In the forest where Joshua hiked Simon sat against a tree as Shroomish walked around looking for anything to battle. As Simon withdrew the Dowsing Machine from his pack Shroomish found another Sandshrew to battle. Turning it on Simon hoped that it would alert him to any hidden items. Calling Shroomish over after Sandshrew fainted Simon scratched her head while spraying her with a potion. "Keep this up and you'll be a Breloom soon enough, then I'll train up Aron. The three hundred level Pokemon will be here just in case but I'm going to switch from using them to using you, Aron and Kirlia," Simon explained and Shroomish bounced happily understanding.

There was a beeping alert from the dowsing machine let Simon know there was something nearby. Brushing aside some moss he was happy to see a choice band. Sending out Aron he removed the Eviolite, replacing it with the Choice Band, maybe one day he'd replace this item with Aron's Mega Stone but for now this was fine. Returning him he looked up to see Shroomish battling another Sandshrew. The life orb still took health from Shroomish however it seemed like she was used to it as it wasn't a lot of health, the extra boost of damage though was great. Once it was defeated she came over to where he was sitting to let him heal her up again.

Standing up from the tree where he was sitting Simon looked out upon the pathway. Calling Shroomish to follow him he paused as another Sandshrew who seemed to be part of a horde that was hiding nearby waiting to try to take on Shroomish one after another. Tapping the jar Simon wondered why only one ground Pokemon appeared to battle, maybe it was just in this area so after Shroomish won he healed her up and they continued down the path to where a large tree loomed in the middle. Walking up to it Simon felt like a little kid again wanting to climb up, scooping up Shroomish he did just that and the pair rested on a thick branch watching the forest below.

Stretching out on the branch Simon considered just staying up here and taking a nap. Maybe he could climb higher and find an area where more branches and leaves could support him for a nap. Then he noticed the ground was moving. Picking up Shroomish again he jumped down as a Diglett popped out of the ground. It was a different ground Pokemon who had come thanks to the incense smoke. Scanning it with the Pokedex he learned that Diglett,"Lives about one yard underground where it feeds on plant roots. It sometimes appears aboveground" like now. Shroomish was happy for a new opponent and zapped health from Diglett, defeating it.

When another Diglett appeared Simon switched out Shroomish for Kirlia since the later was close to evolving as well. As the more confident Pokemon that she had been as a Ralts Kirlia was ready to battle. When the Diglett popped out of the ground she unleashed a powerful psychic blast. If it wasn't for the Pokemon retrieval service they wouldn't even be able to tell if the Diglett was defeated or not. Since it had Simon called Kirlia back, she moved pass him then jumped high into the air using the psychic energy to land on a branch. Simon chuckled and climbed up after her. Settling in he hung his pack on a short branch so that the smoke from the jar still floated out for wild Pokemon to smell. Stretching a little Simon realized he could rest up here and Kirlia could float down to fight then come back up. Releasing Dusknoir from his Pokeball he asked his friend to watch Kirlia train while he rested. Dusknoir was happy to help and remained as a purple orb floating around the top of the tree until he could sense Kirlia going into battle again.

It seemed that the ground Pokemon weren't coming in hordes but in pairs as a second Cubone appeared. Out speeding the Pokemon Kirlia used another blast of psychic to knock Cubone out. Once it was done she was surrounded by a purple aura as Dusknoir lifted her back up to the branch where Simon had removed a book, dad's journal, and started reading it again. "When the incense smoke fades I'll use the paper lantern in order to draw in ghost Pokemon. First we will catch us a Frillish then like the ground Pokemon we can train up Kirlia some more." "Kiii." she said agreeing. "Frillish is the last ghost Pokemon, you'll have them all." Dusknoir noted. "Yeah just need to train the others all up."

Doing a graceful jump and flip in the air Kirlia floated down and landed gracefully. Calling out to the Phanpy Kirlia got the ground Pokemon to stop attacking the tree and turn to face her. The Pokemon charged at her but she easily avoided it. Dodging over and over she grew tired of teasing it using psychic to knock the small elephant Pokemon out.

When another Larvitar came out of the woods Kirlia used another blast of leaves. They looked as if they were traveling on the wind but they weren't. The wind was actually her psychic power because even though she looked grass her typing of psychic and fairy not grass at all. When Larvitar fainted Simon looked at the jar seeing the last of the smoke go out. Taking his backpack and jumping down he picked Kirlia up and returned Dusknoir before continuing down the path towards the exit of the woods when he paused thinking about just using the ghost item here since it would work as well anywhere.

Pausing in a different area that didn't house the huge tree Simon carefully removed the paper lantern. There was a stick so he could have it be above and behind him. In the day it wouldn't light anything but at night it would do a decent job. So taking out some matches he had purchased he lit the candle inside and attached it so that it would hang a few inches above and behind him. Looking around Simon figured it was like the incense so he closed his eyes and thought about the last Pokemon. Opening his eyes he saw the blue Pokemon floating out of the woods, through a tree. Scanning it Simon let Kirlia down to use the super effective grass move since this was a water Ghost. "Frillish the floating Pokemon. They paralyze prey with poison, then drag them down to their lairs, five miles below the surface." When it was defeated Simon threw a Pokeball and cheered as Frillish was caught and the Pokeball whooshed to his PC.

Chuckling as a second Frillish appeared it was just like the incense had been, this time it was a pink one. That meant this one was a female instead of a male however Simon didn't want two Frillish especially after seeing when he will evolve into the secondary form. Frillish was caught at level ten and wouldn't evolve until he reached level forty. Nodding at Kirlia to attack again with magical leaf. Several glowing leaves hurled across at the Pokemon causing her to seem to deflate before being whooshing away to be healed and released again. Thinking things over Simon wondered if the lantern would draw in rarer Pokemon like Rotom and Spiritomb. Probably not but it was still a thought.

Maybe it was the capture of the first Pokemon but the next ghost was also a Frillish. There was a beep from the dowsing machine so after Kirlia defeated the water Ghost Simon checked it out. The machine's power light had changed from Green to yellow and was now slowly flashing. This meant that it was going to die soon. Looking around Simon hoped they could locate at least one other item before it went dead. Sending out Aron and Shroomish, along with Kirlia they all searched for items.
