Lafayette just laughed, cheeky grin flashing in Mel’s direction once more. Clearly, he found humor in her remarks, though was silent as he gave her a good eyeing over. "I suppose I got somethin’ ta worreh ‘bout." He commented, giving a thumbs up in response. He still very much was looking to that sparring match and while the show down with Z might’ve not been in his favor, he felt he’d do a little more favorably against his same species. He glanced at Brian curiously as the man was called out for his grumbling, curious what he’d said but missing it all the same.
As they moved along onto the docks, Lafayette took to observing the area, though glanced back at Mel at her question. He was quiet, looking to consider the question with ernest before finally giving a shrug. "Talk, yeh? See wha’ they were afta’, yeh know?" He jerked a head in Brian’s direction, "sure yeh mate would like a lil’ vengeance yeh? ‘Sides, yeh coppa’ Mello, ain’ yeh got a duty to stop’em?" Given the attitude to his early actions, Lafayette didn’t feel it was entirely correct to point out that he very well might get physical in his supposed search for answers. He was also a bit curious about these supposed thugs as it was; he didn’t quite know all that much about Alola after all.

By the time he'd made the trip back to Heahea City Huey had regained some semblance of self, enough so that he could lift his head up and watch where he was going. There was nothing he could do about the heavy feeling in his chest though, or the building sense of dread that made him want to crawl underneath a rock to hide. Thankfully his 'condition' wasn't so abysmal that he couldn't make it to the Pokemon Center, and after handing over the pokemon who'd battled over to Nurse Joy, Huey sat himself down and did his best to focus on his breathing. He felt silly, getting so... worked up about a stupid ball, but as much as he tried to reason with himself, his racing heart didn't calm down nor did the idea of actually attending become any more appealing to him. Maybe he shouldn't go, Riley was probably fine. But, as much as there was a chance for her to have fun and be safe, there was also a (slim) chance that she was in danger, and it was the latter that he became preoccupied with.
He hardly looked up when Cloud patted his leg, though he did muster up the smallest of smiles, grateful for his continual support and overall presence. The little Togepi had been with him for a while now, and in fact had been with him... during. Huey, taking one more 'big boy breath', slowly slid himself from off the chair and back onto the ground, then picked Cloud back up and hugged him to himself. The pokemon didn't question it, humming contently as he swung his tiny feet into the air. "We should find out more about this ball..." Huey muttered, more to himself than to anyone else, and yet it attraction the attention of a well-dressed gentleman and his, matching, Kadabra. "Excuse me, young sir." Huey looked up as the stranger approached, suspicion written along his face, "...yes?" The butler, unperturbed, dipped into a deep bow before speaking, "forgive my intrusion, but I overhead you make mention of a ball. You wouldn't happen to be referring to my young master's soiree?" From deep within the man's pockets, he retrieved an invitation, its envelope a light champagne color and elegant even to Huey's unrefined eyes.
Huey eyed the man, his invitation, and his pokemon, with a wariness that refused to simmer away. He didn't know what a 'soiree' was, but... "Is it held in a palace in Kalos?" he questioned. The butler nodded his head, and smiled. "Why yes, it is! Parfum Palace. My word, I've only been here for an hour, I did not expect word to travel so quickly..." he mused, and momentarily became distracted. "Ah!" He regained his bearings after a moment, memory jogged by the soft glare Huey had begun to set onto him. "The master has so humbly invited all to attend, granted they are dressed in the proper attire. If you would like, I could have my Kadabra tele--""No." Huey interrupted sharply, sharper than needed. Cloud looked up at him. "I'll find a way there myself," he explained, an apology far from his thoughts. With the information gained, Huey turned away stiffly and headed back to the counter to wait for his pokemon, leaving a perplexed butler in his wake. "What an uncouth child..."

