The sight of the little bird perched upon Sylva's shoulder made her companion chuckle a little, bringing to mind the image of the blonde trading her attire for something more akin to a pirate. "Then let's swing by! Maybe we'll even run into another rich guy in peril to get us a room for the night." With how often they'd been spending money on clothes, Luca wasn't sure if it'd be wise to suggest they pay for it themselves. Places like that had to be pretty expensive, she figured, so unless one came with the cruise or they could get a good deal for just the night or two they might spend on the island, they'll have to settle for just taking a look. She already started to turn back towards the exit when Sylva chimed in again, suggesting they start off by finding another map. "Sounds like a plan. If they aren't handing some out already there'll probably be some at the tourist center."
With a plan now in hand, Luca took the lead down through the main hall. By now the other passengers had stirred from their sleep, gathering to either fill up for the day ahead or get straight to the sightseeing. The rather... relaxed attire from the night before seemed to stick, whatever refinement the people had on their way to Alola now melted under the tropical heat. Just means less eyes on us, the swordswoman thought, as they passed some of the staff as they disembarked. With everything proceeding without incident, Lucatiel locked her gaze on the nearby terminal at the end of the docks, figuring that would be the best place to start in the search for a map. "Is there anywhere else you wanna go while we're here?" She stopped to ask, holding open the door for her friend. "Feels kinda rare for you to point out something you wanna go do, past hitting up all the gyms."

Nodding in agreement, Sylva agreed they'd find a map somewhere nearby. As they walked she mused about the idea of a resort stay... what one would actually entail. She was aware they couldn't afford one, most likely, but it was worth it just to visit one isn't it? Luca had made a joke about another man giving them a room for free, which was a nice thought but surely it would end up being coincidence if in fact that happened again.
Not long though, the two had finally made their way off the ship and onto the dock. It was busy with workers and a few tourists still going over their travel plans for the few days on the island they'd get. Luca thankfully, taking the lead found them a terminal area that could very well give them the full scale map they needed themselves. The blonde paused a moment as Luca opened a doorway, turning her gaze to the ocean waves and the small stretch of beach that quickly wrapped around a building. "Er.. well..." She was actually thinking over this question now. She was set on checking out a resort, what else was she free to do now? "Well, the map might give us some sight seeing hotspots." Sylva stated quickly, gathering herself and rushing over to a terminal.
The machine was already awake and waiting, flashing various shots of the island before vanishing to a screen with four large icons which one could touch. Hot spots, Food & Resturants, Gyms & Trials, and finally a full scale 3d map of the island. The first thing she spotted was the Volcano and the round pools of water both held an icon of a respective Trail Captain. "Wow, this island is like... three times the size of the other island." Sylva mused, her eyes flickering across the screen taking in the details. "Call me crazy, but that Volcano looks pretty cool." She stated. "Looks like, North'll lead us to the first trial which is this water pools, and the Volcano is number two." The last was at the northern corner, nesting in what appeared to be a thick jungle. It didn't take much to assume what type each area used. As for sightseeing spots, it looked like the trails took place in them. Save for the southern right side of the island where a large resort rested with it's own private beach and even what appeared to be a golf course. "We can make this place the end goal? Looks gaudy enough to be an interesting sight."

The swordswoman held back a small laugh at her companion's uncertainty. She had to wonder if Sylva wasn't used to having a particular goal in mind, or perhaps not following someone else's lead to places? Luca herself got by just because everything seemed to catch her eye, but now she was interested in where the former redhead might take her. Following them into the terminal, she let her companion handle the machine, peering over her before resting an arm against the machine. "Well, you've probably found the reason why the island is so large at least," she pointed out, shaking her head a bit. "Still, if the locals built a trial over it then they're probably of the same opinion."
