Huey noticed this, and appreciated it, and after taking his key, he picked Cloud up and placed him into his arms; no use in having him run around everywhere with him. Huey slipped his key into his pocket, deciding to get his team squared away for the night before he even stepped foot inside the room, and went about his usual routine of grabbing food for Staraptor first.

Despite their long journey, Staraptor seemed almost hesitant to eat. Huey noticed this after setting both bowls, one with food and the other with water, in front of her. Was she just not hungry? Or was there some other, serious issue going on? Huey frowned as he contemplated the reasons, but stopped when he felt a pair of eyes on him. He tilted his head to the side, and even frowned, before he turned his head to look at Staraptor, who stared at him expectantly. It took him a few seconds to understand what was going on. “...I’m fine, really,” he insisted softly. She didn’t seem convinced. Huey rubbed the back of his head, “I’m sorry if I worried you, but I promise that I’m better now. I just need to eat and then go to sleep; something you ought to do as well.” Staraptor consented to this, but only after spending a few moments longer staring at the boy, and then began to eat. It seemed that Staraptor wasn’t the only one worried about him, as Huey had the same issue with Beep as he’d had with her earlier on. “Beep, you need to eat your food,” he reminded the mega-evolution, in between bites of his macaroni; he really missed that cafe’s food. Beep shuffled in place, ignoring his food, but then moved forward to wrap his trainer in a tight hug. It took him by surprise, but Huey did manage to hug him back. They stayed like that, for several seconds, before Beep eventually broke off and went back to eating, oblivious to the several pairs of eyes that followed him back. Huey, while moved, couldn’t help but to feel bad. He’d really worried his pokemon, or at least those that’d witnessed his little episode.

Thankfully, the rest of the night passed without incident, and Huey was able to finish his dinner in peace. Once he was done in the cafeteria, and the last of his pokemon had consumed their fill, he trudged up to his room and slipped off his bag and out of his shoes. A shower was next and then, finally, bed. He slept soundly, and in the morning he and his pokemon ate their breakfast. An egg was located soon after, and then they were off.

✵Wynter was- bored... Who knew this traveling thing was so... travel-y. She was very much used to traveling through snow, and digging about to try and climb cliffs and snow-swept slopes. But this was just... there was no action to it, no struggle or effort; just left, right, left, right... maybe two lef-- Wynter let out a squeak as she stumbled forward a couple of steps, quickly correcting herself to act like it never happened. The young Trainer took a moment after her perfectly graceful prance into Aquacorde Town. Nobody saw that. Score! Wynter put on a happy grin as she fixed her shirt, hoodie and skirt before moving along into the Town itself... Her eyes lit up when she came in, scanning around- things were so crazy different in Kalos! Snowpoint, the roofs were different, architecture was made for snow all year, and even the streets had a unique design, but here?! It was so crazy, and those bikes!
✵Wynter's eyes followed a couple of cyclists as they past, one waving- which prompted Wynter to awkwardly wave back. She let out a light giggle as her eyes flowed around the small town, taking note of the people, the locations, the Pokemon! She'd seen so many different types, and she hadn't even started her training yet! It felt like Kalos had limitless potential, and Wynter couldn't wait to take advantage. Sadly, she had a mission first, and that took priority over personal pleasures... Though, it was fun to think of all the things she wanted to do, and learn around this new region, and all the others! Alolah probably had a lot to teach.. might be too hot to think, though!

✵Wynter would halt at the sight of something... adorable. A small orange and red primate was skirting around the crowds- doing small dances, and getting food for it... It was too cute. With a giggle, Wynter turned to walk towards the little Pansear- so much for a mission- the Pokemon looking to her with a happy call of it's own name. Wynter let out a small giggle as she lowered to one knee, quick to move her bag down a bit so she could pull out some dried fruit slices, offering one to the Pansear as she knelt there.
"Hey there, adorable guy! Hungry?"Wynter would offer in a kind, albeit excited, tone.
✵The Pansear cried it's name again in a blissful tone, rushing over the Wynter to quickly snatch the fruit and eat it cheerfully. The young trainer giggled again, taking out another fruit as the Pansear pranced around a moment, nibbling on the fruit slice as it saw another taken out. It cheered again happily, still chewing the other as it held out a paw for the second slice- which Wynter provided. The Pansear gobbled both down before hopping up expectantly dancing in place for a third slice... Only this time, Wynter dug through her bag and found... That was her last snack. At least she knew she'd have to buy something to eat on her travels- in case she got stuck pretty far away from the next location. That thought was interrupted by the Pansear howling at her, barking it's name in a seeming lecture, which Wynter innocently held up both hands with a soft laugh.
"Sorry, little guy! It looks like that was all I had... Want to come to the shop, and we can--"Wynter started off, the upset Pansear lunging forward, snatching one of the pokeballs off the side of her bag before it started running down the street.
"H-Hey!!!"She'd exclaim before taking off after the Pansear, a familiar feeling coming over her as she ducked and weaved her way skillfully past people on the street and sidewalks.

