Scarlett could feel the static between them again as he pulled her up. It was hard to imagine that he wasn't attracted to her when there was clearly something there. She couldn't make much sense of it, and neither could he apparently, which ultimately seemed to leave things between them... Awkward? Tense? She wasn't sure. At the very least she knew she personally felt deprived, and she hated it, but she didn't really have the energy or the inclination to hold it against him, not after the way he explained it all to her. It was just... Frustrating, she supposed. A walk to help clear her head sounded nice really after all of this, especially since they were by the water. She walked ahead, Zak lagging behind, not that she really minded but she did toss a glance over her shoulder after a while to make sure he was still there, and also to see what he was doing. When she did though, all she saw was that he was catching up with her now. Maybe he'd just been looking around for Meebus, since he soon commented that he was certain the rotom was around and would make sure nothing was stolen. "Alright." She nodded, walking alongside him in silence until he paused to take off his socks and shoes. It wasn't a bad idea, and Scarlett stopped to do the same. A walk on the beach wasn't the same unless you could feel the sand on your feet.
She paused however as he asked when she last went swimming. "Hm... I don't know if it counts, but I did take a dip in the Lavaridge Hot Springs when I was egg hunting in Hoenn. Felt nice after a whole lotta runnin' around. Can't really remember the last time I actually swam though..." She explained. In fact... She didn't think she'd really gotten in water hardly since before she'd stolen that piplup from Rowan, aside from the hot springs...
Arceus she missed the water. She had taken her shoes off, letting her feet sink in the sand. "I also did this in Olivine, got to stick my feet in the sand and the water for a bit.... Never did get the chance to actually swim though. S'funny, I shoulda done that. It's summa' time after all." She recalled with a softer smile. It seemed so long ago. Suddenly, a laugh left her lips. "Ahh... Ta hell with it." She sighed, shrugging her bag off of her shoulder, letting it hit the sand before jumping into the water with all of her clothes still on. She let herself sink down into the depths, opening her eyes to look at all of the water pokemon that swerved out of the way of her sudden dive before she emerged again above the water with a wild grin and a laugh. "Haha oh my gods that's cold...!" She cackled, brushing back her hair with a hand and swimming over to the edge, smiling up at Zak. Maybe she shouldn't have done that. Wasn't there some rule about not swimming after drinking? Well whatever. She'd never been one to follow the rules anyways. "Ya know, swimmin'll stretch ya're legs betta' than a walk will~" She suggested.

Zak picked up his shoes and socks in one hand and straightened, his other resting on his hip as he waited for her to finish doing the same. He raised an eyebrow at that; he had hardly even noticed the hot springs. Heck, he wasn't sure he even did that much. The whole egg hunt was a blur, and he spent most of it with his nose in his computer or messaging. He listened, patiently, letting her enjoy the moment, and the sensations. He was ready to keep walking, when suddenly, she laughed. He didn't frown, but his brow did furrow in confusion, before he stiffened and jerked slightly in surprise as she decided to.... just go swimming. Right there and then. The only warning he got was her dropping her bag, before she promptly... dived in.

He tilted his head to the side as she emerged, lips pressed together and eyes half lidded. "Vell, no vonder. It is night, and it is ze ocean," he pointed out, eying her. Hair matted down, and all her clothes on, he was surprised she wasn't weighed down more. He raised an eyebrow at the rather obvious suggestion, and for a long moment, he just stared at her. After a moment, though, he shifted his weight, and seemed to concede. "I suppose..." he remarked, before tossing his shoes down, and promptly pulling off his shirt. He undid his watch, took out his phone, his wallet, a few other things here and there, his pokeball belt... He swore, if she was using this to steal something... But, he knew she likely wasn't. It would condemn the situation too much. He took three long, smooth strides to the edge, stopped, and then promptly leaped off, and cannonballed in. He surfaced, brushing a hand back through his hair. "Feel at home, here, Mishka?" he asked casually, somewhat playfully, as he leaned back and kicked his feet under water to float on his back some, still angled enough that he could look over at her.

