgeir in preparation for Mallow in Lush Jungle as well. Although, maybe she’d take a short break from her island challenge after beating Kiawe before getting back into it, otherwise she’d probably end up burning herself out with training up for all of that.
She was snapped out of her train of thought when Lana spoke up again, suggesting that she was free to challenge the Totem Pokemon as well and warned that it has been well trained and loved. ”Will do, thanks again for the great battle, kjære~” the woman said gratefully with a grin, moving to spray Storm down with potions before heading down further into Brooklet Hill with her party in tow. The Totem Pokemon would surely be a breeze with having both a Grass and Electric-type with her, but with Viola being paralyzed from that Chinchou’s Spark that would certainly prove problematic. Surely she had something that could help with that in her bag somewhere, she’d make a mental note to stock up on status-curing items at some point. Maybe those chocolates that she had gotten earlier could help? She’d definitely have to take care of it before they got to where the Totem’s lair was, for sure. Sure enough, the long, lush path they were heading down seemed to open up into what looked to be a dead end, save for the great lake spanning over the land past the shore which looked to easily be the largest one in Brooklet Hill. ”This must be the place,” Zoey commented, taking in the sight of the huge lake and the almost equally huge waterfall that emptied into it from the other one above.”Certainly looks like where a Totem would reside if ever I have seen one,”Orpheus agreed with a nod, gesturing towards the center of the water, where surely the Totem was waiting beneath the surface,”If there is anything else you need to take care of, I would suggest doing so now, Fraulein.”
”Right, come on out, Vi. Let’s get ya patched up,” she called, pulling out the Pokeball and unleashing the Serperior once again. Viola certainly didn’t look too happy with the condition she was currently in, trying to keep her muscles from seizing up whenever that telltale tingling sensation crept over her. ”Here, think I’ve got somethin’ that’ll fix that,” Zoey suggested, digging around in her bag in search of those chocolate heart candies. The crinkling of plastic was the sign she needed, and she quickly plucked out the bag of chocolates and one of the leftover Heart Scales. Undoing the small piece of golden twine sealing the bag shut and grabbing one of the chocolates, Zoey held it out towards Viola with one hand while she gently pressed the shimmering scale against the Serperior's head with the other. The grass snake didn’t hesitate to gobble up the chocolate heart the moment it was offered to her, hissing contentedly at its slightly bittersweet flavor and smooth, creamy texture as it melted in her mouth. By the time she swallowed it, she was already feeling worlds better as the tingle of paralysis ebbed away at last and left her feeling pleasantly refreshed while new knowledge seeped into her mind from the Heart Scale before it dulled and crumbled away. Smiling warmly, the Serperior gently nuzzled her trainer’s hand in gratitude. ”Good gal,” Zoey cooed softly, patting the grass snake’s head affectionately. Straightening herself up, a more serious expression dominated the woman’s face as she nodded towards the body of water ahead of them. ”Think yer ready to take on the Totem, Vi?” she asked, wondering if perhaps she should use the opportunity to teach the Serperior some new moves before they headed right into the fray.
