A shrine dedicated to the Guardian of the Forest found deep in the woods. Supposedly an empty shrine, but many still believe that the Guardian resides inside even thought no one has seen it.

Location: Grassland - Unknown Path
Marco got an ear-full after he said his second apology to Skylar. The words had simply escaped his lips and maybe Skylar did have a point, he used the word too much. Her outburst had made him realize something that he didn't thought about before; if a person was always apologizing then how would you know their words are genuine? It similar to how a nice person was nice to everyone because if they were always nice then how would you know if you mean anything to them. He wasn't too sure about Skylar's feelings since she probably leaned more towards the annoying part, but maybe he had made it so that she couldn't trust him. That thought alone made him feel bad, things just weren't going anywhere and he wasn't sure what to do to change the mood. Maybe there just wasn't anything he could do so he remained silent even after Skylar's last words. He said what he wanted to say and if she didn't believe him then he couldn't do anything about it. Marco continued to face forward piercing red eyes looking ahead as the sun started to set.
They had entered another wooden area and due to the sun going down it was becoming hard to see anything. Marco stopped running when he saw that he couldn't see any of the pokemon anymore. "Oh no..." Marco looked around and then raised his hands to his mouth and cupped them, "Charmander! Murkrow!" He shouted, but there was no response. He tried again, but the result was the same. "They couldn't have gotten far, we weren't that far ahead of us," Marco tried to rationalize looking back at Skylar as he started moving forward again. However, the night phase of the day had begun and the forest was too dark to see even your own feet. Having your eyes see only darkness would frighten anyone, but there was no fear in Marco's eyes. Maybe it was the adrenaline because his heart was beating fast from all the running, but fear? No, that was not an emotion that registered in him at the moment. If anything his mind was clear as he tried to think about how to find their pokemon.
"Stay close, Skylar, if we lose each other here then its only going to get worse," he spoke with a certain amount of authority in his voice which was again something different considering how small he had sounded earlier. Marco continued walking making sure that Sklyar was following him and stopping every now and then to give her time to catch up; her leg cast must be bothering her by now, he thought.."We have to look for Charmander's tail, if we can see his fire then it'll lead us to them." And he was right because just a little ahead was the glimpse of a small flame glowing in the distance. "There they are!" Marco went after that flame and indeed there was Charmander, Murkrow, and Ace the Noibat all present.
Marco noticed then when they reached them, it was no longer dark in the forest. There was some light coming from the trees and plants nearby as if they were glowing. There seemed to be a path created from this glowing trees and plants, a path made of light. "What is this?" Marco asked out-loud not sure what to think about the image he was seeing. Charmander pointed at the path, "you want to follow it? the fire lizard nodded. Marco looked back at Skylar wondering what she was going to do. Now that she found her pokemon then would she just leave? And if she did leave then he couldn't just let go back through the forest on her especially not at night.

Skylar didn't hear him complain about what she said, in fact she was a bit surprised by that. However, that didn't mean that she trusted him or anything. Besides he was probably cursing her out in his mind, after all that's what everyone else did. Not that she cared much what he thought, after all Marco wasn't really someone she cared for much at all. Like she said earlier he was just a thorn in her side, an annoyance. It was then that it got really dark really fast. How long had they been out chasing their pokemon? It didn't seem like it had been that long at all, so why had she not noticed this before? It was then that Marco raised his hand to his mouth, and called out to his pokemon. When he got no response back, Skylar didn't bother to try calling out to Ace. After all he'd be able to hear Marco, and he'd know that he was with him after all. It was then that he stated that their pokemon couldn't have gotten that far ahead of them, and Skylar agreed "calm down, I'm sure they're fine. At least they're with each other, if we're attack by a wild pokemon we're at a bigger risk" she said. it was true, they were alone in the dark. If they were to meet a wild pokemon they're be totally screwed.
It was then that Marco told her to stay close, and that if they lost one another it would only get worse. What pissed her off was that out of character authority he seemed to be giving her "I'm not stupid, and don't order me around" she muttered, rolling her eyes. Since when was he in charge of her? She didn't need him to baby her, that was the absolute LAST thing she needed right now. It was then that he stated that if they look for charmander's tail they'd fine the pokemon. She looked at him, before ruffling through her bag and pulling out a flashlight. She had one on hand, but it was small and had low battery life. However, it would be good to use for now. So she turned it on to help her see through the darkness. It took them awhile, but eventually the small flame from Marco's pokemon was visible and just in time too. Her flashlight flickered before dying out just as they made their way over to them.
However, to both their surprise the darkness receded and light filled up the area around them. It was strange, and Skylar honestly didn't have an explanation for what exactly she was seeing. Whatever it was, it was beautiful. She'd never admit that out loud, but she did stare at them for a while until Marco's voice brought her back to reality. Her eyes moved over to him as he asked aloud what it was, and asked his pokemon if he wanted him to follow. Ace had obediently returned to her side after receiving a disapproving glance. The little bat pokemon knew he was in trouble for flying off like that, but it also wanted her to follow the path. She grumbled, crossing her arms "don't tell me you want me to follow as well?" she asked her partner. Ace nodded and she groaned "uh alright fine, but only because I want to know what caused you to act so odd" she said, before following the path of lights.

