Poppy wouldn't have to worry about the jostling for long. As she stepped further down the path the bag would begin doing so as if of it;s own accord! The bag would practically be bouncing as the girl attempted to proceed, the motions followed by the sharp rap of something against glass.
Suddenly there was a clatter, and before Poppy could see what was the matter a Pokemon would leap out of her bag. Managing a flip despite it's untrained muscles, the little pink Psychic-type would make an unsteady landing on the Lily Pad path. It would seem the girl's Mime Jr had decided now was a good moment to make her debut on the stage of life.
Getting her footing the Mime Jr would perform a short, wobbly dance, ending in a spin and curtsy combo.
It was then that a Ducklett would choose to fly overhead, obvious to the scene below as it gently flapped it's blue wings. A glint would come into the Mime Jr's eye then, an unsettling smile crossing her young mouth. There was something sinister about it.
Picking up a piece of eggshell which had followed her during her grand escape, the Psychic-type would spin on what passed for her heel and fling the shard with all her might. Flying surprisingly straight and true, the egg shell would crumble to bits as it smashed into the Ducklett's head, knocking it from the sky and into the bog with a startled ">QUACK!<".
The deed done, the hatchling would turn around back to her trainer and 'mother' looking rather pleased with herself. Apparently Poppy had hatched a wild one!

The commotion from her bag is noticed first by Shinx, standing as he is just a step behind and beside her, who eyes the unnatural bouncing suspiciously. When it becomes more noticable against her back as not caused by her walking, Poppy pauses just as something raps on the glass. Shifting one of the straps off of her shoulders so she can turn towards it to unzip the bag and check it out, she is beat to the punch when the clatter of (presumedly) the lid sounds and a little Pokemon leaps out.
Both Poppy and Shinx observe the baby Pokemon's performance, Shinx with interest and Poppy with her same emotionless expression. They watch as she spies a Ducklett overhead and chucks a piece of her eggshell straight at it and nails it in the head, causing it to fall down into the bog. Well, then. Poppy slings the bag back onto her back and reaches into the bag at her hip to pull out the one spare pokeball she has been holding on to for this very moment.
>Man, I like this one. Of the new crew, this little baby is the most interesting!< Shinx praises Mime Jr.'s debut and trots over to the little thing, unaware that she has 'imprinted' upon him as her parent. Circling her and sniffing at her, he is caught by surprise when she wraps her arms around his neck in an uncomfortably tight hug that he has to yank himself out of. >Watch it, kid, just because you're a new hatch doesn't mean I won't smack you around to teach you who the boss around here is!<
Either unconcerned with his threat or oblivious to it, the Mime Jr. mimics her mother's reaction, learning from him. Her attention is grabbed by the human when Poppy squats down beside them with the pokeball in hand, and places her tiny hand on Shinx's back fur as she dances wobbly around to keep him in between her and Poppy.
He snorts as he realizes what's going on, and shakes his body to dislodge her hand from his back. The Mime Jr. stumbles, but manages to catch herself before she falls, and stares at her mother in annoyed question. >That human there is our human, and that ball in her hand is yours, got it? Go over there and press the button on it and stay put until it beeps!< At her mother's prodding, the Mime Jr. walks unsurely back around him towards Poppy, and reaches a hand out to press the button on the outstretched pokeball.
The baby Pokemon is enveloped in red light and called into the pokeball, and just as commanded stays inside until it beeps, signifying the successful capture. "Just in time for us to return home. Then let us be off, Shinx." Poppy straightens to tuck her new Pokemon's ball in with the others, but doesn't get the chance when Mime Jr. lets herself out in a flash of red, back on the Lilypad path. Of her own accord, Mime Jr. twirls back towards her mother and climbs up onto his back, to his indignation. Before he can shake her off, Poppy calls to him as she places the pokeball into her bag.
"If that is how it is, I am counting on you to look after Mime Jr., Shinx." Growling low in his throat, he puts up with the nuisance on his back as he trudges after Poppy towards the path's exit.
((Sorry for the delay. Two exams this week and two birthdays.))
So close and yet so far, even as Poppy had entered the home stretch she'd find her victory cut short, and all by the actions of her newest Pokemon. The water around them would swirl, bubbling and churning as if it were being heated. A shadow would appear in the briny depths, and as it spread it's wings and rose from the deep, water would slosh across the path and ground.
It was a Ducklett that now stood in there path, and judging from the throbbing vein in it's head and a chip of eggshell on it's cheek, one they had met recently. The Water-type looked upon them with eyes overflowing with wrath. He'd been migrating. Stopped by just for a little n** before going on his way. Then....then he was taken out of the sky like a target in some kind of children's videogame!
The water practically seemed to steam around the fowl with an equally so temper. They were going to pay for this outrage!
It would seem Poppy had encountered a Pokemon from the darkest abyss! The Ducklett from hell as it were!
Kiani wasn't as alright as she thought, unbeknownst to her, she was bleeding internally from that hit. Her liver was ruptured, and slowly, her midsection was turning black and blue with blood. Her breathing was labored and she began to feel light headed. Soon, Kiani dropped to her knees and fell forward, the life draining from her eyes.....she was dead.