Though her eyes began to wander about the 3D render, Lucatiel brought her attention towards what would be their end goal--A large, secluded resort just off from the main cities. It wouldn't be a terribly far walk to actually get to, but given that beaches were quite often a crowded venture, she could imagine that modecome of privacy was perhaps its largest selling point. "Looks good to me. Do you wanna follow that route through the pools then, or just head straight to that volcano park for the sights?" The trials might not've been much more than a good way to kill time while they were out here, they had started on the path already. Luca wasn't sure how dedicated Sylva might've been to finishing what she started.
In the meantime, the swordswoman started to drift away from the fancy machine, searching for a more portable diagram of the island. Since the terminal was more or less the entryway for most folks onto the island though, she wasn't too worried about there being any maps to take; the real trouble was simply finding one on the modest book rack that was pushed up against one of the walls. A few spaces were empty, and there were plenty of booklets with information that the kiosk was undoubtedly ready to dispense for them, but it took a bit for Luca to find a nice, foldable map on the inside of one of the brochures on offer. "Alright, found a good map finally. I'd say we're good to finally start our day now."

It was like a dam had broke open and a flood of possibilities washed over Sylva... there was almost to much to consider. Luca's question thankfully pulled her back above the flood, and made her narrow down her choices to their real objective for coming to the islands, to travel them. The trials, and gym battles were merely convenient stops to keep them moving. The large Volcano was appealing, after all she had to wonder just how active the volcano was for them to be so carefree about building trial even remotely close, she recalled the Volcano in Kanto and how it threatened to one day erupt, surely to engulf the tiny island that was Cinnabar. In the end she decided, just about the same time Luca had found them a detailed map of the island among the brochures. "Yea. I think it would be best to just stick with the route they suggest." Sylva stated motioning towards the various pools of water. "Brooklet Park, then the Volcano, then that Jungle. Looks like a ferry brings tourists back to this hotel, if we don't want to walk the long way around. to this motel." Sylva explained, pointing to the motel on the west side of the island, the one they were closest too. Later tracing her finger along the long route back tracking until they reached the larger resort on the east coast. This would be for the best, if by some strange reason it took them a whole week to get to the jungle, they didn't want to miss their boat after all.

The swordswoman half expected the young woman's head to start spinning off her neck, struggling with a decision until she spoke up. Luca's suggestion seemed to enough to give them direction, the decision being made to simply follow the path as intended. "Sounds good to me. It was settled, the path they'd take through the island was for the most part planned out. Though, who was to say what could happen. Sylva pursed her lip a bit at Luca's comment about her 'little Pidgey' BelAir also seemed a bit offended, puffing up his chest at that comment. It wasn't his fault she'd caught him and just left him to the sidelines until Sylva took him in. Perhaps that was one reason for BelAir's fondness of the blonde? Whatever the case, Sylva had to agree in the end. It would be nice to have a Pokemon capable of flight with a human on it's back. Even at her lightest, BelAir would be lucky to get Sylva off the ground. "Yea, well hopefully we can run into some Wild Pokemon for him to beat up." Sylva finally replied, turning her head a bit to catch BelAir's gaze. His feathers were still puffed up, but his gaze was a bit more relaxed.
Turning away from the terminal, Luca motioned towards the dock once more. Satisfied with their plan it was about time they acted on it. Once more though, Sylva had to puff a cheek at Luca's teasing. "I don't plan on any." She voiced. "Maybe I'll grow as tall and big as you and we can share clothes." She snarkily remarked, trying her best to tease Luca in return. Of course she spoke not only of height, but of other aspects of the female anatomy. Stepping out from the terminals' home, Sylva followed close beside Luca as the girls made their way into Heahea City. The sea-side dock feeling quickly transitioned into that of a proper tropical feeling. Palm tress wafting in the wind, decorative bushes with vibrant coloured flowers lining the decorative stone-paved road. A paradise for lack of a better word.

