Josh was fuming as he marched along the path. Tatiana hadn’t exactly gotten off without any harm, though the little bug hadn’t done much. There was quite a bit of activity where the festival was going to be put up, but he was in too bad of a mood to actually go check it out.
Tatiana needed to burn some energy, that much was certain. Since Josh didn’t know much about battling, he figured the wild Pokemon would probably be a better option than something trained by a fellow student. That said, he wasn’t too sure how to go about finding them. Back in Hoenn, Pokemon had been kept away from the camp by the Pokemon belonging to the archeologists. And Tatiana had scared off what small curious Pokemon there were to try and befriend.
He didn’t see too much, some sort of weird pink pokemon, but it floated away on the wind before he could even reach for Tatiana’s Pokeball. His next attempt was some sort purple rat like creature, but as soon as Tatiana was out of her Pokeball, she roared and it fled.
After what seemed like way more time and effort than he’d expected, Josh finally managed to corner a mass of vines or tentacles, but as it melded into some shrubs, he lost sight of it.
“This is harder than I would have thought,” Josh commented as he leaned against a small rock. He tossed his bag aside, wiping sweat off his brow. Tatiana didn’t comment, but snorted another big glob of mucus out of her nostril. Luckily, it missed Josh, who was glad that he wasn’t going to have to explain the greenish sticky substance to anyone.
“Sen?”
The voice made Josh jump, A brown pokemon with a big tail was within touching distance of him! He reached for his bag, only it wasn’t where he’d tossed it. The Pokemon had it!
BATTLE POST I - SENTRET CAPTURE ATTEMPT (POST 2/4 - WC 400+)
“Tret!” The Pokemon declared, taking off with the bag. Josh was on his feet in an instant, and Tatiana wasn’t too much farther behind him. He took off running, shouting at the Pokemon, though it honestly wasn’t the best of responses, if he’d stopped to think about it.
“Tatiana!” Josh yelled, “Use Bite!”
The Tyrunt charged forward, letting out a growl. The Sentret jumped up, dropping the bag, but something still clutched in its paws. Tatiana’s attack grazed the tan and brown Pokemon. Josh didn’t think it had connected all that well, but the Sentret definitely took a hit.
Tatiana hunkered down, letting out a growl as she circled the enemy. The transformation in her attitude amazed Josh. Gone was the ill-behaved brat, and in her place was a creature born to fight.
The Sentret responded by curling up, keeping its body as compact as possible, and backing away from the mass of hard scales that was threatening it. The Sentret let out a hiss, only backing away far enough to be able to react to Tatiana’s next advance.
Josh was actually kind of impressed with the smaller Pokemon’s defiance. He almost considered letting the thing go. A flash of red from the paw held to its body dissuaded him of that. The freaking thing had taken his pokeball!
“Tatiana, it can’t get away!” Josh said. The Tyrunt snorted, as if to say that it wasn’t going to let the thing escape anyways, and shook its shoulders, the fur around its neck shaking. A smile crept on Josh’s face, and he slid his bag onto his back. “Tatiana, Bite it again!”
He winced a little, at the sight of the attack connecting. The Sentret held on though, and it didn’t let go of the of the pokeball. How such a small thing was holding on against Tatiana was beyond Josh. Maybe after this he’d ask for some help from someone in the battle club.
Again, the Sentret just compacted its form. It kind of irked Josh that it wasn’t attacking, but he wasn’t sure that it was a bad thing for it not to. Tatiana at least was going full force, and maybe she’d be worn out in time for the festival.
Josh hadn’t considered the festival. What if he wasn’t able to get the pokeball back? Would anyone believe him that a wild pokemon had stolen the pokeball? On that matter, what did it even want with it?
