After the ball had disappeared like the others had, Erryn knelt to sit as she either waited for the egg to hatch or for another Pokemon to show up. As she did, looking through her dex to learn more about her new catches, Rattata came over and pressed the button of the Alolan's ball, letting his black-furred counterpart out so they could play. She smiled, finding it cute, and decided to let the Growlithe she'd gotten from the old lady out, too. She still had to meet him after all. As the two Rattata played a game of tag, roping Farah into it, Erryn focused on the canine. He was very curious about where he was before even realizing the girl in front of him."Grow?""Hi. I'm Erryn and I'm your trainer now. It's nice to meet you, Growlithe.""Lithe!"Erryn giggled as Growlithe suddenly pounced, sniffing at her excitedly before licking her face after deeming her okay. He was a really friendly Pokemon.
It seemed Growlithe preferred to stay with Erryn, curling up next to her and watching the Rattata and Farah play. It was really kind of sweet the way he wanted to stay near his new trainer and she couldn't help but pet him; his fur was kind of rough, but still pretty soft. It was at that moment she decided she really should give the rest of her Pokemon names. Picking out the Rattatas' names was pretty easy. They reminded her of her parents and how they would always tease each other or just play around, usually with her in the middle so they could tickle her. So, she decided to name them after her parents; Judas and Ellen. As for Growlithe, she ultimately decided on Teddy. Because he was kind of acting like a big teddy bear.
Cuno, however, was still a tough one. She didn't think she should name it just because it wasn't really her Pokemon. It was with her because it wanted to look after the egg, not necessarily because it wanted to be a part of her team. As she sat and stared at Cuno, who looked back at her occasionally in curiosity over why she was staring, a Fletchling broke her line of sight. Well, she couldn't hope for a new Pokemon every time.
vs! A wild level 6 Fletchling appeared! Erryn sent out Judas!
Judas used Quick Attack! -40 HP from Fletchling. 20 HP remaining. Fletchling used Quick Attack! -40 HP from Judas. 30 HP remaining. Judas used Tackle! -40 HP from Fletchling. Fletchling fainted! Judas earned 5 EXP!
That was definitely one of the tougher Pokemon in the forest. And, it looked like Judas really benefited from fighting it if the way his fur bristled for a few seconds was anything to go off of. Erryn picked the Rattata up gently, checking his wounds as she dug around in her bag for a potion. He wasn't that hurt, but he did have a little scrape on his chest. Spraying the medicine over his chest, she pet him before letting him run off to play with Ellen and Farah some more.
Huey held back from sighing. Yup, yup, yup. He'd just... stop explaining things to Esben, with his little knowledge of the 'outside' world he wouldn't understand from just words alone. And it was fine, totally fine, he knew people were like that. Besides, even if Esben didn't believe most of the things he said, he was still enjoying his company, and that was what was important! Right?
He looked between Byr and Isi, committing their names to memory, before, with a wide grin, he waved to both bears. "It's nice to meet you guys!" he chirped. To Esben's bold claim, Huey gave a playful scoff and shook his head. "Nuh-uh!" He gestured back to his team, indicating that Esben should look at them, get a good look at them. They were super strong. Sure, Esben's could get his pokemon as strong, but his pokemon were just that strong, they couldn't lose; well, maybe they could, but... he didn't like to think about it. Meanwhile, although Huey didn't catch Teeg's look of worry, Diana did, and she shook her head gently, indicating that she wouldn't have to worry about anything. There wouldn't be a fight between the two boys and their pokemon anytime soon.
Cloud, now in Huey's arms as Flef was in Esben's, giggled when the small fluff became so excited that he practically began vibrating in his trainer's arm. He placed both hands over his mouth, conveniently avoiding the younger boy's suspicious look. He knew what he had to do now! He needed to get Flef a donut, maybe even a dozen, and then he'd know the glory of them! It wouldn't be too hard, they were going to a city, and that was the donut's natural habitat; they'd find plenty.
