In the Garden of Monsters

Unfortunately for once in the ghost's afterlife, the puns weren't on her side of things. Beckoning for her to come closer, Argyle would spray her with one of the two potions he was carrying. Perhaps he'd need to see about resupplying eventually.

Sybelle for her part would absorb the mist. Oh sure it wasn't toxic, but vapor was vapor.

User Image
Starter Pokemon: Croagunk [M]
Name & Level: Jekyll, Lv 10
[Temperament] Naughty
Bio:The story of how Argyle met Jekyll is a bit of an odd one. After purchasing a bulk shipment of skin rejuvenating mud from Sinnoh's Great Marsh (Guarnteed to take twenty years off your appearance!), Mistress Rosevelt had set aside some time for a fully immersive experience with the product, during which she received quite the surprise. It would seem the mud had come with stowaway in the form of an egg. Unfortunately it was about this same time the egg decided to hatch, splattering the aristocratic woman with muck and eggshell. After a shriek and shrill cry for the nearest Argyle to attend her, Verde arrived and was immediately ordered to dispose of the creature, although not before cleaning up the mess it had created. Whispering a snide remark just below his breath, both Mistress and Argyle were in for a surprise when the newly born Croagunk began to snicker devilishly. It seemed the Poison-type had heard the boy, and shared his sense of humor. Amused by this fact the young Butler then went about the task of convincing Mistress Rosevelt that the Croagunk would be quite useful in his regular duties, allowing him to make the manor to "shine as radiantly as you do Mistress Rosevelt". Little more in the way of convincing was required on the boy's part, and so he obtained his first and for the time being only Pokemon.

Since then Jekyll has proven a good match for Argyle, frequently snickering at the boy's comments be they made aloud, or simply implied. Unlike Argyle however Jekyll does nothing to hide his wicked nature, frequently mocking others quite openly and then laughing about it. Though cruel he is not crude, and more than willingly to amuse himself by catching the enemy off guard.

Bio: While traversing the bizarre terrain of The Island of New Beginning's third ring, and after a particularly awful joke by Jekyll, Argyle would be altered to the presence of a Gastly by her insane giggling. Immediately seeing the advantages of owning a Ghost-type, the youth would go about putting on a comedy routine. Relying on an old act performed for his mistress's pets, and the hope that Jekyll would do his part, the pair sent the Gastly bowling over with laughter. So amused by the duo's antics, Sybelle decided to stick around in hopes of future entertainment.

>Snrk! looks like you're all wet, ya gasbag!< The Shuppet didn't realize what Argyle had misted Sybelle with, or what it meant for the battle-- she was too naive to the ways of humans. And she wasn't exactly a deep thinker for anything that wasn't related to jokes or pranks. Speaking of which...

The Shuppet faded out of exist, turning invisible for but a moment, only to reappear next to Sybelle. She give the loudest Screeh possible, trying to lower the Gastly's defense.

As it happened Sybelle's defense would come in the form of no defense at all. She didn't have ears after all so....actually how did she hear? This called for science! Wait she left her labcoat and beakers back at the crater. Well this just wouldn't do! She'd need to solicit proper supplies from her trainer later. Especially whoopie cushions.

-2 to Sybelle's Defense!
Metaphysical ramblings would not protect the Gastly! The Shuppet snickered, a noisy >huehuehuehue<, and floated backwards. She wiggled what could roughly be considered her "butt" at Sybelle, teasing her. It wasn't a dodge so much as a challenge... would Sybelle be up for it?

There was clearly only one appropriate response to such a taunt. In a truly Astonish-ing turn of events, using only her mouth for lack of hands, Sybelle would attempt to give the Shuppet an ATOMIC WEDGIE! They were going to need an Excorcist if they wanted to remove this Shuppet's non-existent undies from it's head! How was any of this working? WHO CARED! They were ghosts! Logic and the laws of reality need not apply!

(20-8 )+(11-9) = 14 * 2 = 28 DMG! Shuppet is at -5 HP!
>OO LA... laaaaaaaaa...< The Shuppet couldn't help shrieking in surprise as Sybelle's icy gripe yanked... something. Given the Shuppet wasn't wearing underwear, it was unclear what exactly was being wediged. Possibly her soul. Which would explain why, with anothe scream, the Shuppet would exploded into a burst of purple particles. No, Sybelle hadn't killed her opponents-- killing a ghost wasn't an easy thing-- but the Shuppet was out like a light.

Sybelle gains 117 EXP!
239/175 -> 64/200! Sybelle is at level 7!

Listening to the cries of the Shuppet, Sybelle could only giggle like a loon, her body rolling back and forth in the air a few moments before Argyle would take the time to recall her. She'd done well. At least for the time being.

Still that was a tad closer than Argyle would have liked. She was no Jekyll certain. Though to be fair he supposed he hadn't yet given her that sort of chance. These thoughts wandering through his head, Argyle would continue forward. Hopefully towards the backdoor.

"GANGWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!"

A distinguish-looking older gentleman rushed past Argyle. Admittedly, he'd probably look more distinguish if he wasn't screaming and running for his life, but that's how things went sometimes. He skidded to a halt, turning to stare down wildly at the green-haired child before him. "CURSED ARTIFACT! NEVER TOUCH! RUN NOW!" With that bit of an eloquent warning, the man took off down the aisle. It would potentially be tempting to ignore him...

rumble rumble rumble rUMBLE

... were it not for the increasingly-loud thundering behind him. If Argyle turned, he'd see a sight most out of place for the little curiosity shop-- a massive boulder rolling right down the aisle. It was making a beeline straight for him, as if powered by fate or a still-disgruntled owner. Perhaps it was time to take the confused archaeologist's advice...