Luca thought nothing of her comment, only having spoken her mind as the thoughts came. She probably could've stood to have a bit more tact, but it was too late to walk it back now. Either way, they'd still both need a mode of transport, and Sylva's had just a bit of growing to do. "By the time we reach the jungle he'll probably have plenty to dig into." With how many grass- and bug-types that must've lived there, the little pigeon would have plenty of opportunity to bridge that last gap.
First though, the two of them would need to reach the jungle. Preferably without another bodily incident, as the swordswoman pointed out. She laughed a bit as the shorter woman jabbed back, though she didn't quite grasp the latter portion of the thought. "Be convenient at least, certainly save us one trip to the store." As they moved away from the docks Lucatiel lifted one of her arms, tugging gently on one of the sleeves covering her arms. Little of the fabric came with her grasp, only making the outline of what sat beneath marginally more snug. "Stuff's usually a tight fit, I tend to fill out most of my wardrobe."
As she missed the innuendo and assumed it had been a more bulky frame she'd been referring too, Luca did briefly wonder how such a transformation might look on her companion--whether that be her current or prior form. She was practically oblivious to whatever potential dangers that might arise from giving Sylva a more physical outlet.

BelAir could certainly feel the attention he was getting as the girls spoke about him getting in some battles. He did understand that his wings were weak and his attacks just as weak, but still the bird was eager to get in some battles of his own. He was done sitting on the sidelines. Sylva had to agree with Luca. There should be some good battles for him on the way, but the Jungle will certainly be where he shines. Though it wasn't only BelAir she wanted to train up to get stronger. She had to think on when they got back to Kanto, the badges there were what really mattered. At least in her mind they did. "Right. Who are you going to work on?" Sylva asked, a but curious. Luca's Pokemon looked powerful, and they were... but certainly there had to be some room for improvement?
On the subject of clothes, Sylva caught herself in a sigh as Luca seemed to miss the meaning behind her jab. There was just no winning with this woman was there? "That's not what I meant when I said big." She replied. Was it even worth trying to explain? The tease was already lost, explaining it would just sound rude. Wouldn't it? "Never mind." She sighed. "It would be convenient though, you're right there." Back in her old body, she'd had the height just not the proper weight proportions or chest to fill out Luca's attire, not that she'd ever wear something so low-cut like that, even her pageant gowns hadn't been that low cut.

Not once, throughout the entirety of this fiasco, had Jinx paid any attention to Sullivan's pokemon; she'd hardly acknowledged their presence. But now, with his rock dog circling them and growling at her, they had her full attention. Was it going to attack her?! Instinctively, she reached back for one of her pokeballs as sweat dripped down her forehead — jungles were humid, why hadn't anyone told her that jungles were humid?! — never once taking her eyes off the dog as she did so. The little salamander pokemon was close by, movement in her peripheral vision told her that, but it wasn't an immediate threat.
They didn't have time for this, the entrance was right there! Gritting her teeth as irritation set in, Jinx made to wave back at Sullivan in an attempt to grab his attention, but staggered forward instead as she was met with physical resistance. Then her feet left the ground as she was picked up, again. "Why'd you stop?!" She strained her body, or at least tried to, but quickly found that her best efforts of stretching towards the ground had zero effect. Left exasperated, she stopped moving only when she heard the sound of pen on paper, then waited for the inevitable note. When it was finally delivered she read over it with an expression akin to a dour pout, before pulling the pen from the journal's spine and writing her response. 'Fine.' Pen point hovering just above the paper, Jinx stopped to think. 'Put me back down, and let me walk over to one of those trees. I'll hold onto it, and you can try to pull yourself around, then we'll be side to side.'
Jinx waited a few seconds, giving herself time to think over her plan, before replacing the pen and handing Sullivan back his notebook. Feet still dangling off the ground she looked up at the sky as she waited for some sort of response: whether it be compliance, or the journal to be returned with an alternate idea. She let loose a relieved sigh when the former was chosen, pleased to no longer be dangling from the man's back like an overgrown backpack, before waddling herself over to the nearest tree. Flexing her fingers beforehand, Jinx wrapped her arms tightly around the trunk of the tree, letting the bark dig into her forearms and cheek, before tensing up her body in preparation.
