Contest Leader Andrew Contest: Tough Location: Aquacorde Town Personality: As the man who lead the initiative to form Kalos' participation in Contests, recruited many of the leaders, and helped reach out to the national Contest Committee, Andrew is remarkably passionate about contests. He gets excited at the mere mention of them, and will try and get any trainer involved, which is probably why he set himself up so close to the starting area, where new trainers are abound. If anyone even agrees to try a contest after talking to them, he's liable to give them a hug-- he really wants this to become a thing in Kalos. His sister is already trying to do the same in another region. Pokemon: Umbreon Curse ♥♥♥ Causes the user to move later on the next turn; Moves the user back in the order by one Snarl ♥♥♥♥ Makes the audience quickly grow bored when an appeal move has little effect; Moves that do +2 appeal or less fail to excite the audience Dig ♥♥ Prevents the user from being startled one time this turn Take Down ♥♥♥♥♥♥ A very appealing move, but after using this move, the user is more easily startled; If the pokemon is startled during this or the next turn, it takes -6 appeal Battle Pokemon
-3 rp posts are required, then roll a 6-sided dice. This will determine the Pokemon that appears. In the next post, roll a 4-sided dice to determine level of the wild Pokemon.
Aquacord was much larger then the small hamlet she'd just left. Their Pokemon Center wasn't much bigger, but it was more or less proper compared to Vaniville's. The Nurse did what she could to help Avikna, but if she was to get any better she'd have to get to Santalune City. A bit of sleep would help for the time being though, and with that the red-head got a secluded place to rest, quickly falling asleep almost as soon as her head hit the pillow. Worried over her newfound trainer, the human she'd saved the life of, the Dratini, Astrid was quickly turning into a bundle of worry. "You're her Pokemon right? Why don't you head across the bridge and on the outskirts of the Santalune Forest there are some herbs I could use in some tea." The nurse instructed. Astrid leaped at the idea, quickly retreating, finding Zelda lazily and reluctantly following behind the dragon. Celsius on the other hand stayed close to Avikna, resting down by her side with his cloth under her head like a soft pillow, he didn't mind that much since Avikna seemed to be a pretty calm sleeper... but then.... the nightmares set in.
The empty void usually filled by Mave was being invaded by false memories and subconscious fears. Her mind was playing tricks on itself, trying to fill in the missing pieces by means of filling in the center of the puzzle rather than working with the edges. Whatever the case, it was torturing Avikna to no end, it didn't help that the fever was feeding the nightmare fuel.
In the meantime, Astrid and Zelda had made their way to the edge of the Santalune forest, with little obstruction. Unsure what sort of herbs she was meant to grab the snake-like dragon picked all she could see, though when she came across an oddly skinny mushroom, the urge to eat it was just to great. A mild blink and she burped up what appeared to be a small shard of a crystal... it quickly burst and dissipated, leaving no trace of the strange phenomenon. Ignoring it, Astrid and Zelda headed back to the Pokemon Center with their haul.

After Astrid and Zelda returned, the Nurse took what they needed and quickly started to brew up some tea in the midst of taking care of other trainers who came in wishing for the Pokemon to be healed. In the meantime, the two headed back to where Avikna was resting. Astrid was left with a rather wide variety to items, including three Big Mushrooms and a plethora of Sitrus berries. Dumping the Sitrus berries into Avikna's bag, the red-head motioned for them to each take one of the Big Mushrooms. It was quiet a happy coincidence that they'd found three, so it was fair to split them all up evenly. Celsius found eating the strange fungus rather.... challenging, but in the end it's intended nutrients seeped into his blade as Astrid and Zelda finished theirs off.
Moments later the nurse returned with a cup of steamy Tea. With Astrid's help, Avikna was able to sit up straight and sip at the bland liquid. It was sort of tasty regardless. After a bit more rest she'd likely be right as rain when she woke up next.

It was nearly eighteen hours later before Avikna finally woke from her sickened slumber. She felt ten times better, if not bit sore. After sitting up, she could still feel the headache and emptiness in her mind, but it wasn't as prominent as it had been the other day. Her fever was gone as well, which was a good sign that the herbal tea really did it's job. Getting out of bed, she had to hold onto Celsius until she could properly balance herself. Once she could, she quickly asked to use the baths, and got in a quick washing before finally feeling ready to return to the world once more. That feeling of someone being harmed was still on her mind and she really wanted to go, hoping who ever it was was still fighting to be free and hadn't been captured.
Thanking the Nurse for their assistance, she took her leave, heading across the bridge that Astrid and Zelda had crossed the other day, this time to head into the forest rather than it's outskirts.

