Ostglass

Rocket's grip on the world may have lessened, but it still remains in the streets of Ostglass. Probably not surprising, given the seediness of this urban jungle. Ostglass is an older city, but remains just as busy as ever-- thriving business sit alongside more traditional underground action. There's a roughness to the city, a worn-down but vicious spirit that could eat you alive without flinching. There's plenty to see here, but also plenty to lose. Keep your head down and an eye on your wallet.

Giving a massive sigh as he stepped off the train, Argyle weakly attempted to fix his hair. All that crowd dodging and he'd still ended up standing the whole way, swaying as he held onto one of those flimsy handles dangling from the ceiling. He'd almost had a seat on three separate occasions, however courtesy demanded he give up the position to another on two separate occasions, and third had nearly resulted in him being sat on by some overgrown lummox.

He could barely stand riding in one of these things, he wasn't sure how the people of the Unova region managed to battle on them!

Grumbling slightly, the boy would begin his trudge into town.

Jekyll, being his usual helpful and supportive self, would simply snicker at his Trainer's plight.

Bio:The story of how Argyle met Jekyll is a bit of an odd one. After purchasing a bulk shipment of skin rejuvenating mud from Sinnoh's Great Marsh (Guarnteed to take twenty years off your appearance!), Mistress Rosevelt had set aside some time for a fully immersive experience with the product, during which she received quite the surprise. It would seem the mud had come with stowaway in the form of an egg. Unfortunately it was about this same time the egg decided to hatch, splattering the aristocratic woman with muck and eggshell. After a shriek and shrill cry for the nearest Argyle to attend her, Verde arrived and was immediately ordered to dispose of the creature, although not before cleaning up the mess it had created. Whispering a snide remark just below his breath, both Mistress and Argyle were in for a surprise when the newly born Croagunk began to snicker devilishly. It seemed the Poison-type had heard the boy, and shared his sense of humor. Amused by this fact the young Butler then went about the task of convincing Mistress Rosevelt that the Croagunk would be quite useful in his regular duties, allowing him to make the manor to "shine as radiantly as you do Mistress Rosevelt". Little more in the way of convincing was required on the boy's part, and so he obtained his first and for the time being only Pokemon.

Since then Jekyll has proven a good match for Argyle, frequently snickering at the boy's comments be they made aloud, or simply implied. Unlike Argyle however Jekyll does nothing to hide his wicked nature, frequently mocking others quite openly and then laughing about it. Though cruel he is not crude, and more than willingly to amuse himself by catching the enemy off guard.

The streets around Argyle were full of bustling passerbys; the city was a lively, busy place full of people. And where there were people, there were Pokemon... Pokemon often trying to mess with other humans. Even over the murmuring, rushing crowd, people would be able to hear a distant metallic clank clank clank. >Iiiiiiiiiiii looooooooooooooove traaaaaaaaaaash~< came a sing-song voice, alerting the populace to two things: a trash can seemed to be moving towards the crowd, and it was singing. Or rather, the Trubbish within the can, who poked his head out happily. >And you should too!< he informed the crowd.

Savvy travellers and Ostglass natives were already trying to hurry out of the way, but they wouldn't be fast enough. In what could only be called a "trash volcano", the Trubbish's can exploded with refuse, which arch gracefully through the air... and appeared to be heading straight for Argyle.

Argyle, like any good twelve year old butler, would take off full tilt into the dwindling crowd, more than happy to use anyone larger than himself as a human shield. He owed these people nothing, and better them than him.

Unfortunately, his ruthless nature and speedy legs weren't enough to spare him from the shower of trash. Bits fell on him-- he'd probably want to wash his hair when he got the change. Though he was better off than some of the people in the crowd, he'd probably want to excuse himself to clean up when he got to this strange store called Idle Hands.

Argyle was not amused. For a good thirty seconds he would just stand their, starring straight ahead in a sort of cold rage. A Butler must keep their appearance proper and perfect at all times, and most of all they were not to smell even when dealing with the nastiest of messes. This was unacceptable! Worse yet he didn't have a proper change of attire or any scented sprays on hand to rectify this travesty! His bag was far too small for an extra set of clothes, and a Butler did not wear a backpack unless his master was hiking!

Letting out a deep, slow breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding, the boy would reach up and remove the banana peel off his head. Rather than tossing it aside however he would pass it to the Croagunk sitting on his shoulder, delivering the simple instruction of "Holds this" before proceeding forward. He needed soap, water, and a bucket.

This time, the Pokemon Argyle encountered wasn't hostile. It wasn't even paying that much attention to him. A Smeargle stood in front of an expanse of wall not too far from the somewhat disgruntled butler. He was hard at work painting the bricks rapidly. For a non-professional and a Pokemon, it was quite good-- the wall had been painted black, with strange silvery-white-grey pinpricks of stars doting the abyss. At the moment, he dragged his tail across the night sky, mixing a dark blue with a light turquiose in bizarre but imposing abstract monsters. The crept alongside the the outlimits of the murals, approaching... something in the center, for the little graffiti artist hadn't finished yet. Argle was free to watch the painting, or continue forward... or he could even try to figure out what was being drawn.

Wandering as he was down the street, Argyle would stop for a time to watch the Smeargle as it worked. Curious that the Pokemon was making such a thing without interruption. It must have been here for at least some time before he'd arrived. Prep work and all. The youth would raise a brow as the 'monsters' appeared, but it would be his companyion which put forth the first guess.

