Sullivan’s vision cleared up a bit as they moved away from the meadow and into a nearby cave. Of course, going from blinded by tears to blinded by dim lighting was hardly an improvement. His roller-blades clicked together as he and Junpei walked, the noise echoing through the cavern. The solitary sound might’ve been unnerving if he could’ve recognized it, but instead – as he was accustomed to- he simply reveled in nothing but silence.
Instead his focus was on signs for Mana. There was the occasional sound of wing beats, though once more that meant nothing to Sullivan and was only something Junpei could make tails of. His only leads were the flicker of shadows and the Rockruff’s nose to go off, with the former proving to be rather unreliable.
Ability Vital Spirit: The Pokémon cannot fall Asleep while having this ability. If a pokemon with Vital Spirit is in the active party, the chances of encountering pokemon of the two strongest levels is increased by 50%.
Where were they anyways? This whole dance and chase had taken them off their original path and all. With a sigh, Sullivan paused to dig out his notebook of maps, catching the Rockruff’s attention with his delay. He glanced and gestured for the pup to keep moving, tapping the book as indication of his own intentions.
Junpei gave a bark in understanding, returning his snout to the task at hand. Mana was lurking close by, he could tell. Where exactly? Well that was the hard part. His sight was just as limited as Sullivan’s and being low to the ground didn’t help. Sure, had his scent to rely on but that only got one so far in a cave such as this. There were levels to this place after all and the scent wafted through the air with the breeze making it difficult to directly pinpoint. It was troublesome indeed.

In the meantime, Sullivan took the time to match up their surroundings with what he saw. It was a few pages in, but he found the unfinished sketching of Seward Cave without delay. He’d copied most of what he had from pre-existing maps, but left it sparse enough to add his own touches; filling in what he felt to be missing secrets or overlooked details. The important stuff that normally went missed the first or second time something was observed.
It was a shame that he didn’t have the chance to explore and detail his sketching more. This would’ve been a perfect opportunity to check the lower caverns and detail them accordingly. It was something they’d have to back track when they had the chance. How frustrating.
Tracing a finger along the sketch lines that replicated the pathways he’d copied. They were on an upper tier now and proceeding forward would eventually lead to a way out. That didn’t promise him any resolution in retrieving Mana though, which was the real conundrum.
Maybe he could stalk the entrance? The light would be enough to see her if she flew by, though if she’d gone lower than well, the chances of catching her were still slim. Damn. This was more work than Sullivan was expecting…

Sullivan and Junpei opted to wait. And wait. And wait. And soon the situation began to grow increasingly grim as there was no whiff or feather of the rogue starter. Sullivan was beginning to think that she truly had flown to the lower half of the cave and that the pair would need to search her out. Not something he was really looking forward to doing. He stayed in place a while longer, chin cupped between his hands as his elbows rested on his knees. Okay so this was certainly not how he expected his journey to start like this. She’d seemed to really be into him so what was with the sudden attitude?
It probably had to do with that object she’d found. He probably shouldn’t have tried to take it from her so quickly; thinking it over, it seemed she had a bit of an affinity for shiny objects. What a very bird thing to have. With a sigh, Sullivan retrieved one of the malasadas Heather had provided, breaking it in half and grinning at the pinkish colored filling inside. Ahh… strawberry. His sister knew him so well, he almost felt spoiled. He offered the other portion to Junpei, the pup taking it eagerly. The pair started in their consuming of the delicious native treat as they waited for signs of the rogue Rowlet.
Who, apparently had been watching them the entire time. She was up on a ledge, concealed in the darkness, watching the pair camp out at the exit. She very much intended to get out of this cave to continue her escape with her new treasure though… she was also interested in that delicious looking treat her trainer and fellow pokemon colleague were eating. It looked good.
Her treasure would be safe up on this ledge, right? She thought so and Mana fluttered back up into the air before dive bombing and swooping right in front of a startled Sullivan’s face, snatching his malasada half straight from his grip with her claws and flying out the cave entrance while he tried to take in what had happened. Sullivan yelped and snapped his attention to the fleeing Rowlet, Junpei finishing his food and immediately jumping up to bark at the creature.
Really? Had she really just done that? What was wrong with this crazy bird. With a scowl he was up, darting after the fleeing form of the Rowlet once more. This was becoming increasingly painful with each passing second…

Noah was clinging for dear life to Sullivan’s back as the man quickly sped his way through the cave. He’d certainly never been carried by someone going this fast and it was a little sickening. He ended up shutting his eyes and just hoping for the best. Sullivan noted the tension from the pokemon, keeping his arms behind his back to hold him in place. There much of a way to reassure him that he was safe; Sullivan was fast and well, hoping off edges to paths underneath to continue through the cave while on wheels hardly instilled safe confidence. He was certain all was fine though; of all the many activities, he’d been doing for a long time, rollerblading was one of them. He probably bladed better than he walked; it took special situations for him to trip up. Making a sharp corner, he picked up speed once more upon spotting the cave exit up ahead. His nose wrinkled some as he recalled that they’d need to go through the meadow once more… ugh… well. The quicker the better.

Scarlett fiddled with her xtransceiver as she walked through the cave. Now that she was away from Zak she needed to figure out where the hell she was even going. The closest pokemon center seemed to be on Route 2, which meant she just had to make it through to the meadow on the other side of this cave to Route 3 and then take the turn onto Route 2. The closest city was a little further than that, Hau'oli City, which also had a center and a port with boats to other regions. So conceivably, she could rest for the night in the center at Route 2 and just head for Hau'oli in the morning. Scarlett sighed. It would be a long walk, but oh well. This was what she got for breaking ties with Skye. She needed to force herself to try and live without him.

If only Rave were a noivern instead of a noibat, she could just have Cypher send her over from the PC and she could fly straight to Route 2. It was also a shame that her ride pager was no longer activated. It had been really handy... Maybe she could get it reactivated some how? It was worth asking. Or hacking. Actually yeah. Hacking was probably the faster way to go about it. Drunken, hazy eyes grew more focused as she cued up her xtransceiver again. "Cypher, ya there...?" Scarlett asked. There was a pause and a bit of static. "Yes Captain?" The porygon z emerged from her xtransceiver and looked Scarlett over. "Captain.... Have you been drinking...?" He asked tentatively. "Nevermind that." Scarlett snarled, rolling her eyes and holding out the deactivated ride pager. "I need you to see ifn ya can get this thing operational again." Scarlett insisted. "It's a ride pager I was rented fer this egg huntin' contest, but now that the contest's over, it won't work, but I need a ride." Scarlett insisted.

Cypher tilted his head slightly. "Apologies Captain, but is this really necessary? Do you not usually request that Mister--" Scarlett cut Cypher off. "Farget Skye Cy, I...." Scarlett's initial malice receded into regret. "We aren't... He's...." Scarlett wasn't really sure how to put it. "....Very well. I will attempt to reactivate the pager." Cypher agreed. "Take Rave outta the PC too." Scarlett insisted. "I want ta start trainin' her some more so that I daen't have to rely on other thin's and people to get me 'round, savy?" She explained. "Understood captain. Give me a moment." Diving back into her xtransceiver, Cypher returned with Rave's pokeball. She would have to train the noibat some other time though, for right now she needed some sleep, and she wouldn't be able to get that until Cypher finished up. In the meantime, she exited the cave into the meadow. Might as well keep making her way towards Route 2 just in case Cypher couldn't do anything with the pager, and if he was able to reactivate it, the closer they were, the better.