☆ ☆【Chrysa could barely wrap her head around what was happening right now. She hadn’t even been paying the least bit of attention to Amaterasu when she had started wandering off a bit, and now her Fennekin was looking absolutely sickly and she didn’t even know why. But telling from how Bastien’s Chespin was patting the Fennekin fiercely on the back, she could only imagine that the little fox had eaten something she wasn’t supposed to. Bastien reinforced this as he said that Ammy must’ve eaten something funky, which would explain why she was suddenly so sick when she had been fine just a minute ago. When they agreed upon heading to the Pokemon Center, Chrysa wasted no time in picking Ammy up from the walkway using the mechanical arm she had smartly installed on her wheelchair and started making for the nearest town of Aquacorde. As they started making their way towards the town, Chrysa blinked when she noticed Bass’s Chespin running way ahead of them, the green-haired boy calling out to his Pokemon and telling him to slow down. However, it seemed that Bita, as she supposed the Chespin was called, had other ideas as he veered right off the road to town and headed into the nearby grass. Bastien was forced to go after his Pokemon, not that Chrysa could blame him since he wouldn’t want to leave Bita behind, calling out that he would catch up with them and assuring that Ammy would be fine as long as she got medical help soon. ” Don’t take too long!” she called back to him, pushing on ahead towards Aquacorde. Ryouichi ran alongside her, keeping up rather well with her pacing despite his short stature. ” Just hang in there, girl… You’ll be right as rain soon enough…” Chrysa muttered, gently stroking the shivering form of Amaterasu with one hand while she operated the chair with the other. Piper gave a concerned chirp, gazing down worriedly at the sickly looking Fennekin as they came upon the outskirts of Aquacorde. It was quite a bit larger than Vaniville Town, to say the least, but Chrysa was more concerned about getting Ammy the required medical attention than sight-seeing at the moment. She frantically looked around for the familiar red roof of a Pokemon Center, her panic only rising when she couldn’t find one. Bastien had said there was a Pokemon Center around here, right? Then where could it be? As a tall, elderly looking gentleman came their way, Chrysa immediately held up a hand to get his attention. ” Excuse me, Monsieur?” she called out to him, trying to control the panic in her voice as he stopped and turned to face her.” Oui, mademoiselle? Can I help you with something?”he asked, his eyes roaming down to spot the shivering Fennekin in her lap. ” She needs help, where’s the Pokemon Center around here?” Chrysa inquired, alternating her gaze between the gentleman and the various buildings. The gentleman wasted no time as he pointed her over towards a small building that had a sign with a red cross hanging over the door. ” Merci!” she said quickly, nodding her thanks to the man as she immediately made her way over towards the building he had indicated. Bursting through the door, Chrysa was greeted by the sight of a young brunette at the counter, who seemed quite surprised by her sudden barging in. ” Demoiselle, please, my Fennekin needs help!” the redhead spouted out before the woman could open her mouth to ask what brought her in today. The girl took one look at the Fennekin in the handicapped girl’s lap, and immediately got to work as she gently lifted the little fox from Chrysa’s lap.” She seems rather pale… Wait here while I perform a checkup to make sure it’s nothing serious. I’ll take good care of her in the meantime, mademoiselle,”said the girl, directing Chrysa towards a nearby bench before she moved off into a room in the back with Amaterasu in tow. Sighing softly to herself, Chrysa slowly maneuvered her chair to settle into a spot against the wall next to the bench, returning Piper back into her Pokeball so that the Noivern wouldn’t have to deal with more strangers. Ryouichi glanced in the direction the young girl had taken away Amaterasu in, then back towards Chrysanthemum. Moving over towards her, he hopped into her lap and looked up at her, raising a little paw to gently pat her shoulder in an attempt to comfort her. ” It’ll be okay, Ryou, Ammy’s in good hands now,” she said softly with a smile as she gently pulled the frog closer to her, casting glances in the direction of the backroom in anticipation for the girl to come back out with the Fennekin’s diagnosis.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【Minutes ticked by as Chrysanthemum sat back in her chair in the small clinic’s waiting room, casting nervous glances towards the back room as she waited for the girl she had given Ammy to come back out with a verdict. She really hoped that it wasn’t anything serious… she didn’t want to end up losing the Fennekin when she had only gotten her just today! Ryouichi was thankfully providing her with some comfort while she patiently waited, the frog not seeming to mind that he was being cuddled like a stuffed Teddiursa for the time being. ” Dammit all… I should’ve kept my eye on her when she started wandering… maybe then this whole thing could’ve been avoided to begin with…” she thought to herself, regretting the fact that she hadn’t kept a closer eye on the Fennekin when she had. Ammy had looked so sick, so pale as she shivered even if it wasn’t cold outside… Chrysa felt guilty that if the Fennekin ended up dying in this clinic, it would be all her fault because she hadn’t been a more responsible parent/trainer. ” Ammy… I’m sorry…” she whispered softly as her gaze dropped to the floor. Ryouichi gave her a sympathetic look, unsure of what he could do to help comfort her aside from patting her on the shoulder in a ‘there, there’ manner and letting her cuddle him like a stuffed toy. ” Demoiselle?”came the voice of a certain feminine figure about five minutes later. Chrysa’s head snapped up immediately, her eyes wide with worry and hope as she eyed the brown-haired girl who had taken Amaterasu in. ” How is she? Will she be okay? Is it serious?” the redhead asked, firing off a million questions at the girl as she slowly wheeled her chair towards the nurse. The girl blinked slightly at Chrysa as the girl was pelting her with all sorts of questions regarding the health of her Fennekin, before giving her a smile.” At ease, demoiselle~ Your Fennekin is doing just fine, see?”the brunette responded with a chuckle, gently pushing the door to the backroom ajar a bit more. Sure enough, Amaterasu yipped happily as she bounced her way out through the door, looking healthy as ever as she looked up at her trainer with sparkling scarlet orbs. ” Ammy! Oh thank Arceus!” Chrysa cried out in relief, holding her arms out towards the Fennekin, ” C’mere ya sweet little lass~” Ryouichi snorted in annoyance as he was forced to move out of the way, just moments before Amaterasu leapt into Chrysa’s lap. The Froakie had rather been enjoying his nice little spot for the past few minutes, but simply shrugged as he took up his designated spot on the arm of the chair once again. The brunette smiled warmly as she watched the redhead petting her Fennekin and kissing the fox on the forehead.” Turns out it was a mild case of food poisoning, demoiselle. I was able to induce purging with a mixture of bitter herbs and found the culprit to be a mushroom of some sort,”she explained, holding out the remnants of the BalmMushroom that Amaterasu had eaten earlier before tossing them away in the nearby wastebin,” You really should be more careful to monitor what your Pokemon eat from now on, demoiselle, she could’ve very well been poisoned if she had eaten something she wasn’t supposed to.” Chrysanthemum nodded, remembering that Bastien had said that Ammy had likely eaten something funky, and those suspicions had been confirmed upon seeing the remnants of some sort of mushroom that had been purged from the Fennekin’s stomach. ” Yes, of course mademoiselle, I’ll keep a closer eye on her from now on,” she responded with a solemn nod, ” Merci, thank you very much for the help~” The brunette smiled amiably and nodded in return, watching as the redhead made her way to the door with her Pokemon in tow.” You’re very much welcome, demoiselle. You’re free to come back anytime if you are in need of my services again,”said the brown-haired girl, watching as Chrysanthemum exited the clinic before returning to her original post once more, in case anyone else came in looking for medical help.】