BATTLE POST II - SENTRET CAPTURE ATTEMPT (POST 3/4 - WC 300+)
“Runt!” Tatiana took the scratch from the Sentret without so much as a flinch. The battle had waged on for a bit, with the brown Pokemon enduring the bites from Tatiana by curling up over and over. It seemed like the creature was beginning to shrug off the damage, and Tatiana was beginning to get restless.
Josh pulled his pokegear out of his pocket and flipped through the apps until he got to Tatiana’s summary. He looked over her moves, trying to figure out what exactly each was supposed to do.
Roar seemed like a bad idea. The Sentret already had the pokeball, he didn’t want it to get away with the stolen item. Tail whip might help, but then again, for all Josh could figure out, it might not. It would have been nice if they could have received a crash course in the various aspects of pokemon at the introduction ceremony.
Then again, that might have taken too long.
Josh studied the entry for Bide. It seemed something of a gamble, what if the Sentret ran while Tatiana was storing energy, whatever that meant? Then he’d feel dumb, for sure.
But he wasn’t really making any headway like this. Snapping the device shut, he made his choice.
”Tatiana, Bide!” He ordered. The fossil Pokemon didn’t respond, instead, closing her eyes and letting out what sounded like a heavy sigh. The Sentret took the chance to scratch at Tatiana, who didn’t even acknowledge the attacks. She had a couple scratches that would have to be tended to, but her tough hide was definitely in her favor here.
Josh began to worry as the attacks kept coming. The little brown Pokemon could get really involved when it wanted, and it didn’t seem like Tatiana planned on retaliating. Josh nibbled on his lower lip, plucking at the slightly chapped skin with his teeth. ”Tatiana, please be ok…” He muttered.

CAPTURE ATTEMPT POST - SENTRET CAPTURE ATTEMPT (POST 4/4 - WC 300+) - POKEBALL USED
The tension was so high that Josh could have cut the air with a knife. It seemed like the Sentret just wasn’t going to let up. Part of him hoped that it would drop the pokeball in its eagerness to retaliate against Tatiana, but he also wanted to win against it. He knew Tatiana wouldn’t settle for anything less than a win either.
After the third series of scratches, Josh frowned. Just how long was Tatiana going to sit there. Should he order her to do something? Was she even aware of what was going on, she hadn’t opened her eyes or reacted to the strikes against her, but she had to feel the attacks.
As this went on, it was fairly clear to even Josh’s untrained eye that the Sentret was fighting an uphill battle. Tatiana’s bites had done quite a bit of damage to it, and it hadn’t done nearly the same amount back. Part of its tail was soggy from saliva (thanks to Tatiana) and it was looking rather scuffed up. It still clung to the pokeball though, and Josh had seen it using the curling up technique to reduce the damage it took from Tatiana.
Those scratches left something to be desired though. They just didn’t work against Tatiana’s rough hide the way her bites did in return. Panic about the pokeball aside, Josh had to admit, battling was kind of fun.
Like a whip, and without warning, Tatiana sprung forward in an attack. She slammed the Sentret, knocking it flying. The brown Pokemon hit the ground, hard, and rolled. Something glinted in the morning light, white and red, tumbling through the air. Josh started running for the precious item, when it hit something on the way back down to earth.
The Sentret vanished in a flash of red light, and the button on the pokeball flickered with an orange LED.
Josh sighed, not realizing he had been holding his breath. He'd caught a pokemon! Well, sort of.
Part of him was disappointed, he'd always kind of hoped that his first capture would be something that gave Tatiana a run for her money, but the pokemon was his now. He picked up the pokeball and registered its occupant to his pokedex.
"Sentret, huh?" He mused. Well, he might as well head back and see what everyone else was doing. It was starting to get later in the morning, and he didn't want to miss anything.
"You did great, Tatiana, rest up, okay?" Josh said, returning the fossil Pokemon back to her pokeball. His belt felt odd with two pokeballs on it, ready to use.