✵The Pansear leapt over small benches, a pokeball in it's mouth as it chirped it's name in defiance!! She was close, but not gaining much room just yet-- Why didn't you do more running at home?! Why does training involve this much running already?! Wynter hopped over small benches in pursuit, trying not to step on anything or hurt anyone on her way through... She spent a good time following the little Pansear through the park, then through the market... the Pansear sweating now from the pursuit-- and Wynter wasn't slowing down!! The Machine Trainer started to gain ground as she gained momentum, ducking past people and even spinning around another- dodging all near collisions! Why have I never done this before! Wynter shot over a bench- sliding a bit as she swiped for the Pansear, slapping it's hind leg on accident-- which caused the Pokemon to drop to all fours and book it for the forest. Wynter wasn't letting go, though- rushing after it as she lowered herself with a victorious grin on her face... she was still gaining.
"Just drop it, and I'll stop chasing you!"Wynter shouted as she rushed past a woman while chasing the Pansear.

Aquacorde Town had the same pleasing aesthetic as Vaniville had. It was weird how the masonry in Kalos seemed so friendly and welcoming, but the masonry back home was...devoid of anything. Oppressive. Erryn figured that was what happened in an oppressive society; everything felt and looked the same way."The Pokemon here and in the forest ahead have the same levels of strength, but you won't find Bunnelby in the forest. Should we train here?""Bunnelby?...Well, I guess if I do want to meet as many Pokemon as possible, then I should stay in as many places for as long as possible, right?"
Unfortunately the trees seemed to thin rather quickly as he moved from one area to another and Esben found himself quickly growing anxious as the only method of obscuring himself was in the fanciful styled buildings that rolled into view. He was fairly certain he was heading for a forest so what happened? There was certainly plenty of tall grass that he could sneak about in but it was slowly becoming tiresome trying to keep his team together and move about . A forest was easier to at least keep himself out of sight. Maybe he needed to find someone or something to serve as a distraction if worse came to worse? Hm...

'Now wasn't the time to slack off'. That was what Huey had told himself, as he prepared to leave Parfum Palace in with the intent on heading to Icirrus City. But, no sooner had they taken to the air did the young blonde have a change of heart, and gently nudged Belle to take a change in direction. It wasn't that he didn't want to continue training, and get his last two badges in the Unova region, he just suddenly... wasn't up for training? Or, well, that wasn't it. He wanted to train, he just didn't want to do it alone? Which was odd, considering, up until now he'd been fine with doing just that.
As they touched down in Aquacorde Huey made sure to give Belle a pat on the head, for putting up with his indecisiveness, before he returned her. "Huebert?" Maybe it was because, after hanging out with Adder, he'd remembered what it was like to actually be in the presence of another person, and someone around his age. "Hueeeebeert?" And, maybe, because of that, he wasn't willing to just go back to being on his own now. "Huebert!" A rough prod of his cheek snapped Huey back into attention, and he blinked as he looked down at Cloud, who rested in his arms with a curious expression. "Oh. I'm sorry, Cloud." He offered his pokemon a sheepish smile. "Did you need something?" Cloud stared up at his trainer, eyes wide but knowing. He might not have been the most vigilant pokemon around, but he could tell whenever his boy was getting upset. Luckily for them, he also knew how to cheer him up! "Look-it that weird pokemon over there! It's only got one eye!" The Togepi proclaimed, then pointed out to the black, furry creature another boy, nearby, held.
"Oh." Although he knew staring was rude, as was pointing, Huey couldn't help but to look out at the pokemon Cloud had brought his attention to. He'd never actually seen anything like that before, and just like with the Klow Adder'd had, it piqued his interest; he didn't even need prompting from Cloud to get closer, though he knew the pokemon would have. "Uhm, hello there." Huey called out a greeting as he approached the young boy, noting how much younger he looked when he got closer. He was about Hannah's age. "Sorry to, uhm, bother you. I just wanted to know, what kind of pokemon is that?" He started to point at Flef, only to stop, remembering his manners, and instead indicated towards it with a nod of the head.