Viola gave a bright grin, striking a heroic pose to the best of her ability as she nodded.”Ssssweetheart, I wassss born ready. Let’ssss do thissss sssshall we?”she hissed, determination clear in her voice even though it was probably a bit more difficult for her trainer to really tell.”She certainly seems quite pumped~ Let us proceed to the battlefield, ja Fraulein?”Orpheus spoke, effectively summarizing his translation for Viola as he gestured for them to head onwards. Zoey was glad to agree, feeling confident that the Serperior would be able to hold her own quite well against the Totem Pokemon. At least, if it didn’t turn out to be another Araquanid. Even so, Storm could always come in to back her up if the going looked to be getting difficult for her to handle on her own. For now, she focused her attention on the huge lake in front of them, standing on the bank and scanning the water for any sign of something big moving aside from the tiny shadows of what were surely Wishiwashi darting around below the surface. ”Yo, big Totem ‘mon! We’re here to challenge ya, where ya at?” she called out, keeping her eyes on the center of the lake where the Totem Pokemon surely resided. Coltrane watched the water warily, feeling the tension in the air growing with each passing second as Zoey shouted in an attempt to summon the big boss Pokemon of Brooklet Hill. So far, he couldn’t see anything aside from the myriad fish Pokemon swimming lazily around. Until, suddenly, he noticed a small patch of them suddenly dart off in all directions just as a great shadow came hurtling up from the depths below.”Over there!”he barked, pointing his muzzle in that direction just as the water’s surface erupted with an explosive spray.”Waaaaasssshhhiiiii!”bellowed the giant Wishwashi already in its Schooling form as it broke the surface in the lake’s center, performing a flying leap before landing in the water several feet away from them.”Wh-Whoa! That’s one big fit- fish!”the Rockruff yelped, watching with a mix of awe and shock as the whale-sized fish Pokemon immediately began closing the remaining distance between them. From watching Zoey battle Lana earlier, Coltrane had seen how large schools of Wishiwashi could be, but this one was GINORMOUS. Then again, that was to be expected since it was a Totem Pokemon... Still, he was quite thankful to not have to go up against something like that when his teammates were more than capable of handling it.
Zoey gave a whistle as she sized up the giant Wishiwashi charging towards them, unable to help but feel a bit impressed. ”Heh, well lookit ya, big guy! I’ll bet even Kyogre would swim away at the sight o’ ya,” she remarked with a chuckle, assuming her stance as the Totem got closer and closer, ”It’ll take more than impressive size to beat us, though! Get ‘em, Vi!” The Serperior assumed a battle position, watching the huge Wishiwashi as it got closer and closer, preparing to retaliate the moment it struck.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【Viola coiled up in anticipation as the huge Totem Wishiwashi kept coming, prepared to strike the moment it got close enough to them. However, before it was even a foot away from shore, the giant fish suddenly submerged underwater again. The sudden change of course caught the grass snake off guard momentarily, before realizing that it was preparing to strike with a Dive attack rather than running away.”Gah, sssserioussssly?”she grumbled in frustration, angrily flinging a handful of explosive seeds into the water after it in hopes of striking it. No such luck, unfortunately, seemed this Totem in particular was a bit wilier than the Gumshoos they’d fought back in Verdant Cavern.”Wiiiiisssssshhhh!”a great shout emanated from the submerged Totem, and immediately other fish Pokemon in the lake came rapidly swimming towards them in answer to the big boss’s call. A much smaller Wishiwashi was the first to answer the call, just in time as the Totem came surging forth from below the water and smacking Viola with a huge wave. The Serperior braced herself for the attack, giving a mildly pained hiss as it hit home. Even though she was resistant to the Water attack, the Totem’s aura and Schooling ability added a bit more strength behind what would normally be a fairly ineffectual strike. Still, she was determined, even though it was two on one now, she wasn’t going to go down so easily without putting up a fight.
”It’s exposed now, Vi! Giga Drain on the Totem!” Zoey called out, gesturing sharply at the far larger of the two fish. The Serperior’s red eyes gleamed brightly, her trainer certainly had the right idea to get in some chip damage on their main target while it was now in their line of sight. At least then it would make it easier to deal with in case it decided to dive back under again. Wasting no time, Viola immediately drained a portion of nutrients from the giant fish Pokemon, causing the Totem Wishiwashi to groan in discomfort as she felt some of her health returning to her. Just in time too, as the smaller one suddenly surged forward to defend its boss and doused her with a heavy rain of extremely salty water. Brine, she realized, though she hardly felt much in the way of pain from the attack. She wasn’t weak enough that it would’ve been able to deal major damage to her, and even then it wouldn’t have knocked her out because of her resistance to it. Much to her chagrin, however, the Totem Wishiwashi threw up a pair of glowing blue rings around it in the form of an Aqua Ring. So now it was going to regain health over time now, and she still needed to take care of its ally so that she didn’t have attacks coming at her from multiple directions. Neato burrito… But, she could still work with this as long as she kept the offensive pressure on the Totem while fending off whatever help it summoned.”Take thissss!”she snarled as she swept her tail about, tossing a volley of seed grenades right at the smaller fish. The little Wishiwashi yelped as the seeds painfully exploded right in its face, sending it fleeing back to the depths of the lake in defeat. Good, that was taken care of… now to focus back on their primary foe.