It wasn't until several minutes later that Huey had his pokemon returned, enough time for him to formulate a plan of action. He'd already looked up where Parfum Palace was in Kalos, and while it was a great distance from Alola, he imagined he could fly there, with stops along the way; it was inconvenient, and much slower than teleportation, but he refused to resort to that form of transportation. It was too close of a reminder. With transportation secured, all he needed to worry about now was 'dressing in the proper attire' as the butler had putted, which he figured meant he needed to dress up all nice. Which was something he'd... done only once, and that was to a cousin's wedding he'd gone to, about two years ago. He doubted he'd be able to fit it now, and even if he did he couldn't just pop on home and grab it. Well, he could, but if he went home he'd probably lose his nerve and just camp out there.
So, that left him with only one option: buying a suit, of some kind. He wasn't exactly sure what 'proper attire' entailed, he just knew it couldn't be what he was wearing now. Once Huey had his pokemon back he headed back outside, ignoring the butler on his way, and did his best to search out a clothing store. One was easily located, easier than finding an actual outfit, he came to find. It didn't help that he didn't actually do his own shopping, that was a job still reserved for his parents, but as he looked upon the rows of options before him Huey felt more than a little lost. He stood there, rocking back and forth on his feet, and couldn't help but to feel a little silly--why did he even have to buy a suit!?--but he was quick to realize he couldn't just stand there all day, he needed to get going. So, with few choices available to him, he turned to his pokemon for their help; it was a bit silly, but maybe they'd have an idea of what to wear.
"...You want my help in picking out a suit?" Tybalt did poorly in hiding the incredulity in his voice, and as he stood there, still and body together to take up as little room as possible, he tossed a lost look over the children's section. Huey nodded his head, already regretting every choice that had led up to this very moment. "I... Huey... I'm willing to try, but I know nothing about human fashion. I'm afraid any choice I made would make you look silly." He wasn't even going to ask why his trainer needed a suit, or he was but... later. From behind him, and with a very different attitude, Yuki brushed through small waistcoats and matching shirts with speed, dressing up her little human was a dream come true. "Huey, what do you think about this?" Yuki asked, breezing past Tybalt to present to the boy a white dress shirt with an accompanying black vest, "I think you'd look absolutely adorable in this match-up~" Tybalt grit his teeth, and pretended not to be aware of the self-satisfaction that radiated off of Yuki in waves. For once, she was succeeding in an area that he fell short in, and she was lapping it up.
Well, he wouldn't have it. He could accept his short-comings in human fashion, but he wasn't about to just standby while Yuki rubbed it in his face. "Actually." Quick as lightning, the mega Gallade snatched the vest from Yuki's grasp and returned it to the rack she'd found it from. "I believe a lighter color would better suit him. Wouldn't you agree, Huey?" Huey, already able to feel tension starting to brew, only managed a nervous smile before he shrugged. "I... think anything that fits would be nice," he offered, but for once his suggestion went ignored. An hour and a half of bickering later and a suit that Tybalt, Yuki, and Cloud all agreed on had been found, the latter voicing his opinion ten minutes in, once he'd discovered that blue suits existed.
After ensuring that the outfit fit, Huey took it to the cash register to be rung up, and afterwards he carefully folded it away into his bag, to be put on once he was closer to his destination. "Cloud, you should say goodbye to your friend now," Huey suggested after they left store, Tybalt and Yuki returned, and he was saddling Belle up for their trip. "We'll be, uhm, too busy for you to talk to her when we get there, and I don't want you texting while we're in the air." Cloud nodded, a tad disappointed but understanding, and quickly sent Cheri a text before he toddled over to Huey. He handed him his communicator back, and with his hands free he shoved them into the air. "Let's go~!" He cheered. Huey nodded firmly, slipped his communicator into the smaller section of his bag, then picked Cloud up before climbing onto Belle. He hoped all the effort he'd put forth was worth it...