What came next was a jerking sensation, heavy and sustained, as Sullivan forcibly moved himself from her back to her side. It felt as if they were pulling apart two magnets, with the force it took just to relocate, but eventually the deed was done and Jinx dropped her arms away. She rubbed her upper arm, or at least tried to, but quickly gave up when she realized that she only had free range of her left arm, the other had been re-stuck to Sullivan's.
At least they could walk normally.
Well, 'normal' was relative. Walking side by side was a definite improvement from the strained back-to-back, but... it was like one of those three-legged races — not that she'd ever actually participated in one, but it was basically the same thing — awkward, and slow; they certainly weren't 'racing' to anything. But, progress had been made! Improvements in position meant improvements in communication, and Jinx could actually tell Sullivan to lead the way to the nearest city. Which he did, it was just a tragically long one, from one route to the next, until they reached their destination.
From the straight path that served as Route 6, Jinx stopped to stare at the approaching city. It'd probably be smart to get some sort of plan in action before they got there. She waved to get Sullivan's attention. "Does this city have a lab, or some sort of tech-y building? If it does, that should be our first stop."

With position adjusted, Sullivan couldn't help but heave a relieved sigh of his own. A tint of red still lingered in his cheeks but it was able to start fading now that the situation was less compromising. He gave Jinx an awkwardly apologetic smile once they were able to see one another, attempting to lift his right arm only to realize that it was stuck to her.
Of all the events that he could imagine having to go through, this wasn't one of them. It might've been more bearable with someone he was on familiar terms with, but it was clear that attempting to be any level of familiar would just make this situation more awkward than it already was. Meekly he nodded as Jinx indicated they ought to find their way to a city and took the lead, taking a moment to soothe a disapproving Junpei as he caught sight of the agitated Rockruff. He had about 99 concerns running through his mind at that moment, he didn't need the pup to be one of them.
Once he was certain that Junpei wouldn't assault the poor woman (she'd been through enough) he took the lead, trying his best not to stumble much due to the hindrance of the pair being attached almost quite literally at the hip. Every attempt to put the slightest distance between himself and the young woman was thwarted by whatever mystical force tethered them together.
Eesh.
Sullivan jumped a bit as Jinx's hand waved in his vision; he’d been so out of it and frazzled, he hadn’t even realized he’d been moving on autopilot don the routes to Heahea City. It took a moment of blank staring to comprehend the words she was forming, having only really caught bits and pieces. Did she say something tech-y? Like a lab? That made sense: if there was anyone qualified to suggest what they were going through; it was someone of the scientific nature.
After a moment of intense thought, Sullivan bobbed his head in a nod at Jinx, raising a hand and pointing out towards a building that had an oversized satellite dish positioned right near it. They weren't that far from it, to be honest; a straightforward ten-minute walk if they went through the city-
Sullivan froze. He lived here as did most of his family. What if fate was cruel and he ran across one of them? What hope did he have to explain this situation? At a minimum, there'd be confusion and at max… well, that depended on who they ran into, but he could tell he wouldn't live it down. Ugh.
Right, well there were off ways to get there and it might've made the trip a little longer, but it'd take them to their destination all the same; and that was how they were going to get there. He glanced to Jinx and gave her a gentle tug to follow once she was ready, before leading the way towards one of the side streets, albeit at a slower pace than before, a sudden air of cautiousness to it. There were some things worse than being magnetically attached to some stranger you found in the forest... right?