To her annoyance, the Totem Wishiwashi once again decided to dive back down into the water. She could already tell this was going to be a bit of a long and frustrating fight, but she was determined to win it once all was said and done. Upon hearing the familiar call of the Totem from underwater, Viola immediately tossed more seeds in that direction to once again try to strike it. Again, no dice…”Y’know, actually hitting the target would be a novel idea, wouldn’t it?”she murmured agitatedly under her breath, glowering at the second Wishiwashi that showed its face on the battlefield in response to the larger's call for aid. ”Hang in there, Vi, just rinse n’ repeat when it comes back up again! Keep the pressure on ‘em, take care of the rest when ya can afford to!” Zoey piped up, clenching her hands into fists as the Totem once again resurfaced and struck the Serperior again. Viola was still holding up pretty well in spite of the beating she had taken so far, she could only hope the grass snake could continue to keep it up. Nodding affirmatively, the Serperior darted off to the side, draining more nutrients from the Totem to keep her own health up while its ally charged forward and smacked into her with a Feint Attack, using the leftover momentum from the strike to catapult itself back into the water. That definitely hurt quite a bit, but she kept her focus mainly on the larger Wishiwashi until she saw the right opportunity to take care of its little helper.”Wiiiiisssssshiiiii!”the Totem suddenly called out, the sunlight around the area growing fainter as large clouds began to form overhead. Zoey glanced up as she felt a few droplets of water hit her from above, followed by a steady downpour that covered the length of the battlefield. ”Rain Dance, eh? Well, we ain’t scared of a lil’ shower, keep it up, Vi! Hit ‘em up with another Seed Bomb!” she called out, ignoring that her shirt was already starting to quickly get soaked through with water. The battle was dragging on for a little longer than she would’ve liked but it seemed like they were winning so far. Viola was happy to oblige as she forcefully hurled more seeds at the small fish, sending it flying back towards the center of the lake. There, the Totem was down another ally, hopefully it wouldn’t try to summon more before she could beat it into submission!
Turning her now full, undivided attention back to the Totem Pokemon, Viola braced herself as she saw its huge mouth starting to gape open. A great blast of water burst forth and struck her dead on, sending her staggering back a good few feet or so. Even though it was just a simple Water Gun, between the Totem’s sheer power and the effects of the rain, it definitely hurt much more than it would’ve otherwise. She was still hanging on just barely at this point, but she was more than thankful that it hadn’t just dove underwater again. Which left it open for her to get in a good strike. Not letting the opportunity slip by, Viola whipped her tail about her like a lasso and let fly another Seed Bomb grapeshot straight on at the Totem. The huge Wishiwashi groaned as the tiny grenades exploded against its side, its weight starting to buckle in the water as the last of its legs finally gave out. Clumps of smaller Wishiwashi began to break off from the huge whale-like mass and retreat back into the deeper depths of the lake, bit by bit until only a singular individual remained while the rest of the school peeled out. With an alarmed yelp, the singular Wishiwashi darted back under the water, swimming back quickly to catch up with the rest of its brethren as they fled to safety. With the departure of the Wishiwashi, the rain let up as the clouds above the field dissipated, leaving only the clear blue sky and the brightness of the afternoon sun shining down. Viola stood there on the shore of the lake, worn out and a bit beaten up from the long, arduous fight, but she wore a huge toothy grin on her face all the same. She had actually won against the Totem in spite of the odds against her, and she was definitely feeling pretty damn proud if she said so herself!】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【Viola’s triumphant grin as she watched the last of the former school of Wishiwashi that had composed the Totem retreated back into the lake’s depths was reflected on her trainer’s face, Zoey pumping a fist in victory. ”Consider yerself schooled, Wishiwashi~” the woman spoke up lightheartedly with a chuckle as she pointed both finger guns at the lake like some kind of cheesy punchline. Orpheus chuckled under his breath, shaking his head at the bad fish pun while Storm slapped a paw against his face in exasperation.”Fishy jokes aside, that is yet another island challenge completed, ja?”the Zoroark suggested, gesturing back towards the path they had come from,”I suppose it is time we took our leave and started planning our next course of action for Kiawe’s trial.”Zoey hummed and nodded in agreement, she’d definitely have to start training up some more choice Pokemon along the way to Wela Volcano Park. Freya was an obvious choice; of course, a strong Water-type would definitely give them a good advantage over Kiawe’s Fire-types. As far as the rest of her team… Coltrane and Ingrid would definitely come in handy as well, given that Rock and Ground types were also good counters against Fire Pokemon. Of course, Ground didn’t exactly have the same kind of resistance against Fire like Rock and Water did, but it would be useful nonetheless. And… begrudgingly, perhaps even Gar would be useful during the next trial as well even though he currently had no moves that could effectively damage Fire-types, but as a Dragon-type he did also have natural resistance. He was already pretty strong after the battle against Verdant Cavern’s Totem, it would probably be a cinch to train him up to be ready for Kiawe’s trial.
