A New Friend

Jerami was sitting on the floor of his room, surrounded by various projects that he was working on. The main piece was sitting on his lap and he was slowly working on adding some embroidering to add some extra flare to the piece. It was a long, flowing skirt, one that had him smiling a bit as he smoothed a hand over it. It was looking good already but the flowers that he was adding to it was making it look that much better, to the point that he couldn't but to grin, "This is looking good!" He was looking forward to showing it off to Drexl, a thought that had his cheeks coloring a bit.

"Ah! No, I need to concentrate!" He told himself, something that had was a bit difficult to do when all he really wanted to do was model the outfit for Drexl. Once it was all finished, perhaps? He turned his head to one side, spotting Bruin who was starring at him, and he gave a little laugh, "What? I want to look nice for him is all. Once I get this all finished up we should go and visit." They weren't allowed to leave town anymore but at least they lived in the same place as Drexl and his family? It meant that they could at least still see one another despite the threat of the things called 'Dretch'.

His attention went back to his work. After a time he found himself once more giving pause, this time because of a strange chirping sound that sounded through the room. He glanced around for a moment, trying to find the source, before he looked over at Bruin, "That wasn't you, was it?" A question that was answered with just a stare from the brown bird. It was something that made him a little give a little chuckle. Giving a nod of his head he turned back to what he was doing and said, "Yeah, yeah... that sound was far too cute for it to have been you, I know."

It was a sound he'd heard before but it had always been at a distance. He'd never really heard it so close to home before which made him wonder where it was coming from. Some sort of bird or insect, maybe? He was once more working on his project when he heard the sound again, oddly closer this time. He lifted his aqua gaze once more, glancing around, before he spotted something that drew his full attention. It was... something glowing nearby. He slowly stood up, clutching his skirt in his hands, not sure what to expect as he approached the light that was sitting on his desk. The moment he got close the small, incredibly brightly colored creature gave another of those adorable chirps.

"Ah! It was you?" He asked, taking a couple steps closer, and reached out to give the little beast a scratch under the chin. In response the little lizard gave another chirp at him, starring up at him with four blue eyes, before it then set to crawling up his outstretched arm. It was something caused Jerami to give a squeak of surprise. He watched as the green creature made its way up his arm and onto his shoulder where it made itself comfortable. It was something that made Jerami give a little giggle while Bruin puffed up and gave a rather displeased sound, obviously not liking the idea of sharing Jerami with some glowing interloper.

Turning to look over at the big bird he lifted his free hand up, "Easy now, Bruin. There is no reason why we shouldn't make friends with our cute little buddy here." The little thing was so cute! The way that it chirped, the way that it was able to glow, it's bright colors, he wanted to hug the little thing as much as he wanted to go and show it off to his siblings and friends. He did neither though, not straight away. Instead he moved to sit back down where he'd been when the chirping first popped up and started in on putting more carefully embroidered flowers onto the skirt.

"I can feel you starring, Bruin. I promise that it's alright and that he is going to start anything. He seems like a nice critter that is just stopping by to say hello. I doubt he wants to deal with the Dretch either." Were the Dretch the sorts to catch and kill small, cute animals too? Given that they were stealing away people he wouldn't put it passed them. They were likely a dangerous group that wanted to pick off any one that was weaker then they were. That was how he felt about it at least. A thought that made him given a little huffing sound before he continued his work.

"We have to all work together to stand strong against the Dretch. We can't let them pick on any of us, we have to be ready to be team players." A sentiment that had Bruin flapping his wings in an annoyed manner. It was obvious that he wasn't having any of what Jerami was proposing. The pretty boy was the one that had raised Bruin and therefore he liked him well enough but anyone or anything else, they didn't get the same consideration. If anything he was a really selfish, jealous sort. He didn't much care for Drexl for the same reason that he didn't care for the little glowing lizard that was hanging out with Jerami.