Esben and crew were heavy in thought; and by that, Esben was heavy in thought, while his pokemon stood about him wondering what their brave leader would do next. They’d come all this way and so far, they hadn’t had any nasty encounters. Duncan clearly hadn’t followed them out this way and that meant that his master plan had worked as intended.
Now where to go from here? Byr, Isi and Teeg watched the boy curiously, a fist curled over his mouth while he held a cooing Flef in his other arm. The little bundle of fluff noted the approach of other individuals, staring at the with intrigue before giving a very loud chirp that caused his trainer to jump.
"Oi!” The boy yelped, fumbling the fluff. It was in that moment he became aware of the other young man and immediately hopped back a step, eyes narrowing and going into a protective stance. The bears followed suit; Byr immediately throwing up his paws in fists and Isi… well Isi took up to hiding behind Byr. Only Teeg stayed in place, looking clearly confused by this reaction; instead studying the young blonde boy with interest, head tilting left and right as she did so.
"Who are you? Who sent ye?!' Esben immediately spouted, relaxing a few seconds later as he came to notice that it was someone … maybe a little around his age and not the dreaded form of Duncan. "Oh…," Well then. The young viking lad took a moment to appraise the other child; he looked older but also… weak (because that was absolutely something Esben could judge). He blinked and shifted his gaze to Flef at the inquiry, the little dark creature’s own single eye wide and staring at the newcomers with excitement, bursting out a few excited chirps of his own.
"Him? He’s a Flef!" Esben puffed his chest out and held the fluff ball above his head in a show of pride, earning more little chirps and clearly missing the point of the question. "Future warrior for meh clan!" He lowered him back to hold, staring at Huey and Cloud with suspicion still. In fact, he took a moment to stare at Cloud in particular; where Huey had manners, Esben clearly did not as he didn’t hesitate to raise a hand to poke and prod the egg pokemon. "Whazzat? An egg? What’chu doin’ with an egg?" The viking wasn’t familiar with that type of pokemon. It seemed equally as soft and weak. What was this nonsense. He eventually stopped poking, stepping back and eyeing the pair with a bit of a frown. "If you’re tryin’ to take him, you’ll have to fight me! You better not have any ideas cause I’ll win!" The boy threatened, raising a fist and shaking it. This might’ve been more intimidating if he wasn’t… shorter and younger looking. But that was how you threw them off and he’d show this boy one for if he tried anything funny!

Out of all the reactions Huey could have expected from approaching a stranger-child, having him and his pokemon raise up hands/paws in defense was not one of them. He took a step back of his own, an "I-I'm sorry!" flying out of his mouth, and prepared for... something. That something never came, thankfully, but confusion certainly did. "I'm Huey?" he answered slowly and relaxed himself warily, though paused at the boy's second question. "N-no one sent me." He.. This wasn't at all what he'd expected from this interaction. Cloud, as pleased as could be, and wiggled his feet back and forth before looking between the furry boy and his pokemon. Wow!
"A Flef?" He tipped his head to the side, only to resettle it when Esben held his 'Flef' high in the air, or as high as his arms could reach. "That's cool! I've never seen a pokemon like him before." He'd also never heard someone refer to a 'clan' before, but he understood that the boy had plans to make his pokemon strong, even with that active imagination of his. "Oh." Huey could only watch as Esben began poking Cloud, much to the pokemon's delight. "Stop! That tickles!" He wriggled gleefully in his trainer's arm, the light thrashing enough to loosen the blonde's hold and send him to the ground. He was good about landing on his feet, however, and did just that with a proud puff of the chest. "I'm not an egg! I'm a Cloud!" he announced. Huey shook his head, amused, and quickly corrected his pokemon, "He means his name is Cloud, he's a Togepi." Cloud nodded along, sagely, before toddling over to Esben's other pokemon, "hello there!"
Cloud was certainly comfortable around the new people, but that came to no surprise, Huey was... not. It took him a bit longer to warm up to strangers, in his defense, it was hard to warm up to the person who'd threatened you twice now. He rose his hands up slowly -- that was what his parents had taught him -- to dissuade any violence. "I don't steal other people's pokemon," he spoke, and rather firmly at that. "I just wanted to know what kind of pokemon he was... and where you got him from." Huey considered something before stretching his hand out to shake, like a professional, "I told you my name. What's yours?" Maybe if they exchanged pleasan... pleasantries, the other would be more willing to talk about his Flef.

