First friends, huh? "Well you're lucky to get me as a friend instead. I'm a lot cooler than that dweeb." She smirked. It was probably best to keep Alex away from Darren from now on. Though... She didn't know who the other male was. If he had allied himself with Darren, then either he was a threat, or he had no idea what he was getting into. She hoped for the latter. It would be far more entertaining that way. With that smug thought in mind, she perked up a little when Alex mentioned "Sable". "Sable?" She asked, tilting her head a little to one side. She had only seen Jin with Darren, after all. If there were other 'friends' to exploit from Darren, she wanted to know.
Azalea nodded grimly as Alex commented that the trials sounded like a lot of work. "Yeah, they're kind of lame. But it's one of the few ways to get those space rocks. Don't worry, if your pokemon are strong enough, they'll do all the work for you. Just like mine." She explained with a wry grin. "I dunno if you should eat em. Fluffy might though." She glanced down at the cosmic poot in his arms once again.
After mildly panicking from being sent to some field with giant pokemon to fight, Fluffy finally sent them back to Hau'oli where they belonged, and Azalea let out a breath she didn't realize she'd been holding. "Yeah.... I think fluffy wanted to show us around, I guess." A sharp glare at Fluffy belied her usual monotone as the cosmog seemed amused from her panic. Very funny. She sneered internally. "Anyway, Verdant Cavern is just this way." Azalea directed to the cave mouth a little ways ahead.

Alex nodded his head confidently- yeah, Az was really cool. He thought Darren was really cool too though. But in a different way? And of course Sable and Jin were cool as well. "Yeah! Sable's really cool as well. She reminds me of you, kind of." He thought about it. "Maybe." He thought about it some more. "A bit."
Az seemed to think his pokemon could do all the work for him. "Really, you think so? But I know they would be way better with my great skills and tactics." He thought back to when he first got Roxy and he fell down a hill chasing her when she ran away. Or Patches, who was always sleeping on the ground like an ooze so he'd carry him around. Yeah. Way better with his great skills and tactics.
"Hey Fluffy, maybe be softer next time?" he mumbled quietly to the fluffball in his arms. It chirped something that he liked to think was agreement. Alex patted Fluffy on the head, then trotted to catch up with Az as she lead them into Verdant Cavern.
"Alola is really different from Kanto," Alex commented, thinking about how in Kanto this kind of place would be just a big building. It was crazy that Az knew all about this place. Up until recently, Alex had hardly gone anywhere except his home. And the summer home in Hoenn. And the winter home in Sinnoh. And the other summer home in Sinnoh.

Ez jumped as Rotom flew out of her bag and hovered in front of her. "You have gifts waiting at the Pokemon Center," it read again. Wow, she was getting a lot of gifts! She looked down at Sid, who was bouncing from bubble to bubble that he was making. She giggled at the sight, "I guess we should head to the Pokemon Center! Map say it's.... right along this path, perfect," she chirped as Rotom whizzed back into her bag.
After a while, it looked like Sid was getting tired, so she withdrew him back into his ball and put it back on her belt. She didn't mind walking by herself, it gave her time to slow down and check out the scenery. The salty breeze was welcoming, if a little hot, and the greenery offered wonderful shade. It didn't seem like this route would be too bad to travel on.