Mel smirked confidently at the remark. Good. It was a bit reassuring to know he had some modesty-- or at least, he could compliment a lady on her ability to potentially beat him down. Her grin faded some at the more pressing concern of their present task, though, and she dared venture to ask what her companion's actual intentions were. When Lafayette actually answered, even Brian glanced back, clearly listening. Which allowed him to miss the two goons that were now in sight, towards the end of the docks, squinting at the group as if trying to recall why one of them looked familiar.
Mel blinked, a bit caught off guard by that response. It was.... sensible. Surprisingly sensible. She gave a wary glance to Brian at the idea of vengeance, though, and was about to express her doubts, when Brian shrugged. "I wouldn't mind tossing them into the ocean before we call the local authorities...." he replied casually. Mel gave him another look, this time uncertain whether he was serious. She looked back at Lafayette thoughtfully at his final point, though. "True.... Though we should let the locals handle it," she admitted, before smiling, "But it wouldn't hurt to learn about them beforehand." And maybe Brian could get his revenge, and Lala could get a little of his own ness out, too.
She looked over to the docks, frowning at the figures that were becoming more apparent, talking to one another, and looking at them. "... That them, Bri?" she asked. The brunette glanced over, and his expression gave it away; that was them.

Lafayette gave a solid nod as Mel seemed content with his answer. At least the first part, when he mentioned the revenge antics, that seemed to cause a little more pause. He scoffed at her remark that they let the locals handle it. "An’ let them have all tha’ fun, sheila? Hell nah," he remarked, refraining from adding on that local officials hardly actually did anything in regards to criminals in the first place. Seriously, there were how many teams? And they’d stopped their actions how many times? Yeah, the police were doing such a swimming job in the field of stopping criminals, true facts.
He did flash Brian a grin though as he seemed to side with the idea of tossing the fools into the local drink, rather pleased that the man seemed willing to get in on the revenge situation. And even Mel came around on the thought it seemed. A little bit. He paused at the docks, looking around and catching a notice of the two individuals lingering down at the end, casing them out. He frowned, head tilting as he waited from a response from Brian, glancing at the other man just in time to see the expression that gave it away. Well alright then. Lafayette rolled his shoulders, cracking his neck before looking to Mel.
"A’igh’ Mello… since you all ‘bout yabbin’… you wanna try talkin’ first?" He queried, deciding to give Mel once chance to handle this in the manner she thought was appropriate before stalking in how he felt. Really, this was likely the only time talking willingly was going to be an option.

"Actually, Lala, why don't you take over?" she remarked, before giving a smirk as she crossed her arms over her chest. "I'm curious to see how you'd handle these two, exactly." If he was suspicious, she could joke that she wanted to see what he was capable of for their match tomorrow, but really, it was more she wanted to see what he was capable of in general. She would intervene if things got too out of hand with the thugs, but they had mugged her best friend, and she hoped Lala would mostly aim to just rough them up, and toss them in the ocean. And then she could notify the authorities to come and get them, hopefully.