Jinx's line of sight follow followed Sullivan's pointer finger to the building with the comically large satellite perched on it, and without meaning to her lips shaped a small, "oh." Yeah, that place screamed 'tech-y', in fact, Jinx wouldn't have been surprised if, at any moment, the satellite came to life and started waving its face towards the sky–like a metal sunflower–to receive some sort of... extraterrestrial signal. But, that didn't happen. Which was a shame. Still, after that stumbling and stalling shamble under the midday Alolan sun, she was easily persuaded to reach their final destination which just so happened to be in a (presumably) air-conditioned building.
So, when Sullivan didn't take a step with her to the promised land, Jinx didn't bother hiding her heavy, exasperated sigh. It wasn't as if he'd hear it anyway. She didn't wait until he tugged her, she readjusted her posture, turned her head back to her saddled-upon sidekick, and raised a pinched eyebrow at him. Jinx relaxed her expression after a moment, however. Sullivan wanted to change direction, not get her attention, even though it was towards a narrower road. And in the opposite direction of where they needed to go. Where he had pointed them.
Jinx complied after a few seconds and another, heavier, sigh. She was tired and hot, and sweaty; warm moisture clung to her skin, especially on the right side of her body – the stuck side, while beads of sweat collected over her brow until they grew fat enough to trickle down her smoldering face. So, the sooner they found someone who could fix this mess the better. But, the fastest, and therefore best, way to achieve that was to work together. It was almost funny: the same summer heat that was baking her already frayed nerves was also what allowed her to come to that conclusion.
Besides, Jinx was confident that she only needed her nondominant hand to take care of Sullivan, if he had any ulterior motives.
Since Sullivan was the local—at least, that's what Jinx assumed he was to know the roads, buildings, and side roads so effortlessly—the blue-haired woman let him lead the charge while she went into autopilot of sorts. She was still aware of their surroundings and would-be obstacles, but on a more subconscious level. There were far more important things that needed her attention.
They were making their way to P.H.D level nerds who'd no doubt know how to demagnetize them without frying their brains, that was good, but what came after that? Her mind was still a bit... fuzzy, but she thought she'd completed her assignment. So she needed to check back in with Kaeden.
What about her pokemon, were they all still there?
Sphene was loose. Jinx didn't know when, but at some point, the little weed had gotten himself loose and started throwing himself at any and every able-bodied creature. She could still see him now: a dark green blur turned into a dark blob that bobbed and weaved consistently out of the corner of her eye. Jinx absently ran her fingers over the three pokeballs that hung from her left hip: one was open, but the other two were closed. The open capsule was Sphene's, right beside his was Tanzanite's, and right beside hers was the newly caught and this-moment-named Apatite's.
She didn't bother trying to move her right arm, but she did wiggle her fingers down in the direction of the remaining three pokeballs. Towards Opal, Agate, and Lazurite. Everything felt in order, and Jinx was sure Sullivan wouldn't have been able to steal her pokemon even when he was only a few inches away from where they rested.
"Yo Double S, are you seein' dis?"
Jinx was still turning over ideas in her head, so she didn't exactly hear the conversation being started. Even when the speaker spoke out in a louder-than-conversational voice. And, she sorta acknowledged that there were two shapes ahead of them that stood out against the wall, just at the edges of her radar.
"Yeah. Sunburnt PDA over there thinks they can just use our streets without payin' the toll first."
The things that were just barely detailed blobs melted away from the wall to stand as two, more firmly defined obstacles in the road. Jinx blinked to realign her focus and stopped moving, forcing Sullivan to do the same whether he meant to or not. "What?" She stared at the two women ahead, eyes narrowing even before they moved back from left to right, then left, then right. They were around her age... maybe a little younger? The masks they wore over the bottom half of their faces made it hard to tell. Dressed in tank tops and ruffled shorts, with white beanies she could just barely see had some sort of logo... design(?) at the top. It was a cute outfit, Jinx would admit, but the fact that the... girls wore the exact same outfit spelled trouble.
"Move." She said it quickly, before either girl could speak and without a hint of politeness, but a gallon of restraint. Unfortunately, it didn’t have the effect she wanted.
