Rules
> You may RP as many rogues as you like so long as they are all approved in the thread linked above
> By achieving the requirement for a full RP in this thread [five posts per character] you can bypass the usual dueling system needed to gain full membership
> Your character will still have won a duel to enter, it just happened off-screen.
> Adult/adolescent rogues and Firekin members are all welcome to participate in this ORP. No cubs! If you don't have any potential Firekin or any members you may use familiars.
> You may quote other RPers to get their attention.
FAQ [Questions may be asked here in-thread or PMed to the mule]
Q. My character was approved in the old guild, do I need re-approval? A. No, you do not need to reapply. There is a list of approved rogues in the old guild we can use as a reference.
Q. I've already had a failed duel with a character, can I RP here to join the pride instead? A. Yes, of course!
Q. Can I RP with my Boneland lion? A. Not during this event. The Bonelands have their own ongoing plot at this time and might be wary of the sheer numbers of Firekin who have gathered.
Q. Are all familiars welcome to the RP? A. Yes! The prey familiars will just have to be on their guard - but with the focus on recruiting and not on hunting, they should be relatively safe.
Q. Are we restricted to the areas specified in the RP prompts? A. No, you can RP at other marked areas of the map but the Guard Post, Sparring Grounds and the Spring is where most of the action will be. If you find a group of people to RP with your characters can always move to a less populated spot.
Q. I don't know many people in the Firekin, help! A. Feel free to quote either Kimaria, Ecavi or Andranis. We're happy to RP with anyone who needs a partner to interact with.

The grizzly corporal stood poised at the crest of a rock, surveying the guard post with serious, red eyes. To look at him was to see the example of your typical Firekin. He was large but stocky in stature, red as red could be, and dotted with the scars of many a conflict. The life of a guard had toughened him into an unwavering force, his scowl enhanced by long-healed scars that tufted the fur a little around his muzzle.
Beside him, lying on the rock, was his son; an altogether different creature. Sure, he looked the part, his red plat emblazoned with stripes, yet his younger face was bright with curiosity and enthusiasm. It was clear he'd been looking forward to this recruitment for a while now - eager to meet all the new faces that would be joining them.
In the distance the roars of duels were unmistakable.
Heti wondered if perhaps his father should not have chosen to go down to the training grounds instead. Maybe a fight or two might liven him up a little. He'd been rather wretched since the new regents had risen to power, bringing change and unfamiliarity. Azar'bijan had been garnering favour with Kidondo and No for years and now, it seemed, all that had been for nothing.
With a sigh, the striped Firekin slipped down from the rock and stretched, stepping forward in preparation to meet any hopefuls.

Across the way, another young guard was also waiting. She looked far more serene than most and smaller than one might expect - though that was, of course, down to her rogue blood.
Shaak had been in the Motoujamii for perhaps just over a year and had chosen to become a guard, hoping that her abilities might help to stem the flow of attacks that the desert pride had suffered. However it seemed that since her joining things had quietened down, giving her more time to ease gradually into the role.
She sat at the edge of the spring, gazing down at the water and the rippling reflection that stared back at her. She was quietly curious about what news would come to them from the outside.

The trial to join the Firekin was no easy feat. Zuka knew well the task that the new would be facing, having dueled several times before being allowed to enter. He was a quiet lion, and slighter than most, though compared to many born to the pride that was simply because he was of a different blood. Perhaps at a glance he would not be the type to mix well with the desert lines, but he enjoyed the rigor of the military lifestyle, and the sense of pride and comradery that came with belonging to such a group of lions. He had no doubt that that would be a reason to seek the pride for many lions, and he wanted to be here to welcome them, to show them a warm, kind face when they entered the ranks.
He was also here because he was a medic. When he'd joined his several battles had taught him he was not well built for the fighting roles within the pride, so he had decided to take up the medic role instead, opting to heal and treat those who were wounded. He'd dabbled in this briefly during his rogue days so he was glad to have further training. Zuka suspected one or two of the rogues may not come away from their trials unscathed, and so he opted to attend to not only greet, but to potentially treat any newcomers who were worse off than when they first entered the lands.
Zuka noticed a lioness sitting by the stream and thought it would be an ideal place to wait and see what happens. There would be company, and there would be fresh water nearby in case any wounds needed cleaning.
"I wonder what today might bring," he said to the lioness as he settled down to wait.

As a general rule of thumb the lioness had often made a point of avoiding packs, herds and prides of large beasts regardless of their species. While smaller prey animals may not prove to be much of a risk, she had watched from her vantage point for far too long to have not noticed that there were some troublesome groups that wandered to and from the regions near her home. In fact, on certain occasions the lioness had even noticed an incredible amount of violence and destruction.
Nevertheless, as the years had gone one, the dark lioness had caught wind of those just a small jaunt away from her own 'land'. She had watched them, albeit from a considerable distance, and the immediate area around what they seemed to regard as their territory. For want of a better word, they were certainly cautious towards outsiders - she could scarcely gain information on them and quite frankly, she hadn't been willing to try going deeper.
It was for that reason that it had taken a long time for her to gain knowledge regarding her supposed neighbours, and it had only been the assistance of some particularly gossipy migrant birds that had secured her enough information to ascertain who, and what, the Firekin might be.
They had potential, to say the least.
Thus, when she began to observe an influx of unknown faces wandering beyond the otherwise 'closed' borders she determined that it was time to investigate. Let no one claim she was a coward, she was simply a creature who assessed risk against reward and up until now there had been no reasonable reward. Now though? Well now she had the opportunity to see what lay beyond those borders...
And 'see' was exactly what she aimed to do as she too padded her way towards the outermost guard post.

