Huey looked around the dock area, his intention to try and locate some area that would feasibly dole out maps. That was his intention, but in the process he became distracted by the latest ship docking, and instead he began to watch its passengers disembark; for no other reason than it was movement and of marginal interest. He was still people-watching when his attention snagged on a young blonde, around his age, moving hurriedly through the crowd and making for the city. Huey looked at him, taking in his appearance and his accompanying pokemon.
It was the latter that made him linger, and more specifically the small, glowing pokemon wrapped around his wrist. He'd never seen a pokemon like that before, and it intrigued him. Huey was tempted to call out to the boy and ask about the species of the pokemon, but... ah, he wasn't used to approaching individuals, not unless he had to. Not to mention, the boy seemed like he was in a hurry. It'd be rude to just intercept him, wouldn't it? But... what if he never got this sort of chance again? As a breeder-in-training, it was his duty to know every pokemon, wasn't it? How else would he be able to care for them. But....
While Huey went back and forth on whether or not to approach the stranger, Cloud chirped happily as Huey's communicator went off. A reply from Cheri, already? She was so fast! As eager as he was to reply, the Togepi paused and looked directly up at his trainer. With Psychic in his arsenal, he had started to pick up on the thoughts of those around him, that accompanied with his natural empathetic sensors he could not only feel Huey's, light, distress, he knew where it originated from. In this case, it came from the idea of approaching someone, a kid with a hat! Why was Huey stressing himself because of this? Because he didn't know if he should approach him? Well, he could fix that!
"Don't worry, Huebert! I've got this!" Cloud assured, confusing the boy, before he hastily toddled over to the other boy. "Hello! Hat kid!" Sending forth a telepathic greeting, Cloud stopped directly in front of Adder before jumping into the air for added effect, now he'd definitely catch his attention. "My Hubert! He wants to talk to you!" he explained, right as Huey hurriedly joined in and scooped his pokemon up. He shuffled himself awkwardly, grateful for Cloud's 'help' but embarrassed all the same. "Uhm, I'm sorry, about... Cloud." He turned to look at the other. "I just... your wrist. On your wrist, I mean. What kind of pokemon is that? I've... never seen it before." Ah, yes... that was a coherent sentence.
Cloud, in the meantime, was feeling rather proud of himself. Here he'd gone and helped his trainer meet a new friend! He deserved a reward, he felt, and that reward would be replying to Cheri. Snuggling into the crook of Huey's arm, he began to reply to his friend.
Text to Cheri: I could never forget our conversation! It's a lot of fun, and I'm learning a lot. Like, a whole lot! What kind of ice cream did you have? I will make sure to get ice cream the next time we go somewhere. Whaaat? Really? We keep missing each other then! Why was your trainer unhappy? Did you try hugging him? Whenever Huebert is sad, I give him a hug. I think it helps, because hugs are very nice. You should try dancing, right now! It's so much fun, especially when you start spinning around and around and around, the world gets really funny looking when that happens. I could teach you how to dance, you and your trainer! I dance to all kinds of music, and every kind. When there isn't any music, I just sing to myself. We should! We could do all kinds of things! I dunno, I've never tried! Maybe? Something that fun has to be tasty.

Adder was ready to stride right on forward and start looking for the quickest path to his destination, but a voice suddenly going through his head cut him short. He jerked, lurched backwards, and lost his balance, falling back and wincing in pain, before snapping his eyes open. Damn it, what!?! That was a total invasion of privacy! His (scared), angry gaze swept the area, before landing on a cheery togepi in front of him, jumping in greeting. What? Hubert? WHat the hell was-- Oh. Adder stared up at the boy from under the cap of his hat, his expression far from friendly. What the hell. Didn't psychics know not to just intrude like that?
He moved and pushed himself up, a dizzy pichu splayed on the ground beside him, eyes spinning from the topple he'd taken. Brushing himself off, Adder snatched the little electric mouse up, narrowing his eyes at the kid. The look turned to confusion as the kid.... explained? It was pretty incoherent. He stared at him a moment, before glancing down to Cling, grimacing a bit as the pokemon looked up to him. "Uh... a Klow, apparently. Don't you keep your pokemon in better check? They shouldn't be intruding into people's thoughts, y'know," he commented, adjusting his bag, and glancing briefly back as cosmog chimed and bumped up against the flap, rolling to try and meet his gaze happily. He frowned.

