He had been watching the pride for some time now, having long since left his birth pride in search of something that settled between the spaces of his spine like he felt a destiny should. This the thrum and vibe of warrior lions made up of fire and strength fit perfectly in those empty spaces and when he breathed, it felt like he was breathing in the scent of home.

And so, he'd spent time learning what it took to be able to make this hot, sandy place home.

Then, he sought out someone he could fight, duel, to prove himself worthy. He found a lioness and approached her cautiously, head tilted. "I'm hoping you won't mind an intrusion. I'm seeking a duel, for entrance."

Whenever Alya found herself at the borders she hoped for a rogue challenger. She always fancied herself a fight and found that battle with rogues was, if anything, interesting. She respected her fellow pridemates highly and many of them were completely capable of dueling, but new blood sometimes brought new tactics and it was always entertaining to see what sort of fighters there were out there. It was just that much more to keep her on her toes.

So when she saw the outsider approaching her, Alya couldn't help but let a smile peek onto her features. She lounged in the warm sands, but stood as the male approached her. The soldier let him speak and, when he had finished, she stepped back an appropriate starting distance away. "I am Urit'alya, Soldier of these lands, and your intrusion is more than welcome," she spoke. The lioness then lowered to the ground slightly, muscles tensed and ready. "And your challenge is accepted," she said, inviting him to make the first move."

Jamar liked her welcoming attitude, watching as her stance shifted into something battle ready. It was what he had been hoping for, the coiling fire inside his ribcage burning hotly as his pale blue eyes regarded the female and the gears of his brain began to turn.

Without overthinking it, because he couldn't gauge her prowess from merely staring at her, he lunged forward with his teeth and claws bared. The first movement turned out to be a feint, with Jamar quickly sliding in the sands to the left before he swiped out at her.

As the other lion moved towards her, a grin shone on her face. So he would come at her head on. An interesting tactic. As she braced herself to move out of the way of his first attack, however, she realized that all wasn't as it seemed. The feint caught her off guard and as she felt claws break skin at her side she snarled.

Respectable.

Her teeth gnashed and she regained her footing, sand sliding underneath her feet as she quickly changed direction. She didn't know what to expect and she had to be more on top of it, she thought to herself as she moved to lunge at him. Her aim went to his legs as she attempted to disrupt his footing.

Move 2: Bide

A surge of pride swelled within his chest as he made contact, maw curling with the hints of a smirk before it vanished and his expression returned to one of utter focus. His senses needed to stay sharp and his eyes followed her movement, paws having him skitter back as her teeth snapped and she lashed out at his legs.

He jumped just enough to avoid the swipe, heart pounding in his chest as his ears flattened against his skull.

He slid a few steps back, creating space between the pair as his mind cranked to decide what would be next. He needed a moment to think.

Move 2: Hit

As her opponent moved back, Alya took a moment to regain her composure. Her footing shifted beneath her, her weight centering once more. The lioness recognized that if she was going to be victorious she couldn't linger for too long. As the lion took his moment to think, Alya cut her own pause short and lunged forwards. Her paws were stretched out before her but her claws were sheathed. Instead, the lioness aimed for his shoulder in an attempt to knock him over with the weight of her lunge.