For a moment Argyle would stand there stock still, eyeing the boulder as it came near him. No it wasn't the the absurdity of the situation, nor the question of why a boulder was in a Curios Shop. It was how much this reminded him of those old Kanto Jones Movies Argyle I was so fond of. Thus, in the mind of a twelve year old, there was only one appropriate solution to this situation.

Snagging a dusty old hat from one of the shelves and placing it on his head, Argyle would turn tail and run down the aisles. He wasn't merely going to run however! As he passed the shelves he'd grab the closest thing to a rope he could locate, tying it to one of those #1 such and so mugs, and make multiple attempts to sling it over any branch or pole like objects. Flag pole, exposed rafter, it didn't particularly matter. After several attempts....one of which lead to him having to replace the smashed mug as a weight....the boy would succeed!

Kicking off the one of the shelves and shifting his weight, Argyle would try his damnedest to swing up and over or around the boulder! You didn't have to run from it if you were behind it after all!

Much to the surprise of literally everyone, including people not in the room, Argyle succeed in his daring ploy! Perhaps if he ever got tired of working as a butler, he could use the fallback career of archaeologist... or acrobat. There was always the circus! Regardless, the boulder would tumble under him and safely away, careening and clattering down the aisle. Eventually, this unstoppable force WOULD be stopped, as it smashed into something not too far away. But for now, the aisle was clear.

Letting go of the rope, Argyle would brush himself off rather briskly before removing the dusty hat. With a flick of his wrist, the boy would toss it onto the nearby lamp. Argyle I eat your heart out. Being that he was a child and just accomplished something the average twelve year old only dreamed of, he couldn't help but be a little smug.

Choosing to leave the rope where it hang, the young butler slash criminal-in-training, would proceed down the aisle. There had to be a back door to this place somewhere. Given the boulder, perhaps there was just a very large hole in the back wall.

Proceeding down the aisles in silence as he attempted to find his way out of here, Argyle would actually yawn. As isrumptive as they could be, he occasionally forgot how boring it was when Jekyll was away. The boy had chosen to proceed without any of his Pokemon for once. A rare occurrence. He supposed he could have taken this time to walk with Thanatos....but he had a sneaking suspicion the Cubone wasn't much for conversation. Language barrier aside.

Pokemon: Gastly [F]
Name & Level: Sybelle, Lv 7
[Temperament] Impish
Bio: While traversing the bizarre terrain of The Island of New Beginning's third ring, and after a particularly awful joke by Jekyll, Argyle would be altered to the presence of a Gastly by her insane giggling. Immediately seeing the advantages of owning a Ghost-type, the youth would go about putting on a comedy routine. Relying on an old act performed for his mistress's pets, and the hope that Jekyll would do his part, the pair sent the Gastly bowling over with laughter. So amused by the duo's antics, Sybelle decided to stick around in hopes of future entertainment.

Finally, Argyle would find out what had become of the boulder. As he came to the end of the aisle, he'd find shattered pieces of rock scattered across the back hall. A lone figure stood amidst the wreckage, standing tall and proud. Dressed in white, red, and green and wearing a modified military uniform, he seemed distinctly out of place in the darkness of Ostglass. He balanced a Bronzor on his arm, lightly coated with dust. He looked up, flashing Argyle a wide grin. "Greeting, young man!" he boomed, striding forward. "My name is Captain Sinnoh, and I'm on the lookout for whatever dastard attempted to destroy this domicile." He leaned former and gave a conspiratorial whisper. "Between you and me, I think it might be the Snowpoint Soldier. Anyway, my good man, have you seen anything out of place?"

>Saaaaaaaaaaaave... meeeeeeeeeeee...< Apparently someone wasn't on board with heroics; the Bronzor remaiend cross-eyed after being smashed against a boulder.

Without Jekyll or Sybelle to handle the Bronzor's side of these shenanigans, Argyle would barely cast the Pokemon a glance as he regarded this rather...interesting character standing before him. He didn't know if the Bronzor was a willing participant...or even a real Bronzor....not that he particularly cared. What was clear to him was this man was either a lunatic, or an idiot, which meant only one course of action.

Standing silently for a moment as he closed his eyes, Argyle would put a closed fist to his mouth and clear his throat. When he opened them his pupils had dilated, and with a little effort on the part of making them tear up, sparkled in the dim light. "Thank goodness you're here!" He proclaimed with childlike enthusiasm "I can't tell you what is up, me bein' so young sir, but something awful strange is goin on here! People flyin' inta rages like they've been possessed! N' all sorts of odd lookin items sir! Why just a moment ago a man....some sorta scientist I reckon....ran passed me shoutin' bout some boulder!" Argyle said in a childish, lowbrow frenzy....all the while trying not to gag. Thank Arceus nobody else was around to see this. "I think he ran down that way sir! If'n ya hurry you may be able to catch 'im!" With that, he began pointing down the way he'd come, acting like a child who'd experienced far too much excitement for his young mind.

So in short he was acting like Argyle V the time he found out chocolate technically grows on trees.

"SWEET SCREAMING SEWADDLE!" Captain Sinnoh boomed, green eyes alight with excitement... and justice! "Thank you, my observant young lad! It seems I've come not a moment too soon... oh, Ostglass! My beautiful glass, tainted by the filthy water of evil!!" He was practically tearing up, clenching his fist in a dramatic manner, and swung out with his other arm... which led to the poor beleagured Bronzor being smashed into a nearby shelf. The Pokemon gave a pitiful cry, which he patently ignored. "Get moving, young buck! This is no place for a child... so I'll handle thiiiiis!" And with that, he dove down the aisle, yelling like a maniac.