So, accidentally having your pokemon make someone fall. That was definitely not how you wanted to start a conversation. By the time Huey arrived, the boy had already gotten himself, and his startled Pichu, from off the ground. "I'm sorry," he uttered another apology, ducking his head down at the look shot his way. "Are you and your pokemon alright?" This wasn't at all how he had hoped this conversation would have gone, and he was surprised he'd even managed to get across his original question. Nerves made him garble the sentence, but the other seemed to understand him. Huey lifted his head up to stare at the small creature, nerves displaced by curiosity. "I've never heard of that before," he commented, mostly to himself.
As awed as he was by the strange pokemon, Huey couldn't, and did not, ignore the boy's words of advice(?). "You're right... it was rude of him to do that." He kept from adding 'if I had known, I would've stopped him' onto his sentence, he didn't want to come off as someone who didn't know how to control their pokemon. "Cloud, don't do that again, alright." The Togepi, entranced in another message, only looked up briefly before he gave a cheerful salute. "Whatever you say, Huebert~!" That promise made, he dove back into the world of instant messaging. Huey looked up from his pokemon back to the boy. "I'm Huey," he introduced, realizing he'd simply asked his question without even bothering to give his name. "What's yours?" he asked, only to grow quiet as a muffled noise came from nearby. Instinctively he looked around him, and then towards the stranger as he realized the sound originated near him. Movement from his bag had him staring in its direction, but he kept from speaking up on it, though that didn't mean he wasn't curious. Was there a... pokemon in his bag?
Cloud didn't understand why the hat boy was so upset, he'd just been trying to say hello! And, in the only way he knew how, or at least in the only way he knew that humans would understand. He hadn't meant to surprise him, but it certainly had been funny to see! Even now, the young pokemon couldn't help but to giggle as he recalled the memory. Maybe Cheri would find it funny too!
Text to Cheri: That is very rude. You should remind them! Wooah, you tried 58 flavors? I didn't even know there could be so many flavors out there! Which one was your favorite? I don't even know which one I would like! Maybe donut flavored? I've had one of those before, and I really liked it. Did the big pokemon think he was a chair? Huebert is a very comfortable to lay against, so maybe your trainer is comfortable too. How can he not like hugs? They're so nice! What is a Dewott? It sounds like a nice thing to hug! I don't get sick, I just get wobbly. Maybe I'm immune to spinning sickness. I will teach only you how to dance then! We can make up our own moves and dance together. We will! Maybe we'll just keep our mouths open whenever music plays? Or just get reaaaaal close to it.
Oh, oh, oh! We just met a boy, he's like Huebert with his bright hair. But he wears a hat, I want to wear his hat. I accidentally scared him with my voice and made him fall down. I didn't mean to, but it was funny to watch. Do you ever make people fall with your voice? He said I was 'intruding' into his thoughts, but I wasn't. I was just saying hi.

Adder just huffed at the apology and shrugged off the question. He frowned at the response, before thrusting his arm at the boy. "Here, you can take it," he offered, deadpanned. Cling gripped tighter and slithered around to peer back at him through narrowed, blue eyes. Adder rolled his eye, and dropped his arm, twitching slightly at the small shock he received in return, and shooting a wide-eyed glare down at the pokemon.
He looked back at Huey, eying him as he agreed, then adjusting his bag again as he chided his pokemon. The action seemed to arouse the Puff in his backpack, and when he brought his gaze back to the other kid, he noticed he seemed to have heard it, too. He narrowed his eyes slightly. ".... Adder," he replied, before turning, and starting to walk, "And I kinda got somewhere to be, so..."

Taken aback by the boy's casual offer to trade--in his experience, you just didn't offer your pokemon to a stranger you just met--Huey lost out on his chance to respond. Instead, he watched as the pokemon, who understandably disagreed, glared at its trainer before the latter dropped his hand. He twitched, and Huey tilted his head to the side, confused. Something had happened, but exactly what it was he wasn't sure, but it certainly wasn't anything pleasant; the other boy's glare told him that much.
"It's nice to meet you Adder," Huey recited the proper response as if he was programmed to do so. Though the small, almost hesitant, smile kept it genuine and honest; it was nice to have run into Adder, even if the feeling wasn't mutual. "Oh, right..." he nodded his head slowly. "Do you mind if I... walk with you a bit? I hadn't planned to stay in Heahea for too long." Which was true enough. It wasn't as if he was starved for interaction with another person his age. Naaaaah. That wasn't it. Because that was weird, jumping onto the first person you met around your age, regardless of what little you knew of them. "I promise not to slow you down."

Meh mum gave it to me," and after a moment of consideration, tugged it off and offered it to her to look over if she felt so inclined. Sure, there was a hugged chunk of the brim missing with a jagged bite mark in its place, but he didn’t seem a bit bothered about handling it.

It has my name and it was pink. I think I would taste like it if I was an ice cream. What flavor would you be? I think there was a cake flavor, but not a donut flavor. My trainer is very tough, I don’t think he would be comfortable. I think he doesn’t hug because he now only has one arm. Hugs are hard with one arm. That’s an amazing skill. I wish I was immune to spinning; I will have to test it. I would be happy to dance with you and make our own music.

