Wherever you go and whatever you decided to do you will need to learn how to battle using your pokemon. These amazing creatures are not just companions, but guardians as well. In order to tap into their full potential you must become a proper pokemon trainer who can lead them sufficiently.
Now pay close attention! This Pokemon Battle Tutorial is meant to teach you everything about how this guild's battle system works. Since you are here that means you have read the Rules and are hoping to get a more in-depth explanation about pokemon battles.
Unlike a traditional Pokemon RP, these battles will not just rely on roleplaying, but on the dice rolling option in your post. So follow along with this battle and if there are any questions just post Here and we'll be sure to answer them.

A man wearing a cowboy hat and an eyepatch strolled into the pokemon stadium with a devilish smile on his face. He reached into his coat's chest pocket and took out a cigarette. A lighter, almost magically, appeared in his hand as just as he was about to light up his cigarette a cough interrupted him. Glancing over his shoulder towards the sound of the cough he spotted a beautiful lady with blonde hair, an uptight look, and glasses. The man blinked not sure if this woman had some business with him. She seemed to have noticed his confusion and motioned towards the sign that clearly read "No Smoking". He grinned and chuckled lightly before putting away his lighter and cigarette. He raised his hands as if showing to her that all the bad things he was carrying were gone.
She walked right passed him and he noticed she was heading to the opposite side of the stadium and that's when he realized that this woman was his opponent. His grinned grew wider as his eyes watched her back. The stadium was semi-dark, but with both pokemon trainers present the entire stadium suddenly lit up revealing a large stage standard for all official pokemon battles. "Bonjour Mademoiselle, I was not expecting to battle une belle fille." He took off his hat and placed it over his chest, but where are my manners? My name is Albert Auguste, a pleasure I'm sure." Albert was obviously having fun with this. When he was hired to demonstrate a pokemon battle he was certainly not expecting to find love on the battlefield. She had the looks, but did she has the strength to back up those fine features? Only time would tell.
The announcer entered the stage wearing a suit and carrying a microphone with him. He wore sunglasses which Albert found odd considering they were inside. However, he wore an eyepatch so who was he to judge another man's choice in style? His eyes returned to the beauty standing opposite side from him and with his good eye he gave her a wink.
"Welcome to the Pokemon Stadium. Today we will have a match between two dragon-type trainers!" The announcer declared, his voice echoing in the stadium. "Challengers please take your position as we are about to begin!"
Albert fished out a pokeball from the back of his belt and pressed the button in the middle to enlarge the sphere. "Mademoiselle, how should we decide which of us goes first? Should we let fate decide?" He grinned waiting for the reply from his opponent. The battle didn't start yet, but he was already itching with excitement!
(In order to make things fair, each player battling will roll a 10 ten-sided dice and whichever scores the highest will make the first move. Also when posting make sure to include your pokemon as well as information about him/her. An example is shown below which shows everything that should be included.)

The dark skinned woman fixed her glasses as she looked at the stadium. A small smirk graced her lips before it was correctly to normal and almost stoic expression. One might call it a poker face. Once walking inside, the expression changed to disgust as she covered her mouth with her gloved hand. She was assaulted with the stench of smoke and toxins that was all neatly wrapped in a cancer stick known as a cigarette. She could imagine it now seeping into her clothes; a stench that would be hard to get rid of. She turn to the offending person and there more so offending smell until she spotted someone that seemed to be stuck between an Indiana Jones movie and the life of the Old West. As her luck would have, the man seemed as bright as a one tooth cowboy. She literally had to point of the 'No Smoking' sign to get through to him. Of course the male just chuckled away as he put away the offensive substances. That didn't help him as he still reeked of the smoke.
She immediately made an effort not to talk to him as she feared for the clarity of sinus and breath. She had a battle to attend to. After all, it wasn't everyone one was asked to participate in an exhibition battle at a stadium. Maybe any person but her wasn't use to that. WHen she reached her position, it was semi dark as she wanted for her opponent. To her speak and stroke of luck, she was facing off against the cowboy was earlier. But she was in a public setting, appearance came first.
She watched with a lifted eye brow as he introduced himself...and lovely he spoke french... She curtsied to her opponent, apparently a dragon trainer much like herself. "Amelia Clearshore..." she said, her British accent rich in authenticity. "Charmed."
Amelia watched the announcer appear and then cringed when the man winked at her with his one good eye. At least it wasn't one tooth. Instead, she focused on moving her hair out of the way of her line of sight by tying it up in bun before her hands went to around her waist. She picked up the pokeball, clicking the middle button to enlarge it. She could hear him talking to her more as he asked how they why would decide who goes first.
"I honesty don't care." She said, a slight grin was reaching her face as the battle's tension started, "I just hope if you're ready to lose this match...."
The more she thought the battle the more excitement she was feeling...