Scarlett scoffed and rolled her eyes with a grin as Zak decided to be a smartass and pointed out the obvious. Then again she'd also been commenting on the obvious by her remark on how cold it was. A stupid reply for a stupid comment she supposed. Still, she grinned up at him as he looked her over, thinking about her suggestion and eventually conceding. Scarlett was able to admire his shirtless form for about a few seconds before she reminded herself that it was more than likely nothing was going to happen tonight. Plus when he stopped at the edge and suddenly cannonballed into the water, and she had to raise her arms, bracing for impact before the splash hit her with a laugh and squeal, gasping for air by the time he resurfaced and looking stunned but giddy. "You!" She said accusingly with amusement as she sent a wave of water his way with her hands. "Ya did that on purpose!" She was now thoroughly soaked and shivering from the cold and from the fit of laughter rocking her body.
Her laughter died down to a light chuckle as he asked if she felt at home in the water. "Yeah...." She admitted wistfully. "S'funny.... People always say Mother Earth, but they think about the ground, the soil, the plants. Far me, it was always the ocean. I guess that's natural when ya've lived on it far as long as I have. The salty breeze at my back, the fish, the stars at night, the open blue sky in the day, sunrises, sunsets, and the endless space. Arceus, I could just escape and never look back...." She explained, pausing. Escape, and never have to deal with anyone ever again. She could never understand why the idea was so appealing to her. For someone as social as she could be, someone who loved culture and talking to people and learning everything about them, she could also be just as antisocial. Her opinions on others frequently swung between craving attention and contact with other people, and wanting to watch humanity burn. Herself included. Heh. What a mess she was. There was no way her twisted outlook on life was healthy. Perhaps a change of spotlight was in order. She wasn't quite ready or drunk enough yet to share those thoughts so willingly. "What about you? I know ya've fancied some water types." She inquired curiously. She knew he had his empoleon, a mega blastoise, and a totodile. He also had Ten too. She wasn't necessarily a water type, but she was still marine based.

Zak grinned, but quickly glided back, and then ducked down to avoid the splash. He actually hadn't done that on purpose, but, yeah, he'd considered it might happen. He resurfaced, again swiping a hand back through his hair with a mischievous grin. It quickly slid away as she started answering his question, though, and he deadpanned a bit. Ah... ********. He'd been so close, too. He shouldn't have tried conversation. He shifted into a relaxed, half float again, looking up at the sky and treading water. She.... could really ramble, couldn't she? Maybe it was the alcohol, but she sure was talking a lot. He'd probably gotten more information on her -- important or not -- in just the last, say... half hour, than he had in all his hacking. It was insightful information, it told him more about her, as a person, and maybe on some level, he cared, but his Ego certainly wouldn't let him be bothered. Even knowing, and acknowledging, as much about himself as he had, getting.... personal, and close, was never an interest with him. Not even with his now-ex boyfriend. He hadn't really cared to learn much about him. Much as things were.... weird with Scarlett, that still kind of held true for her, too.
He looked over when she turned the question back to him, raising an eyebrow. He'd been sort of caught in the mix of apathy, and lingering on something she'd said -- escaping. It was more a personal line of thought, less related to what she was talking about, and it was mixed with his attempts at apathy over the conversation. "I suppose, yes," he remarked, more concisely, "I've alvays enjoyed swimming, and I guess I have an affinity for vater types." He certainly wasn't in as much of a 'sharing' mood. He could have mentioned how he never got much of either, growing up in Snowpoint, but he didn't. Instead, he righted himself, pushing both hands through his hair and stretching his arms up and back. He... wished things would settle on a direction. This night was becoming so confusing. Every five minutes, he wanted to do something, and every other five minutes, it felt like things were getting stagnant, or just turning into non-directional chit-chat. It was like the alcohol made any swing he made, go all the way. Ready for action, or completely mellowed out, no in between. It was almost making him nauseous.