Evelyn was completely focused today. She had gotten up earlier then she normally would. She’d had breakfast and was now out in the open fields with Yamask. Today was the day she was going to work with him on a new move. He’d reached the level to know Night Shade but was having some trouble working it. Eve after researching the move figured she could help him perfect it. Since they weren’t in battle class or any class for that matter where moves were required, she figured it was now or never. This would be the stepping stone to greater things for her ghost type friend.
“Okay Yamask, it’s time to work on Night Shade. I mean really work on it.”Evelyn told the ghost type as she adjusted her glasses. Yamask looked at his trainer and gave a small smile and a nod. He could do this… “Now after doing a lot of research it’s kind of like how you do disable. Just think red instead of blue.” She told him.“Ya~”(Okay~) He replied trying to think what she was saying through. It made sense. “So start by trying to focus in and then send that power out.” Evelyn smiled hoping she was onto something.
Yamask tried to focus. He focused on the inside first, willing the strength to make it work before opening his eyes. Staring hard at a Rattata in the distance he tried to project it outward. He eyes started to glow a pinkish red and his body started to glow purple. Suddenly a slight weak wave came off of Yamask’s body. Unfortunately it fizzled out before it could get close to his target. He seemed to have a sad expression after that.“Don’t worry Yamask, just keep trying.”Evelyn told him. True was even if it did get to the Rattata it would have had no effect. It was more like a purple target he could practice on that would be blissfully unaware.

The girl resigned herself towards the open grassland. This was the area that she met Ponyta, plus it might be the best area for everyone to meet each other. Looking around the area, it didn’t seem like there were any other students besides herself. This was a nice change from the Cafeteria. Not that the Cafeteria area was bad but it was normally crowded and probably rather distracting for her Pokemon. Sitting down on the ground, looking at the sky turning orange, it was all quite peaceful. Alana sent out her three Pokemon out on the field so they could enjoy this opportunity. Chespin slid down the human’s back, seating itself right by the girl’s side.
2 Pokeballs bursted open and two figures appeared on the open grassfield by the human’s side. Ponyta blinked its eyes open while Zorua looked at its surrounding in a rushed manner. Zorua appeared a bit panicky as it was unfamiliar with its surrounding. ”I guess I can’t really ask you to relax. This area isn’t anything like the Spooky Mansion, right?” The foxy creature growled at the human girl when she began to speak. Its fur was ruffled and it took a defensive stance against her. Neither Ponyta or Chespin liked the behavior of this new teammate, yet it was Ponyta would could feel more of what this Zorua was feeling. Ponyta was a Pokemon that was caught within these lands. It was only now that it was able to return to the land that it had once called home. The fire horse walked over to the small dark-colored Pokemon. It didn’t tense up as with the human girl. It lowered its guard a bit as Ponyta bent its head to nuzzle the small creature’s head. Zorua did not know what to do with itself, what to do when a random Pokemon decided to give you a comforting nuzzle on the head?
Chespin rolled its eyes while Alana appeared pleased with Ponyta’s actions. ”Does anyone want a small snack? I decided to try my hand at making some Pokefood, though I can’t say if it will be any good.” Ponyta’s ears twitched at the mention of food. The Fire-type’s eyes gleamed happily as it trotted over to the human. Zorua, on the other hand, decided to keep its distance from the two. The Chespin had a vine ready to accept whatever mad experiment the human decided to conduct. Ponyta was poking the human girl eagerly for something to eat.