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【Great relief washed over Chrysa as Amaterasu was given back to her, the Fennekin looking as perky and cheerful as ever when just minutes ago she had been pale, shuddering violently and groaning in discomfort. The nurse had said it was only a mild case of poisoning on account of some strange mushroom that Ammy had gotten ahold of, but had been able to get it out of the Fennekin’s system with some bitter medicine. Chrysa listened as the nurse gave her a gentle but stern warning to be more careful about what her Pokemon ate, because Ammy could’ve very well been badly poisoned or something by eating something she wasn’t supposed to. The redhead understood that she was the one at fault for not keep a close eye on her Pokemon when she should’ve, and made a promise to herself that she would monitor them more closely from now on. Amaterasu’s case of food poisoning had certainly taught her that lesson well enough. After thanking the kindly girl, whom she supposed was the owner of the little clinic, Chrysa and her Pokemon were well on their way back out into town. Do ya realize what could’ve happened if ya had gotten poisoned? Or ran into a dangerous wild Pokemon and got badly beaten?” The Fennekin’s eyes went wide as her trainer started lecturing her, though she supposed that she couldn’t blame Chrysa for being a bit cross with her after what had happened back there. Amaterasu’s ears flattened as she looked down in shame, feeling bad that she had worried her trainer so much by being careless.” I-I’m sorry… I won’t do it again, promise!”the Fennekin whimpered, her head hanging low and her tail flattened against Chrysa’s legs, looking for all the world like a kicked Lillipup as she gazed up sadly at her trainer. The redhead sighed softly, reaching out and gently scratching Ammy behind the ears. ” It’s okay… All is forgiven for now, alright? Just don’t go around eating random things off the ground again, just because it looks and smells good doesn’t mean that it’s always safe for you to eat it, okay?” Chrysa said with a warm smile, ” If you find something that looks edible or anything of the sort, bring it back to me first so we can confirm that it’s alright to eat. We wouldn’t want another case of food poisoning on our hands now, do we?” The Fennekin wagged her tail, glad that her trainer had forgiven her, and nodded rapidly in response to Chrysa’s proposal about bringing potentially edible finds back to make sure they were safe to eat first.” Yes m’am! No more food poisoning for me, that medicine was terrible!”the Fennekin exclaimed, glad to agree to Chrysanthemum’s suggestion. After that experience back there, Ammy wanted nothing more to do with having to take that bitter medicine again. However, the moment of reconciliation was interrupted moments later by a hissing noise coming from a small alley they had passed by. Chrysa was on alert immediately as she glanced over towards the source of the sound, seeing a lone Weedle hissing and jabbing the poison-laced horn on its head threateningly in their direction. Ammy instantly jumped out of Chrysa’s lap, growling her own challenge back at the Weedle that dared to threaten them.” Leave my trainer alone, conehead!”she snarled, the scarlet tufts in her ears bristling angrily as little snap claws popped out of her paws in preparation to battle. ” Get ‘em, Ammy!” Chrysa called out, certain that her Fennekin would win since she had the type advantage. The Weedle was faster, however, and wasted no time in charging at Amaterasu, ramming into the Fennekin with the poisonous barb on its head. Ammy yelped out in pain, staggering slightly as she took the hit. It had done damage, yes, but it was going to take a lot more than that to put her down. However, moments after the Weedle pulled its barb back, the Fennekin winced as she felt a slight wave of nausea come over her, similar to when she had gotten food poisoning from eating that strange mushroom and knew that she had gotten poisoned.” Ugh… you’re gonna have to try harder than that!”she growled as the poison in her veins started wearing her down, wasting no time as she opened her jaws wide and shot out a small blast of fire point-blank at the Weedle. Chrysa’s brow furrowed in worry when she saw that her Fennekin had been undoubtedly poisoned by the bug’s attack, thanking Arceus that the clinic was not that far away from where they were. The fire attack sent the Weedle reeling, but it wasn’t quite done yet as it launched itself back at the Fennekin and stuck her with its barb again. Ammy hissed in pain, but did her best to grin and bear it. At least she didn’t have to worry about getting poisoned again…” Eat this!”she yipped as she unleashed another small blast of flames, effectively knocking out the bug and leaving it with some nice char marks here and there. ” Good job, Ammy!” Chrysa cheered with a smile, giving an apologetic look towards the fainted Weedle, ” Sorry little guy… it had to be done.” An angry Weedle was certainly not something to mess around with, and Chrysanthemum quickly checked the immediate area just to make sure an angry swarm of Beedrill wasn’t coming at them for retribution of the fainted caterpillar-type Pokemon. Sighing in relief, Chrysa carefully bent forward as Ammy staggered over towards her, picking the Fennekin back up and placing her in her lap. ” Let’s get you back to the clinic so we can get that poison out of your system,” she said softly with a smile, chuckling softly as she noted the absolutely horrified look on Ammy’s face at the mention of the clinic, ” Oh don’t worry your little head off, there won’t be any bitter medicine this time~ An antidote will set you right again and that’ll be it!” Amaterasu seemed slightly relieved at that, but was still rather wary as they approached the door of the clinic once again. Opening it much slower than when she had practically slammed it open earlier, Chrysa’s chair gave another short puff of steam as she wheeled herself back into the building. The brunette who had taken care of Amaterasu before glanced up, an amused smile dancing across her lips as she recognized the handicapped girl with the strange wheelchair from earlier was in her clinic again.” Back again so soon, demoiselle?”she asked in a lightly joking tone,” I pray it is not another case of food poisoning, is it?”Chrysa chuckled at the girl’s comment, shaking her head in response. ” Nah, not this time, we had a run in with a wild Weedle and I think Ammy may have gotten poisoned, got any antidotes on ya?” she asked, holding out her Fennekin for the nurse to examine. The brunette gave a nod and an amiable smile, bending down underneath the counter. Even though she doubted they would be in Aquacorde Town for too long once Bastien made his way over, she was already feeling quite at home in this little clinic. Maybe… She pulled out the map of Kalos that she had been given and examined it, her eyes lighting up when she saw that the next destination was indeed Santalune City. ” Yeah, I suppose I am, I’m just waiting up for a friend in the meantime,” she responded with a wide smile as she tucked the