(Please notice that Hydreigon's level has been changed from 64 to 56 in order to make the battle fair for both pokemon trainers. This will always be done for opponents of equal rank. Ex: Student vs Student or Teacher vs Teacher)

Amelia grinned when the announcer decided fairly that she would make the first move. "See..." she said as she fixed her gloves and the skirt that she was wearing "Ladies goes first as usually." She took a stance, her arm holding the pokeball was extended as she fixed her glasses to be straight on her face. At the same time, they released their pokemon out of the pokeball. Maybe it was basis, but her Royal seemed to shine in the spotlight as the Hydreigon flapped his wings and took flight before looking out a stretch. That was her handsome prince.
"I rather we end this battle quickly." she said with a grin as she folded her arms under her bust."However, I truly also want to give a good show to the crowd. So advise that you don't lose too quickly to my pokemon. That would be a bit of disappointment for the audience to watch" Instead of laughing aloud. Amelia merely smirked as directed her attention to her pokemon. "Alright Royal. You're up." The pokemon looked at the other Dragon, their opponent, with each of its three heads. "Use Dragon Rush."
Hydregion flapped his wings as his body because encased a bright light that started to take a dragon like form. With another screech, Royal charged the other opponent with the ferocious attack. Amelia watched her opponent alongside her pokemon. The woman wanted to see what the man would do. Obviously he was good if he was battling against her. She wanted a fight that would not leave her feeling bored.
Maybe this match could make her 'giddy'... as if!

(Notice that this is the first post out of the five needed to complete a battle; the last post was an introduction post. Because Dragon Rush has 20% chance to flinch and 75% accuracy I rolled two 10-sided dice. Since 75% is not a whole number, we round down to 70%. In my roll I got 8 and 6. The first number always represents a status ailment, in this case flinch, and the last number is accuracy. My last number was 6 meaning that Dragon Rush was successful, but my first number was 8 meaning that the attack does not cause flinch.)

Albert vowed to Amelia after hearing from the announcer that she would be going first. "Bien sûr, ladies first." Her British accent was a pleasant surprised and it made him giddy whenever he heard that voice escape from those lips. She was an assertive battler, confident with not just her words, but her technique as well. Every move, from taking out her pokeball to summoning her guardian, was elegant which transition into her pokemon. Not wanting to keep a lady waiting, Albert kissed his pokeball then released it into the air summoning his own dragon; Noivern. The bat-like pokemon spread its massive wings and cried out his battle cry, a usual tactic to intimidate his opponents.
His opponent was a Hydreigon and even though it was also a dragon-type pokemon, it looked as cool as ice. Both trainer and pokemon looked awfully confident and if Albert was any regular trainer then he would be breaking a sweat under all this pressure. However, Albert was made for pokemon battles and if her confidence spoke anything about Amelia's level of strength then he was in for a lot of fun. "I will try not to disappoint, Mademoiselle. I hope that in return you will do the same." Albert grinned and then braced himself as the whistle signaling them to begin was blown.
Hydreigon took to the skies and his body started charging -what he could only consider- dragon energy. Albert had seen this move too many times and he knew exactly how devastating it could be especially to a dragon-type pokemon. "Noivern, fly up!" Albert commanded and his pokemon followed as it flapped his wings try to gain some distance from the Hydreigon who was already charging at him. With his large wings, Noivern could travel at very high speeds and fly very high above the ground, but the Hydreigon was persistent. The bat-dragon was unable to escape from this chase and he was struck by the blue energy sending him on a course towards the ground.
"Steady yourself, ma copine," Albert spoke with a calmness in his voice. With those large ears Noivern heard his trainer's words and spread his wings wide once more to steady his fall. Noivern panted, that Dragon Rush was powerful, but he was not out yet! The time for a counter attack would begin now. "Noivern use Air Slash!"
Noivern's wings started glowing in a light blue color as he spread them wide. Once he finished charging, he flapped his wings releasing multiple disc-like energy blades from his wings. The light blue blades headed towards Hydreigon with a screeching sound as if they were cutting through the air inside the stadium.
(Air Slash has 95% accuracy, which gets reduced to 90, and a 30% chance to flinch so we roll a 2 ten-sided dice to determine if the move misses and/or flinches Hydreigon. I rolled a 10 and a 5. The first number is status ailment and since we didn't roll a 1, 2, or 3 then we missed our chance to flinch. The last number is for accuracy, since its 90% we need to roll either 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 in order to hit successfully and we rolled a 5 meaning our attack connects. Final result: Air Slash connects, but does not cause flinch)