((No worries, we've all been there.))
Nikki and her Pokemon would find they had landed on the outskirts of the Island's filthy swamp. The scent of decay and the leftovers of the ocean rose from the murky depths. Not the prettiest place, but it was the site of their current mission.
Brackish Bog
This is a place made of salt and death. Where fresh water from further inland brings all manner of dead plants to be washed out to sea, but over the years the route has become congested, the slowing of the current allowing new flora to grow over the old and increase the problem. This is a place where the living survive off the dead, so watch your step lest you become something's next meal; and don't drink the water.

Upon turning around to see where they had landed, Nikki was slightly disappointed to see a brackish bog. However, she didn't let it show. Either way, she'd get a chance to see new pokemon and she'd still get to complete her mission. "Alright Ari, let's get this done." Nikki said, taking her first steps on the island.

So far, so good. Nikki and Ari hadn't met any pokemon yet, but she also hadn't tripped and fallen into the gross waters of the bog. "You know Ari, it would probably take weeks to get the smell out of this place out of my clothes if I got wet." Nikki said, trying to breath shallowly. It really wasn't a pleasant smell.
The bog's atmosphere hung heavy of the water, dark and thick. The place teemed with life, certainly, but it was a dull and dreary existence. Heavy with water and putrefaction, this wasn't the place to one would expect to find the brighter aspects of life... and yet, Nikki would. Literally, if not figuratively.
A faint but steady light pulsated through the murky grim; it slowly and steadily approached Nikki, moving in a straight, determined line. The source would become clear-- a Volbeat, cartoonish eyes narrowed most unnaturally. >YOU!< he buzzed, stopping short right before the new student. >HUMAN! Retreat immediately, or face the consequences!< His voice was a sharp, vicious drone. He spread his wings, vibrating sharply. >Since the unlawful kidnapping of my beloved Illumise, no humans are permitted further in the Brackish Bog! So says the Area Guardian!< His light flickered rapidly as she shook, a strange energy in his heart. >Leave! Leave, or face me in battle!< Someone had upset this poor Pokemon quite a bit, and unfortunately, Nikki was going to have to pay the price.

Aaaand it looks like their luck just ran out. As Ari and Nikki took a few more steps into the bog, they were stopped by a volbeat. Nikki, of course, pulled her trusty sketch pad out of her bag and began sketching it, completely unaware as to what the volbeat was saying. It was kind of cute though, obviously upset, but that kind of upset where it was more adorable than menacing.
Ari, on the other hand, could understand every word this volbeat was saying, and she rolled her eyes as Nikki drew. Of course, she decided that she might have a chance to convince the volbeat to stand down. However, Ari slightly hoped that a battle would ensue. > "Look, I am not sure who upset you, but we cannot leave and we won't." < Ari said, sighing.
Nikki finished her drawing right as Ari spoke, though she couldn't understand anything being said. However, she could tell that the Volbeat wasn't going to go anywhere without a fight and it wouldn't let her proceed. "Looks like we're in for a battle, Ari." Nikki said.

((Just a reminder: while you didn't actively indicate some sort of defense in your post, I could count your roll as a defense. I'm not going to, because it's a first-time thing, but if you're going to roll, please denote whether it's a defense roll/attack roll/diplomacy roll/etc.))
The Volbeat shot Ari a disdainful look. >I don't negiotiate with human pets.< He glanced between the pair, eyes as dark as his thoughts. Clearly, the human wasn't taking this seriously... youth and arrogance, by his standards. Well, it was the duty of the Guardian to shake the wool from their eyes. But it wouldn't be through words; no, he'd never been the talker. That was his beloved's realm. Rather, all he had left was action. Without any further ado, the Volbeat dove right at the Squirtle in a headlong Tackle!

Nikki wasn't surprised when the volbeat attacked, and though she wanted to counter, she decided against it. "Alright Ari, dodge it." Nikki said, feeling rather calm. She might not know exactly how the battle would turn out, but she was going to do her best.
> "Human pet? Well someone is rather bitter." < Ari snapped back, quite affronted. Now, she was definitely ready to win this battle. Ari waited until the last second, then attempted to dodge out of the way of Volbeat's tackle attack.

((No worries. Sorry, busy weekend.))
The Volbeat just barely missed the Squirtle. In his anger, he'd overshoot, skimming the surface of the scummy water. He didn't fall into the depths, but rather pulled back up, hovering just above the Squirtle. >Bitter? Bah,< he spat, practically his whole body alight with glow and hatred. >I am my own, beholden to no one but my dearest... and that only out of love. More than you can say.< He pulled back in a pre-emptive dodge, practically daring Ari to approach.