map back in her handy compartment for easier access, ” He kinda got sidetracked by his unruly Chespin as we were leaving Vaniville, he should come along any minute now, I’m hoping. Ghosts or any other spiritual entities?” Ama gave her a strange look, but an amused smirk crossed the brunette nurse’s lips moments later as she shook her head.” Haunted? Yeesh, ya little buggers are everywhere around here, aren’t ya?” Chrysa remarked with a grin, seeing that Ammy was already on the case as she launched herself at the Weedle. She hoped that the Fennekin wouldn’t get poisoned again, as much as she really didn’t mind going back to the clinic she’d just left seconds ago to see Amarantha again. Thankfully, it seemed that this Weedle was a bit weaker than the last one they’d fought. Ammy easily outsped the slower Bug-type, and a burst of flames was all it took to overpower the larva-like Pokemon.” Haha! Another score for me! Ammy two, Weedles zero~”cheered the Fennekin as she hopped and bounced around joyfully on her paws as a form of victory dance. With a wide, dorky grin on her face, Amaterasu looked up towards Chrysa with sparkling scarlet eyes as if asking ‘I did good, right?’ Ryouichi chuckled softly to himself at the Fennekin’s antics from his perch on Chrysa’s chair. As childish and cloud-headed the little fox was, she was a pretty damn good fighter. ” Nice job, Ammy~ Maybe you can earn a promotion as the town’s personal Weedle exterminator, there seems to be quite an infestation here~” the redhead said with a chuckle, leaning back in her chair as Ammy once again made herself comfortable in her lap. No sooner than had the battle ended than did a red light suddenly shoot out from somewhere on Chrysa’s person, the beam hitting the ground in front of her as a pale white and light pink Sylveon materialized in front of her.” Here you are! You haven’t let me out ever since we got off the boat, Chrysa! I was starting to get worried about you! What have you been up to? You’ve been staying well away from danger, oui?”exclaimed Celeste, the Sylveon’s rosy pink eyes darting around the general vicinity to check for any dangers before fixating them on the redhead. Chrysa rolled her eyes slightly, she had figured that Celeste would’ve made one of her unexpected appearances sooner or later. The Sylveon was quite unlike any other, apart from her unusual coloring, but she was capable of speaking to the girl via what she referred to as ‘empathic telepathy’, or some other cockamamie title that she had likely made up herself. The gist of it was that Celeste was the only Pokemon on Chrysa’s team by far who could actually speak to people, as in actual communication with English words instead of what she referred to often as ‘Pokemonese’. ” Was wondering when ya were gonna pop up, Celeste~ Nothing dangerous has happened yet if that’s what you’re worried about, at least if you don’t count Ammy getting temporary food poisoning from a weird mushroom she ate earlier and the fact that we were attacked by two Weedles in a row,” she answered with a soft chuckle, nodding towards the Fennekin and Froakie whom were present, ” Celeste, I’d like ya to meet your new teammates~ This is Amaterasu, and that’s Ryouichi~” The Sylveon’s brow furrowed at Chrysanthemum’s mention of what had transpired recently, but said nothing more on the matter before she turned towards the Fennekin and Froakie and smiled warmly to them. ” Charmed to meet you, Amaterasu and Ryouichi~ Glad to have you with us on this humble little team of ours,”Celeste kindly greeted them, glancing between the two starter Pokemon. Amaterasu smiled, yipping happily as she wagged her tail in return.” Nice to meetcha, Celeste! We’re gonna be great friends from here on, I just know it~”Ammy chimed brightly, bouncing up and down cheerfully on her perch in Chrysa’s lap. Ryouichi glanced up and down the Sylveon, sizing her up first before giving a respectful nod in return.” Good to meet you as well, comrade,”he answered as he flashed her a small smile. Chrysa couldn’t help but grin widely, feeling glad that her Pokemon seemed to be making good impressions on each other so far. Of course, Ammy and Ryou had yet to meet Kyan, but she felt that it would be best to reserve that for a place that was a bit less… public. ” Well, hopefully Bastien will get here soon so we can train some more or move on to Santalune, hopefully he hasn’t been having a hard time catching that rowdy little rodent of his,” Chrysa suggested, glancing back towards the path leading towards Vaniville to see if Bastien was headed this way. She wasn’t going to move on without him, that was for certain, but she was wondering if she should go back and make sure he was okay.” Very well then, there’s no rush in it! So, who’s this Bastien fellow that we’re waiting on? Care to tell me?”inquired Celeste as she tilted her head curiously. ” He’s a friend, I suppose, I met him back in Sycamore’s lab and I’m guessing we’ve decided to travel together from there,” Chrysa explained with a smile and a chuckle, ” Needless to say, first impressions could’ve gone better… but he’s a nice guy from what I’ve gathered, he’s cool, funny, and quite energetic~ Trust me, you’ll know him when ya see him~” Celeste gave a warm smile at that, though she quirked a brow at the comment about first impressions.” First impressions could’ve gone better? What did you do…?”asked the Sylveon, already knowing that she wasn’t going to like the answer. ” I kinda… ran over his foot,” Chrysa admitted with a sheepish expression. She still felt bad about running Bastien’s foot over with her heavy wheelchair, even though he didn’t seem too offended or angry at her for it.” CHRYSANTHEMUM!!”Celeste exclaimed in an exasperated tone,” You’re not even in Kalos for a day and already you’re making trouble! Unbelievable!!”Chrysa felt her face heat up with embarrassment, it was at times like this where she wished the Sylveon wouldn’t act so motherly towards her, especially in public. ” It was an accident! And I said I was sorry, twice!! He was pretty cool about it!” Chrysa insisted back, her face growing a deeper red with each passing second. It probably looked absolutely crazy to anyone who was walking by that a girl in a steampunk-styled wheelchair was arguing with a strangely colored Sylveon as if it were a normal, every day occurrence, Arceus dammit Celeste… She swore, having Celeste around was like having an adoptive mother at times. Who happened to be very overbearing and very French at the same time.】☆ ☆

There seemed to be no more trouble coming their way. Bastien healed up both Bita and the Scatterbug, whom he'd yet to have given a name. He was quite thankful that there was only one Scatterbug, yet they were still late due to what happened. He felt terrible for holding Chrysa up... That is, if she even decided to wait. "Hey, you seen a red-haired girl in a wheelchair anywhere?" Not that it was hard to spot her; the young man Bastien had questioned pointed just up ahead to Chrysa, near where the town's clinic was. "Ah, sweet. Thanks!" Jogging over, Bastien gave Chrysa her Pokemon a wave. "Yo! Sorry for the trouble!" It seemed as though she'd switched things up. Instead of her Noivern, a Sylveon standing there next to her. "Whaaa, a Sylveon?" His eyebrows curved upwards and he tilted his head, noting the Eeveelution's unique features. Bastien wasn't fond of the color pink, but with a Jigglypuff on his team at the moment, that meant little. Plus, the Sylveon's otherwise-cute appearance kind of made up for it. Eyes moving away from the Sylveon, the young man noticed Ammy looking much better than before. "Oh, that's a relief, though! I'm glad Ammy's alright." It hit him then, but Chrysa seemed to have been talking to someone just a moment ago... There was no one nearby however. "Um, who were you talking to a second ago...?"