Esben watched the other boy’s responses to his threats, the briefest amount of surprise managing to cross his features. Wow, this boy really was on the weak side. He quickly stuttered and back down from Esben and his threats, despite the semi-clear slight advantage he had over him, physically anyways. Quickly the surprise was replaced with smug pride, chest puffing out proudly. Well of course he’d be afraid! Esben was a proud and tough warrior! This was exactly the response someone of his caliber deserved! HA!
"A Huey…?" That wasn’t a name he’d quite heard before and it sounded equally soft, just like the boy. At this point, the viking lad determined that Huey was no fighter and probably like… a gather or something. They had a few of those in his clan; places for those who just couldn’t bear the elements of battle. It was respectable work; but not warrior work.
"Yeh… I guess!" He’d never actually seen anything like Flef before either from where he was from, but that wasn’t any of the blonde’s business. His focus stayed on Cloud as he wiggled and squirmed, dropping to the ground and proudly announcing his name and heritage. It was good that Huey cleared it up too because the egg was definitely not a cloud. Far from it. "Ooohh! A mind talker!" the lad blurted, grinning widely at Cloud. "I had elders with pokemon like you! They helped us when it came to the dragons and stuff!" Boy was that a blow back! But that certainly put Huey in a new perspective; it took a lot of talent (at least where he came from) to work with a pokemon that spoke to your mind. Maybe he wasn’t that soft at all? But he was still pretty soft.
"Well… good!" Esben huffed his chest out a little more before turning his hip to the side to flash the handle of his axe at Huey. "’Cause I’d chop you down like a tree if you did!" With a curt nod to this fact he corrected his posture, blinking and staring wide eyed as Huey questioned where he got Flef. "Teeg found’em!" He announced. The Turtwig toddled forward a little, sniffing at the Togepi now at eye level before perking up at the sound of her name. "She found’em in a bush! I don’t know where comes from though." The Danshen chirped and wiggled, dropping down from the boy’s arms to get a better look at Cloud. Esben frowned, arms folding over his chest as he eyed Huey once more."Where’d you find a … toga… pee?" He squinted a bit more at the last question, arms unfolding and a fist hitting against his chest.
"My name is Esben! Mighty warrior of my clan!" He dropped his fist to point at Huey, "Where’s your clan?"

While Huey took notice of younger boy's smug attitude, as it was impossible to miss, and it didn't take a genius to figure out just what he was so smug about, he didn't desire to comment on it; there wasn't much for him to defend. He'd thought he'd been about to be hit, so he'd... reacted. "Mhm. My real name's Hugo, but everyone just calls me Huey, or.. Huebert, if you're Cloud." The Togepi puffed out in his own sense of pride, at the mention of his, 100 percent original, nickname. He'd come up with a name for the furry boy too! As soon as he knew it.
"A mind talker?" Cloud repeated the title, his eyes immediately growing starry; he liked that! "I help out with stuff too!" he proclaimed. "I think I've fought some dragons, and other pokemon too! Lots of them! And I've never lost either!" Huey found himself smiling as he observed the two interact. He seemed to be a good kid, even if he had threatened him, he seemed to like pokemon -- or Cloud, at least -- and that said a lot about a person. Of course, no sooner had the blonde come to this conclusion was he shown an axe. Huey's eyes widened and his mouth formed a small 'o' as he looked at the bladed weapon. "Is that real?" he asked, and took special care not to lean in close to get a better look at it. Not that it was real, because no parent would let their child run around with an actual weapon. Right?
"Oh, she did?" Huey looked down at the boy's Turtwig, who Cloud was cheerfully patting on the nose... before trying to reach for the leaf atop of her head. "Well that's cool! Have you had him for a long time?" Meanwhile Cloud, upon being joined by Flef himself, gasped before toddling over to him and patting him repeatedly, "So soft..." Huey, doing his best not to be distracted by his pokemon and his antics, frowned gently as he tried to remember where he'd gotten him. It'd felt like forever ago... "Oh! My brother gave him to me. He's a breeder!" he answered enthusiastically, clearly quite proud of his brother's occupation. "That's what I want to be when I grow up too."
He blinked, confused at the wording of the question. "It's nice to meet you, Esben," he started slowly, trying to give himself more time to understand what had been asked of him. His clan... did he mean his family? "My dad and siblings are back home, in Goldenrod City. I don't know where my mom is, she's still adventuring." Huey rocked on his heels afterwards, trying to think of what else he could possibly say to continue the impromptu conversation he'd started. "Are you just starting your journey here?"