The other pokemon was fast. But not fast enough to escape her Royal as the Dragon rush made contact. Amelia grinned for two reasons. One Royal's attack was a hit -as if the woman ever doubted it- and secondly, the pokemon was still going. After all, it wouldn't be much of a battle if it only took one hit to end the battle. Her arms were crossed over her chest as she watched the Noivern open it wings. Now the two were ready for an counter attack.
With flaps of it wings, Air Slash arose as the next attack. The first couple of slashes made contact with the Hydregion and Amelia was not going to have that be the finishing move. "Let's go Royal. Take to the sky." Another feel more were hitting Royal until the dragon his wings and get more lift off the ground. Now Royal flew around, getting more speed and momemtum to dodge the rest of the Air Slash. Amelia treated the audience to watching her pokemon perform in the air beautifully.
"Now then use Dragon Breath" Amelia said with a grin on her face. From the height in it was in the sky, Royal's three heads roared as they started their descent. As the roars, white rings with a transparent beam would come down from the heavens to attack

Since Dragon Breath has 100% accuracy, we do not need to roll for accuracy since this attack will always hit. However, it has a 30% chance to cause paralysis so we still have to roll 1 one-sided dice and get 1, 2, or 3 to paralyze Noivern. I rolled a 5 meaning Dragon Breath does not cause paralysis.

The first wave of Air Slash managed to hit their mark, but the remainder were dodged. No loss on his part, Noivern's attack had struck the dark dragon and that was enough for him. Hydreigon put on a small performance in the air as it spun to evade the blades of air; showoff. This wasn't a coordinator battle, he didn't have the 'grace' or patience for those competitions, but Amelia's pokemon seemed to feed off from the energy the crowd was giving. Hydreigon was quite high in the sky after those dodges and when it came to any battle, having the high ground always put the person above on a greater advantage. This would not be good.
"Brace yourself, ma copine!" Albert warned his pokemon who seemed who understood and felt his trainer's concern. Just like the predicted, the Hydreigon was coming down and it fired a stream of energy from its three heads. Noivern was struck in the chest by the stream continuously. "Push through it and use Focus Blast!" Noivern cried out opening its mouth wide forming a light blue orb of energy. He shot the orb forward which cut through the Dragon Breath. The light blue ball of energy seemed to expand as it travel straight through the stream of energy until it became a large size orb. Focus Blast was a powerful attack, but had awful accuracy. If this attack managed to connect then it would really hurt the Hydreigon especially since Dark-type pokemon are weak against Fighting-type attacks.
Albert was close to breaking a sweat, but he continued to carry that devilish grin on his face. What was making him so confident at the moment? Who knew, but he was really getting excited in this battle. What a thrill!
(Notice that Focus Blast has 70% accuracy and a 10% chance to lower the defense of its opponent by one stage. Lowering of stats is similar to a status ailment meaning that we must roll a dice to see if it is successful. We roll a 2 ten-sided dice. The first number was a 5 meaning that lowering the defense does not occur. The second number was a 1 meaning the attack hits the mark.)

Royal's Dragon Breath attack struck the opponent's Noivern square in his chest(of course she expected nothing less from her excellently trained Pokemon) as her Hydreigon continued his way down, closer to his target. Amelia's brow raised a tiny bit at their adversaries counterattack before her features returned to their poker face-like state. The action was quick enough to make it hardly noticeable from a far distance. A blue beam of what seemed to be pure energy pierced through the three headed Pokemon's attack and headed straight for her Royal. "Spin." The downward speed Hydreigon was going at made it impossible to completely dodge the attack Royal; he managed to avoid some of the attack with the spin, but not the brunt of it. After taking the attack the Hydreigon roared proudly as if the attack didn't faze him as the remnant glows of blues faded from his body. Now whether or not that was all bravado on the dark/dragon type's part, only Amelia and Hydreigon would know with certainty.
He was now losing ground at an even faster pace. One of the edges of her lips curved ever so slightly, creating the smallest of smirks as cogs began to spin. This was getting a little more interesting. "Close the gap between you and use Hyper Voice where it hurts." The bespectacled woman commanded without an ounce of hesitation. Without skipping a beat, Amelia's Hydreigon closed in what little space they had left between him and the Noivern by folding it's wings close and making itself more compact to drop even faster. As soon as the brutal Pokemon was within reach of Noivern's head, the three headed dragon aimed his heads at a curve to specifically grace the bat Pokemon's ears with a jarring gift. He released a cacophonous roar from its mouthes that would be way more than a little unpleasant to an sound sensitive Pokemon.