...No, that didn't matter so much. "N-nevermind. Up next is Santalune City, where the first gym in Kalos is." Pinching the bridge of his nose, Bastien remembered just how frustrating that previous encounter had been. If he and his team were going to stand a chance, they needed to do a little training. "The Gym Leader there specializes in Bug-type Pokemon. Her name's Viola," he stated, nodding to Chrysa with a smile. "That little incident back there made me realize that I've still got some work to do. Once we get to the outskirts of Santalune, I think I'm going to train and maybe catch one or two more Pokemon. I'd understand if you want to go on without me!" Looking apologetic, Bastien thought for a moment. He then snapped his fingers and pulled out his Holo Caster. "We should exchange contact info! That way if we ever get separated, we can just call each other. Don't worry, this totally isn't just an excuse to get your number, heh!" He chuckled, flashing an innocent grin. "My Holo Caster's... A little weird, but it still functions normally. We can call each other if one of us gets stuck in a bind, or something like that."

☆ ☆【Bastien sure was taking a long time to get here… Chrysa really hoped that he hadn’t run into trouble while he’d been wrangling up his unruly Chespin. Glancing back towards the way she had come, she was considering going back to look for him, to make sure that he was doing alright. She was thinking about heading back towards Vaniville to look for her lost comrade, when Celeste decided that now of all times was a great opportunity to make an appearance. Chrysa rolled her eyes slightly as the Sylveon started pelting her with questions and comments, Celeste hadn’t been let out for a long while after they had gotten off the boat back there. After updating Celeste on what had transpired since they’d left the ship, the talk soon devolved into bickering as the Sylveon scolded Chrysa for causing trouble when she hadn’t spent even a day yet in Kalos. The redhead quickly defended herself, insisting that she had apologized to Bastien for accidentally running his foot over and that he seemed generally cool with it. This was just embarrassing… she must look like she had escaped from an insane asylum or something because she looked like she was talking to no one in particular to anyone else who happened to be within proximity. Arceus dammit Celeste… why did these kinds of things always have to happen when they were in public? Amaterasu and Ryouichi looked confused, wondering if they should cut in and say something to try to draw Chrysa’s attention elsewhere. Thankfully, a welcome distraction was presented in the form of Bastien, who had finally caught up to them as he waved over towards them. ” Bastien!” Chrysa called out with a smile, taking a moment to clear some of the flushed appearance from her face before turning towards him. He apologized for the trouble, apparently having taken longer than expected to get to Aquacorde Town after he caught up with his Chespin. ” It’s alright~ I was keeping myself well preoccupied while I was waiting for ya, glad to see that ya seem to have Bita under control for now,” she commented, remembering how Bastien had run off in pursuit of the Chespin when it had strayed off the main path. She chuckled a little when he seemed surprised by the appearance of her Sylveon, his head tilted to one side as he curiously eyed the bright pink Fairy-type at her side. ” Yeah, this is my Sylveon, Celeste, she was a gift from my grandma before I left Hoenn for Kalos, like Piper,” she said with a small smile as she nodded towards the Sylveon, ” Celeste, this is Bastien~” The Sylveon’s eyes lit up as she eyed the green-haired young man, giving him a nod in greeting as she smiled warmly.” It’s quite a pleasure to meet you, Bastien~”she said brightly, tilting her head curiously as she examined the young man carefully. Chrysa smiled warmly when Bastien was relieved that Ammy was doing much better now, and nodded in return. ” Yup~ The nurse managed to get that weird mushroom she ate out of her system, and she’s healthy and fighting fit~” she said cheerfully, chuckling softly as Amaterasu’s face twisted into a rather exaggerated expression of disgust at the very idea of the bitter medicine she’d been forced to take. However, when Bastien asked who she had been talking to not too long ago, Chrysa immediately averted her gaze, a trace of a pink blush dusting her cheeks. So he had seen her ‘talking’ with Celeste, even though he obviously couldn’t hear the Sylveon. It was to be expected, however, they had been really drawing quite a bit of attention to themselves with all of their bickering… But for all intents and purposes, she figured it was the best choice to avoid answering the question. He probably wouldn’t believe her if she told him that her Sylveon had actually been talking to her. Thankfully, he quickly changed the subject as he told her about the Gym in Santalune City, where they were headed next once they left Aquacorde. A concerned look crossed her face when she noticed him pinching the bridge of his nose, as if he were annoyed or frustrated, but she listened on as he explained that Santalune’s Gym Leader, Viola, specialized in Bug-type Pokemon. ” Bug-types, huh? Interesting choice for a first Gym leader~” she remarked with a chuckle, nodding a thanks to him for the information. If Bug-types were Viola’s choice, Chrysa felt that she could easily wipe the floor with those bugs if she used Piper, but at the same time she felt that it would only be fair to let Amaterasu have a piece of the action too. Bastien went on to explain that the incident that