Lafayette stared down Mel for a good minute, waiting to see if there was some catch to her permissions that he’d received. It became clear though that there wasn’t any and a cheeky grin blossomed across his face. "Oh yeh? Well then, gimme a min’ an’ I show yeh." He remarked, cracking his neck and rolling his shoulders before sauntering towards the pair hooligans. Noah paused, having silently been tailing the trainers this entire time, a paw over his mouth as he seemed to consider whether to follow or not. Eventually the Dewott decided he had a duty to be at his trainer’s side and quickly waddled after, chest puffing out to mirror the level of toughness that Lafayette himself displayed as he approached.
The pair of thugs, who at this point understood they were being watched, turned their attention as the Aussie approached, clear looks of apprehension on their faces as they looked him over. Lafayette came to a halt only a few feet from them, a standard cheeky smile on his face. "’G’day mates. ‘Ow yeh goin’?" He inquired with a rather polite tone. The two thugs looked between one another apprehensively, before the first, a taller young man, threw up some odd gang sign gestures. ”Yo yo, don’t be tryin’ to front with us fool! We know they are!” The thug gestured over Lafayette’s shoulder in the direction of Mel and Brian. The blonde’s smirk just grew a little. "Yeh mate? Then yeh don’ mind me askin’ why yeh ******** with the bloke then?"
The shorter thug huffed, throwing up his own flurry of hand gang gestures. ”Yo homey why you care? What you his mom or somethin’?” Lafayette’s grin diminished to an unimpressed smile, squaring a mix-matched on the smaller thug. The man seemed to stiffen at the look, pausing before getting more aggressive with the hand throwing, trying to intimidate further. ”Yo yo, you better step off or we’ll mess you up the same!””Yeh you one armed freak! Go back to your wuss squad over there!” The other joined, stepping forward and giving Lafayette a shove back to add to the intimidation attempt.
The Aussie stumbled back only a step, gaze narrowing in immediate annoyance. The air seemed to grow heavy as he straightened up and stared the two down. The two thugs tensed and if there was a second in which they regretted this decision, they didn’t have a chance to think about it. The pusher opened his mouth to comment again before promptly being silenced with a solid punch square to the face. He yelped loudly as he was basically flung backwards like a rag doll, stumbling, and eventually toppling over the edge of the dock. "Dun touch me mate." Lafayette growled as he corrected himself, glaring at the smaller thug who stood stunned in the moment. That didn’t last long as he foolishly retaliated.
”Yo man bug off!” the grunt growled, throwing a sucker punch from the side. Lafayette glared and made to block… only to remember that the arm he needed to do so was no longer there. He grunted as he took the blow to the face, pretty much in the nose, stumbling back just slightly and swiping the trickle of blood that resulted.
"Mm… nah mate." The Aussie spat, before lunging forth and delivering a solid side kick to the man. Honestly, the fighting lasted no more than two minutes. It didn’t take Lafayette that long to figure out a work around for his lack of an arm limb; simply that he needed to use other limbs instead. And while he had a pretty powerful punch, his kicks were just as powerful and in no time flat, the other individual was curled in a ball, clutching the newly forming bruise located at gut level.
Lafayette cracked his neck, eyeing the one at his feet before stepping back. "Well mates, noice chattin’ with yeh. Don’ go ********’ with others if yeh can’ put up, alrigh’?" He gave a cheeky grin and nudging kick which earned a return groan. Brushing the blood from his own face (not that he seemed to phase by the nose punch) he returned to Mel and Brian, giving a grin and a jerk of his head. "Sorreh sheila, they jus’ didn’ seem the chattin’ types." He remarked, as though this were some kind of excuse to his immediate choice to beat the pair down. Of course, they’d seen that they threw the first punch, right? So, he was totally in the right to defend himself.
Maybe.
"Sorreh Bri, did you wanna give’em a lickin’?" The Aussie inquired as he swiped more blood from under his nose, looking more annoyed at the bleeding than anything else. Well, he’d certainly need a new shirt at this rate which, honestly, was alright with him. In fact, he didn’t hesitate to pull it off and use it as a rag to start soaking up the bleeding. Least the ugly thing was of some use.

Mel smirked some in amusement, though she tried to hide her wariness as she looked at Lala. She waited until he had turned and gone off to approach the thugs, before her expression melted some into concern. "This oughta be good," Brian remarked absently, crossing his arms over his chest as he stared after the man with half open eyes. She gave him a cross, disapproving look. "Oh, come off it, Brian. He's not--""They're fighting," Brian interrupted, pointing, "Or they're sure as hell about to." Mel's gaze instantly snapped to the group, eyes wide at just how... fast, that happened. Brian was being pre-emptive, all she could see was a cold stand off, but... sure enough, Lala quickly threw a punch. She winced. "If it helps, they pushed him first," Brian remarked, sounding like he doubted very much that it did-- or perhaps, that it didn't to him. Not that he cared nearly as much as she did.
She glanced nervously at him, but turned to watch, closing one eye sympathetically as Lala took a hit in return. She sighed, resigned to the fight, and pulled out her communicator to try and start getting the contact information of the police here. Yes, okay, she was being a terrible police officer here, but she was off the clock, and they were worse to let these thugs run around. Seriously! They were just a bunch of punks! At least the villains roaming her region were an actual organization. She put the communicator away, eying Lala as he approached, a resigned look on her face, before she managed a little smile. "So I saw...." she replied, running a hand back through her hair. She gave a slight, teasing look. "Though, neither are you, are you Lala?" It was a tired joke, but playful nonetheless. Brian was still staring after the two, but shrugged at the question, dropping his hands. "Little disappointed they didn't both end up in the water, but nah, it's fine," he replied back, ignoring the side glare Mel sent him.
She looked a bit nervous as she brought her gaze back, though, and turned, absently chewing on her thumb nail as she started walking back down the walkway. Brian looked after her, but glanced back to Lafayette, eying him as he mopped up the blood. ".... Don't mind her, I'm sure she's just nervous about having to fight you, now," he remarked flatly, though.... at least it was maybe supposed to be a joking comment? He hadn't exactly shown a lot of tone inflection around Lala in general, after all.