Mel smirked. "Well, I know you will," she joked back, knowing full well that could be taken a few ways. Given the playful, slightly sarcastic tone of her voice, though, it seemed more to suggest that if anything were to happen, Lala was the one most likely to come out of it A-okay. Her playful look turned jokingly suspicious at his claim that he didn't pick his own shirt. "What, you get schemed by a clever salesman, then?" she turned back, folding her arms over her chest as she looked his outfit over in a falsely judging manner.
Her expression softened and she gave a gentle smile at the point of sentimentality for his cap, blinking when he handed it over. She paused, then took it, looking curiously at it and running her finger over some of the jagged marks. "I can practically imagine a little you running around with the sun in his eyes," she remarked with an amused smirk, trying the cap on. Yeah, way too big. She pulled it back off, handing it back and tilting her head at the question. "I... never really thought about it, honestly," she remarked with a thoughtful, slightly off guard expression. She chuckled, then shrugged. "S'pose they're rather handy when you're out 'n about and can't do with havin' the sun bearing down on ya," she admitted. She looked up as they approached the pokecenter, noticing Brian standing outside, leaning against the side, looking a little shaken and wary, but with some clothes in his arms.
"Trouble gettin' past Nurse Joy, Bri?" she asked with amusement, lengthening her stride to take her belongings. He grimaced and grunted, handing her things over before straightening up. "I'll be right back," she added, glancing back to Lafayette, before disappearing inside.

"Nah sheila, though bet tha’d be a bettah excuse," Lafayette remarked in a cheeky manner, huffing a bit under the faux judgmental gaze. It didn’t last though, and he deflated back to his normal posture, head shaking. "Nah, jus’ mah otha’s shirt got wrecked. Ain’ had a chance ta grab the spares," because that required going home, something he still wasn’t keen to do.
"Oh yeh? Can yeh?" He teased, giving a bit of a chortle. He did have fonder memories of running about an ankle biter, climbing trees, and falling out said trees because he thought he could catch glances at the sun once more twice. Lafayette watched with amusement as she tried the cap on only to find that it just didn’t sit right. He took it back, carefully tugging it back onto his own head. "Oh? I bet ya’d look pretteh spiffy in tha’ roigh’ type a hat." He commented, flashing another grin before shifting focus and noticing Brian.
Lafayette fell quiet, allowing the two friends to speak, smirking a little at the Nurse Joy suggestion though he tilted his head to let the brim of his hat hide his face. Text to Cloud: I suppose that is true. I suppose I will forgive them just this once, though you didn’t forget. I’m sure there are many more, maybe 10000. There are a lot of flavors in the world after all. Thank you, I thought so too. Cotton candy is delicious, I think that would be an excellent flavor for you. I like the pink cotton candy. I haven’t tried donuts. Are they like cake? They look like cake but without the centers, and that seems silly.
I suppose I could throw pillows. I can use my mind to lift things. Maybe I will use a mattress. Can you lift things with your mind? He has one arm because the other was eaten by a pokemon. He didn’t fight it off very well. I’m not sure he did it to avoid hugs. I think I will practice while I can and build up a tolerance. I’m sure it’s easy. I will also come up with music for when we meet. I’m sure it will be good, make sure you do the same.
That is very bright. Do you have to wear shades to look at him? I think so, I didn’t get a chance to ask. That’s good, I’m sure you have a nice voice. Mel looked at Lafayette quizzically. She didnt quite get around to asking what that meant, or why he didn't have any spares-- or perhaps, if it was all his shirts that got wrecked. Though, perhaps that all had to do with his... arm.... Or lack thereof. That was still an awkward topic that she was having a hard time finding her comfort with. After all, Lafayette seemed the sort who wouldn't appreciate awkwardness or sympathy -- definitely not pity -- but she didn't want to make light of it, either.
She smirked uncertainly at his comment on her in a hat, though, before grinning. "Careful, Lala, that almost sounds like a compliment," she teased, nudging him, before turning her focus to Brian as well. She grabbed her clothes and swept inside, while Brian folded his arms over his chest and turned a dull look onto Lafayette. ".... Nope," he replied simply, looking off to the side. He seemed content to let the silence drag at that, but, after a moment, the discomfort he caused became even a bit too much for him. "But, I think we'll be able to run into some of them here. They seem fairly easy to spot.... I'm surprised you haven't come across them before," he remarked, surveying the area.

Lafayette just chuckled thoughtfully at Mel’s suggestion about the remark might be considered a compliment. He watched her go and then turned his attention to Brian, trying to maintain an equal level of friendliness with the other man in the form of conversation.
Which apparently Brian wasn’t buying. Lafayette frowned, rather disappointed at the bare response he got it. "Oh," he murmured, watching a moment before turning his attention elsewhere as awkward silence fell. Wow, awkward. The Aussie wasn’t one to let awkwardness in a situation get to him but well this… was painfully obvious and hard to miss. He was surprised when Brian broke the silence, perking up at the remark and grinning a bit.
"Oh yeh? I ain’, though been all up in the hospie so…," the blonde took a step over, giving Brian a gentle nudge to the arm. "They tough lookin’ blokes? Like them Rockets? I am using them to build a fortress. It is very tall. I have seen those discs before; I’ve used them for my trainer. He isn’t quite sure how to use them but that’s fine, I do. They are very useful. I also ate a funny mushroom and can throw rocks now. It’s very handy. It was not very good to chomp off his arm. No, he cannot, or he hasn’t tried. I will have to tell him to try. I would teach him but he’s not very bright. He likes to run into danger. He will probably lose the other one. I like that, I will try to do it quickly.
Oh, that would make sense. I can. My eyes are very big. I see everything, it is quite amazing. I will locate that pokemon but first I must finish this fort.
