Basic Overview: The Khon is a Mercenary Clan, originating on the desert to the west of the former Jahy Sarlarin lands. Though called the Desert Mercenaries for now, the clan will be traveling throughout the lands. Originally fueled by a small group of warriors seeking their own vengeance, the original clan members opened their group to taking on further warriors and began accepting work from those unable to seek their own justice. This group isn't an official pride and unless there is enough interest it will most likely remain as an unofficial group collected for plot purposes.
At the moment there aren't any real ranks in this group. That might change later.
Backstory: After the disbanding of the Jahy Sarlarin various warriors were scattered into the rogue lands. Of these warriors was the lioness Esta bint Dasha, of the Burkuteshti. A fighter at heart, Esta found herself without a cause to fight for and resigned herself to a family. Not finding another pride that suited her interests, the lioness settled into an area in the rogue lands with her new mate and children. All was not good, however, as she soon lost her new family to a merciless wandering lion who first stole their possessions, only to slaughter Esta's mate and children before disappearing into the desert. Furious and battle-ready, Esta began her search for vengeance.
Knowledgeable that she would need more forces to effectively take the lion down, Esta sought out her former pridemates Gaspard and his mate Evren. Feeling loyal to their former sister-in-arms and themselves feeling lost after leaving their home, the two lions agreed to assist Evren in her cause.
They have yet to find the lion they sought but in seeking information in various areas, they found various other individuals with similar causes. Esta and Gaspard agreed to take in warriors to assist in exchange for the accomplishment of various other goals. Before they knew it, they had a system going. The three lions, competent in battle, would train newcomers and move through the lands seeking out "quests" in exchange for information, valuables, membership, or alliances.
The Code The Khon will accept any species. They would have an obvious preference towards those who were capable of battle but, as size grows, they would also be accepting of individuals who would accomplish other goals such as creating relations with other groups/prides/clans, or caring for young. If an individual joins with a family, the family is welcome to travel with them. Familiars are also welcome. Basically, if you have a use then you have a place. Loyalty is of the upmost importance to the clan. Any betrayal of the clan by any member will result in the (violent) expulsion of that member from the pride Joining mercenaries will be expected to make a blood pact with the existing members. In exchange for a mercenary's loyalty to the clan, the individual will have full backing of the clan members. While clan members will be inherently violent, they are not barbaric. Members will be wary of needlessly violent individuals as they don't want to be making enemies all over the place (though violent lions could make for fun plots!) On the flip side, those who find themselves in the clan but aren't combat-ready are okay! They will be trained by the existing members. The clan will take "quests" from other individuals or groups if they find the cause to be a good one. In exchange for the job the clan will want something in return, whether it be membership (from the individual, a representative, or a child to be raised as a member of the clan), information, goods, or allegiance (in the case of another group/pride) The clan will operate on the decision of the group. Should it get to a point where this becomes difficult, the group will follow the order of the two leaders. (This leadership may become a council at some point) These guys are... morally gray. ICly, leadership will decide what jobs they take with input from the group and they'd be a little hesitant on taking jobs that they think will net them a bunch of enemies, or will split the group morally. But if the reasoning or payment were good enough...
