Marco Guerrero Katsuragi
I am learning to be strong

Location: Grassland - Unknown Path

Both students were concerned about their pokemon and the strange behavior they were showing. The surprise seemed to strike Skylar harder and Marco could hear the concern from her tone of voice. Her pokemon's reaction really took her by surprise, but at the same time Marco just couldn't help, but point out the irony. She had been constantly questioning his skills as a trainer because his pokemon would act out sometimes. Now here they were chasing not just his pokemon, but hers as well. Marco didn't actually voice that opinion and instead kept it to himself especially since Skylar was already going through enough. Having to run with a cast could not be easy, but seeing how determined she was to go after Ace, her Noibat, made him see that she cared about her pokemon greatly. Seeing as he had interrupted her time with her pokemon made him feel bad since she obviously treasured those moments. In fact, one could say that his arrival had caused her pokemon to become involved in his own pokemon's strange behavior.

"Sorry..." Marco apologized to Skylar even though she'd likely just lash back at him for not knowing why he was apologizing he just needed to say it. They had now exited the forest and entered an open grassy field which made it easier to see their own pokemon. Marco had nearly tripped when he heard Skylar used a curse word. Sorry!" Marco shouted surprised by the strong word she used. He had only ever heard his father say that word as well as other adults, but he didn't dare repeat it; his mother would surely wash his mouth with soap if he did. He listened to the rest of her words about them being together only until they got a hold of their pokemon. She definitely wanted to keep this interaction as short as possible and with everything he had caused he couldn't blame her. "I understand," Marco replied, "but I just want you to know that...I get it. You have your reasons for wanting to be alone." She was his classmate after all and they were in the same student group, Class A. He watched her from time to time and noticed that she never really interacted with people more than she had to like for an assignment or something similar.

She didn't seek out other people and even the students that were brave enough to try and have a conversation with her (like Koru) were kept short. He was facing forward also making sure to keep an eye on his pokemon so they would not lose sight of them. "I'm not going to pretend like I know about you, but I understand the feeling of wanting to protect yourself," Marco looked back at her since he was still a bit ahead of her, "so I get it. I'll respect your decision." The black-haired boy didn't realize it, but his eyes had changed colors once more. He faced forward again continuing to follow the pokemon across this grassy field. It seemed like they would soon exit the field and return to a wooden area. Marco was worried about his pokemon, but he couldn't help and be curious as well. They were doing all this running and it felt like they were being led to a certain location. In a way this was kind of excited almost adventurous, just what was waiting for them at the end of this chase?

The creature moved through the grass terrain with great ease. The grass helped to camouflage it from anyone's eyes. At this point the pokemon were simply relying on their instinct to chase after the creature. The creature looked back at them for a brief moment then continued on its way as it headed to the next and final area.

▪Mood: Irritated II ▫House: Salamence
▪Where: Battle Class II ▫With Who: Noibat (Ace), Students II ▪Word Count:

It was then that Marco and Skylar seemed to enter a grassland of sorts. The forest vanished behind then, and Skylar did wonder what exactly was going on. She hoped that the boy next to her didn’t catch on to the rather urgent ad concerned sound mixed into her voice. She hadn’t meant to seem so frantic, but the bottom line was that she was frantic. She wasn’t as calm and collected as others would have liked to think, and she definitely wasn’t one to just not let her emotions be noticed. She was young, not even a teenager yet and no matter how hard she might want to conceal herself from others, she was still learning how to do that, and once she did she’d never let something like this happen again. At least she hoped not. She was just hoping the boy wouldn’t jump at the chance to ridicule her. After all she had bashed Marco about controlling his pokemon, and her she was running after her pokemon that she couldn’t control. It was ironic, and she had wondered if this was karma coming back at her for earlier. She shook her head, screw karma, she didn’t believe in that crap. After all, it wasn’t Ace’s fault. Whatever they were following had to be a big deal right? She had heard rumors of pokemon acting up in the forest lately after classes were over. Something about how there pokemon were calm one minute, and then running to god knows were the next. Wasn’t that happening to them right now with their pokemon? She pursed her lips she could say something to Marco since it might help bring light to the situation. However, she didn’t feel like she needed to tell him anything. Besides if she did he’d just stick around her longer. At this point she just wanted to forget this whole incident as soon as possible.