Lafayette gave a little sniffle through the fabric of his shirt, making a bit of a face as the slight taste of copper hinted at the back of his throat. Still though, he was able to drop it a bit to clear his face and give Mel a grin at her astute observation of his quality ‘interrogation of those thugs’.
"Wha’? I promise, I gave’em a chance to talk," he commented with a bit of a cheeky look; yeah he’d certainly given them a chance. A whole ten seconds. He glanced to Brian as the man remarked and his grin returned, laughing at the response. "Ah well sorreh mate. Mahbeh next time, ‘ssumin’ there is one."Which as much as he would’ve enjoyed, would need to wait until he wasn’t bleeding from his face.

Mel wasn’t prone to doing that, that much the Aussie had figured. Well, the thing with Z had been a little underhanded but given his attitude at the time, he could sort of understand her motive. Sort of.

Brian raised an eyebrow at Lafayette's claim. He took a second to interpret it, but quirked his other brow once he did. "'Not right'?" he repeated dubiously, a bit caught off guard by the... chivalry? Sexism? .... Ignorance? Then again, the guy was.... well, seemed, a bit dense. Maybe he thought the typical guy thought, to go easy on a girl? He must not have known Mel well, though, then, not that Brian suspected anything else. Or, maybe he was just misinterpreting the remark....
Mel blinked, glancing up in surprise, and quickly drawing her hand into herself at Lala's question. "Hm?" She also took a moment to catch on, though not because of his accent. She smiled, though, when she registered the question, and gave him a nudge with her arm. "Yeh'd be so lucky. Don' worry, I'm not plannin' to back out. I still fully look forward to our little sparring match tomorrow, Lala," she reassured him. She just hoped it didn't end up with her putting him in cuffs or anything.... She'd already seen him when he got riled up, stuck in his own anger. It was like the walls went up around his brain and any capacity to think rationally went out the window... it would be fascinating, if he also wasn't clearly a potential threat to those around him. Should she feel bad for enjoying his company anyway? Lala was funny, light, conversational...

Lafayette glanced at Brian briefly at the comment of ‘not right’ blinking and cocking an eyebrow curiously. "Yeh mate. It’s a friendleh blue afta’ all," he gave a little snort and thumbed his nose before giving a big grin, "yeh ain’ suppose ‘ta be tryin’ ta kill one anotha’ in a friendleh blue." That was fairly simple to understand, right? He certainly thought so.
With that out of the way, he’d moved along to questioning Mel and gave a chuckle as she nudged him. "Well good! Wouldn’ wanna think yeh afraid!" Lafayette teased, giving her a gentle nudge back. At about this point, he’d managed to stop the bleeding from his nose and so resorted to carrying the now bloodied tourist shirt in hand. He perked up at the mention of food, grin growing again in excitement. Food? Sure, they’d eaten what… hours ago or so? But all that fighting had certainly worked up his appetite for a bite or two.
"Oh? Yeh, sure Mello! I could use a lil’ grubbin’." He chimed, looking rather pleased that this was the outcome that resulted from this excursion. To be a little honest, it wasn’t what he expecting but who was he to second guess? There was a chance at food after all and who could deny that. "Anythin’ yeh realleh interested in sheila?"

