The first two pokemon Takumi encountered were part water type, which he found out by checking with his pokedex. It was a perfect chance for Haunani to get a little training, thanks to her freeze-dry attack. Both of the fossil pokemon disappeared once they were knocked out, but Takumi found that each of them dropped an odd disk on the ground. He felt cheated, not knowing what they were, but figured at least he could ask about them in town and sell them for some money if they were useless.

While he searched for more of the possibly lucrative fossils, Takumi pulled out his pokedex and used it on Kaladin's pokeball. "The...synthetic pokemon... So that mask isn't part of him..." Experiments, and trapped power; those were concepts that hit somewhat close to home. Not for him personally, but his family. "Fine... let's figure out a way to get that helmet off you then," he said to the pokeball, surprisingly determined.

Takumi released Kaladin again, looking the frankly ugly pokemon over. "Where did a pokemon like you come from?" He mused, inspecting the helmet. He didn't realize that not a few months ago he would have taken one look at the type:null and turned away in disgust. Kaladin took the initiative and butted against Takumi's hand, whining softly. A small bead of water dripped from the bottom of its mask where two seams met. His flipper tail wagged happily back and forth.

Takumi had a sudden, very unwelcome thought, that had him looking down at Kaladin warily. A pokemon like this..."Is anyone looking for you?" he asked. The last thing he needed was to be chased down by even more people. But the look Kaladin gave with his sunken eyes was all the answer Takumi needed. For what he didn't know, couldn't know, was that in Kaladin's designation K4L-DN, the DN stood for a series of Type:Null that were failures. Defective. No one was looking for it, and no one ever would be.

Takumi found himself needing to pay attention for the next battle. He was absolutely dumbstruck when the tiny dino's roar pushed Keahi into battle. The wolf danced in place anxiously, not sure what was going on. "Looks like you have to fight, Keahi!" At least her thunder fang attack did decent damage, and she was able to fight the dino off quick before she got in any trouble. Kaladin made a noise that sounded oddly like a mix between a screech and a trumpeting noise and hopped over in a gangly walk.

Kaladin was very enthusiastic about his gratefulness to Keahi, who had brought him to Takumi. He had been so nervous, sure that the trainer wouldn't want him. Keahi had been so right to suggest he come anyways. He thought her very pretty and smart; had he known that she was even younger than he was he would have been very surprised. Keahi was not about to clue him in on her age.

When Takumi saw that the next fossil pokemon was a water type (really, why were so many of these old rocks part water?) he decided to let Keahi battle it instead of Haunani. He had realized that she would be okay against these rock types if he was careful, and so wanted to give her a chance to battle. She was still young, but already her muscles were beginning to develop. Someday maybe even her wings would be strong enough to let her soar through the air. Takumi wasn't sure how that would work with her blindness, but he figured since she had wings, she must be able to use them.

After the next fossil pokemon, another small dinosaurlike one, Takumi's pokedex pinged. It was a short message, stating that there were no more signals coming from the fossil's devices in the area. He got a little email saying thank you for helping, and a message that a reward could be accessed via a pokemon center if he wanted it. Takumi, despite his caution about being tracked, couldn't help but be interested by the prospect of anything that might help him not be dirt poor and s**t outta luck. Maybe he would risk going to the pokemon center, just for one night...

☆ ☆【Goodness, there was just so much that could be used in here, Zoey figured that the least she could do was just try to partition it out as best she could while she used her Xtransceiver to check on her Pokemon’s info. At the very least, she could narrow it down a bit more to who could use a bit of a boost the most out of all of her Pokemon. From the looks of it, Torgeir, Eir, Jarl Reidar, and Ingrid seemed to be more or less set for now, though a couple of them could do with maybe a few adjustments here and there. Pulling out the rest of her rather modest collection of Heart Scales, Zoey tried her best to divide them up among the others who could really use them. Lukas and Freya got one scale each, Storm took two of them, while Viola got the lion’s share of the scales, ultimately leaving Zoey with two more remaining. She’d probably find some means of using them a little later on as she moved on to the small collection of TMs she had amassed, giving Scald and Thunder to Freya and Storm respectively. The Zeraora grinned gratefully as he pressed the disc to his head, feeling new energy surge through him as knowledge of the powerful Electric attack came to him. On the other hand, the Milotic needed a bit more aid as Zoey held the disc to her, her tail thumping the ground excitedly as she learned the stronger Water attack which she was happy to exchange for the weaker one she currently knew. The color drained away from the discs as their use had been fulfilled, before they simply crumbled into dust. ”Neat, just about finished using this stuff up from the looks of it,” she remarked, pulling out a few Pokeballs and recalling Ingrid, Viola, and Freya for the time being.
”Here, Eir, take this,” she suggested, pulling out one of the mushrooms she had brought at the prize booth and holding it out to the Ninetales. The fox sniffed at it, a little reluctant to eat it, but nonetheless took it. Oddly enough, it actually had a bit of a sweet flavor to it as she chewed on it, though the texture certainly left something to be desired… Swallowing it down, Eir’s eyes lit up as a nugget of knowledge seemed to awake within her conscience, this could certainly be quite useful! Next up were the rare candies… There were quite a few here from the looks of it, though most of her Pokemon were already well up to level from the looks of it. Suddenly, Lukas snatched two of the candies from her bag and devoured them before she could think to stop him. The moment he did so, however, a white light suddenly overtook him as he felt himself growing stronger. When the light faded, a Torracat now stood where the Litten had been, Lukas had finally achieved his first evolution! ”Nice! Ya know ya could’ve just asked for the candies if ya really wanted ‘em that bad,” Zoey chided gently, smiling softly as she gently patted the newly evolved Torracat on the head. Lukas simply snorted, lightly batting at her hand in a playfully dismissive gesture as his tail waved about happily.”Well well, looks like th’ lil’ lad ain’t so lil’ now!”Jarl Reidar spoke up with a laugh, bending down a little towards Lukas with a teasing grin,”Seem ya’ve still got quite a bit o’ growin’ t’ do though~”The Torracat narrowed his eyes slightly at the Pangoro, a bit disappointed that he hadn’t grown that much bigger with his evolution since the panda Pokemon still very much towered over him. Even Storm and Eir were still a fair bit taller than him, and even they were dwarfed by Jarl and Torgeir who were easily the giants of the group.”I’ll make you eat those words one day, Jarl, I’ll be playing with the big boys before you know it,”he challenged with a smirk, already more than eager to get going with training so they could actually start making progress.
”Right, think that’s enough muckin’ around for now, let’s get to trainin’ shall we?” Zoey spoke up with a nod of affirmation, packing away the rest of the items and placing the bag back on her shoulders as she gave Storm the remaining two rare candies so they wouldn’t go to waste. Turning to face the cave once more, she and her Pokemon made their way inside to see what awaited them. Hopefully the wild Pokemon here would prove to be decently challenging, she would hate to have just come here and waste time training with Pokemon that probably weren’t even all that strong when she could be forging onwards towards the first trial.】☆ ☆

Finally, however, an opponent suddenly jumped from behind a stalagmite to challenge them which happened to be a small brown dog Pokemon with a rocky mane and a rather fluffy-looking tail. Ah, a Rockruff! Well, even if this place proved to not be as useful as she had expected, at least getting one of these would be worthwhile enough as far as she was concerned. The Rockruff bared its teeth as it stared hard at them, clearly eager for a challenge.”Ooo! Oooo!