It was then that Marco apologized out of nowhere, and she blinked rather surprised. Her surprise was quickly silenced though, as she gained her composure back. Why the hell was he apologizing? It annoyed her that he’d just say sorry like that it honestly didn’t make her think he was sorry at all. If all he said was sorry, then how could she actually believe that he truly was sorry? She knew better than anyone when someone was just saying sorry, but didn’t mean it. Now she wasn’t sure if he was the same as those she’s encountered before. It was then that he tripped when she cursed, and apologized again. Yup, he definitely acted like the type that spews out sorry whenever they wanted to suck up to the other person and make sure that they thought they actually cared. It made her sick “shut up, don’t apologize you wuss! If you apologize all the flipping time how the hell can someone actually believe you’re genuinely sorry if you spout it out loud all the time, it’s annoying!” she said, grumbling. He hadn’t meant to express her concern and annoyance out loud. However, what was done was done and if he wanted to whine about it she’d just ignore him.

It was then that he stated that he understood, and that he wasn’t going to pretend that he knew her and that he understood her feeling of wanting to protect herself. Her eyes narrowed, growing colder “You don’t know me and you don’t get it, no one will ever understand, and quite frankly I don’t want or need you to understand so make sure to remember that” she said, her eyes moving from his back to where there pokemon were going. She didn’t need his pity, and she certainly knew he had another motive for trying to get to know her. Everyone always did. Did he honestly think she’d just melt and spew all her worries, concerns, goals, wishes, and past? If he did than he was a fool. It was then that he stated that he’d respect her decision, and she remained silent. Whatever, he could think what he wanted to after all it had nothing to do with her. She had just noticed how his eyes changed, and she kept her eyes forward. It was weird that his eyes did that, but it wasn’t like she cared much. Sure when she first saw then in the garden she had been alarmed and surprised. Now though, she didn’t care much. She did notice that he seemed afraid when she had noticed his eyes, so from her perspective it was obvious that he had a complex about it. She remained silent, worst case scenario she could just tell him once this was all over in order to drive him away. Plus, it was probably better he didn’t know after all he’d probably whine about it or something annoying like that. The thought made her shiver, no way she was dealing with this crybaby more than she already had to.

Where ever this thing was taking them and their pokemon, it certainly knew it’s way around. It seemed that they were making there way over towards another woody area. It was like they were going through a maze following whatever this thing was.

Chael didn't know why he found himself in what he assumed was the school field, but he did. Nysa charged on ahead to explore and to exercise, which left the boy alone with his thoughts. There were new Pokemon scattered about, some he recognized while he didn't seem to recognize others. The thing running in a zigzag seemed weird and the Rattata past it was easily seen with its purple coat. The boy could never imagine himself using a Pokemon like that, though he had heard of a person using a weird strategy called Fear. Whatever.

He sat down and enjoyed the sun beaming down on him. Chael never saw the reason for why people clumped together so- they couldn't be relied upon for anything. So he never even bothered, though he was always left confused when people looked down on his lack of a need for friends. Understanding was one thing, but he wouldn't ever stand for pity. The boy sat next to a Hoppip who seemed content to stay there and photosynthesize forever and a half.

Eventually Chael would need to seek out a professor to help train Nysa. While he had lost a battle, if he somehow made Nysa perform admirably in his contest class, that would be a sight to see.

Chael took a picture of the Rattata sitting with him but eventually it had to leave for the sake of finding shelter from predators for the night. It was then that he knew that it was time to leave, letting out a whistle to call back Nysa who had been running around. He'd probably hit the books in the library now to look up facts about moves that Pinsirs could learn. Like, there were DVD instructionals for them to learn how to use new moves called TMs. They were a fan favorite of the badge collectors who passed by Goldenrod City's massive shopping center.