Brian visibly made a face as Lala thumbed his nose. Didn't that.... hurt? He was pretty sure he could still see blood smeared on his face... He shook his head, though, dismissing the conversation but accepting the conversation. That made sense, and meant he'd sort of misunderstood. It was good to hear that Lala wasn't planning on exactly holding back, though-- rather, he just wasn't going to for the kill. It made him wonder what might have happened if those two had put up more of a fight, though....
Mel was doing a better job at moving away from such concerning thoughts. She smirked confidently at Lala's jest. "Oh, don' worry, I'm definitely not afraid," she replied, a challenging glint to her eyes. She dropped her competitive edge as the conversation turned towards food, and she shrugged, beginning to survey their surroundings. "Not especially, though a burger sounds good. You cravin' anythin'? We could just drop into a restaurant if you're not feelin' picky," she remarked, eying a local restaurant. It was starting to get a bit late, so maybe they could get their food to go and head back to the hotel? Though, she didn't imagine it took Lala very long to eat, given... him.

Lafayette didn't even notice the face that Brian gave him for his actions; honestly if the pain in his face was bothering the Aussie was doing a good job of not showing it. Which really, at this point it'd numbed just enough that flicking his nose didn't even bother him. Lafayette got over injury fast. Probably too fast.
He beamed a grin, happy to hear that Mel was not afraid of their friendly spar match to come. "G'd a hear! Woulda' been roigh' sad if yeh were." He remarked, giving her a nudge with his elbow as he did. He looked thoughtful for a moment as the conversation turned to food, seeming to look rather enticed by the idea of well... something containing meat. "Mmm.... could go fah a burgah..." he remarked, looking in the same direction as Mel, noting the restaurant she was eyeing up. "Well then! Les' go fah it sheila. Getting' late an' all." Lafayette let out with a jovial tone, starting his way immediately for the place in question.
Noah blinked, paw still over his mouth, seeming to try and figure out this whole interaction. He was a little concerned that his trainer had yet to get his wounds tended but then again... he'd seen Lafayette like this before. Eventually he decided he didn't need to worry, puffing his chest out and quickly toddling after his trainer. Lafayette didn't hesitate to find a spare booth for them to sit at, plopping himself down and snagging up one of the small menus already resting on the table. He waited for one of the waiters to come around, gesturing for Mel and Brian to order first; he'd follow their lead at this point, more focused on interpreting the pictures on the menu and deciding what looked good. You had to be careful at restaurants, even the non-fancy ones, that much he knew.

She couldn't really help it-- Mel outright laughed at that. "Oh, I have a hard time imagining tha'," she remarked with amusement, smirking over at him. If anything, he'd probably be disappointed at just not being able to get more of his testosterone out. Still, she did look forward to the fight, however it may end up going. Her expression softened some at his interest in a hamburger, and they headed for the restaurant, with Brian trailing along, hands in the pockets of his jacket, his hood up.
She slid into the booth and grabbed a menu, looking over it curiously, before making her selection. Brian still seemed deep in thought, even as the waiter approached. Mel, however, looked questioningly at Lala, noticing his concentration. And then remembering his... well, disability was perhaps too strong a word, but still. She held her tongue, not wanting to offend him, and especially not in front of Brian, and turned to the waiter to order, ironically, a hawaiin-style hamburger with pineapple. Brian settled on a chicken salad, while Lucy curiously perused the menu herself. Glancing at her, Mel silently reminded herself she would need to get her pokemon some food, too.... but that could come once they got to thte hotel.

The Aussie's focus remained mostly on the menu, only glancing up briefly as Mel and Brian (who he gave a bit of an odd look, seeing as how the fellow was sitting there with his hood up like a thug... or some downer bum) before turning his attention to the waiter. He made a face at the 'hawaiian burger' thing –who put fruit on a burger? Ham maybe, but BEEF?- but shook it off, sticking with the classical BBQ burger that was listed. Noah was staring thoughtfully at the menu as well but seemed rather full from the meal they'd had earlier.
"So Mello what'chu up ta afta' yeh lil' vaccy?" Lafayette inquired to fill the time as they waited on their food, a hand on Noah's head absently patting the Dewott as he waited for a response. He was a bit wondering when he'd have to go back to work as well, Juliean was a slave driver and the fact that he'd even allowed the blonde an hour of freedom was starting to make him antsy. It wasn't long before their food finally showed up and like a greedy b*****d the Aussie immediately dug in, shoving the fries over for Noah to partake of if he was so inclined.