With the snacks secured, the girl began distributing them based on the Pokemon present. The first one up was Chespin. The way she made this snack was based on a mixture of observation and reading. Her first partner was a grass-type from the region she was born in. Alana had to be sure that her partner would fall in love with her cooking. Thus she spent quite a bit of time conducting experiments with various foods, berries, and ingredients. Thus, one could see a mixture of some vegetation mixed in with the typical Pokefood. Ponyta was a Fire-type creature. Alana had already seen that this particular Pokemon wasn’t all that picky with food. It seemed to go towards anyone who had some. Even if it wasn’t picky the child still wanted to cater to its diet. Since Ponyta was caught from the grassland she thought about its diet. It had probably consumed grass than coal but not on the same level as a Chespin. With Ponyta’s bunch, the girl did her best to mix it with ingredients found in the grassland mixed with some foods that a Fire-type would like. The trickiest of them all was a Zorua. Alana hardly had time to do any research on the Zorua. The only info she was aware of was where this Pokemon had been living along with its type. Zorua was a Dark-type and that meant it probably prefered food that were common in dark areas. That one was a tough one for the girl since she didn’t know much of anything that grew in such places. Going back to the Spooky mansion was out of the question as there was no need to relive such memories. So the best thing she could do was make something closely related to Ponyta’s dish except with a flavoring that a Dark-type would like.
Chespin and Ponyta both digged right into their meal. Zorua, on the other hand, just stared at it. It was quite similar as to how it just stared at the food during breakfast. It would nibble on the food slowly but it didn’t look like it was enjoying itself. ”Zorua, this might be asking a bit much but would you happen to know where you can find the kinds of food you like?” The fluffy fox Pokemon just took a long glance at the human. Its face was quite neutral as it looked at the girl and then to the food. The other two had already finished consuming their snack with Ponyta eyeing the Zorua’s hardly touched snack. The Zorua motioned the Ponyta to come by it's side, specifically at the food. The horse’s eyes gleamed as it nuzzled on the snack. The human didn’t feel like she should stop her Ponyta considering it didn’t look like the new member wanted to eat its snack. ’I guess I may need to read up on the types of food Zorua likes.’ The girl began to think more on the subject while the fire horse consumed the snack with a lively appetite.
Zorua looked off into the distance. Some trees could be seen from where it was lying on the grass. With trees came the shadows and with the shadows…. The new member bolted off without so much of a warning. The girl was stunned at the suddenness of this. Even the other two members were a bit taken aback at the sudden change in the Zorua’s behavior. After a few seconds of just watching the Pokemon take off into the distance it became obvious that they would have to follow. Alana and the rest took off towards the small fox, unaware of its true intentions. [Exit to Forest]

Tera was feeling rather groggy this morning, not too surprising since she wasn't feeling all too well yesterday evening. When her last class of the day was over, the lethargic student had gotten out of her seat after most of the students had already gone. She was far too out of it to notice anything or anyone around her, but she did remember that the replacement teacher had given them homework involving the PokeGear's camera. The girl didn't really get why they had to take pictures if the Pokedex part of it already had pictures available, but she wouldn't openly question the teacher. As soon as she got to the Charizard dorm, Tera quickly hit the hay but not before setting her alarm. She had to get up earlier than usual if she wanted to get any henway done with this science and technology homework.
And so, the next day, she was now in the open grasslands to scan more Pokemon and attempt to take pictures of them. She didn't know how the camera application worked, but at least she had a steady hand and that was a good enough start for her! The area looked a lot different compared to when she last came in the evening or maybe it was just her. It certainly looked a heck of a lot easier to spot Pokemon though! The Pokemon present were different from those she encountered the last time too. Not too long after starting her search for wildlife did the girl encounter a group of Pokemon playing nearby. Tera recognized the zigzagoon species, but was unfamiliar with the other two. Taking aim towards the trio, the girl steadied her hand to scan them first, making sure that the Pokedex's volume was at its lowest pressing starting the scan.
'Sentret, the Scout Pokémon. Sentret is able to see great distances by rising up on its tail. When it spots an enemy or any kind of danger, it emits a loud, shrill cry as a warning.'
'Rattata, the mouse Pokemon. It likes cheese, nuts, fruits, and berries. It also comes out into open fields to steal food from stupid travelers.'
'Zigzagoon, the TinyRaccoon Pokémon. Zigzagoon is extremely curious and so ends up walking in a zigzag path between things that interest it.'