While Zoey mulled over their next plans and goals, Storm made his way over to Viola with a warm smile on his face.”You did great out there, Viola,”he praised, nodding towards her with admiration,”I’ll admit I was a bit worried towards the end there, but you handled yourself very well in spite of the odds. It was certainly impressive to watch!”The Serperior felt heat pooling in her face at his compliments, her pale white cheeks brightening with a deep pink.”O-Oh pleasssse dearie, you’re much too kind,”she responded with a soft, demure tone, not even bothering to try and hide her flustered expression,”I certainly gave it my all, though I’m sure that if you had gone up againsssst it the fight would have been over in record time for ssssure~”She certainly didn’t have any particularly hard-hitting attacks in her arsenal like Storm’s Thunder, but Giga Drain definitely came in handy for helping to keep her healthy enough to last for much longer against even tough opponents.”Y-Yeah, you were th- so cool, Miss Viola! I never would’ve lath- lasted if I went up against s-something that that!”Coltrane chimed in as he padded over, while Eir stood by the water’s edge and appeared to pick something up from the surface with one her tails.
Viola’s flush deepened to a dark red as she giggled softly, unsure of how to handle the praise her teammates were giving her but appreciating it all the same.”Well, perhapssss you will have a chance to fight againsssst a Totem yoursssself, little one,”she hissed, gently patting the Rockruff with her leafy tail,”They may sssseem intimidating with their large ssssize and enhanced sssstrength, but even they aren’t completely infallible. Once you have an idea of what to expect and can take advantage of their weak pointssss, even a Totem can be eassssily defeated like any other Pokemon.”Coltrane’s eyes brightened as he took her words to heart. Even though the Totems would likely get more and more difficult as they progressed through their challenges, they were still capable of being defeated. It would just take some careful planning and strategizing as well as exploitation of any weak points they had. Maybe he’d get to try his hand at fighting the Totem of Wela Volcano Park when he was strong enough, perhaps he’ll even achieve evolution before then as well! Coltrane opened his mouth to respond, only to be cut off by Eir as she approached them.”I noticed this thing had fallen near the shore when the Totem swam off,”she spoke up, holding out a tail to reveal an odd glistening crystal of some kind,”I’m not really sure what it is, but perhaps Zoey might have an idea?”Storm eyed the strange crystal with a discerning eye, a familiar disturbing sensation creeping over him the longer he stared at it. His memories were still foggy in some places, but something about that crystal evoked a weirdly subconscious alarm in him, an almost primal sense of fear and anger that he hadn’t felt for a long, long time.”I will talk to her about it, if you’ll allow me,”he said simply, reaching out to take the crystal away from Eir, which she relinquished without any complaints.