">Elgyem!<" The Croagunk cried. With all the stars what else could they be?

"Deoxys?" Argyle asked witha tilt of his head. Certainly the thing had been monstrous and space related.

Ok so there was that! Still the Croagunk would stick to his guns on this one.

Argyle on the other-hand would scowl, brow furrowing. If it was Deoxys or any other Pokemon though, then why not simply draw it? This was too abstract...it had to represent....something? Was it Space? Time? Arceus the all mighty? Maybe it was a portal....wasn't their legends of a Pokemon that opened up rifts? Or was it a distorted version of this world?

Crossing his arms, Argyle grumbled. Oh this was going to annoy him the more he watched. He cursed the fact he didn't speak Pokemon in this moment, so as to simply ASK the Smeargle what it was painting. Well he could still ask, but he wouldn't understand the meaning, and he doubted Jekyll was just that good of a pantomime to explain a work of art.

Making a low, short noise of irritation, the boy would wander off. Even if he saw the end of this he wouldn't understand what it meant, and that would just cause him further annoyance.

Argyle would come across an crowded and busy intersection, packed with people, cars, bikes, and (unsurprisingly) Pokemon. It wasn't the safest-looking place, but it would be the quickest route to Idle Hands. Then again, there was a side street that seemed to lead towards the same direction...

Although under normal circumstances many complicated thoughts would have gone through Argyle's mind at this moment, the boy simply didn't have the patience. Marching forward a bit rcklessly, the boy would attempt to cross the street.

It seemed Argyle would find himself quite lucky! By good fortune, he'd chosen to cross right at a moment of slow traffic. There was lull in the traffic-- few cars were moving, and he'd be able to navigate right through the road without getting hit or tripped up. Within no time at all, he'd find himself on the other side of the road, and closer to his destination!

Apparently all those years of squeezing his way through the crowd on market day had paid off. Granted the market back near the manor was never nearly as packed as this busy street, but the concept remained the same. Follow the same rules and you could get through in one piece. Dusting himself, and ensuring both Jekyll and the Croaguhk's cargo remained, the boy would proceed at a lax pace.

Despite being something of a rough journey, Argyle would finally find himself at the promised land... or something similar. Sandwiched between a street corner and a larger general store was a worn sign, which read "Idle Hands" in unprofessional, smeared black paint. There was only one window, but the tinted coloration made it unclear what Idle Hands was exactly, let alone what was going in on inside. Still, the door was cracked, and the sound of murmured voices could be heard even outside the building.

A man stood outside the place, leaning next to the door as he smoked. A Hoothoot sat at his feet, pecking around the ground in search of something... or perhaps out of boredom. The man would glance down at the young trainer briefly before returning to his smoke. It wasn't clear how often children Argyle's age chowed up at Idle Hands.

Argyle would look at the man for a moment, briefly shaking his head. Smoking. Ugh. Awful habit, and completely unacceptable for a Butler. Cigarettes stained ones teeth and ruined their breath, not to mention the negative impact it had on one's breathing, ultimately effecting their ability to perform extraneous activity at length. Not even remotely suitable for a Butler, whom must maintain their proper appearance at all times! Not to mention what the smoke did to the walls and one's clothes! As always Argyle's focus was more on appearances than actual issues with health. Even if they were dying a Butler must be prim and proper!

Shaking his head again the boy would slowly open the door, providing only enough space for him to enter the establishment. He didn't wish to make any sort of a seen of course. The smoking man would hence be ignored. While he had a great distaste for the man's habit, he had no cause to bring this up as at the moment it bore no effect on his own status.

Jekyll, as always, shared none of his trainer's opinions about being quiet. Didn't matter if it was his business or not; besides, he was hilarious so he could get away with it~! ">Enjoy your cancer!<" The Poison-type would croak over Argyle's shoulder. Two cents or two dollars, when it came to words Jekyll was always on a spending spree!

If Argyle listened carefully, he'd hear the smoking man laugh. Potentially, he'd heard Jekyll's comment and found it funny... or maybe he was laughing at the drivers currently screaming at each other in the road. Always a good time in Ostglass.

His wish would be granted; the store at large didn't notice the little butler and his witty blue frog's entrance. The store itself was comfortably cramped-- a small and dingy building that felt smaller because of all the people, furniture, and Pokemon within it. Overhead, the lights were dim, adding to the claustrophobic effect. The dark coloring of the walls and the rich pine wooden floors didn't help. The left-hand and back wall were lined with tables and bookshelves, while a bar counter ran alongside the right. The center of the store was dotted with tables and chairs, populated by talking clusters of humans and Pokemon. All in all, it was a busy spot, tinged with a hint of unease... and given the hints of floating dust motes, it wasn't clear when the last time it'd been properly cleaned. The unholy cross between a dive bar, a bookstore, and something more sinister.

>hoooo<

A low exhale from Argyle's right might catch his attention. A Noctowl perched on a hair rack, and it was currently staring right at the youth. He cooed again, which caught the attention of a tall, graceful woman. A tray in one hand, she approached Argyle with a stony look on her face. "You lost, kiddo?" she asked, before flicking the back of Noctowl's head. "And you! Where's Dylan? Don't tell me he's skivved off with Lenore again.,." As if distracted, she turned back. "Anyway, this isn't a daycare, so you oughta get going." Clearly, she wasn't impressed by Argyle.