Marco didn't pay too much attention to Skylar's words or at least the parts where she was calling him names. Even though the purple-haired girl told him to calm down, indicating that he was nervous or overreacting, Marco didn't feel any kind of panic. He was concerned for his pokemon, but the thought of his live in danger didn't even cross his mind until Skylar pointed out they were without pokemon. If they were attack by any of the wild pokemon in the forest then it would really be troublesome. With Skylar's leg in a cast she wouldn't be all that helpful in that kind of situation. That meant it would be up to him to protect them somehow. Of course seeing how Skylar was so quick to lose her temper at the moment then she could just scare the wild pokemon away with one look. He looked back at her thinking that the plan was very likely to work meaning she was their greatest weapon. Light humorous thoughts aside, his eyes scanned for his pokemon's flame until Skylar pulled out a flashlight.
"Oh...flashlight works too," they were able to find their pokemon as well as a light source which was good because Skylar's flashlight ran out of power. Marco petted his pokemon and hugged them feeling happy to see them, but the pokemon still looked anxious. The black-haired boy looked at the path of light, it would be a shame to go back after coming this far. He overheard the conversation between Skylar and her pokemon Ace; she would follow the path as well which was good. He didn't say anything else and instead let his pokemon lead the way. He wasn't worried about losing them anymore and the pokemon were acting quite calm compared to their behavior earlier. In fact, his pokemon were ominously silent as if they were trying to be in their best behavior in the area.
Everyone was following the path of light now even Skylar was joining them. He was walking ahead, but he was walking kind of slow so that he wouldn't be too far ahead from Skylar. He was still thinking about her leg cast and even though she told him not to worry about her and to leave her alone he just couldn't do it. Maybe that was one of his biggest weaknesses and he wasn't sure if he could change that kind of mindset of wanting to help people; even if he could end up hurt in the process. Charmander looked back at the black-haired boy and noticed his garnet-colored eyes had returned. The boy wasn't freaking out and that was probably because he didn't know his eyes had changed colors. Charmander faced forward again, Marco looked confident at the moment and he didn't want to take that away from him by pointing out his eye color change. Murkrow enjoyed watching the lights mostly because his species enjoyed shiny things, but he seemed to be quite content with returning to the forest.
The path of lights had led the group to shrine entrance that steps going up. Marco stopped and blinked in awed at the sight before him. He was not expecting to see something men-made this deep into the forest. However, this was clearly something that only a human could do and build. "It's shrine, do you think there's someone here?" Marco asked as he walked closer to the entrance, the stairs led up to somewhere that he couldn't see. The pokemon were already moving to climb the stairs. "Wait, are you sure it's safe?" Marco asked his pokemon who looked back at him and nodded. They had no hesitation at all in their faces as if they were sure that this area was a safe place. Marco was hesitant, but if his pokemon were sure about going up these stairs then he would follow them. What about Skylar? What would she do now?
She was with Ace and he was certain that her pokemon would protect. He was also certain that if her pokemon wanted to go up these stairs then she would follow him as well; he hoped for the latter. Marco went up the stairs and it took them a couple of minutes to reach the top. In front of him was none of other than a small Shrine covered in some green moss to show that it had been a while since anyone came to this place. Even though this place was men-made, there was clearly no sign of any person having been here in a long time. "You guys wanted to come here?" Marco asked his pokemon, but they shook their heads. "Char char," the fire lizard moved his hands and body around trying to explain to the boy what they had been trying to do this whole time. "You....were chasing something....and....that something led you here?" Marco guess at this game of charades. Charmander nodded and gave him a thumbs-up to say that he got it right. "But...why here?" Marco looked around, this was all very strange.
