When Nirav had received the pokegear notification, he was already up and about. The boy had eaten breakfast with his pokemon and was currently working on the family presentation for his History project. It was an off day, sure, but Nirav didn't come to this school to slack off! He had his mind set on both projects anyway, even if it meant doing work in the morning.
His history teacher informed the boy that this was technically a holiday widely celebrated, and that Halloween festivities would happen later tonight. "A celebration? For what? And since when are there costumes?" Nirav, never having celebrated a proper Halloween back home, was absolutely confused as to what was going on today. It seemed special to everyone else, but for Nirav and others back on One Island, Halloween was just an ordinary day. Being in the middle of the off season, there was never enough spare money to afford costumes or candy. Not knowing anything else, Nirav never thought much about it.
But now it was weird. Surely costumes were just something the school wanted to start, right?
Nirav didn't think much on it. It was probably just a silly little thing the school was doing, even though this wasn't really a holiday. The boy set his books by a chair and sat by the pool, dipping his bare feet into the water. There was something nice about sitting by the water. It wasn't a beach, but it reminded him of home, and that reminder helped him in focusing on his project. Raja and Kumo sat by the shallow end, Raja wading in the water and Kumo floating above it."Rest up, guys. Apparently there is something going on today? Maybe we can skip it and work more on the project..." He sort of dreaded going to another festival and having to talk to people.

Walking towards the pool from the hallways, the young student had decided to use her free day doing whatever, maybe catching a few pokemon or something. Her primary focus was on that breeding class assignment about egg families, but first came some time by the pool with Azure. The pokemon was sort of teaching her how to swim, the girl having not ever been able to since her family was always busy with the pokemon that they had been working with. She entered the girls' changing room and ran her fingers through her freshly cut hair. It had gotten longer than she had wanted, and decided to keep it short as opposed to long. Ashley liked how it looked so far and would probably keep this style for as long as possible, though she looked like a bit of a tomboy now. She hurried in and changed into attire appropriate for practicing to swim alongside Azure, the mudkip napping in her bag as she gently set it down on the floor before changing. A few minutes had passed, the student fitting herself into a swimsuit before walking out from the stalls just as the Mudkip hopped out of his bag and began to stretch. Hesitating to step foot outside, Ashley mustered up all the confidence she could manage and told herself nobody would surely be here, as the festival was just too wild for anyone to spend their time swimming. Unfortunately, she found herself sharing the pool with another boy she recognized from a few of her classes or so. She had never gotten a name, but the general appearance did ring a bell for her. She froze in fear, trying to cover herself back up until Azure hopped out from behind her and made his way towards the pool, jumping in and then darting around the water in glee. He definitely seemed to love their little sessions here at the pool. The Mudkip swam along, eventually becoming curious about the Eevee and making his way towards it before shaking his fins at the fox-like pokemon. Ashley slowly walked towards the edge as her heart started to race, some red coloring showing up on her cheeks.It was somewhat embarassing for her pokemon to run rampant like this, but she was more afraid of what would happen if this boy or his pokemon would try and drag her in. Lowering herself down to the ledge, she slowly put her feet into the water and watched as Azure interacted with Raja while keeping an eye on the Eevee's owner.

Nirav was enjoying the time to himself at the pool. He had no intention to go swimming this morning. As much as he enjoyed the water, swimming in a pool felt so weird in comparison to the salt water of an ocean. That, and he had things to do later today. Actually swimming meant not getting work done. He did have his swim trunks in his bookbag, however. A little break wouldn't totally hurt... Right? Maybe if he finished what he wanted to get done.
From the womens' changing room door stepped out a red haired girl. Nirav froze, staring at her. He had seen her around before, but didn't know who she was. Why was she even going swimming now? Wasn't there a festival today that everyone was preparing for? Nirav had been hoping for some time to himself. While the girl seemed a little startled, her pokemon, a Mudkip, bounded towards the water, jumping in with a small splash. Nirav watched as it swam towards Raja, shaking its fins at him. Nirav quietly stood and went to his things, grabbing his pokedex and scanning the pokemon. Mudkip: The Mud Fish Pokemon.
Raja shook some of the water off of himself, though kept some distance between himself and the Mudkip. Nirav looked to Raja, watching to make sure he didn't fall in too deep. The boy wasn't sure if the Eevee could swim. A Vaporeon probably could, but could an Eevee? At least Kumo could float! Kumo, however, was more interested in the girl that had come in. He began to float closer to her while Nirav was distracted with the Mudkip and the Eevee. "Drif, Drifloon?"(Hey, who are you?) Unlike Raja and Nirav, talking to new people was no issue for Kumo. In fact, it could be a lot of fun! Maybe one day, the two of them could see that.

Ashley felt the eyes of the boy dig deep into her soul as she returned the awkward stare back, rubbing her arm out of anxiousness as she did her best to not seem to foreign towards him. She attempted to at least greet him in a way that would show she had not come here purely just to torment him during his desire to be alone with his two Pokémon. She had come for the same thing he had, although hers seemed much more exclusive and rather personal. Still, Ashley shot him an attempt at a smile before quickly fading away as she looked back out at her Pokémon. "Ha-Hi." Azure seemed to be pretty content with Raja keeping distance from him, the water type Pokémon now busy floating along while waiting for his master to hurry and jump in. He peeked his head out from the water and stared up at Ashley with and curious look on his face. He turned to the boy sitting near her and swam over towards him. He swam around the boy's feet a few times before going back over towards Ashley and going "Kip!"
There was little use in ignoring Azure's call for her, knowing that she was only delaying the inevitable at this point. She gave the boy another troubled look, one of timidness and vulnerability, before moving over towards the shallow section of the pool as the lesson was still getting set up. All of a sudden, a Drifloon floated over towards the red haired girl, her eyes brimming with curiousity at this new Pokémon. "Oh! Hello there." Her shy tone from before had all but vanished, being replaced with one full of elation and a pure heart. She smiled at the Drifloon and held her hand it towards it, waiting to see if it would allow her to pet it. "My name is Ashley. It's nice to meet such a cute Pokémon. Who are you?" She asked the balloon Pokémon, an it disappointed her Pokedex was all the way over at the other side of the room or she could have scanned the Pokémon. Azure seemed interested in the Drifloon, a tad jealous of the affection he was being given.