Scarlett was highly amused as Zak ducked down under the water to avoid her onslaught. The mischievous grin he wore at her accusation got her heart racing though... She loved those smug expressions he had, as much as she wanted to deny it. Playful, dangerous, and cat-like. Unfortunately it faded away when she answered his question. It was strange. He kept asking her questions, but then he always seemed to dislike it when she answered. She wasn't sure why, whether it was the answers themselves or perhaps she was just talking too much again.
Her mind flickered back to their kiss, the way he'd shut her up with it. Was that because he didn't want her to talk anymore, or because he thought it was cute when she rambled? Was he only upset now because he didn't want those feelings? Regardless she silently chastised herself, knowing she did need to stop rambling before she let something important slip. What good would it do though, really? Drinking made her ramble, it had always been that way, but if she tried to focus and keep her answers more concise she might be able to get ahold of herself.
For now, she turned the questions onto Zak. "Oh? Well now I'm curious kotik..." She suggested, swimming over a bit closer. "Is it just basketball you love, or athletics in general...? I mean, you've certainly sculpted yourself..." She chuckled, tracing her fingers along the muscles of his arm to emphasize her point. Part of her wished he hadn't taken off his shirt. A smile here, a frown there, a passionate kiss, insisting he was gay... Arceus, she didn't know what he wanted. She didn't really know what she wanted either, but she was certainly confused by all of these damn mixed signals, and her drink fogged mind certainly couldn't keep up.

Zak maintained treading water, his expression aloof, but.... interested at her change in demeanor. He eyed her as she moved closer, before a smirk crossed his face. Just at the mention of basketball-- that was all it took to surge up a sense of confident enjoyment. Perhaps it was association, or maybe there was some actual thought behind it that didn't quite get fully formed, but his attention was, once again, fully on her. He looked down at her with half lidded eyes, not at all minding the feeling of her fingers on his skin. "Vat can I say? I like to stay active..." he purred back, the alcohol quietly making his head swim. He wasn't really sure when his arm wrapped around her -- maybe it was when she drew closer, or perhaps when her hand touched his skin -- but suddenly he was drawing her in, and bringing his lips to hers in another kiss.
And this time, he was grinning. He pulled her against him and roughly deepened the kiss, and then, suddenly-- the reason for his mischief became more clear. He drew back, and in a second... he disappeared back under the water's surface.

She did love that sort of confidence he exhibited with the sport, but moreover she loved the way he regarded her shortly thereafter with that half lidded stare of appraisal as he insisted that he liked to stay active. "I can see th--mph..!" She started to reply, only the next thing she knew, he was pulling her in for another kiss, which honestly surprised her. He seemed to be full of those today: surprises. Had he decided to take her suggestion seriously then...? It certainly seemed like it, what with the way he was handling her, grinning widely and getting a little aggressive. Arceus, if the night continued with this roller coaster of ups and downs, she wasn't sure how much longer she could keep up, but the wait through all the low patches was always worth the reward of the highs like this....

Zak was getting away that easy, and he had gotten that far. Or, well... not far, so much as well hidden. He immediately used the shadows, and quickly slipped behind a rock. He surfaced and ran a hand back through his hair, listening back, and trying to watch the water to carefully avoid Scarlett. He had the upper hand of a head start, and an end goal; for all she knew, he could just be lurking at the bottom to pop back up. But he wasn't. He was waiting, specifically, for an opportunity. If she got close, he'd stealthily slip back under, dive deep, and move to another hiding place where he could peer out, and watch for her.
He waited until she surfaced, looking away from him, waiting a moment, before slipping back under, this time not bothering trying to hide the noise. He kicked off the rocks to give momentum, and looked up, gliding under if she turned, or rising up quickly if she didn't, to surface behind her. He slipped a hand up to catch one wrist, while coming up over her other shoulder, smirking at her. "You're not ze only vone in your element, Mishka," he purred, before moving down to kiss her neck, his other hand helping to keep him afloat, but also making sure she didn't sink with one of her own hands restrained, either.

