User ImageAruná paced, and had done so for quite some time now. Udongo had excused herself to go on an errand some time ago, and that was just as well. She had a feeling she would have started snapping at her sister if she'd been here still, and she didn't really want that.

Cy... She hadn't said yes to his mate offers, and he'd asked her again, but they had spent a lot of time together. Eating together. A lot of intimate... discussions... together. The results were predictable, but had still managed to get her off balance. She counted the heartbeats again trying to remember her Minder's lessons back in the day. Did she smell different, or was it just her imagination?

She had a feeling Udongo already knew what was up, but thankfully she hadn't said anything yet. Perhaps she waited for Aruná to tell her? It wasn't showing, and she knew it wouldn't prevent her from hunting if she'd want to do that. But they were there, and it was freaky.

When the male arrived he was concerned about Aruná. The male had just gone out to do a bit of hunting. Cool his nerves down. He had spent a lot of time with the dark lioness and she still hadn't accepted his offers of being his mate. Yet he had been spending more time within her own den than his own hovel. He would not say they were an item but it sure felt like it. He hadn't wanted to dwell on it but here he was dwelling on it. He was supposed to go on another Viking soon but he felt it just couldn't come fast enough.

Entering the den as if it were his he first looked for Undongo. He did not mind her presence, actually quite enjoyed it. Maybe it was because it was another sort of family member. Someone who knew his dirty little secret. Especially now as he was hearing more and more about how they hated pirates. Which was still fine by him. He was still apart of them and until something changed that was how this worked.

"Ey there Aruná. Where be Udongo?" He asked.

Aruná stopped pacing as Cy entered her den, but he would probably be able to tell she was a bit agitated. She went to greet him with a head buff, still feeling a bit twitchy. Sooner or later she'd have to tell him about their predicament, but for now she wanted to delay the inevitable and do something familiar like greeting him. She didn't think he'd bail on her, but who knew what he'd think?

"Did you do some sparring," she asked, giving him a sniff and noticing he was sweaty, "Udongo went to do an errand. She'll be back soon."

She actually didn't know how soon Udongo would be back, since she'd forgot what kind of errand her sister had talked about. Normally she didn't forget things like that, and it annoyed her that she was so easily distracted lately. She figured it was probably best to assume that Udongo could be back anytime.

"Just a bit of hunting." The dark male replied. He noticed she as agitated and wanted to tread lightly. Why she was so agitated Cythraul had no clue but he did not want her to be agitated at him for any reason. Or maybe she already was. Females were so hard sometimes. "Aye." Keeping his responses short and sweet. She sure was acting strange and although he wanted to ask what was wrong he also didn't want to. It wasn't like he was scared of her. Maybe scared of losing her but not scared of her. He was a strong male after all and he was sure he could hold up against her if she ever wanted to fight.

"Aruná. What be wrong?" Finally spitting the words out, "Ye be mad 'er sumthin' and I dunnae 'ow ta 'elp." The pirate asked. Curious as to what was ailing the goddess like female before him.

Aruná smiled when she learned what he'd been up to. Most reavers left any hunting to the thralls, and would go to great lengths to avoid doing it even when out on a viking. Cy was different, and it made her think of the times they'd hunted together. But there was no time to think about the good old days. Cy was far from stupid and he could tell when something wasn't right. Better spit it out. Soon. Right now... Yeah. She took a deep breath and swallowed to try to regain some moisture in her mouth.

"We're having cubs," she finally said, looking him straight in the eyes.

She wasn't sure what kind of reaction she was hoping for, but she had never been this nervous before.

That... That was not what he expected to hear when he had come back from hunting. He looked at her for a moment and blinked a few times too as if waiting for something else to come out of the female's maw. She was joking? Though with how calm she was when she had said it Cythraul was quite sure that Aruná meant it. That was bound to happen right? All the time they had spent together... Happy accident.

"Cubs." He finally said the word. Although it was more like a mewl of a sound than anything else and also somewhat scared. Which was odd for the large dark pirate. He had somewhat noticed her gaining a bit of weight but he hadn't wanted to say anything. "Do ye know 'ow many thar will be?" He was excited to be a father. "Aruná ye don't know 'ow much this be pleasin' me."

Waiting for him to say something was killing her. It was impossible to read his expression or guess his thoughts, and she felt herself getting twitchy again. When he finally spoke, he wasn't upset, he seemed shocked but pleased. She allowed herself to relax just a notch.

"I don't know, more than two I think," Aruná said with a small smile, "I guess we'll see."

She had no haruspex to ask for a small sacrifice, so there was no way to tell how many or what genders they could expect. Back in Mizimu pregnant females knew just who to turn to. She wondered if one of the Priestesses of the pride could do something similar. Or maybe do something to ward off evil spirits. She'd talk to Udongo later, maybe they could manage a simple ritual of some sort. She hadn't been taught much along those lines, more than the basic good omen - bad omen minder stuff. But they also needed to do this right, the Stormborn way.

"We have to get married," she blurted.

More than two. Well that was a start to a new family. He was a bit nervous about it of course. Being a new father and also a first time father was going to be a big step for him. He had played with a few of the cubs back with the pirates but he had never had any of his own. Being able to help shape their futures was going to be fun.

When Aruná said that she wanted to marry him, Cythraul looked at her. Silver eyes blinking a few times. Wait was she now accepting him as a mate? "O'course." Was his response to that. Of course he'd marry her if that meant that she'd be his. It was what he wanted, her to be his mate.

"Good," she said, "Good..."

She'd definitely have to go find a priestess tomorrow then. They might both be Outlander born, but she would make sure their marriage would be a feast to remember. Akatta had taught her much about what was expected of a freeborn wife, and Aruná found herself looking forward to being just that. Ruling the household with a firm paw, tending to cubs and thralls. And speaking of that...

"I think we'll need another thrall," she said. "Could you find something maybe? Just not a lion, or half-lion and nothing green."

Half spirited creatures were just sad, and she wouldn't feel right getting a lion thrall. A spiritless creature like a leopard or cheetah was something else. They didn't have a spirit like a lion, so they were better suited for servitude. Cy had his bird thrall, but she'd never dream of ordering the bird around. Hopefully he'd be able to find something for her on his next raid, or trade for a nice thrall.

The dark pirate viking grinned at the gorgeous female. Thralls. The concept was still strange to him but the idea was so so depending on who or what the thrall might be. "I can try." He hoped she wouldn't be too mad if he did end up taking home lion thralls.

To a new future together. Married mates. Married mates with cubs on the way. He was excited to see the little fur balls the two of them were going to produce. He hoped there were a few fighting spirits that he could help mold to become pirate vikings. Hopefully girls too.
