[Chal] Proving your worth (Tamala x Shireen)

Shireen's ears pricked up at the sound of a foreign roar as she walked past the dueling area commonly used for rogues who wished to join. Hmm, maybe she could stand to sharpen her skills. The black lioness looked around curiously. Was anyone else around to take it the challenge? It seemed she was the closest one. Excellent.

She loped over to find who had called on her. A dark lioness was waiting for her.

"Hello, Challenger. My name is Shireen. If you wish to join the Stormborn, you will have to face me," she declared.

"Excellent." Shireen smiled. She liked bravery in a lion. Though she might be a rogue trying to join, she was acting fairly Ironborn. Good for her. She didn't want to lose, but good for this lioness if she bested her and gained entry.

"I'll start this." Shireen called out and lunged at the lioness. She took a swipe at her, but decided she would go easy on the lioness for her first attack. Hopefully she wasn't underestimating this female. She aimed for the green markings on the female's shoulder. It would knock her off balance if she connected, or at least be a good measure of how well she could dodge or take a hit.

Shireen had been taking it easy on this lioness. Too easy, it seemed. She underestimated this lioness because she was not Stormborn like Shireen, and it cost her dearly. She was knocked backwards forcefully and hit the ground like a ton of bricks, some deep scratches in her shoulder as well. The reave barely had time to react, but it was sloppy and she had been unable to gather herself before launching a second assault. This one would be slightly stronger than the first, but having had the wind knocked out of her and her side open up meant she couldn't put too much power behind it.

Shireen struck out at the lioness again, now favoring her right side where she had been gouged, she clawed with her front left paw's claws extended.

Tamala's strike was only a glancing blow. A claw raked Shireen's side, but left only a shallow cut that would be the first among her injuries to heal. However, in her lean backwards to dodge the lioness' offense, Shireen's own attack was ill-preformed. The lioness had also intended to strike with a paw, but had already thrown the majority of her momentum into the attack before Tamala was a clear mark or before Shrieen herself had stopped moving entirely. It wouldn't do much, either.

The viking lioness furrowed her brows and let out a growl. It was more at herself than the challenger. She was a Stormborn, gods damn it! She was supposed to be an innately strong battler. If not, then what was the point?