happened back near Vaniville with Bita was a wake-up call for him that he had some work to do regarding his Pokemon team, and that he was going to maybe go train and catch some new Pokemon for himself once they reached the outskirts of Santalune. Chrysa gave him a small smile as he said that he wouldn’t blame her if she wanted to go on without him as he flashed her an apologetic look. ” Even though we’ve only just met, I’d gladly wait up for ya no matter what, Bass~” she said with a toothy grin and a nod, ” I understand that ya’d wanna take some time to train your team up, I’ll likely do some training with my own team as well before we go to take on Viola. Still, I’ll always wait up for ya no matter how far apart we are, Bass~” She felt that she didn’t want to leave Bass behind so soon, especially since their friendship was just starting to really blossom. But she could understand it if he didn’t want to feel like he was holding her up, she couldn’t blame him for that. ” Maybe ya’d be up for a friendly little sparring match sometime? That way we can help each other get stronger as well as help us point out any flaws in our battling strategies, or something along those lines,” Chrysa suggested with a light chuckle, ” Think of it as… a sorta friendly rivalry, like in a way that both of us can benefit from it, y’know?” Of course, she wouldn’t blame Bastien for refusing the offer, she had a fairly strong team already between Piper and Celeste. But Chrysa wasn’t the kind of trainer who would just throw her strongest Pokemon at someone who likely wouldn’t stand a chance against it right off the bat. She believed in a fair fight, and actually enjoyed a challenge when it presented itself. A curious look crossed her face when Bastien seemed to be in thought, before he snapped his fingers as if he’d just had an epiphany as he suggested that they exchange contact information. That way if they were to ever get separated from each other, they could keep in touch and be able to call each other. Chrysa grinned and laughed at Bastien’s comment that this wasn’t an absolute excuse for him to get her number as he gave an innocent smile. ” Hehe, sure~ Totally not an excuse to get my number, not at all~” she said with a chuckle, playing along for the sake of good humor, ” But sure! I’ll definitely keep in touch with ya if we get separated or end up parting ways somewhere along the line~ Would be a shame to leave so soon when we were only just getting to know each other, y’know?” She nodded as he explained that his Holo Caster was a bit weird, and she was tempting to ask how, but she kept listening as he said that it functioned normally otherwise and that they could call each other if either one of them got into a bad situation or something. ” Holo Caster? Heh, that sounds a lot cooler than my Xtransceiver!” she commented with a light laugh, pulling up her Xtransceiver and pressing a few buttons on it to bring up her contact info to send to Bastien, ” I hope they’re compatible with each other for data exchange, unless ya happen to know where I can maybe get a Holo Caster of my own~”】☆ ☆

"Hehe, oh yeah? Well that's good that you kept yourself busy." Bastien grinned and shrugged his shoulders, not as confident in his control over Bita as Chrysa seemed to be. "Somehow, I feel like he's the one that's got me on a leash." Problematic Pokemon seemed to have their fates entwined with the young man. Sawa was a quiet loner, Suite was an overconfident airhead, Bita had some sort of chip on his shoulder... It wouldn't have surprised Bastien in the slightest if the Scatterbug he'd caught developed split personalities, or something. "Ha, your Pokemon are so much nicer. You've got a great team already!" With Ammy better, Chrysa's team seemed to be in perfect form. He'd seen her Noivern, Sylveon, Froakie, and Fennekin... It made him wonder if the girl had any more Pokemon hidden away. "Bugs are tricky Pokemon, y'know! It's the ones that you think are the weakest that can turn around and surprise ya. Then again, your Pokemon aren't too shabby, either. Heck, I'd pay to see that fight!" Bastien was smiling as he spoke, but when Chrysa began to mention not having a problem with waiting for him, he felt a tinge of regret from his earlier choice of words. Even if he realized that he had a lot of training to do, Bastien hated being left behind. He hated being weak. Chrysa probably already knew that he was much weaker--
No... Chrysa was his friend. She wasn't poking fun at him. Quietly assuring himself, the young man realized that he may have looked a little upset for a moment. He shook it off, believing that Chrysa meant well.

With a confident smile, Bastien passed his Holo Caster from one hand to the other, his eyes meeting Chrysa's. "When we've both got our badges from Viola, we should spar. And no holding back, either!" Feeling a burst of energy once again, Bastien realized that they still had unfinished business. "Oh, that's right... I'm pretty sure they're compatible. If you want one of these silly things, though, there's a few stores in Lumiose that sell personalized ones! Personally I'm not too fond of my face popping up in a hologram every time I wanna talk to someone, buuuut..." A few high-tech beeps and jingles played as the process of registering Chrysa completed. "Gotcha! Did it go through for you?" Sliding the HC back into his pocket, Bastien smiled and rubbed his hands together, his tongue sticking out ever so slightly. He was getting fired up, now; he wasn't about to hold Chrysa back, or be seen as a weakling. "I hear Santalune Forest is a little tricky to navigate... I'm ready when you are, though!"