The cries from Hydreigon really rung in Noivern's large ears. He shrieked and flapped his wings to gain as much distance as he could from Hyper Voice. The attack itself was a neutral hit, unlike the previous attacks which were super effective hits, so Noivern managed to take the hit well. However, his ears were causing him a lot of pain and in turn this made the bat-dragon pokemon very mad. "Now you've made him angry mon amour, tsk tsk" Albert wiggling his finger as if he was scolding Amelia for her actions. Noivern soared into the sky and Albert knew exactly what kind of move his pokemon wanted to unleash. Even the audience would have to grab on to their seats for this next one otherwise they might blown away.
"Noivern use Hurricane!" Albert commanded as he braced himself already grabbing onto his hat in case the air currents might knock it away. Noivern spread his wings collecting energy as they started glowing a light blue color. He flapped his wings and with one single movement a powerful gust of wind was created taking the form of a tornado -no a hurricane.
The attack was very powerful, but all the power in the world wouldn't matter if it didn't connect with his opponent. Hurricane didn't have the best accuracy, but it did managed to hit its mark then Albert would be closer to securing his victory.
(Hurricane has 70% accuracy and 30% chance to Confused the target. Therefore we roll a 2 ten-sided dice; the first number will tell us if Hydreigon gets confused and the second number will say if it misses. I rolled a 7 and 2 meaning the attack does not cause confusion, but it does hit Hydreigon.)

Amelia's Hydreigon boastfully roared once again as the bat Pokemon flew, shrieking in pain, to a higher altitude after Royal's attack had connected right where they had planned, creating more distance between them once again. Just what would they have up their sleeves this time around? He had -somewhat- proven himself to be an intriguing opponent, not that she'd go out of her way to tell him that of course.
Although hearing loud and clear the eye-patched man's chiding words, the woman didn't bat an eye and ignored his taunt, choosing to focus more on the task at hand than to even bother with a reply. What came seconds after a flap of Noivern's wings was huge gusts of wind gathering which quickly took the shape of a swirling vortex of wind. "Climb the eye and use Crunch." The woman spoke as she fixed her glasses up right. Having complete faith in his trainer's order, the three headed dragon confidently flapped its six wings at high speeds to fly towards the hurricane until he finally reached the center of the storm, Royal then shot up in the eye of the storm, taking hits from the walls of wind surrounding him as he went along his ascent. Once he reached the same altitude as his dragon foe, the brutal Pokemon clamped down hard with all of his mouthes; the main head on Noivern's neck and the other two on Noivern wings, dragging his adversary in with him and refused to loosen his grip for even an inch.

((Since Crunch has 100% accuracy and has a 20% chance of lowering my opponent's defense, I roll 1 10-sided dice. I must either get a 1 or 2 for the stat lowering to take effect, therefore the status lowering was successful.))

The attack was successful, Hurricane had managed to hit its mark, but Amelia was not intimidated and ordered her pokemon to enter the vortex; she was clever. The 'eye of the tornado' was said to be a safe place inside a tornado. Any normal person attempting to enter the eye would surely get sliced by the air currents, but not a pokemon. Of course that didn't mean the pokemon would be completely unharmed. Hydreigon still had to deal with the strong air currents hurting him; having six wings really helped the dark dragon move easier. Noivern couldn't see completely through his own attack only the shadow of Hydreigon as he ascended towards him.
When his opponent finally emerged, he bared his fangs and shot at him. Noivern cried out in pain when Hydreigon's three mouths bit him. The places they decided to attack were points of weakness for Albert's dragon; the neck and his wings. The sight was quite painfully so Albert had to act quickly otherwise his dragon would continue to suffer. "Shake him off, Noivern! And then use Air Slash!" Albert briefly noticed that the attack had lowered his pokemon's Defense meaning physical attacks would hurt much more now.
Since Hydreigon was hanging -biting- onto him tightly, Noivern flew down towards the ground and in his descend he spun his body around until Hydreigon was flung away from him. Not wasting any time, Noivern gathered energy on his wings once more and flapped them releasing multiple blades of air. The disc-like energy blades followed after Hydreigon.