Shaak tipped her head in return at Wook's acknowledging look, offering him a somewhat wan smile as he passed by. A fellow guard. She did not know him well, but she knew him, at least.
When she turned back to the water it was to see another coming to join her. His pale white pelt was strangely calming amongst the sea of red and black. "I hope," she began, "that it brings talent, but we will see. I am eager to speak with the new recruits. There is much we can learn from them - just as they can learn from us." She paused, blinking, "Forgive my ignorance, but I do not recognise you. Are you new member?"
-----
Heti, with a smile, called out a greeting to Wook and took a step forwards as if expecting him to be arriving with some new Firekin. A flash of disappointment crossed his face when he saw the other guard was alone.
"Have you been down to the sparring grounds?" He asked the other guard, wondering how busy it truly was. "Have there been any victories, yet?"
Behind him, Azar'bijan growled and turned his head, "someone's coming."
Heti blinked, turning his head to look around in the other direction. Ah. A newcomer! He began to turn in the direction that the black and orange female was coming from when, without warning, his father leapt from his spot on the rock and took the lead.
Uh oh...
"The corporal," Heti warned Wook, "is not in a particularly good mood today."

A newly joined female approached the medic, Shula, with a slight limp to her step. Her name was Sia and those who visited the border post would recognise her, for she had been training to join the Firekin for some time now. It seemed today, during this momentous event, she had finally earned entrance to the Motoujamii.
"Are...are you a medic? I was told I'd find one somewhere around here."
She came to a halt and, as she stood, lifted her left forepaw up just a little - enough to take the weight off. The wound was on the pad of her paw, a gash cut open on the terrain rather than the claw of her foe.

They were so small from a distance; she'd often drawn similarities to ants. Then again, from her vantage points even the largest of deities would have been regarded as an ant. At such heights, size was somewhat difficult to gauge and it was of some surprise to her that the closer she came to the guard post, the larger the lions seemed. In fact, it seemed that one was growing at a much more dramatic rate than the others.
...Much more dramatic in fact.
She halted, lifting her head and drawing herself to her full height as she regarded the approaching Corporal. He wasn't moving at an extremely fast rate, but his gait certainly indicated a sense of purpose; more importantly, his body language was not entirely welcoming. There was a mild amount of hostility in the manner in which he carried himself and she would do well to proceed with some level of caution.
As the gap closed between them, the lioness pursed her lips and came to a halt. Ensuring that she had ample distance for whatever she might need to do - if others could get in, then it was reasonable to expect that she could as well. She just had to work out precisely how it was they had entered... granted it might have been while another was on duty, but one could never be sure until they had investigated the query.
It took all of her restraint not to raise her brow expectantly - she could often carry herself with a level of confidence that might have come across as arrogance. However if she had been a betting lioness, she would have put quite an amount on that rather disgruntled red lion wanting to get a word or two in!

Even after all his travels, Kaa wasn't sure he could say he'd been to anywhere quite like the Motoujamii deserts. The vast expanses of sand seemed so empty that it was a wonder to him that anything could survive here - let alone a pride as big as the one he'd been allowed to join. Well, after a duel of course. It was an unusual custom, but he supposed it made sense in its own way. A pride in such a harsh environment couldn't afford to take on new members without knowing for sure they could pull their own weight.
In fact, his own duel was freshly finished. A nice, even draw. Maybe not something another member would be proud of, but considering his own lack of solid combat experience or training, he was proud he'd done as well as he had. Sure, he matched a good chunk of the natural born members in size - his mother's blood, no doubt - but he lacked their bulk and training. He was just a little rough around the edges, and now that he'd been accepted into the pride he was at a bit of a loss about just where he'd fit in. Certainly not a soldier or a guard, but surely the Motoujamii had more ranks available than that of a hunter. Not that hunting wasn't an important role. It just... Seemed a bit boring to him.
He just needed to find someone who wouldn't too annoyed with him asking questions to figure out where he'd fit in.

Admittedly, this was a long time coming. Winde had been intent on joining the Motoujamii since the day she'd heard whispers of them after leaving the Aikanaro'hini. It was the perfect place for her to settle down, maybe have a few strong cubs of her own. Not immediately, of course. She had to settle in and prove that she could pull her own weight, first. It certainly wouldn't look very good if she got pregnant almost immediately after her duel. Oh, sure, she could probably play it off as a moment of passion after the heat of battle, but she didn't want to start her life in the Motoujamii with lions whispering behind her back about the possibility she'd joined while pregnant.
So cubs were a thing for the future. The thing for now was to get a nice drink of water after all that exercise out in direct sunlight. It was a shame the Motoujamii didn't seem to follow her birth pride's routine of being primarily active after moonrise - the sunlight didn't really agree with her dark coat. But she supposed that was a sacrifice she would need to make. For now, she could do her best to cool herself with a drink. Perhaps later she could find somewhere shady to lay for just a few moments.
Ecavi If Agni is willing, Kaa has some questions about Firekin ranks!