Scarlett swam around in pursuit of Zak, occasionally feeling a sudden rush of water under or above her when she unknowingly got close to wherever Zak was hiding. It was hard to tell however, if she'd just scared off a fish or had found Zak. Eventually, she had to come up for air, glancing around for any signs of the Russian. She swore, if he was just hiding to pop up and jump scare her, he was going to get a face full of water in retaliation. She laughed a bit at the thought. She turned as she heard an audible splash, this time knowing it was him rather than a pokemon, but realizing only too late that it was obvious. Too obvious. He had her then, grabbing her by the wrist and leaning over her other shoulder with a smirk.
She'd admit it to herself; she'd been had. If she hadn't drank so much she might've processed it faster. "Not bad kotik..." She mused appreciatively with a chuckle. It was probably a good thing he had a hold of her, or she might have sunk back underwater from relaxing into the kisses he placed on her neck. "Mm... But ya know, s'awfully cruel of ya to kiss someone like that an' disappear... I hope ya plan on finishin' what ya started." She murmured with a smirk, reaching back with her free hand to caress his outer thigh.

Zak smirked. Please. Not bad. They were both slightly drunk and he had perfectly out maneuvered her. But, he appreciated the coy act. He didn't appear, initially, to respond to her comment, instead continuing to simply kiss and occasionally suck at her neck. before he drew back. Again, he seemed to just do so to move her hair for better access, but as he leaned back down, he moved his lips to her ear instead. "Don't vorry, Mishka, I fully intend to make it up to you..." he purred, his free arm moving to wrap around her waist, and pull her close. Of course, to do that, they'd have to make it back to dry land first...

Scarlett had to grin a little at his smirk, amused by his cocky attitude. He didn't have to say anything. She could see on his face that he believed he'd been better than she was coyly letting on, and she knew it too, but that was half the fun. She frowned slightly as he paused from his affections, but it soon became clear he was just moving her hair aside for easier access, murmuring promises to make everything up to her.

A few hours later, Scarlett had moved off of the beach and back into the water to wash the sand off of her body and clothes. She'd certainly still need to shower off later at a pokemon center or hotel, but a dip in the ocean would do for now, just so she didn't have sand rubbing her skin raw on her way out. The question was, how could she get back to the center? She'd cut ties with Skye so she couldn't call him up for a ride, and her pager wouldn't work any more now that the contest was over. Zak was reclining on the rock they'd initially set up camp on, to avoid getting any more sand on. He'd already washed it off before trudging up, not that he needed to, since he was still wearing his jeans, and that protected him from any chafing or anything. He was just.... occasionally a neatfreak, and he'd rather keep his jeans relatively clean. Meebus had, indeed, been off doing something, but apparently he'd kept watch on whatever they left behind, instead. Zak was pretty sure, now that they were back, he was still busying himself nearby, but he hadn't seen much of the rotom other than an occasional appearance.
He looked up as Scarlett rejoined him, leaning back on his hands with his legs stretched out before him and crossed at the ankle. He smirked at the comment, quirking an eyebrow ever so slightly at the kiss. 'Vat ze hell?' The thought was amused, rather than annoyed, surprisingly. Where did that come from? It was oddly affectionate. Not seductive, or even playful, per se. And she started playing with his hair, too... Under normal circumstances, he'd probably be unnerved or annoyed, but this time, he just smirked. "Glad to see you so happy, Mishka," he joked back knowingly, though in a way, he meant it. At the very least, he wasn't being sarcastic.