'Ohh! I better be quiet with this bunch then!~' The girl thought after hearing the Pokemon's entries. She didn't have to worry about Flare and Hoppu since they were naturally the silent type. When the scans were completed, Tera clumsily tried to change the Pokedex app to the camera app, but wound up pressing a bunch of noisy buttons which alerted the Pokemon. Too confused and afraid to find out who or what was making such unnatural sounds, it didn't take long for the Pokemon to flee the scene. Why didn't she test this beforehand!? Well it was too late now, so all she could do was press on, but not before getting an idea of how to properly or at the very least quietly transition from the Pokedex to the camera application. She was happy and relieved that she was able to get a few scans in before the fact.
Even after a long time of testing with her Pokemon as models, Tera still wasn't very confident on her ability to handle the camera's basics, though she was able to learn how to change the apps fast enough. Why was technology so hard for her!? Looking at the time, she started to search a little faster; there was very little time left until her physical education class was going to start. It was a good thing that she had changed into her gym clothes before coming here! Sure, she would be a little dirty, but she figured she was better off dirty than late! Peering through the bushes, the vigilant girl quietly observed an interesting Pokemon covered in thick blue vines with boot-like feet who was accompanied by a pink colored Pokemon with long green leaves popping out the top of its head, Naturally, Tera had no clue what species these Pokemon were, but what better time to learn than now! With her PokeGear in hand the girl took aim at the soon to be known species.
'Tangela, a Vine Pokémon. Its body is wrapped in vines. The rest of its form is hidden beneath these vines.'
'Hoppip, the Cottonweed Pokémon. This hopping Pokémon is light as a feather, and can be lifted by the gentlest breeze.'
Tera observed the two wild Pokemon as they interacted with each other, wondering how these two had met. It certainly was an interesting visual to see them together, but what did she know? She had just discovered these two species and for all she knew it was common place for them to be together. They seemed to be on good terms anyway. Not wanting to waste anymore time, Tera took her PokeGear and carefully changed the application to the camera. She remembered that Mr. Reyes wanted the class to take pictures of the Pokemon in their natural state so she had to be really stealthy for them not to notice her. A few clicks of the shutter later and she had quite a few pictures in memory card, at least that's what she figured by the number in the corner increasing after every click. When she thought she had enough pictures, the girl bolted towards the exit after looking at the time.
Before she left the open grasslands, the now running Charizard house girl took a few quick shots, while running for the exit, of a small flock of Mareep making their way to an open sunny patch of fresh grass. She wanted to stay and observe them, but class was starting soon! Little did she know that all the pictures she had taken were out of focus and even a few of them were covered by her! She wouldn't find out until much later. Not too surprising considering she didn't know how to check the photos she had taken...

Ray didn't know how he had somehow managed to get to the open grasslands without falling over. It had been a rough couple of days, and he had not attended his classes for good reason. It wasn't like he wanted to go anyways, he just wanted to be alone. He didn't want to see or talk to anyone, he had already had to see the doctor, considering his injuries. His one good eye slowly moved down towards his arm and then his ankle. It seemed like it had just happened yesterday. He had been running from Krisi, hearing what she said to him hurt. It hurt him so badly, the wounds in his heart he thought were healing were ripped open again. This time they were bleeding uncontrollably. The people he thought he could trust, the people who insisted that he wasn't at fault, that he was a good person were all lies. How could they lie to him, how could they lead him on like that? Everything was made clear by Krisi, he was a monster, he was responsible, he was the one who should be dead. Ray agreed whole-heartedly, he should have been the one who died not Rina. All the guilt he felt, all the pain came crashing down in that one moment. Any progress he had made on believing that he wasn't at fault went down the drain, after all Krisi knew him better than everyone else. She had been his friend for the longest, so when her true opinion was said it washed away any kind words the others had been telling him.