Giving a low sound in his throat the bird walked over to him, fluffing up, leaning into his side. It was something that caused him to give a little laugh before he lifted a hand to pet his fluffed up feathers, "See? Making new friends isn't so bad now is it? It's what we need to focus on, alright?" After giving both the bird and the lizard each a bit of petting he turned his attention back to his skirt, "Now that that's all settled how about I get this skirt done so I can show it off along with our new glowing friend?"

In a time where everything seemed to be scary and dangerous, with a threat looming at all times, meeting with the little lizard was actually a really nice change of pace. It was nice to be able to make a new friend, one that seemed to be friendly and adorable, there was so many nice things about the creature's appearance. He couldn't wait to show him off to his sisters, sure that they would like such a strange creature. The fact that it was able to glow in the manner that it was glowing made him like the beast that much more. He was like a fallen star or a living candle. It really made him want to figure out what the little creature was called because he didn't recall ever seeing one of them before. They had to be something new, huh?

"I'm glad that you came, little guy. Don't worry, I will figure out a nice name for you once I get this skirt finished." He said to the little beast in a reassuring manner. With the glow the beast was given off he'd be able to continue on for a while without lighting a candle, a definite bonus that came along with having the lizard as a friend.

Growth Solo: Care for the Unkind

(( A simple walk to check out some baby radaku was made more complicated when Jerami runs into a very unhappy radaku momma and an Alkidike that she bit. Despite him not being the bravest person around he does his best to fend of the radaku and heal the woman, even if she isn't interested in his help. Even if she's no fan of his he's willing to tend to her wounds since that is what he's always wanted to use his powers for, to help others. ))

Jerami had left early, with staff in hand, heading toward what he thought would be quite an interesting sight to behold. He'd been told that there was a mother radaku out there that had pups! She was a feral one though so it was a sight that he was only planning on observing for a distance. He thought that it would be nice to see the momma with her little babies and he was so curious as to how many babies she'd had. Not to mention what they looked like, how old they were, and if they were as wild as their mother was. If he had to guess he'd say that they would end up that way if they were raised by a wild mother. As such this might be his only chance to get a glance at the pups before they vanished into the depths of Jauhar's jungles.

He wondered if there was a chance that maybe he could tame one of the little ones? It wouldn't be easy by any means. He'd had trouble just dealing with little sitara that got into his room and he had to try to chase them off. His chances of taming a radaku pup were likely less then dealing with a sitara so he wasn't about to hold his breath as far as that went.

Speaking of sitara he turned to look at the brightly colored creature that was perched on his shoulder, "You should have stayed home." He told the little beast. He'd tried to leave him behind but it seemed every time he set him down the creature would end up climbing up another part of him, his clothing, or his weapon. One time the little critter had even ended up tangled in his long, wavy tresses of hair. It was just easier to bring him along then it was to try to leave him behind. Especially knowing there was the risk that Narcys might have tried to follow him, something that would have ended up with the sitara lost, stolen, or eaten. Best to keep him close instead and do his best to keep him far from the radaku he was going to get a look at.

As he got closer to where he'd heard that the beasts were living he heard a scream that was most definitely not that of a radaku. It sounded more akin to... what? A large bird? No, that couldn't be it. There weren't a lot of large birds in Jauhar save for those that were the pets of others. Was it someone's pet? Was it in trouble? Or was it possibly something else that was far worse then that? Wait... what if it wasn't a bird's voice at all but instead that of a person that was screaming? Jerami wasn't really a brave person, he left that to Drexl and Lixes, and he helped where he could from the sidelines... but if it was an Earthling that was screaming then surely he had to do something, right?

Swallowing hard he set to rushing forward, giving a whistle that would signal Bruin that he was on the move. Between the whistle and the way that he was rushing off had the big kinfa chasing along after him. Jerami had to find the source of the screams he'd heard and in turn the bird had to keep Jerami safe, Jerami was the one that raised him since he was a fluff ball after all and it had caused him to be quite loyal to the white haired man.