He walked out with his starter in tow. There wasn't a need for words really, the boy found them a requirement for dealing with people and that was it really. Chael believed that if you got along with a Pokemon enough, they just connected with you. It sounded dumb, but he took some stock in it. Maybe there'd be a real way to show it, but that wouldn't be for a long time he figured.

Tristan hadn't done much with his day off from classes. He got up, went to breakfast and wandered around the campus, mostly to get a feel for the place in full so he wouldn't get lost anymore. He didn't want to be late anymore, if he could help it. Walking into class late usually caused the other students to look at you, and that wasn't something he wanted. He would rather get in, learn what he wanted to learn, and get out. Regardless, he wouldn't have to worry about it until tomorrow.

His wanderings led him to the open grasslands outside of the campus. Tristan was walking along, his hands in his pockets, enjoying the peace and quiet. As he made his way to the heart of the grasslands, he took a moment to look around him. There were Pokemon everywhere, it seemed. Nidorans were running back and forth, Bunearys were hopping about, Electrike were snoozing. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a Pokemon he didn't recognize. It was a giraffe sort of creature, with a long neck and spots. It turned away from him, but didn't lose sight of him, because it's tail had a head as well, and it was watching him.

"Hmm..." Tristan pondered. Taking out his Pokedex, he opened it and pointed it towards the strange Pokemon. The device identified it as Girafarig, a Normal and Psychic type. He thought it was beautiful, and it looked rather powerful. Taking out his Pokeball, he crept towards it. "Turtwig, go," he said, tossing the ball and releasing his partner. Turtwig shook his head, the leaf on top rustling in the breeze. The Girafarig turned to face Tristan and Turtwig, it's eyes round and loving. It appeared as if it didn't want to fight, but he had to. He had to catch this Pokemon.

The breeze blew through Tristan's hair and along the grassland, causing both of them to follow the air currents and sway. The Girafarig didn't appear to want to fight, but looked as if it knew that it had to defend itself. The creature's once gentle gaze turned to a serious stare as it stomped it's hooves on the grassy plain. It began with a Tackle attack, charging at Turtwig while it waved it's neck around furiously. Turtwig moved to dodge, but wasn't quick enough. Girafarig was much faster than it, at least double it's speed. Of course, he was a turtle Pokemon, so it was to be expected. "Turtwig, start off with Stockpile. This is going to be a long fight," Tristan commanded. Turtwig nodded, clenching it's eyes shut as it began to glow green, storing energy in it's shell and raising both of it's Defense stats.

Girafarig made another charge at Turtwig with Tackle, hitting it full on and knocking it back. Turtwig didn't seem as bothered by it this time, with it's Defense raised. "Once again, use Stockpile," Tristan said, putting together some sort of a plan of attack. Turtwig repeated the move, raising his Defense stats once again. Girafarig seemed to be getting tired of the same old attacks, turning around and using Astonish with the head of it's tail. Turtwig jumped, startled by the frightening tail, flinching so he couldn't move. The Girafarig ran at him with another Tackle, knocking him back, but Turtwig didn't seem to be hurt hardly at all. Thankfully, Stockpile was doing it's job. "Turtwig, let's get on the offensive and go for Tackle this time," Tristan said. Turtwig got up and shook himself off, then charged at the Girafarig, making use of the grassy surroundings to hide his point of attack. He rammed into the Pokemon, knocking it forward and onto it's knees. It got back up quickly, though. This was definitely not going to be an easy fight.

With Turtwig up two stages on both his Defense and Special Defense stats by this point in the battle, there wasn't much the Girafarig could do to hurt him. However, Tristan knew his little Turtwig couldn't last forever out there without a healing move, which his Pokemon didn't have yet. They had to get Girafarig's health down just enough to catch it and get Turtwig out of there, otherwise they would be in a lot of trouble. Girafarig used Growl this turn, making a call that told Turtwig to stay away. This didn't keep him away, though. Turtwig charged with another Tackle attack, headbutting into the other Pokemon and easily knocking it back.