"Huuuuh?" The single-syllable was forced out of her lungs as one of the beanie girls leaned forward dramatically. Despite the matching outfits, they were easy enough to tell apart: one girl had pale skin, much like Jinx’s, and bright pink hair, and her friend had a more tanned complex with tendrils of long, dark brown hair peeking out from underneath her hat. "Wuz dat, Blueberry?" Jinx ignored the nickname as she simultaneously scraped the bottom of her patience pail. "Move," she repeated herself with her teeth bared in the most hard-pressed and hard-tried of smiles. "Oh, sure. If das all you wanted den we'll gladly get movin'," the pink-haired one continued. There was an unspoken 'but' in the air. It hung there, just like the sneer in her voice.
"After you two pay da toll: ₽20 each. Oh, an' give us ya pokemon. Obviously."
Seconds passed after Pinky’s demands had been made; and Jinx let it. She needed that time to... let her face fall, and slowly turn her head to stare up at Sullivan. It would've been easy enough to confuse the look she wore as one of shock: the absolute blank expression paired with slightly wide eyes were convincing enough. But there was some intelligence in her gaze. She was working on something, chewing on an idea, and he seemed to be at the center of it, was all.
Who was she going to kill—that was the only way a day full of bullshit could end—MCs Overkill and TryTooHard first for throwing her over the edge? Or the Beanpole for getting her into this mess in the first place?

Sullivan kept any displays of relief constrained. He was grateful they weren’t going straight through the city, much as it elongated the trip. It only tacked on a few more minutes, they’d get there quickly with fewer prying eyes. That was the reasoning he used to keep his nerves down.
Because consciously he was aware of how painfully awkward the situation was. The sun was high in the sky and as a born and raised Alolan native, it normally wouldn’t have bothered him much, but he couldn’t help being hyper-aware of the heat. Sweat of his own led to damp spots, exasperated by being stuck had him wishing he could tug off his shirt top for some mild relief. But he didn’t much feel like risking getting stuck in some other unfortunate position. And even if that wasn’t a thing, he was positive Jinx wouldn’t enjoy whatever gymnastics would come from that.
Not that he imagined she enjoyed the situation much at all. He might’ve not been able to hear, but he could feel the tension in the air. It was thick and unnerving leaving him teetering on the edge. He felt bad, he really did. It’d never been his intention for any of this to happen nor did he still fully understand what was causing this phenomenon and was laser-focused on getting to the lab and having it assessed. He glanced back to assure that Junpei and Hani were keeping pace. Well, more so Hani at least, Junpei kept vigilantly at his non-occupied side, still on alert about the situation. The Salandit shuffled along after, interest everywhere but on the trouble, the two humans were dealing with. Well, at least he was staying close.
Sullivan hadn’t even acknowledged the figures up ahead, lurkers along the roads were hardly something to worry about in a peaceful place like Heahea. But then they came into view, and he audibly groaned as he recognized the uniforms. Skull members. Every region had its share of hooligans and Team Skull was Alola’s. Being innocuous didn’t stop them from being annoying though and as the pair moved to block their path, Sullivan couldn’t help but roll his eyes. Really? His steps stopped as Jinx did, startled at the forcefulness. He’d missed the first bits of conversation, focusing between the women as he tried to pick up on what was being said. The hints of accent hindered his abilities to read their lips, but the combo of a sneer and extended hand made it evident enough what was happening: they wanted something.
Sullivan was ready to just push past them, the team wasn’t exactly known for being dangerous. His gaze shifted to Jinx to indicate such, freezing as the hairs on the back of his neck shot up at the look she was giving. He’d seen that look from his younger siblings before, usually right before things went straight to hell. Jinx was upset, but he couldn’t gauge just what resolution she was seeking as a result.