”Right, I suppose we should get goin’ rather than just dallyin’ ‘round here,” Zoey remarked, already eager to get going towards their next trial as she sprayed the Serperior with potions to get her health back up, ”Come on back, Viola, ya deserve a nice rest after all that fightin’.” The grass snake seemed pleased with the prospect of a nap, even though she was feeling much better now she was admittedly still exhausted between the battle against Lana and that long fight with the Totem.”I ssssuppossssse I sssshall talk to you later then, Sssstorm,”she said with a small smile, waving farewell to him for the time before she was recalled back into her ball.”Yeah… Later, Viola,”the Zeraora murmured softly, clenching his paw around the crystal he held. He moved to follow along as Zoey called for them all to come along, heading back up the way they came towards Route 5. ”Well, that definitely went pretty swimmingly if I do say so myself,” the woman said with a smirk, unable to help but slip in another pun as they crossed the wooden bridge over the first and smallest lake. Storm sighed softly and shook his head at the clearly terrible pun, while Orpheus gave an amused ‘snrk’ before bursting into a bout of snickers.”Goodness, Fraulein, you certainly seem to be feeling more witty than usual today,”he commented, wondering where in the world all of this joke-cracking was coming from,”Not that I mind, though! I will admit that they are certainly kraken me up~ Though I think they might need a bit of work, your puns are not quite up to scale yet, Fraulein.”

Entering Brooklet Hill, the group was met with a vast pool of water with various waterfalls pulling the water down towards the sea. It was dazzling to say the least. A real show of how beautiful an island could get when it received good clean water. Seemed the Paniola area of the island could due with some of this water. Despite it's beauty however, the duo were hear for other reasons than sightseeing. They were here for a Trial and a badge. Steadily approaching the first pool of water, Tay rushed out onto a deck with a hand above her eyes to shield from the sun and see a bit better. "Woah! It goes on forever!" The teen exclaimed. "Hmm... But how are we going to get across?" Tay observed that there was no foot path around the lake of water. "Fly." Avikna mentioned.
"Oh you wont see the Totem that way." A voice spoke behind them. Both girls turned to find a small blue-haired girl looking up at them. "Hi, you must be challengers for the Trial?" She inquired. "She is, I'm here for the badge." Avikna corrected. The girl's eyes widened some and a somewhat shocked yet amused look crossed her face. "Ohhh~ Okay, well, then. You can find the trial captain at the bottom most pool." She smiled. "I'd advise swimming through the pool, the Totem likes to move around a lot." She continued. She then summoned a Lapras from a ball and hopped onto it's back and quickly sailed away. The Lapras moved so quick that before long the girl was completely out of sight. "How are we going to swim, Avikna?" Tay asked. "I don't know how." The girl continued. Avikna glanced away, thinking on this. She wasn't to great of a swimmer herself. Well, they'd have to rely on Pokemon power then. The girl had used a lapras, Avikna had a few water-worthy Pokemon to sail on the backs of herself. Grabbing two pokeballs from her bag, the red-head summoned forth Ule'tra and Terra. Both dragons emerged with a seemingly flustered grunt, they'd taken to resting after that meal at the Pokemon Center. "We need to cross this water, and you two are going to help us do so." Terra grunted a quick disapproval, while Ule'tra arched his back and swung out his Claws, seemingly Challenging Avikna. "The only way to find the Totem Pokemon is to swim, you wanna break Tay's heart by saying you don't want to do it?" Pointing to the teen, Tay seemingly on key started using a pouty face and even looked to be tearing up. Terra and Ule'tra narrowed their eyes... they could see this was a ploy. Despite this, the dragons gave in, and quickly went into the water. Avikna rode on Ule'tra's back while Tay took to Terra's. It wasn't the best way to stay dry but it worked regardless. Nijrn and Mave gave a helping hand by carrying their bags in the meantime.

Swimming around the first pool for what had to of been a good half hour, it was becoming evident that either they had the wrong pool or they simply didn't know how to get the Totem's attention. Opting to move on, the girls ventured to a small bit of land and took to the grassy paths until they reached a second pool. Once more getting onto their respective surfing dragons, the girls floated around the second pool for some time. "Avikna..." The teen voiced, slightly whining. "It's hot." She continued, waving at her face to make a small breeze with her hand. The red-head agreed, it seemed like it had gotten about twenty degrees hotter than the Paniola area... it was past mid-day and the sun was steadily going down at this point so why was it so hot? Avikna had half a mind to blame Ule'tra and Terra and their body heat.
