ASPIRATIONS/PERSONALITY/BIO

Aspirations: To get his hands on a permanent weapon of his own and then use it to fight all the strongest people and monsters that he can find.

Personality: Gahiji is a strange sort of person, one that doesn't seem as though he is all there mentally. It might in fact be true given the way that he goes about his daily life, tending to spend a lot of his time searching for a 'real' challenge, favoring the sort that could easily get him killed. He seems to completely lack the voice in his head that tells him something is dangerous or that he shouldn't do it, instead just throwing himself into any battle that he finds eagerly. He seems to be addicted to fighting and winning (at least the idea of it), no matter the shape that he ends up in afterwards. His hunger for battle often leaves him covered in wounds but the pain seemingly doesn't bother him, or maybe it's something that he enjoys as well as it show him that he is in fact alive.

Due to the manner in which he faces things the idea of meeting someone stronger then him, as in extremely so, he would find himself with a deep respect for that person as well as have a deep seeded desire to continue to challenge them. No matter how many times he suffers a loss he will still want to continue to follow (and bother) that person. Strength in others is something he would admire, but want to challenge, it's also something that he would find attractive. His version of love would be something more closely akin to the respect/admiration/obsession that would come with meeting a powerful individual.

The challenging of other warriors aside he will also be a big fan of battling it out with beasts of all varieties, though he will mainly want to take on the most dangerous ones. The bigger, badder ones with sharp teeth and claws being the 'best' ones in his mind when it comes to what he wants to fight against. The more the merrier as well. Gahiji will seem, to some at least, as though he as a death wish but its not really death that he's seeking in his battles. Not that he is sure about any sort of end goal, not the sort that looks that far ahead, only really seeing the next battle.

Bio: Gahiji was the only son that was born between a Oban noblewoman and one of the Matori servants that served her household that she fell in love with. After learning that she was with child the two of them fled from the city in Oban that they lived in to instead live abroad, wanting their child to be able to live freely, and to hopefully grow up out from under the thumb of her father. Even after the Matori slaves were freed after the war she didn't return home, not trusting her family with her husband or her son, doubting that they would accept them into the family given where her husband had started out. They found some peace for a while in Matori, with Gahiji being born in one of the smaller villages in the land of water. They stayed there for a only a short time before moving on again though, not wanting to stay in one place for too long lest her family catch up with them.

It was something that worked for a while, though it wasn't a peace that was meant to last it would seem. Gahiji isn't sure what happened to his parents exactly. He was still just a child when he lost them and in his mind whatever really happened was twisted, leaving him to think that 'monsters' of some sort killed them though at the same time he thinks that maybe it could have been two legged monsters as well. In his mind he can only see it as a nightmare situation, one in which his parents were killed, and he was meant to be killed as well. The attack was where he got his first scar (mentioned in the description section) and is what is left behind by those that tried to kill him. Whether it was people hired by his mother's family, someone that was actually a part of the family, or actual monsters he doesn't really know. All that is certain is that the attack is what changed him greatly from a normal child to be the person that he is today.

After the attack it was a few Matori fishermen that found and saved him, the same people that raised him for a time since he was the only one left alive. Since they'd saved him they saw him as their responsibility even though it was obvious that they didn't know the right way to raise a child. Despite that though they were good people, those who tried their best. The problem being that his habit of challenging others started to bubble up in him as time passed, seeming to only get worse and worse the older that he got. His new 'family' does their best to deal with him, though him challenging them like a beast challenging its alphas does wear on them at times.

Partially due to knowing he could be a bother to his 'family' as well as a need to get stronger and to challenge others causes him to wander away fairly often, going far and wide looking for something that will help to feed his need for battle. His 'territory' as it were seems to be the area between Baun and Sald, reaching over to the ocean, as well as a ways into Oba.

Once he gets older, and gets his hands on a weapon, he means to leave his 'territory', to seek out stronger and stronger beasts and people to take on. He wants to face all sorts of things head on, instead of just sticking to one area. The idea of sitting still for too long isn't something he'd even consider as idleness drives him crazy. One such plot is for him to start picking fights with Keilana when he learns that a 'strong person is running a school' seeing her as a desirable opponent.

He will take on anyone he possibly can between Matori and Tale though, finding himself ever eager for battle no matter the circumstances or the condition he might be in.

~ Yaotl Fang Spear: Gahiji made his spear with pieces that he was given by his guardians. The fang of the Yaotl is large and sharp, making the perfect hunting weapon for the young hybrid to wield.

~ Yaotl Mask: A mask that was made completely by hand by Gahiji this mask is something he wears while hunting to appear more intimidating. It seems to work well from what he's seen so far making it a crucial piece of equipment in his mind.

~ Kinte: An older Matorian Fisherman, Kinte has a bit of gray in his hair showing his age. He's a strong older man though, built of pure muscle that came from years of fishing. He and Meint are the ones that found Gahiji after the attack that claimed his parents and the two have raised him ever since.