"Ya heard my friend, blue boi. Hand over ya wallet and your pokemon," the brown-haired Skull girl said, eyes already focused on an alert Junpei. "Look at the cute lil’ rock dog! I always wanted one of those-" she knelt towards him as though to scoop him up. Junpei jumped from his stance and snapped at her, earning a violent squeal as the girl fell back in shock. Sullivan’s attention snapped back as he saw the commotion out the corner of his eye.
"How dare ya! Did you see that?!" She cried, scrambling back to her feet and glaring at the pair before addressing her companion. "He let his pooch snap at me!" Another huff and she was pulling out a pokeball. "Forget lettin’em pay! I say we just take their wallets and pokemon instead, they don’ look that strong anyways."
Sullivan's whole body shuddered, a grimace crossing his face. He deliberately avoided looking at Jinx as the brunette unleashed a pokemon in retaliation for Junpei’s aggression, which only aggravated the Rockruff more. He was certain dragging them into a battle wasn’t going to garner him any points in this matter…

If she'd been in any other, less homicidal mood, seeing someone practically leap away from a dog would've made her laugh, especially when that someone deserved it. But she didn't find it funny right then, and neither did the brunette's friend.
"Aye!" She barked at Sullivan, indignation wrapped in black and pink. "Teach your mutt some manners!" With her ironic demand still echoing down the corridor, the bright-haired thug nodded along to her friend's suggestion, already reaching back to grab something just behind her back. Probably a Pokeball. "Les show dese tourists what it really means da be blue! No one disrespects Team Skull an' gets away with it!"
Even with a very obvious lead-up, Jinx still expected Pinky to pull out a gun rather than a Pokeball; it seemed more fitting for a dark alley. But, then again, it was mid-afternoon, and the 'alley' was more like a side street, and she was still playing catch-up to this whole 'trainer life'. She'd need more time to adapt.
"Let's leave 'em hurtin'!"
Sullivan had already sent out his pokemon; technically, the pokemon had sent itself out: the little rock dog that'd ignited things.
"Come on out, Deino!"
Outside of those regulated gym battles, had she ever fought another trainer before? That question did her no good here. Moving more on instinct than thought, Jinx grabbed for one of her available pokeballs a breath after Pinky had launched hers, releasing a furry dragon with a surprisingly graceful toss. Unlike Jinx's, which was more of a 'lob' than a toss and smacked the Deino directly in the face. Projectile and accidental target knocked back before a bright light spewed forth from the former and the Deino found ice-encrusted fangs digging into the same, sore spot its owner's pokeball had assaulted it.
Lazurite bit down on her target, then harder still when she felt it move and squirm underneath her as she landed on the ground beside Junpei with a solid thud and an upheaval of dust and dirt. She had absolutely no idea what she was arriving into, and frankly, she didn't care; the situation didn't matter when she already knew what she had to do. Refusing to give up her prey, she snapped her head back and forth, carrying her weight as easily as if it were a can before one particular swing saw her lose her grip and the eager shark felt her prey slip away. The Deino soared through the air, hit a wall, and crumbled into a heap that it did not rise from.
A look of surprise and delight flashed across Jinx's face before she remembered herself, then forgot herself just as quickly as the fading echoes of the Deino's crash were lost to a string of curses from its trainer.
Oh yeah, she'd absolutely meant to do that.

Keeping up with their words might’ve been difficult, but the Skull girls’ actions were enough to track the situation. The pink-haired skull didn’t hesitate to add her to the fray and Sullivan stiffened in concern. It was one thing to deal with a single battle but splitting his attention between two was a handful.
Which made the quick takedown of Sugar’s pokemon surprising. He felt Jinx shifting as she chucked her ball and blanked at the sight of it smacking right into the opposing pokemon’s face. That was different. You saw that kind of thing with inexperienced trainers who couldn’t quite gauge where they ought to be throwing. He glanced at Jinx in slight confusion; she didn’t seem like a new trainer or anything.