Ezra made it to the Pokemon center without any trouble. She managed to sneak through the grass along the path without anything popping out at her, at least. With a sigh of relief, she walked into the Pokemon Center and put Sid's ball on the counter for him to get a quick fix-up as she went over to the side to pick up the gifts she apparently had waiting.
Three Pokeballs - WOW! - and quite a handful of items to go along with them! She let the Pokemon out of their Pokeballs to meet them, and squealed happily. A Galarian Ponyta!! She was absolutely gorgeous, and looked like she could be a baby! The Ponyta flipped her poofy mane and knickered in response. Ezra smiled and stroked the little foal's nose, "I've raised lots of you back home, little one! I'm happy to see you! And a Pichu and Buneary - how cuuuuute," she cooed, reaching out to pet them as well. She was very curious about the Buneary - it had pink fur tufts instead of blonde! "I should probably name all you, huh... Alright, come on out!" She released all her Pokemon and smiled at all of them. She'd collected quite the team so far! But counting them, she knew she'd have to put some into storage. She felt a pang of guilt, but quickly reminded herself that this was part of the Pokemon Journey.
After a while, she'd settled on names for them all, checking with each Pokemon to see how they liked it. During the process, she was also able to see all of their personalities. Eli (Torchic) and Bolt (Magnemite) were the trouble-makers of the bunch; she'd had to pause several times to keep them with the group and out of trouble. They kept ganging up on poor Ralts, which Ezra had withdrawn into her Pokeball. She decided she'd keep the poor little thing in storage, to get a break from all the chaos. Once she thought everything was (mostly) under control, they started picking on Grimer next. "If you two can't stop it, neither one of you will get to travel with us," she'd warned. Grimer didn't seem to care, one way or the other, but she didn't have the energy to keep up with the mischief. Once she was able to get back to the matter at hand, Pichu was named Mellan, Ponyta was named Brigid, and Buneary was named Barry. Grimer was put into storage and, once Sid was returned from the Nurse, she had her first team of six! She was so excited and proud of herself!
Hearing rustling, she turned to look down at her bag that Eli was ruffling through. He tossed various things all about, and Ezra panicked as she reached for the bag. "Eli!! There's breakable stuff in there, don-" she started as one of said breakables was tossed from his beak. The TR disc flew through the air and Brigid managed to catch it in her mouth. Ezra's hand followed the arc of the disk, as if she'd be able to catch it so far out of reach. She breathed a sigh of relief as Brigid caught it. But then it glowed, and... broke. Brigid let out a startled whinny and stepped back, spitting out little sparkly pieces of disc. Ez was about to ask if she was alright, but the pieces seemed to blow away like dust and disappeared. Panicked, Ezra went to the nurse to check on Brigid really quick. After a quick check and a retelling of what happened, the nurse giggled, "Your Ponyta is perfectly fine. She learned whatever was on that disc, is all," she explained, petting Brigid and then going back to her counter.

Ezra curiously pulled out her Rotom Pokedex and had it scan Brigid. "Psychic, huh? Wow, that's a powerful attack," she breathed, reading the stats on it. "Neat! Okay, let's see.... The first gym trial is along this route, I think it'd be a good idea to do some training! Who's up for it? All six Pokemon let out various noises of agreement, some more enthusiastic than others. The group headed outside and started wandering down the path towards the grass.
Ez smiled as she stroked Brigid's fur. As excited as she was to be in a new region, she had to admit she missed her home back in Galar. It was nice to have a piece of home here with her. She giggled as she watched Sid making more bubbles for Eli to pop. Banny heard the commotion and ran over to pop them by poking them with his ears. Soon, all of them - even Ezra herself - were popping bubbles joyfully in the road. Seeing another trainer pass them, Ezra flushed and cleared her throat, "Er, we should get going. Lots of training to do," she reminded the lot. She smiled sheepishly as they all gave her sad puppy-dog eyes. "It's alright! We've got tons of time to play, but we are in the middle of the road..."

As they entered the grass, everyone scattered. Ez watched, glancing over the grass as she saw her various Pokemon bob up and down, as if they were swimming in the tall grasses. She giggled and chose to follow Eli, as Brigid was tall enough and acting as eyes for Mellan and Barry. Bolt was having fun bobbing up when Sid bounced on his balls through the path he was making.
Ezra sighed, it felt like it was taking forever to find a single Pokemon! Wasn't this route for Trainers to train on? What did they do - fight each other? Not something she was excited about. Especially after those kids in Hau'oli City. The one had a horrible attitude; she severely hoped the other trainers in Alola weren't like him.
She was about to give up, when a tan blur came rushing at Eli from behind a thick patch of grass. The little chick jumped out of the way from the creature's.... tail? She pulled out her Pokedex and scanned it. "Smeargle, the Painter Pokemon. The unique creations produced by each Smeargle are painted using the fluid that oozes from its tail. This is how it marks its territory." A fluid from it's tail? She wasn't sure she wanted to know what it was made of... She watched as it waved the tip of its tail at Eli, though she wasn't entirely sure what was happening. Eli chirped, scratching at the ground and crouching - he was ready to fight.
"Alright, Eli - use Ember!" The Chick Pokemon opened his beak and let loose an array of tiny flames at the Smeargle. It hopped from foot to food, but definitely got hit by some. It growled and waved the tip of its tail at Eli again, but this time she saw shapes similar to the Ember that was just used. The drawing glowed and disappeared, Ezra ordered another Ember before it could do anything else. It hit its mark; Smeargle looked pretty beat up now. One more time should do it...
The Wild Smeargle growled and opened its mouth. Embers let loose at Eli, but he just brushed them off. "Ember, one more time, Eli!" The Torchic let loose the attack, and cried out in victory as the Smeargle collapsed into the grass. Ezra cheered and picked Eli up to hug him, "You did such a great job!!! Now, let's see if we can catch it!" She threw the Pokeball, then she and Eli watched in anticipation as it wiggled and then stopped. Click! Yessss!! Ez picked up her new capture as Rotom swung out to face her. "You have six Pokemon with you! What do you want to do with Smeargle? You can swap it for another member of your party, or send it directly to storage." Ezra clicked on "Send to storage" and watched as Rotom poked the Pokeball and ... absorbed it? Wow, Rotom was useful!
She smiled as her other Pokemon appeared to check on them. "Don't worry! Everything's fine," she promised, giving the especially concerned Sid a scratch behind his ears. "We battled a Smeargle! That was the first time I'd seen one! Very interesting," she babbled as they continued wandering through the grass as a group.