He stared at the ground, his eyes lifelessly. what was the point of even being here, he should just go home. Not that his parents would want him, they probably blamed him too. Ray would, who'd want a monster as a son anyways? Ray's arm throbbed painfully, but he ignored it. His thoughts drifted back towards the day he ran into his roommate. The one time he didn't want to see anyone, his roommate happens to stumble in on him. They hadn't really seen or talked to one another at all for all these weeks. Get remembered the shard of glass in his hands, then the door being opened. He was spooked at the time, and just ran off. He was afraid, he was jumpy. and he just didn't know how he was supposed to react either. He was a mess. It didn't help that he wasn't paying attention either, so when he fell his heart practically stopped. All he really remembered was falling downwards, there was a sharp drop in the ground and he hadn't noticed the little cliff there. It wasn't high enough to kill him, but he had been injured greatly. Part of him wished he had died there, that it would all end. However, the world had the cruel idea that he needed to suffer more so he was kept alive. If his roommate hadn't found him he'd probably be dead. Not that it would have mattered. His good hand moved upwards towards his left eye, as he placed it gently against the eye-patch that was located there. He had injured to top part of his eye, and needed to cover it until it healed completely. His right arm was bandaged completely, a sling holding the fractured arm in place against his chest. As for his sprained ankle, it was wrapped as well and was in a small boot of sorts to keep it in place. Scraps and bruises covered his skin in many places, and over all he was just a complete mess.
The nurse made him take some medication for the pain, but he quite liked it. It reminded him of his mistake, as well as the betrayal he felt. His friends were liars, he didn't want to see any of them. He continued to stare at the ground, ignoring Rey. The poor bird pokemon had been neglected ever since the run in with Krisi. Ray still fed that bird pokemon, but there was no love or conversations between the two anymore. Krisi's words made sure of that. Rey was annoyed that his partner was ignoring him. No matter what he did Ray would just dismiss it. It did hurt, and Rey cried many nights because of it. However, the bird pokemon knew it wasn't the boys fault, if anyone was to blame it was Krisi. Rey didn't like her at the moment, and if she even thought of getting near Rey again he'd peck her! Rey just watched Ray, miserable he couldn't do anything to help him. Rey never stopped showing his affection, he never stopped following Ray either. Rina may have been his original partner, but Rey could believe with confidence that Ray was his partner now. Rey had no regret, and Rey loved Ray just as much as Rina. The two of them were both his trainers, whether or not Ray realized that. Rey cried softly, nuzzling against Rey's good leg. Ray on the other hand didn't do anything, he just stared down at the ground... completely and utterly broken.

Ava walked around the Open Grasslands with her two bugs on her back. It was early for a Saturday, but Ava had some work she had been putting off. How in the world she was going to scan every pokemon here was something she had no clue about. How many even were there? Ava noticed a couple of grey pokemon close to the ground in the fields and quietly made her way over to them. Her pokedex told her that they were some Zigzagoon, known for running around in a zigzag fashion. Scanning them was easy, however. The harder part was getting a good photo. Ava slowly moved in, but as she neared, she accidentally snapped a stick under her foot! Frightened, the pokemon began to zoom off. "Shoot! No!" Ava quickly snapped yet another blurry photo as the pokemon darted off towards the trees. She tried to chase after them, but couldn't keep up, leaving her to sigh as she looked at the treeline.
"Ugh... This is impossible!"she bemoaned to her pokemon. Pokemon were easier to photograph when they were caught. They'd sit still (for the most part) and not try to run away from you. Wild pokemon, however, didn't care about your grade. It was awful! Ava found a weird looking pokemon along the treeline. As she approached it, it didn't seem to move much. Ava scanned it."Sunkern..." she said, skimming the little blurb about it. "Tries to move as little as it possibly can? Perfect!"Ava kneeled down and snapped a photo of it. Arguably, it was the one best photo she's gotten since she started this assignment. She managed to get two more, but how many more were there?