☆ ☆【Chrysa smiled and nodded at Bastien’s comment, who seemed glad that she had been keeping herself busy while she had been waiting for him. However, he didn’t seem to quite agree with her statement about having Bita under control for the time being, saying that it somehow felt that the Chespin was the one who had him on a leash. The redhead frowned a bit at this statement, nodding her head slowly in agreement, ” Yeah, he does seem to be quite the loose cannon. But who knows, maybe the both of ya will end up growing a healthy respect for each other at some point in our journey here! Sometimes dealing with problematic Pokemon is a way to push your boundaries in order prove yourself as a trainer to them, and maybe even develop a closer bond with ‘em as ya battle and travel together, y’know?” She would gladly admit that she had her own share of problematic Pokemon to deal with, though likely for very different reasons as opposed to Bastien. Piper had that nasty nervous fur-plucking tic that Chrysa was hoping to be able to break her of at some point during the journey, and Kyan was just vastly uncomfortable around strangers in general and quite paranoid because of his partial blindness in his right eye. She had quite the team of oddballs and misfits, truth be told, but she still loved them all nonetheless. She chuckled as Bastien said that her Pokemon were much nicer, and that she had a great team growing already. ” Heh, I suppose so~ I’ve yet to really test out how well Piper and Kyan are able to battle though, I’m actually a bit nervous for them, to be honest…” she said with a slight frown, knowing that the Vulpix in particular would be rather reluctant to battle at first. Piper would probably be willing to fight, maybe if she was given a little push or a bit of motivation. Amaterasu and Celeste were excellent fighters from what she had experienced, and Ryouichi… Well, the Froakie had yet to involve himself in any kind of battle yet, but he would surely leap into the fray whenever he could. A thought crossed Chrysa’s mind, realizing that she hadn’t told Bastien about Kyan yet, and he had already seen the majority of her team thus far. ” Kyan is my Vulpix, also a gift from grandma by the by, but I don’t think you’ll be seeing him around anytime soon. He’s… not very fond of strangers,” she added, just in case he would start questioning about who the hell ‘Kyan’ was and whatnot. She listened as Bastien said that Bug-types can be tricky Pokemon, nodding in agreement. ” You’re telling me, I was ambushed by two Weedle in a row while I was just poking around town!” she said with a chuckle and a smirk, ” There seems to be quite the infestation~” Amaterasu yipped happily, puffing out her chest proudly and puffing out a bit of smoke, as if the fact that she had successfully beaten two Weedles was a well-earned achievement. Chrysa nodded in agreement as Bastien explained that it was the Pokemon that everyone believed was the weakest were capable of surprising them. ” Yeah, I agree with ya there~ I’ve heard many people I’ve met so far tell me about how they used to think Magikarp was one of the weakest Pokemon out there, but they quickly changed their tune with the floppy little fishy becomes a badass Gyarados,” she stated with a chuckle as she held up a finger in a casual explanative, ” Or how Feebas the ‘ugly duckling’ of a fish evolves into an absolute beauty, a Milotic~ Ya’d think that Pokemon like those aren’t good for anything, but they’re definitely worth the effort if ya put in the time and training~” She remember back home in Mossdeep, whenever Grandmama wasn’t cooking or tending to the rehabilitating Pokemon under her care, she was usually watching the television tuned to her favorite channel: Contest Spotlight. Milotics were a very popular choice for most contestants, and it was really no wonder why. Even Grandmama had a Milotic of her own that she kept in the small backyard pond, which used to be the crater that had formed many years ago when Chrysa had tried recreating her own rocket fuel outdoors. One thing had led to another, and the rest was history from then on. Focusing back on the conversation at hand, Chrysanthemum chuckled as Bastien said that her Pokemon weren’t too shabby either, and that he would pay to see an epic fight between her and the Gym leader. However, the conversation took a bit of a turn as he mentioned that she was free to go on without him since he would be busy training to take on Viola once they got to Santalune. Chrysa insisted that she would be willing to wait for him no matter what, even if it took him a million years to be able to beat the Gym leader. She had never really had that many friends in her life, but if there was one principle of friendship that she was going to adamantly stick by, it was that friends don’t leave friends behind. Bastien was a really cool guy, he was very nice, had a good sense of humor, and he was quite charming in his own quirky kind of way. Chrysanthemum had only just gotten to know him since their initial meeting in Sycamore’s lab, and yet they were conversing as if they had known each other since the beginning of time. Somehow, she felt that she wouldn’t be quite sure of what to do without his quirky antics and enthusiasm to help keep her morale at an all-time high. A worried look crossed her face when it seemed that Bastien was a bit upset, and was about to ask what was the matter before a confident grin crossed his face as two words crossed his lips in that moment : You’re on. Deep golden eyes met dark brown in that instant, and Bastien proposed that they spar when they both had their badges from Viola, no holding back. ” Challenge accepted~” Chrysa declared with a grin, chuckling softly, ” Oh don’t worry, I do believe in a fair fight, but I don’t plan to go easy on ya~ So ya better bring your A game when we start throwing down, Bass~” She felt herself getting giddy and excited at the idea of battling, feeling that she would be well prepared when she and Bastien would have their first sparring match. Of course, there was still the business of exchanging their contact information, Bastien assured her that his Holo Caster should be compatible with her Xtransciever, but if she wanted one for herself there were a few stores in Lumiose that sold personalized Holo Casters. ” Heh, sounds cool, but Lumiose City seems quite distant from where we are now, I think I’ll pass, thank ya very much~” she said with a laugh, fiddling around with the buttons on her Xtransceiver to transmit her contact information to Bastien’s Holo Caster. However, her eyes traveled over towards the Holo Caster in Bastien’s hands, a thoughtful look crossing her face. ” However… maybe with the necessary materials and modifications… I could possibly repurpose one of those Holo Casters for a much more… practical use,” she said mostly to herself as the mechanical gears in her head started turning, chuckling softly, ” It’ll be like something straight out of a sci-fi flick~” She nodded when Bastien said that he personally didn’t care for having his face pop up on a hologram whenever he wanted to talk to someone, his Holo Caster beeping and jingling as it registered her contact information, confirming that she was now registered in his list of contacts. ” Yeah, I get that, I sure as hell wouldn’t want everyone seeing my face clear as day whenever they contact me on a Holo Caster, it’s just rather… creepy, don’tcha think?” she commented, pressing a few more buttons on her Xtransceiver. Moments later, a pinging noise emanated from the small watch-like device, followed by a sound effect similar to that of the Item Get theme as it successfully registered Bastien’s contact information. ” Congratulations, you and Bastien are now friends~” she answered