Ezra and her team wandered around forever (it felt like), and decided to head back to the Pokemon Center for lunch and a break. Rotom beeped and flew out in front of her as they neared the Center, informing her there were gifts and a message there waiting for her. Already?! Jeeze...
She went ahead and withdrew Bolt and Eli, wanting to avoid whatever mischief they were bound to get into. She went to see what the message and gifts were, and read the printed email first. It read...
Dear Ezra,
I hope you're doing well, sweetie! Everything is fine over here, the new farmhands are working out swimmingly. They even have their own Pokemon to help them, so our older ones can get the break they need. The herd isn't ready to retire just yet, but it is time to slow them down. I'm sorry we didn't listen to you sooner!
I do have some news, I'm afraid Sunny has been an absolute wreck since you left. I know it's only been a week of travel by now, but she's barely gone outside to get any sun. We had to put a grow lamp next to her, just to make sure she got enough light. That's no way for her to live. I know I should have called and asked first, but I mentioned to your dad that I was thinking of sending her, and she wouldn't leave me alone after that. She's absolutely desperate to see you. The Professor's assistant helped me send her Pokeball to you. Such a nice girl! Anyway, make sure you take good care of Sunny! Don't just leave her in that storage bin, poor girl needs fresh air and sunshine. Alola sounds like the perfect getaway for her!

Wait, Sunny was sent to her? She snapped her head over to look at the gifts - a couple of Pokeballs and a handful of Valentine-themed items. She released the Pokemon and recognized an adorable Lillipup and nearly cried as she saw the familiar Leafeon. "Sunny," she cried, pulling the older Pokemon into a hug. Sunny purred, wrapping her vines around Ezra as she nuzzled her, crying in relief and joy. "You know I wasn't leaving you for good, I'm so sorry... I missed you so much!" They held each other for a long moment before Ezra pulled back and wiped her face. "But hey, we've got new friends! Meet Sid, Mellan, Brigid, and Barry. There's Eli and Bolt, too, but they like to cause trouble," she introduced and chuckled. "Everyone, this is Sunny! We grew up together on the farm. Oh, and you," she turned to the Lillipup and picked her up. "Are the cutest little thing!! It's great to meet you. I've always wanted a Lillipup of my own! I'll call you Lilly!"
Rotom beeped at her, flashing a warning. "You can only have a max of six Pokemon! What would you like to do?" She grimaced. That's right, darn limit... She kept getting all these gifts - figuring out which to bring along was gonna be super tough. She set Lilly down and thought for a moment. Sunny was older, but she was strong. And her mom was right - poor thing needed some proper sun. She didn't feel right putting Sid away, plus his Water Gun was super refreshing. Her gaze went to Mellan and then Bolt's Pokeball in her hand. Two electric types.... Bolt was already put away, and a little too mischievous for a beginning trainer, so she decided to put him away. She then glanced between Lilly and Barry and was about to decide, when Lilly barked before putting herself back in her Pokeball. Ezra guessed that was decided, then!
"Let's get you checked out while we're here, just in case," Ez told Sunny, and handed her off to the Nurse. After a quick checkup, it was determined Sunny was a little dehydrated but was otherwise perfectly healthy. Feeling reassured that her childhood friend was gonna make a full recovery, they went to grab a bite to eat together, Ezra insisting Sunny get some fresh air, a full bowl of water, and some much-needed sun.

After lunch, the group went out into the grass to try to find more Pokemon, though this time they stayed as a group. Curious of it would work, Ez decided to go with a different strategy to attract Pokemon - by having fun with her own. This definitely wasn't an excuse to get to play with Sunny some more and hope she and her current Pokemon got along well.
She was elated to see Sunny running around and playing with the other Pokemon. Sid was blowing bubbles for the other Pokemon to try to hop on and jump from one to the next. Sunny was great at it, and was careful to make sure her tail didn't touch any of the bubbles. Eli had zero control over his little talons and was popping them regardless, so he started chasing bubbles to pop with his beak instead. Mellan did his best to follow Sunny, but his legs were much smaller and he couldn't go as far, he kept falling off. Barry was having a blast, chasing Sunny from bubble to bubble. Brigid, being too big to hop on any of the bubbles, was chasing Eli around to make sure he wasn't popping ones that the others were jumping on. Sid barked happily, clapping his flippers with each big bubble he blew for them.

