Mom was gone, dad was weird and Nyesha was growing like a weed. She didn't seem bothered by the rocky start her little family had and she was off on an adventure after managing to steal away from under her father's nose. There hadn't been any time to ask Kua or Tarafa to join her, so she was all by herself.

She had managed to get quite far away- or so it seemed to the small cub- and was looking every which way, trying to take it all in. She paid no attention to the other creatures around her, there were none that were her size and so she didn't care to notice. The world around her was fascinating but sure enough, she got distracted from that too before long. A few feet from the nearby path, she settled in to dig herself a hole- wondering just how far down she could go and what she would find there.

Na'al was wandering through the pride when she saw something very bright moving in the dirt. Upon closer inspection, the blue resolved itself into the fur of a particularly bright cub who was busy digging a hole in the ground. The lioness looked around, but saw nobody nearby who might be a parent or Nanny.

Well, someone might be looking for the youngster sooner or later, but she might as well see to it that the kid had some kind of supervision until then. So the navy female walked over to the hole in progress.

"Are you looking for something?" she asked the cub.

With a loud squeak, the dirt-covered cub practically jumped out of her work-in-progress. With wide-eyes she stared at the lioness who had found her.. and then she relaxed. It wasn't daddy, it.. wasn't anybody she really recognized.

"Kinda," she answered, hopping back into the shallow hole in the ground, "Do you know how far down the dirt goes?"

Nyesha tilted her head curiously at Na'al.

"I don't know," Na'al told the cub seriously as she examined the little one before her. A leopon, she guessed, from the body shape, but she wasn't entirely certain whose. She probably should be better informed about who currently had cubs. The Heiress made a mental note to fix that.

"I suppose we should find out though," she commented. After all, who was she to destroy the cub's fun?

"So what's your name?" the adult asked as she came closer to the hole.

Nyesha's nose scrunched up at the suggestion that the lioness would help her find out, looking Na'al up and down skeptically before settling on her paws. They were a lot bigger than her own, they could probably get a lot more dirt.. so the cub grinned.

"OK!" she said, scooting over a bit to make room- though it didn't change very much, "My name is Nyesha! What's your name?"

"It's good to meet you Nyesha, I'm Na'al," the lioness replied as she started digging - though not nearly as enthusiastically as the cub. Nyesha...ah, yes, now she knew who the cub was. Her soon-to-be niece, as soon as she and Maji became Queen and King. Who was named for one of Maji's ancestors, if she remembered correctly.

The Heiress dug deliberately, a contrast to the flurry of Nyesha beside her. She didn't ask if Ua knew where his daughter was, the poor lion hadn't exactly wanted to be a father and seemed a bit overwhelmed. At least this one wouldn't get into any trouble now.

"How far down do you think the dirt goes?" she asked the child beside her.

The cub gave Na'al a toothy grin after her introduciton but didn't say anything else, lacking practice in polite introductions. She resumed digging, slowly covering herself in more dirt as she went and ultimately accomplishing far less than her new companion did. After getting a pawful of dirt into her own face, she shook her head off and stopped to reconsider her actions-- watching how Na'al was digging.

"I dunno, it's gotta be far- else how would it hold everything up?" she said reasonably with a confident nod, then carefully started mimicking her aunt. It was significantly less fun than digging like a maniac but if it worked, it worked.

"If the dirt holds everything up, should we be trying to dig so deep?" Na'al wondered aloud. She wasn't even certain the cub would care. A child's logic, she knew, was not always the same as an adult's. Which was certainly interesting and could be frustrating and entertaining - often at the same time.

Regardless, she was happy to help Nyesha dig. There was something calming about simply moving the dirt around instead of having to think very hard about very important issues.

Nyesha paused when asked if they should be digging as deep as they could. She opened her mouth to say it was fine because if they made a hole, it wasn't holding anything up-- but then she realized she was sitting in the hole they were digging. With no verbal explanation, she hopped out of the hole and resumed work.

"There!" she said cheerily, "Now we can keep digging!"

The lioness blinked at the leopon's leap of logic. It was, well, it was cub logic. And really, who was she to argue with a cub? There was no sense, since Nyesha probably wouldn't understand. And she certainly didn't want to depress the little girl. Cubs were weirdly fragile and resilient at the same time, that was what people kept telling her. So she didn't want to accidentally damage her niece.

"Okay then," the Heiress agreed as she continued to dig the hole wider. At least she didn't think anyone would be upset with the unexpected hole. It didn't look like any plants had been dug up, and that was all Na'al could think of that people might complain about.

She hoped that someone came looking for Nyesha before it came to that.

Digging from the outside was much harder work than digging from the inside of the hole- her legs simply were not long enough to do as much work with as little effort. It guaranteed that she would tire of the effort to determine just how far down the dirt goes. Unlike Na'al, she was hoping nobody would come looking for her.. but she was content to have company during her little adventure.