Not that he had a chance to wonder further on it. New or not, her team was ruthless, and to say he was stunned was an understatement. He’d managed to blink maybe once before the Dieno went from standing at the ready, to a crumpled heap beneath a crumbling dent in the wall. Sullivan flinched, glancing at the odd shark (was it a shark? That brought back a memory or two) Jinx had sent to fight. He’d never seen a pokemon like that before, but it also vaguely made him think of Kairi, maybe it was an off-branch type or something?
Pink squealed in horror for her friend’s pokemon, just as distracted in the moment as Sullivan. Junpei wasn’t though and took advantage of the opening provided. The Rockruff bolted forward and up into the air, landing a foot before the Marieane. The ground below its feet rumbled and cracked before a sheering force of debris and rock struck up and through its entire form. The anemone-looking pokemon only managed a squeal before collapsing backward.
"Yo! You jerks!" Pink yelled as her attention was brought back to her own battle. She scrambled to return it, glaring daggers between Junpei and their trainers. "You’ve got some nerve, ya know? Ya won’t get away with that! Show’em Lurie!" She snapped as another pokeball was unleashed and another flash brought out a new opponent.

Sugar scowled so hard you could the outline of her expression against her mask as Pink's Mareanie hit the floor as fast as her Deino, maybe even faster. But she had a bigger issue that had to be dealt with. Sugar set Jinx with a hard glare. "Fine den. If you wanna cheat.." There was a low warning in her voice, and as she cocked her shoulder back, capsule at the ready, she took the time to nudge her friend's shoulder conspiratorially to mime some motion Jinx missed.
"Les treat 'em to a real show, Tox! Really whale on 'em!"
The pokeball turned over in the air at an arch, popped open with a beguiling ping, and out came an electric guitar— the sounds of one. No, the sound of one; singular, because it wasn't a song but a single, solitary note that was getting progressively louder. The gangly, dark purple and yellow pokemon stood tall, practically dwarfing its insectoid partner, amongst flickering molts of electricity whipped about by its windmilling arm. With its head cocked high the pokemon made a point of meeting the eyes of the two opposing trainers right before it clawed its chest with a dramatic, downward sweep; much like a guitarist would.
Jinx could feel that note in her bones and scalp simultaneously tingle as looser strands of hair started to stand, all while a distant, high-pitched ringing in her ears played the brief role of 'background music'. She wasn't the only one reeling from the shock of the attack, though: Lazurite flopped helplessly on the ground and kept writhing in pain as 'Tox' whaled on its chest to send out another 95 decibels, electric attack.
But that was as far as it got.
In the wake of the rockstar gremlin's attack, Lazurite propelled up, a good foot into the air, to sink rows of frosty teeth into its flesh, right around its wrist. She hung off its arm, the world's heaviest bracelet, while a thin layer of ice sprouted from the point of contact and continued on; when Lazurite dropped back to the earth like a sack of potatoes she flopped down to the feet of a Tox ice statue.
Once it was abundantly clear that the little shark could handle herself, Jinx felt her shoulders sag with relief; just a half an inch. The second battle had been off to a rocky start but Lazurite knew what she was doing, and had the strength to assure that, even with the addition of pokemon, the two girls stayed a non-threat. Something Sullivan already seemed aware of.
Jinx hadn't been receptive to it before, which could be expected from someone who'd been literal seconds away from giving Heahea police detectives a new crime scene to pour over, but Sullivan hadn't been afraid when they'd first been accosted nor now. She gave him a quick, corner-of-the-eye glance to confirm the latter. And that was a surprise, considering how timid the giant of a man came off as.
So, what? He had experience dealing with these weirdos? Was he an ex-weirdo? A mountain of questions was starting to pile onto her tongue before she begrudgingly swallowed them down. As harmless as they were, a battle wasn't the best place to play 21 questions, and trading a notebook back and forth was too time-consuming.
Later then, and with tools from this century. If her curiosity for something that wasn't a weapon, and someone that wasn't Kaeden held long enough.