After a while of playing and no Pokemon showing up, Ez decided to move on along. Right as she stepped back into the tall grass, Rotom whizzed out and flashed at her, "You have gifts waiting at the Pokemon Center!"
"If Rotom doesn't stop doing that, I'm going to kick it down the hill..."
Ezra blinked and looked around. She'd definitely heard a voice - feminine and rather opinionated, but she didn't see who it was. "Hello?"
"No one else is here," the voice answered. Brigid snorted, shaking out her mane and looking at Ezra. "It was me. I guess that Psychic disc thing also gave me the ability to talk to you...? Regardless, this is convenient. Everyone is thirsty, and I don't smell fresh water for a ways."
"This.... is.... AWESOME," she exclaimed. She'd always loved the Galarian Ponyta, but being able to directly communicate with one was even better! "Oh! Yeah, let's go get some water at the Pokemon Center while I see what these gifts are," she said to everyone, turning towards Brigid. "Thanks for letting me know," she pet her mane. Brigid leaned into her touch for a moment before walking towards the Center with the group.
Once there, the Nurse was sure to get enough water for everyone while Ezra checked the gifts received. A new Pokemon - a Rowlet! Another starter from the Alola region, how cool! She frowned, though, remembering she was at her max. The Nurse smiled at her, likely sure of what she was thinking. "You can have more than six Pokemon with you, but only six are allowed to battle. Personally, I wouldn't have too many more. You can only carry so many supplies!" Ezra smiled widely in response, "Oh, thank you! That makes this much easier. Sunny isn't much of a fighter, so I think that fixes that! Now, let's see here..."
Ezra spent the next several minutes checking over all the Pokemon she had in her boxes, and decided to leave things as they were and have her new Rowlet join the team. She released her newest Pokemon from his Pokeball and smiled. "You're so cute!! It's great to meet you, Rowlet! I'm Ezra, and this is everybody," she introduced them all individually. She was expecting the grassy owl to be more timid, but he seemed happy to meet everyone, even outgoing! While she thought about what to call him, she went ahead and reorganized her bag, taking stock of all the new things. Curiously, she found a red and blue piece of.... something.... that she didn't recognize. She got the sense it was rather important, so she made sure she was careful with it as she put it in its own special pocket.

As Ez had everyone packed up and ready to head back out, the Nurse came running up to her, "I'm so sorry, I forgot this was part of yours as well!" Taking the item from her outstretched hand, the new trainer looked at it and tried to figure out what it was. "It helps with training," the Nurse smiled as she turned to head back behind the counter and to her work. "Oh! Well that's handy," Ezra smiled.
"I'll take it. But hide it in my mane or something. It's hideous," Brigid responded, snorting as she took a sniff of the item. She moved closer so Ezra could do just that. After fluffing her mane back out to perfection, Ezra smiled. "There! No one's the wiser!" Brigid nodded in thanks and helped Ezra urge the rest of the team out the door. Ezra picked up Mellan so he didn't have to chase after them with such little legs, and he happily climbed up onto her shoulder to ride. "Hey, Ivar - would you mind flying around and seeing if you can spot a Pokemon for us?" He hooted in response, and flew up a few feet ahead of them to keep an eye out. It didn't take long before he hooted and signaled towards their right, flying down to meet the Pokemon in question. Ezra and the team jogged to meet him on the ground.
"It's a Drowzee! Ivar, use Astonish!" Ivar spun his head around and hooted at the Drowzee with glowing eyes. The yellow Pokemon jumped and flung a Pound in response. "Again!" Ivar repeated the move, which was enough to down the Pokemon. Brigid huffed as the device warmed under her mane for a second, but otherwise didn't complain.
"Good job, Ivar! Thanks for spotting that," she said as she threw a Pokeball at the fainted Drowzee. It wiggle once.... twice... and.... click! Yes!! As Rotom swung around to ask what she wanted to do with it, she clicked "Move to PC" and watched as the Pokeball vanished.
"I hate to point this out, but... It's going to take forever for us to grow stronger at this rate. I'd rather fight on my own." Ezra nodded, "That's fair! Let's see.... Let's head back towards town, then. I think the Pokemon there are closer to what you can handle on your own," she said, and started down the hill towards Hau'oli City.