~ Meint: A Matorian Fisherman, he is older then Gahiji by younger then Kinte. He is built almost as strong as Kinte is from years of fishing. Helped to raise Gahiji after the pair found him. Tends to pick on Gahiji a bit as he finds it funny to get a rise out of him.

~ A tiny little whelp that he found while hunting far bigger prey. Lagia is of no use to him presently but he will keep the beast as a 'emergency food ration' for now. If push comes to shove he can always turn him into a nice pair of blue and orange boots later!

Earthlings: Fire

The people of Oba live in cramped conditions, producing Tendaji's first real cities to reside in its time. These fire earthlings live in a desert-like environment with two large Oases that the cities crowd around. This requires light, breezy fabric and shoes to endure the heat of the sands during the day.

The fire earthlings of Oba have skin ranging from a medium tan to a skin the shade of night, all in a reddish hue. Their hair is dominated by reds and browns, ranging from light browns to dark deep reds and blacks, this red hue seems to also carry into their eyes, ranging from light light red, almost white, to deep wine colors. Like the other earthlings of Tendaji, the Obans have crystals, though these crystals are large, orange, and shaped like smoothed, polished rocks, not round, but not rough either. These large orange crystals are found almost exclusively on their shoulders and upper backs, possibly creeping up to their necks or as far forward as their upper chest, residing in virtually no other place on their bodies.

Due to the structure of their society and the working of their people, they have a wide spread belief that they not only are the favored people of Tendaji, but they are meant to rule the rest of their neighbors. Even those who do not actively want to conquer, can't seem to find it in themselves to care about what happens to the other folks of Tendaji, having the ingrained belief that they are chosen by the gods and turning a cheek to the rest of Tendaji, almost as if they don't know how to acknowledge other's sufferings or degrading positions in comparison to their own society.

Religion: The people of Oba believe in a whole pantheon of Gods and Goddesses, partitioning all parts of life to a god such as birth, death, fishing, ocean, a king and queen of the gods, etc. There is always a different name to pray to depending on the situation at hand. The major players in their pantheon include:

On'os God of time and fortune
Lenoxe Goddess of fishing and feasts
Kiyom God of wood and lumber

Government: The people of Oba live under a nobility system that peaks with a King to dictate all that goes on in his lands. The King and his family, as well as many of the nobles live in Sulburi, Oba's capitol, while there are lesser nobles living in the other large cities as the eyes and ears of the King. The King also dictates the forces of his army, which involve another system of rank including generals, advisors, and strategists that all live within the city of Sulburi in the surrounding area of the palace.

NEW: After the war against Oba the original king has been replaced by his cousin, now known as King Elitharius. His daughter, Naevius, has become the official princess of Oba.

Earthlings: Water

The people of Matori live in small, very humble huts and shacks in Matori's cities and villages. Their conditions in the larger villages are cramped, while the outskirts spread farther out to accommodate what farming they can do to provide for themselves. Their proximity at all times to the water has made light and loose clothing something of a norm, as well as anything aquatic and fish inspired designs.

The water earthlings are one of the most unique looking race of earthlings in Tendaji, with blue-green skin and lighter green markings that seem to be located in the same location and pattern for all the people of Matori with only the slightest variation in the number of dots. They do not have crystals, and their eyes are a golden-yellow or orange in color with pupils that sit as horizontal ovals rather than the perfect circle. Their ears are arguably their most unique feature, seeming to have taken on the resemblance of a fin, with an almost transparency to them. Their hair is commonly black but can range from mid to very dark blue-greens and greens, and their eyebrows seem to grow in patches rather than a continuous line.

The people of Matori have been under the control of Oba for as long as they have known in their histories. While they and born and raised in Matori, the majority of their inhabitants are picked as slaves at any variation of age depending on the work that needs doing. Now that they have been freed of their bondage to Obans, their culture is beginning to find ways to separate itself from the fire earthlings and become something unique.

Religion: The people of Matori, due to their close though rather forced relationship with Oba, believe in the same pantheon of Gods and Goddesses as their former enslavers, though a few of the names seem to have shifted and evolved. There is always a different name to pray to depending on the situation at hand. The major players in their pantheon include:

Government: Having been under the control of Oba for so long, there isn't much of a governmental system for the people of Matori. They have lived their lives and their history as the very bottom rank of Oba's governmental views. Now that they have been freed of their oppressors, they are beginning to establish their own government based on a group of counselors who live on the market chain to the south. Those who have problems seek out a meeting with the counselors to come to a solution. Counselors are usually the most successful merchants and some of the strongest warriors during the War.

Update: Over ten years has now passed since the people of Matori were freed. Their commerce and trade has increased exponentially, and their people are flourishing as a culture of their own. (This also means that quested characters should take this into account when designing their histories)