"Hey! Come out already!" Tay suddenly shouted, moving up further onto Terra's back. "I'm challenging you!" Tay continued, even cupping her mouth with her hands. Terra wasn't liking all this movement and began to argue with Tay to sit still. Little did the two now bickering duo know... Tay's shouting had worked. Below them a swarm of small fish-like Pokemon started to move around in circles below the teen and Terra. It was then, one broke free and others followed. Leaping up out of the water, one by one the fishes joined together and eventually formed one large monstrous looking fish. It bellowed loudly, breaking Tay and Terra's bickering. "Wow..." Tay's eyes grew wide with excitement. "Alright, Freya let's do this!"
While Tay was excited, Freya was rather stuck in her tracks, floating on her tail just behind Tay. Looking back Tay gave the mouse a firm nod of her head. "We can do this." She spoke, trying to instill some confidence. Freya's fur seemed to stick up at end, but after a moment the mouse pushed forward, surfing her way in front of Tay. The large Totem Pokemon seemed tired of waiting and quickly started to move, kicking off the battle by diving back under the water. "Okay, Freya set up your Electric Terrain!" Tay called out. With the scary Pokemon gone... for the most part, Freya was able to muster up the power to issue her first attack as well, sending an electrical current over the water's surface, this would give power to her electric moves and boost her speed. She could already feel it as the terrain took over the field. But then, from the water another Wishiwashi emerged. It appeared ready to attack, to which Tay recalled in her first trial how another Pokemon had showed up and tried to interrupt her battle with the Totem Pokemon. "Freya use Thunder Punch on that one!" The teen called out. As Freya surfed forward, she met fist to face with the small Wishiwashi, just as the giant one breached the water and tossed Freya through the air. It then mustered up a strong jet of water from the mouth-like area of it's body, shooting Freya mid-air. The Mouse fell down into the water. "Freya!" Tay called, worried that her friend had been hurt badly. However, the surfing Raichu emerged with a bound from the water, flaring up her fur as she returned to her tail and surfed back into her place on the field. "Are you okay!?" Tay called. The mouse nodded her head, twitching her nose a bit. She was soaked to the bone and her fur was just slightly puffy from the water, but she was fine. "Use Thunder Punch on it, Freya!" She didn't need to think about that one. Time to pay back that fishy monstrosity for sending her into the water.
Rushing forward, the mouse used all her strength to punch the fish with her tiny paw. Thankfully the fish had no more tricks up it's sleeve and it took the hit full force. Chunks of smaller Wishiwashi sprung from the monster fish breaking apart it's schooled body. Bit by bit, more and more fish abandoned ship until only one remained. Glancing side to side the Wishiwashi appeared... frightened. It's companions had abandoned him just like that! One punch and poof it was all alone. Well, time for a daring tactic! Crying out into the air, the Wishiwashi summoned dark clouds that brought with them a heavy drizzle. Freya wasn't pleased. She wasn't likeing the feeling of wet fur. And now it just had to start raining? Was she ever going to feel dry fur ever again? "Come on Freya, It's on the ropes! Finish this with one last Thunder Punch!" Freya nodded her head, narrowing her eyes in on where she'd last seen the Wishiwashi. Closing her eyes, she switched to using her senses. The Wishiwashi had taken to swimming around the rain in hopes of tricking the Raichu into dropping her guard and opening a place for it to attack. It's plan however.. didn't take into account Freya's opened third eye. With her evolution she'd gained some rather extraordinary psychic powers. Finding the fish, she turned sharply to face him, opened her eyes and cried out lunging forward she caught the fish with the bare tip of her paw, just enough to knock the Wishiwashi into the air. It fell back into the water a moment later, but didn't appear to be returning. A moment later and the clouds dissipated letting the sun shine once more. A clear sign they'd managed to defeat it.