Girafarig used Confusion this time, clearly done playing around with them. It's eyes glowed blue, and so did Turtwig. He looked confused as to what was happening as he slowly began to float into the air. "Hang in there, Turtwig!" Tristan called out, his voice cracking with worry for his Pokemon. This looked like a powerful attack! Girafarig raised it's neck, and Turtwig, then quickly brought it down, slamming Turtwig into the ground. Dust rose up around the Grass type, but it was still standing. He was tougher than he looked! "One more tackle should do it, Turtwig! Go for it!" Tristan called out, his heart beating quickly with the excitement of his battle. Turtwig took off running, charging towards the Girafarig who seemed to be a bit tired from the previous Confusion attack. He rammed into it, sending it flying backwards and crying out as it hit the ground. More dust rose from the dry grassy plain from Girafarig's impact. When the dust cleared, the wild Pokemon was laying on the ground, not fainted, but clearly too tired to fight anymore. Had they finally done it?

Turtwig remained in his fighting stance, just in case the Girafarig had any ideas of getting back up and continuing the battle. However, in Tristan's eyes, it had given up. It knew when it had been beat. The Stockpile strategy had really paid off in the end. It was over yet, though. Taking out his only spare Pokeball, Tristan gave it a good toss towards the Girafarig, the ball hitting it on the back and opening. It turned the Pokemon into red light and sucked it inside the ball, which then closed and landed on the ground. It shook once, then a second time, then a third time, before finally clicking, sealed shut. Tristan walked over to it and calmly picked it up, looking it over. They had won the battle and captured their first Pokemon. "Excellent work, Turtwig. You did a really good job," he said, looking down at his partner, who gleamed up at him with pride. Turtwig puffed out his chest, his eyes glowing. He had done well, hadn't he? Tristan took out his other Pokeball and returned Turtwig to it. He deserved a long rest after that fight, and so did his newest Pokemon. Turning back towards the way he had came, Tristan headed for the Nurse's Office to get his Pokemon healed up before the sun set. Then they could all have dinner together.

OOC:okay, your post is the start of battle since Cyndaquil has timid nature. owo

The afternoon phase of the day was slowly approaching to an end, but that did nothing to deter the pig-tailed girl from running across the field of grass towards the center. Holding firmly onto her neck from behind was her trusty partner, Fong the Mienfoo who was enjoying the feeling of wind caressing her face as the duo headed over to their position as challengers. With no hesitation in her movement, Xiatain turned around after coming to a stop meaning that she and the others had reached their destination. As she watched the figure of her friends quickly coming towards her, she stopped them with a command. “Fong, stop their movement!” Complying her trainer’s wish, the fighting type jumped over the other’s head, landed on the grass and rushed forward in swift and graceful movement to the two students. She gave them little-to-no time to react as she went punching the ground right before them, creating small hole/fissure with small portion of earth—soils and grasses—flying outwardly into the air. Watching her friends’ reaction with a smile, Xiatian stated, “Koru, wait there. You are not allowed on my side.” She then proceeded to pull her pokegear and scanned the stats of the Cyndaquil, updating her pokedex.

“Waa! Koru’s partner is amazing! But I won’t give up!” She probably looked crazy in the eyes of others as she talked loudly to herself. But that didn’t bother her at all. She then stared straight at Koru—specifically at her eyes—and then stated, “As the rules of the Pokemon League stated, when two Trainers make eye contact, they must have a battle.” Her whole body took on a stance against her opponent who probably was still confused to what was happening—or maybe she had understood but was just pretending that she did not? Either way, Xiatian continued, “I, Li Xiatain, challenge you into a battle! Accept or not?” And the time had finally arrived for the fateful battle to begin. “And that’s my surprise!” Yea….obviously. Was it necessary to add that at the end?