The injured Noivern's agonizing screams resonating in the stadium sated Amelia's Hydreigon as his chompers sunk deeper into his unfortunate target's flesh, but the feeling was short lived; it didn't take long for the dual-type flying/dragon to make his next move. Obeying his trainer's instruction, the sound wave Pokemon went on a downward spiral in an attempt to shake the vicious biter off of him. "Release him." Royal let go upon command, but not before being flung away by his foe sending him down. A skilled coordination of flaps from his six wings was all it took to stabilize his flight anew. However he had no time to catch a break; Albert's Noivern rapidly retaliated by attacking Hydreigon with a second helping of disc-like energy blades tinted in a blueish hue.
The blades were coming in quick, but not quick enough for the three headed Pokemon to make out a safe path to navigate through."Use Dragon Rush and head straight to the Noivern." The Hydreigon began radiating with pure energy which soon took shape of a dragon, covering his whole body. Like the first time Royal danced by the blades, but this time the speedy dual dark-dragon type Pokemon had the glow from his Dragon Rush attack to complement the shade of blue emitting from the air blades bypassing him which created a more appealing look as the energies clashed with each other upon contact. Not to mention that he was successful with his evasions as he took no damage along the way. Honing in on Noivern at high velocity as he neared the bat, he charged at him at full force.

((Dragon Rush has a 75%(rounded to 70%) accuracy rate and a 20% chance to flinch, meaning that I must roll 2 10 sided dice, the first one for the flinch and the second one to see if the attack makes contact. The flinch was not successful due to the fact that I rolled a 4 when I needed a 1 or a 2. The attack did hit though as I rolled a 2 when I needed a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 for it to connect.))

Ready for a Pokemon Battle?

Albert frowned and groaned, Noivern's Air Slash missed. Hydreigon flew by the disc-blades dodging everyone of them. That last attack must have messed with Noivern more than he thought. The blue energy in the shape of a dragon was quite an intimidating sight, but beautiful at the same time. Noivern braced himself for the impact knowing that he could not dodge from this proximity. He was smacked with the full force of the attack and he was send crashing down to the ground. Dust rose up from the ground upon his impact creating a brown cloud obscuring everyone's sight. Albert gripped his hands into fists, the sight of his pokemon going down like that was not pleasant. He briefly glanced at his opponent, Amelia, she was a much tougher opponent than he expected. Standing her ground with that stoic, calculative expression on her face, her confident attitude, no woman had ever made him feel this way before.
"Noivern! Get up, we can't go down like this," from the cloud of dusts, Noivern shot up into the air. His wounds were quite visible and anyone could tell the dragon was quite tired from the slow flap of his wings. However, he glared at his opponent with a strong determination to continue even if for just one final attack.
Albert took a deep breath, he had been saving this move -his ace in the hole- due to the drawbacks that it provided. The power of this next move was devastating; the strongest dragon-type a dragon pokemon could learn. "Noivern use Draco Meteor!" a sphere of light-orange energy was forming inside Noivern's mouth. Once charged, he shot the sphere into the sky where it exploded releasing several light-orange balls of energy that rained down on the battleground.
(Draco Meteor has 90% accuracy meaning we roll 1 ten-sided dice to determine if the attack connect. Also notice that Noivern's defense was lowered by Crunch making Dragon Rush cause more damage than usual. This was included in the post to demonstrate that when a stat is lowered then you should properly RP the effects on your turn. The dice roll gave me number 8 meaning the attack does connect.
This was my fifth post meaning the battle may end after this post since 5 posts is the minimum required posts to complete a battle. Kaos's last post was her fifth post as well meaning and I am finished with my fifth post then a winner must be decided. This next portion will be decided by the Crew members who will post who the winner of the battle is and depending on that decision then winner will post their victor post.)

In this battle, Amelia is declared the winner due thanks to Royal's Crunch move that lower Noivern's defense making Dragon Rush do more damage as well as the luck of the roll that Air Slash missed.