Tay couldn't contain herself at long last, releasing a loud cry of joy. "Freya we did it!" She announced, quickly catching the Raichu in a big hug as she returned to Tay. "You are so cool!" She continued. Terra let out a huff, blowing bubbles a bit, she too had been mildly impressed by the mouse's ability to fight. Among her bubbles, something shiny floated up above the water seemingly floating all on it's own, though it quickly became evident that a Pokemon was making the sparkling object float. Terra shifted momentarily to get Tay's attention, then grunted towards the object when she did. "Hmm, oh!" Tay exclaimed. Reaching down she plucked the item from the floating Pokemon. "Another one of those odd crystal thingies." She smiled. She'd gotten one from the first trial as well. Placing it in her bag, the teen finally got to healing up Freya with some potions while she turned to look at Avikna. "Now it's your turn, Avikna."
The red-head in question had been keeping her distance. She'd let Tay handle this battle all on her own. Seeing the teen prevail once more with only the aid of Freya made her believe the girl could actually get even further. Sending a small grin back towards Tay, Avikna and Ule'tra moved closer to her. "Right." She replied. Before moving on she looked back to Tay once more. "You've gotten much stronger." She replied. "Both you and your Pokemon." Tay replied with a wide toothy grin.
After a bit more surfing and walking along some dry land, the duo and their Pokemon finally managed to reach the final pool of water. During this time Avikna had decided to take Aislin off the team, and brought out Lexera to help Dovakin when the tiny dragon couldn't fight any longer. Once entering the final pool of water it appeared this pool of water was all but void of living figures, save for a lone figure at it's center. The closer they got, the more Avikna's eyes started to narrow. This figure looked quite familiar. Once within a yard of the figure they turned to reveal they were indeed the girl from earlier. "I had a good feeling about you." She smiled. "Given you're here I'm assuming you beat the Totem?" The girl continued. Tay nodded several times, bouncing a bit with each nod, much to Terra's dismay. "Looks like it'll have to train much harder than." The girl replied with a giggle. "Anyway, you're here to battle the Trial Captian. That would be me, sorry I mislead you kinda back there. I prefer battling in this pool of water compared to the others." She motioned around herself. "It's much quieter back here." That being said, the girl then quickly retrieved a ball from her person and held it forward. "That aside, My name is Lana and I'm ready to battle if you are!" Avikna gave a nod, and summoned forth her own battling companion, Dovakin to take the stage.

Dovakin had fought with earnest. With all his might, the tiny dragon managed to hold his own against Lana's first Pokemon, eventually succumbing to her second. The attack soak was a unique one, in which it changed the target's type, making Dovakin susceptible to Electric-type attacks was a keen strategy. Albeit Avikna could of pulled out Dovakin in favor of Lexera, but that just wasn't the type of trainer Avikna is. Least, not now she wasn't. Regardless, the Dragon made it's due, and deserved a rest while Lexera on the other hand looked already about to pass out. "Return, Lexera." Avikna voiced, her tone exasperated. The faux dragon looked back with a grin before being pulled back into her ball. Lana in the meantime had gathered up a small assortment of items and sailed them over to Avikna with a small but sure smile. "Good work, you really don't know how to hold back." Placing the variety of items in her bag, Avikna looked to find Tay already seemingly strategizing her next trial. From what the recalled of Wela Volcano Park, on the map it was... of course a Volcano, active. Meaning Ground, rock and fire-types likely made this their home. Tay had recalled she held four Pokemon who'd be perfect for the task of tackling a Pokemon of either of those types. Yermean, Manuel, Poblan and Yumin. After seeing the Totem Wishiwashi and Lana's Wishiwashi in action, she was of course going to bring Yumin to the team, siding to bring in Yermean and Manuel as well. These would be her three to train for the next Totem. Avikna herself thought on what Pokemon she'd use, opting to maybe stick with Lexera. Her Dragon-typing made her resistant to Fire-type moves. Dovakin was also one she planned to continue training as well, the weight of the tiny dragon's mother still on her soul. Ookoth was more or less in an... emergency button. Thinking of the dragon Avikna's eyes turned upwards towards the sky.
It had to be roughly mid-day, perhaps even dragging onto around 3 in the afternoon. Time certainly went by quickly with their desire to get the trail and badge battle complete.