Koru didn't realize how far Xia was taking them across campus. She eventually stopped hold Eve's hand while they ran and Cyndaquil moved to the top of her head to get a better view. The afternoon seemed to be going deeper into the evening. Whatever Xia was planning night might creep up on it, but Koru really wanted to see this. After all the weight on her mind, the tears, the realizations in the past few days- Koru just wanted to have fun with a friend. Koru was beginning to feel a little tired of running this whole way and finally called out to Xia,"Xia where are we going-!,”She stopped as Fong came running at them and she wasn't at all prepared for when he punched the ground before her,"Ah! Xia what's going on?! What did ya do that for?" She almost fell but she stepped her foot back to brace herself and recover. She swung her arms to regain balance and clenched both hands into fists. Just what the heck was going on with her?! What does she mean by her side? She became a little more confused when she pulled out her pokegear, was she scanning Cyndaquil? Koru's stance relaxed a little bit in this state of confusion but she still kept herself ready, Xia was honestly looking a little bit crazy. Then the girl glared at her with an intense stare. Koru's eyes widened and she went stiff. Xia then began speaking off the rules of the Pokemon League and how when the eyes of trainers meet a battle must take place-a battle-a battle?!”Xia you don't mean-" she was in too much shock to say anything fully before Xia stated an official challenge of battle to her. Koru's eyes were still wide, she felt a shock run through her. She never thought that something like this would be happening so soon. Something she had always dreamed of happening was beginning...was she ready for it? She gulped running all through her mind, but it seemed all the thinking stopped when she stared back at Xia, she was standing confident and ready for this. Koru clenched her fist and she took a sharp breath and smiled at her friend, a fire raising in her golden eyes,"Well I, Koru Frene, accept your challenge!" She picked Cyndaquil up from her head and placed him on the ground. She knelt down with and asked,”Are you ready buddy? I know I have Fletchling now too...but I want my first battle to be with you, as our first step. What do ya say?" Cyndaquil was beginning to shake and trying not to stare and look at Fong, a pokemon that was clearly battle ready, but Koru was looking at him like she used to, so hopeful. He turned his back to her and nodded. Her face flushed red like she was about to cry and stood back again,”Okay let's do this!" Cyndaquil flared up his flame on his back and braced himself. Koru wasn't sure how well he would do against Fong, she just watched it punch the ground, so for now she might try to play it safe,”Okay Cyndaquil use smokescreen!" Cyndaquil took in a breath and a black smog was released from his mouth,”Quil!" he squealed as the smoke filled the air. The smoke surrounded the area Koru swung her arm around,"Okay Cyndaquil time to swerve around!"Cyndaquil didn't want to stay in one place for too long with that pokemon as an opponent so he followed her command and started to run in random directionsKoru couldn't really see well from the smoke but that at least meant that neither could Xia or Fong. She cupped her hands together and called out,”Cyndaquil find Fong and use tackle!" His flame spurted for a moment at the command, attack that pokemon really?! In his frantic hesitation he saw the yellow of Fong's arm and stopped, his legs shaking. He shook his head and ran forward, clashing with the weasle pokemon in a tackle attack. Cyndaquil didn't exactly know how to land and rolled onto the ground and he struggled to stand panickly looked around wandering what to do now.