Jerami hurried along, realizing as he ran that he was heading right toward where the radaku were supposed to be located. What was going on? Had someone come up with the same idea that he had? Had someone else gone after the radaku but with worse intentions then just wanting to see them or possibly tame one of them? It was hard to say before getting there, he was just making assumptions, and that wasn't any way to make friends or to help those that might need it. He couldn't help but to run through various scenarios though, to worry, and as he came upon the scene he couldn't help but to give a squeak of surprise as it wasn't exactly what he was expecting.

Sitting there on the ground before him wasn't an Earthling, not even a mixed blood, it was a very pale Alkidike woman with a nasty looking bite wound on her calf. It looked as though something had sunk its teeth in before giving the leg a violent shake. There was a lot of blood running down the leg, puddling on the ground, and looked as though it needed to be patched up straight away. The problem being that the radaku mother was still nearby, teeth barred, snarling at the woman that she'd obviously savaged. Not a good sign but he was instantly stepping in between the two woman holding a hand out toward the Alkidike woman, and his other toward the radaku, "Back, back... you already shed blood, Momma... you don't want anymore. Go back to your pups."

The radaku took a step forward, growling again, before she paused at the sound of a twig snapping. Jerami, the Alkidike, and the radaku all turned to look over and up, glancing toward the big kinfa that was perched in the branches, watching them. It was enough the cause the radaku to back down, less for her own sake and more for that of her pups. The kinfa was easily big enough to snatch up and eat the pups, which was more then enough of a reason for her to leave him and rush toward the den where the pups were waiting for her. Once the stand off was over Bruin seemed to fluff up, looking pleased with himself, and that allowed Jerami to turn back to the woman that he was standing in front of.

"Are you... no, no... you're not really alright, are you? That has to hurt. What happened? Did you stumble across her?" He asked as he knelt down, looking the wound over, and instantly set to digging in his pack for his water skin. He used it to rinse out the debris from the bloody wound, wanting to make sure it was clean, before he then set to casting a healing spell. It wasn't his specialty per say but it was something that he was pretty good at, he wanted to be able to help others after all and helping included healing others in the way he was going to heal this woman.

Giving a smile as he worked he said, "It will be alright. I just need to get it knitted together so that the bleeding stops. After that we can wrap it up for you and get you back to town. You don't have to worry, there are much more powerful healers back in Andile that will be able to fix you up the rest of the way." While he'd love to be able to take care of everything for her he knew his magic wasn't on par with those in town that could really help her and likely in less time as well.

"Alright, I think..." He trailed off as he got knocked over, a squeak escaping from his lips as he landed on his backside. Looking up at the person in a confused manner he starred up at her, "Huh?"

"Look, girl. I let you help me because I needed the help, we aren't friends." The woman said, mistaking Jerami for a girl as she pushed passed him. Jerami turned, watching her as she set to walking toward Andile, limping slightly as she went. It was obvious that despite her words and desire to put distance between the two of them that she was actually listening to him. She was going to Andile, likely to seek someone out from her own people to help her.

She was one of those that refused to really acknowledge those like him, at least in a friends manner, but at least she hadn't smacked away his hands when he was healing her? He didn't mind dealing with her being harsh if it meant saving her life. A thank you would have nice but it was selfish of him to really expect and demand it from such an arrogant and traditional sort. Especially given that he'd followed a path that wasn't that of Aisha. A shame, he wanted to know exactly what had happened between the woman and the momma radaku. He supposed that it wasn't really his business... but he was hoping that she didn't come back later to pick another fight with the momma since he might not be here to help either of them later.

Brushing the dirt off of himself he found himself in debate for a moment. He really wanted to check on the momma, as well as the babies, to see them, make sure they were alright. At the same time he should instead watch after her, to make sure she made it instead of running into something else angry or dangerous. Even if the woman wanted nothing to do with him, even if it was in complete silence with him trailing behind her, then he'd see her back to Andile. After all of that was done then he'd return to check on the radaku.