jokingly with a wide grin and a nod when he asked if it had gone through for her. Now that they had each other’s digits in their contacts, Bastien looked like he was raring to go as he grinned, rubbing his hands together and sticking his tongue out a little. He said that he’d heard the Santalune Forest was a bit tricky to navigate, but he was ready to go when she was. ” Roger that~” she said with a light laugh, glancing in the northern direction where Ama had shown her the path earlier. ” So, just over that bridge, right?” she asked as she gestured towards the aforementioned structure with a hand, ” Well, I’m glad I have you with me, Bass, otherwise I’d be a bit nervous about going into those woods. I’ve read more than enough spooky forest stories to know not to wander into the woods alone, especially at night.” Of course, Amarantha had assured her that the Santalune Forest was safe for travelers, no ghosts or any other paranormal shenanigans going on in this neck of the woods (no pun intended), and she trusted the nurse’s judgment well enough. Still, she was more than happy to have Bastien with her, ghosts or not, she was still rather anxious about going into that forest, or any kind of woodland for that matter. She really needed to stop reading those scary stories… her thalassophobia was bad enough, the last thing she needed was to develop more irrational fears of other things on top of that. ” Well, we ain’t gonna get anywhere near Santalune if we’re just dawdling around all day, let’s roll out~” Chrysa said with a grin as she gave Bastien a firm pat on the shoulder, pushing the operating lever on her chair in the forward position. With a puff of steam and a whir of gears, Chrysa and her chair were well on the move towards the bridge that would take them over the river and into the woods beyond with Celeste easily keeping pace as she ran alongside her.】☆ ☆

"Hmm? You really think so?" Looking a little worried, Bastien considered what Chrysa said. Could he and Bita really respect each other? Unless the young man figured out what was making him behave so irrationally, the chances of that were slim. Still, Bastien wasn't the kind of person to just give up. "Yeah, you're right. You're right! Somehow, it'll work out. Nantoka naru sa." With a big smile, Bastien listened to Chrysa more. She explained that she was nervous about having Piper and Kyan fight... Wait, Kyan? "Kyan is your... Fifth Pokemon?" In no time at all, he was already curious as to what it was. It seemed that Kyan was a Vulpix, another gift from Chrysa's grandmother. He wasn't fond of strangers, like Piper. "I see. That's okay," he said sympathetically, not wanting to push the matter. "Infestation, huh? Maybe they're planning on taking over like one of those old alien invasion movies?" Bug-types held a special place in Bastien's heart. He didn't like talking down about them, but in this situation, they were only joking... Right? In any case, the young man gave Amaterasu a small round of applause. "Good job, hehe! The planet is safe for another day!" As he said that last bit, Bastien stuck out his chin and stood straight at attention, military-style. He gave Ammy a stereotypical salute like a soldier before relaxing once again, scratching at his nose innocently.
Chrysa also seemed to agree with Bastien's terms, accepting his challenge posthaste. "That's what I like to hear! I'd never be able to accept it if I lost to someone who wasn't even taking me seriously... I-I mean, uh, we'll see who comes out on top when I'm a bit stronger!" Words escaped from his thoughts, dribbling out of his mouth even though he'd had no intention of admitting that fact. Bastien's face got a little red and he stammered, but still managed to keep calm... For now. He may have talked a big game most of the time, but Bastien was incredibly insecure. "N-now... With that out of the way," the young man said after taking a deep breath, "let's get going!" It was good to have someone with him as they went through Santalune Forest. It was, for lack of a better word, almost like a maze. "Aww, don't let those spooks get to ya. There's nothing out there that you can't deal with if you have a little ingenuity! Unless... You're afraid of ghosts~?" Quite suddenly, Bastien began rubbing his chin. He smiled in an almost cat-like fashion, giving Chrysa a sidelong glance... Right before chuckling like a schoolboy. "Nahh, just kiddin'. You're right, we should head out!" With that, the two of them and their Pokemon were off, crossing the bridge that led into that crazy forest.

Cypher was still busy running calculations through it's head, puzzling over what Zelda was so upset with it about, and as Roxas stepped through Aquacorde Town, Cypher seemed to finally perk up, having thought of something clearly. "I've got it!" Cypher announced, causing Roxas and Zelda to look over at Cypher with interest. "The reason behind your reaction, the cause for my offending you, I've figured it out. The answer is.... Forty Two." Cypher seemed so pleased with itself, Zelda just had to stare at it in wonder for a bit before finally coming to her senses again. "What does that even have to do with ANYTHING we wee talking about?!?! That's not even a good answer! Not even close!!!" Zelda growled angrily. "Mm... No, I thought it over and I'm quite certain the answer is forty two." Cypher stated matter of factly. Zelda was quite annoyed with this absolute nonsensical rubbish, the tufts of her ears glowing hot with fire as she contemplated shooting Embers his way.
Any normal person would have dropped the Fenniken from the burning sensation but Roxas hadn't so much as flinched, having no idea that the Fennekin should have been causing her searing pain. Thankfully Cypher did. "M-miss Zelda please stop! You're burning master Roxas!" Zelda blinked in surprise and quickly cooled herself down. "Oh.... Sorry...." Zelda frowned, though Roxas certainly hadn't seemed to mind... How odd. Roxas remained blissfully unaware and smiled at Cypher. "You're sure getting worked up about something over there. What's up buddy? Let's try not to overheat your core on our first day out alright?" She chuckled. Cypher hesitated. Perhaps it was best not to tell her....

Zelda scrunched up her nose with displeasure. Something smelled fishy, and not the good kind. The Fennekin took a look at her new trainer's reddening hand, then hauled off and chomped down on Roxas' hand. Roxas felt the bite but not because of pain, looking leisurely down to inspect what in the world Zelda was doing, blinking in surprise to find her gnawing at her hand. "Aw jeez-- Zelda!" Roxas finally noticed her slightly chared and bitten hand and set the Fennekin down. "Look if you wanted me to put you down there are better ways of letting me know...." Roxas scolded somewhat, inspecting her hand with a frown.
Zelda yipped apologetically and stood on her hind legs, pawing up at Roxas' leg so she could be picked up again. Roxas gave her a confused look but stooped down to scoop her up again with her less abused hand. "You're an oddity Zelda...." Roxas shook her head and made her way to the pokemon center so that she could get her hand checked out. "Now why did you go and do that to master Roxas....?" Cypher practically pouted, hovering sulkily, not quite all that pleased with Roxas being hurt. "She doesn't even react...." Zelda frowned, partially ignoring Cypher. "Master Roxas cannot feel pain. I must advise that you stop your experimentation on this subject for the sake of my master's safety." Cypher asserted rather firmly. "Way to go captain obvious. I'm not going to hurt your precious master anymore don't worry. I prefer not to bite the hands that pamper me, I was just curious." Zelda insisted haughtily, averting her gaze.