Ramona stretched her arms out and gazed up at the sky. It was such a nice day to get out and do some more photo work. Yesterday and part of today she spent working on the development of those other photos she had taken from the garden. While it usually would’ve been a lot quicker to finish them she decided to make a few copies of certain ones for the girls. Downside was that she had spent the entire day in her dark room. Luckily Her pokemon were around to make sure she had things like food-the important stuff. Next thing she knew it was morning of the present day. She couldn't believe she stayed so cooped up, so many things she might've missed. She even got a call that she would be advising a club. While that was exciting she was still distraught by her behavior. She cleaned herself up and got out of the dorm for the entire day. She wandered into the woods to take more pictures, but ended up just relaxing with a stroll. She ended up at a open field she had actually not been to very much. The breeze and open space was very comforting. Now she was still there watching the sky fade into the afternoon sun.She took a deep breath and sighed happily, ”Oh how nice! So much better than being indoors!” She commented enthusiastically. She saw then heard something in the grass. She turned around to see if it was pokemon but instead it was three girls, one running ahead of the other two. She recognized Evelyn Chambers and Koru Frene, but the one with pig tails was unfamiliar to her,"Wonder wha they're up to?” She steadily began to approach but was shocked and swung her camera up when the Meinfoo punched the ground at Koru. Was this girl challenging her to a fight? If so it was her job to stop it, but then she heard her, now hearing her name Xiantian Li, challenging her to a pokemon battle. Ramona's eyes glittered with excitement. She took a few shots of the confident Xia and then waited for Koru to react as well. When she did the response was just as magnificent,"How exciting! Two friends challenging each other! I gotta get a closer look!” She immediately strolled over through the grass and waved to the girls, stopping a few feet from either of them,"Hello there girls! If it's alright I want to take pictures of your battle! Just think of me as a ref with a camera hehe.” She took a few more steps backward and held her camera up,"Okay you can begin just pretend I don't have this!” She pointed out, and almost immediately Cyndaquil was making the first move with burst of flame from his back, quite a shot of emotion, and Xiantian's Mienfoo seemed pretty fierce itself. Needless to say but this could be a photofinish!

OOC:1st battle post. Sorry for triple quoting. Needing to make some change sweatdrop

Fong was not impressed. Honestly she felt like she was being pitted against a pup whose backbone hadn’t been grown yet. The fire-type was shaking when the Koru girl placed him down on the ground and talked him into battling. She didn’t think her opponent would prove himself to be a challenge at all to her but she couldn’t back out now. The Xia girl, her trainer, had given out a challenge and the other trainer had accepted it; both of them looked excited and determined to come out as a winner, but there could only be one true winner out of this battle. Making up her mind, Fong performed several backflips backward to the center of their temporary battle arena, giving her opponent plenty of room. The echidna-like pokemon seemed to make up his mind as well; he turned his back to his trainer and started to walk forward. Both pokemon now faced each other: one wearing a fierce glare and the other looking as if he wanted to be anywhere but here. Fong’s eyes narrowed. That look on his face wouldn’t make her go easy on him.

Xiatian was truly surprised by the sudden appearance of a pink-haired adult who reminded her of the female teacher in the academy. Well, of course! The person was that teacher. There was no way that a stranger would be on the island. All the excitement building up from the cafeteria to the grassland made her momentarily overlook a few things in her surroundings. She blinked a couple of time, processing the words spoken by the adult before smiling brightly. “Okay!” A referee, she said! With her being here, it made things feel much more like official battle in the league! How cool! Fong didn’t share in the excitement though as she was giving her full attention to the fire type.

And finally the battle begins! Surprisingly it was the red team (Koru and Cyndaquil) who made the first move as the fire type released a black smog from his mouth into the air. In reflex, Fong went to defense, crossing both arms into an X when something was released out of his mouth. She didn’t expect it to be black smoke but quickly regained her calm composure when feeling no pain on her. She had coughed a few times but that was all the smoke did aside blocking her view of opponent. Soon she heard two voices within the darkness: one belonged to the Koru girl and the other being her own trainer. “Fong, don’t breathe in the smoke!” Well, she wasn’t now; her breathing had stabled. “Close your eyes and use Detect!” Really? Right at the beginning? Putting some trust in the human girl’s judgment, Fong complied with her command. She closed her eyes and waited. Her hearing sharpened considerably from her sight being offlined as most focus was poured to only one sense. It took a moment but she could hear it now—the running of four-legged pokemon. And it was heading to her from behind! Immediately Fong rolled to one side and let the fire type run past her by. Or did he trip over his own feet and face-crashed the ground? Well that wouldn't be so surprising at all. She wasn’t sure what happened to him but one thing she knew for sure was that his attack missed her. Now it was her turn. “Fong, use Meditate!” Black smoke was still heavily covering the area while Fong’s body slowly yet gradually covered in soft white light like aura.

Raised Attack by one stage!