Scarlett chuckled at Zak's retort. "I am... You seem pretty content yerself." She suggested with a smile. The metaphor "cat that ate the canary" certainly came to mind when looking at that smirk of his. Scarlett soon stood to go retrieve her things however, leaving Zak's side for the moment. "Much as I'd love to stay though, best to get out of here, or I don't think I'd get any sleep." She gave a wry grin, glancing up at him from fiddling with the contents of her bag. She only was taking her own belongings, leaving the rest of the alcohol for Zak (if there even was any, Scarlett wasn't sure). It would be a long walk to the next pokemon center, but Scarlett supposed she needed it so that she could work some of the alcohol out of her system and think a few things over. Zak chuckled a bit. "I suppose," he remarked casually with a shrug. He looked at her and quirked an eyebrow, watching her with a bit of dubiousness. That soon tinted itself with amusement. "Really, Mishka? I'm going to start to think zat didn't mean anysing for you," he drawled with heavy sarcasm. It wasn't like much happened, really. He leaned back on his hands and shrugged, before laying down on rock. "Later," he stifled a yawn. It was such an abrupt departure, and some part of him was stirred, or puzzled by it, but.... overall, he didn't care much. It was getting late, and he certainly didn't plan on sleeping her. Neither did she, clearly.
After a while, he checked his watch, but frowned when a message suddenly popped up.

In fact, Zak was a bit surprised they even used messages at all. Usually, it was just for widespread alerts, when the telepathic web would be insufficient for quick, fluid communication, and the message would be deleted almost immediately after being read—or deleted as much as such a thing could be.
Honestly, he wasn’t really sure how he felt about getting chosen for another Imperium mission, but he was fairly certain he didn’t have much choice. Indeed, when he lifted his head, there stood a Hive agent. A hood shadowed her face, but he could still make out crystal blue eyes peering out from behind light blond hair.

Zak folded his arms over his chest as the woman looked silently back at him. She lifted her head, before giving a slight nod. This was pretty typical; Hive agents, particularly when still tightly connected to the network, were.... odd. "Yes. As you are aware, we require your efforts in handling the situation. This mission will not take place immediately, as we wish to attempt to gather more intel first, however--""Let me guess, you vant me to hack in, download ze blueprints, and plant a virus?" he drawled. She narrowed her eyes, just ever so slightly. "Accent." She straightened. "And no, you will likely need to infiltrate with a team. There is reason to believe they may already have some form of the weapon, and we will want to get it, ensure they have no copies of the blueprints," she explained in almost a drone. Criminy, it was like being in a boring math class. Zak pressed his lips together and raised an eyebrow.
"You make it sound as z-- ... as though this could destroy the world or something," he commented sarcastically. "It cannot," was her concise, anti-climactic response, "However, it is dangerous." He gave her a look. "To Imperium?" he guessed. Her brow furrowed slightly. "... To people." He shrugged. "Alright, what should I be doing in the meantime?" he asked, eying her. She looked back, then away. ".... Continue your tasks, stay in shape.... perhaps battle some more of those gyms you are so eager to take on." Zak grimaced as she looked back at him. He hated when they did that. "You should ready yourself... and your pokemon. We will inform you of who will be accompanying you as we confirm them."
Zak nodded, finally dropping his arms, and moving to grab his stuff. The woman looked over as Meebus swept up, floating next to Zak, looking at her. She glanced him over, then casually looked back to Zak. Her gaze, and demeanor, seemed to... adjust slightly. Like she relaxed, though she didn't seem particularly tense before. "You... should know, Zak... We will likely need a hardware techie on the mission as well, in case disassembling, instead of destroying, the weapon, is possible. As you're aware, one of our best is... Adam. I really.... think you should consider handling your reaction to that," she remarked, frowning and eying him uncertainly. It hadn't taken long for a scowl and a glare to appear on his face, even though he could tell this was the individual, not the hive, talking to him. It was a bit of personal advice, and he should have appreciated that, but he... well, was Zak. "Vhat... Whatever," he muttered, shouldering his bag, and turning sharply to stride off. He had the information he needed-- now he needed to figure out where he was going.