Oh wow. Huey nodded slowly, eyes wide, as Esben listed off several different types of things his family hunted for. "Do you sell the treasure you guys find?" he questioned, imagination shooting towards rickety chests, spilling out with gold doubloons; his idea of 'treasure' might've been... to basic. He made an odd face, a cross between utter confusion and disbelief, at Esben's casual question and own confusion. No... wait... what were the Ambush doing?! "I've... never been attacked by a dragon," Huey answered, slowly, trying to work his way through his thought process. "None of my family has. I don't know anyone who's ever been attacked by one." Certainly he could see it, dragons were known for their ferocity and could be hard to train, but... from the way Esben described it, this happened-- "All the time?!" he couldn't help but to blurt out. Were... the dragons where Esben lived just super vicious?
...He'd make sure to keep Minerva out of Esben's sight.
It took him a full minute, but eventually he got back to the subject at hand. "Mmm, yeah. It's a place, a building. You go inside of it." At this point, he was a might bit distracted. Was this... something to report? He'd never heard of something like this before, and seemed like a 'tell-the-adult' situation. But... uhm, who would he even tell? "Never mind, it's nothing." He quickly dismissed Esben's question, no mention of robotics stuff. "Maybe we'll find one that'll make you change your mind," he suggested, semi-optimistically. Considering their conversation had been relatively pleasant, Huey jumped at the other's sudden shout, and instinctively tightened his grip around Cloud. In response, the Togepi gave a trill of his own, joining in on the shouting game, before patting his trainer's arm. "Maybe... the dragons your family deals with are different from the ones we have here?" he suggested meekly, quickening his pace.
"We're about to enter the city," Huey spoke up, once he'd caught up with Esben. "...It's really busy there, and there are a lot of tall buildings and tons of people. So we need to make sure to stick together, and not get lost," he informed, his tone surprisingly serious. He doubted Esben had a phone, so if they did lose each other he wouldn't have anyway of contacting him.

Esben gave Huey a curt stare as the boy boasted about the superior power of his pokemon. He followed that with a snort as though suppressing a loud laugh. "Yeh, yeh I can see! But there’s more ta strong than just strong!" And with that nonsensical philosophy spouted like it made any sense, he left the matter as settled. He’d show Huey the truth! Just… not now. In the meantime, Teeg gave Diana a grated ‘tur’ response and a relieved sigh as she was assured that today would not be a day of unnecessary beat downs.
"Nah! I mean… we trade them if it’s for somethin’ better! Never really sell though," he made a funny face at the thought. Huey’s questions were so odd and… beyond the normal. After all, why sell when you could get something better? That was a far more profitable venture. "We keep tha’ best stuff for ourselves!" Cause that was the only way to do it! His jubilance changed to shock as Huey admitted he’d never been attacked by a dragon. "Really?" The young Viking asked in honest disbelief. He took a moment to glance around the forest though, frown on his face. "I guess I ain’ surprised… it’s seem… nicer around this place. Tamer even!" He turned back to the blonde with a determined look. "Yeh! All the time. You’re lucky. It’s hard ta fight them off all the time," he looked to waiver a bit at the though as though what proceeded with it was rather unpleasant memories.
Bucking up (and maybe hugging Flef just a little bit tighter in the process for totally not comfort) he waited as Huey answered his question regarding what a gym really was. So, it was a building… Esben understood that much. He looked a bit confused by the blonde’s distraction and then dismissal. What was he thinking about? Maybe he was considering the potential dangers of leaving all the dragons un-slaughtered? Weird. Esben huffed and looked less convinced. Hmph. He’d see about that.
A fire flared in Esben’s eyes at Huey’s suggestion that maybe, just maybe, dragons were different. "NO!" He shouted defiantly and came to a stop where he was standing. It was evident from his face that a nerve had been struck as he tightened his grip on Flef to a point that the poor creature chirped in concern. "All dragons are the same!" He snapped, louder than was probably necessary, a boot stomping into the ground in his fit. "Nothin’ but vicious killers out for blood! You don’t know them like I do so STOP TRYIN’ TA DEFEND THEM." It was upsetting to hear that and while he didn’t think Huey meant to offend, Esben couldn’t help but feel his blood boil. Teeg looked worried and Byr and Isi were immediately clinging to his leg, the Teddiursa yanking his pant leg and giving little growls that seemed to suggest the boy calm down. Esben took a moment to compose himself, taking a deep breath and loosening his grip on Flef when the poor thing gave another little chirp of concern.
He fell quiet at that point, still huffing in a bit in his anger even as Huey mentioned they were entering the city at this point. Esben just grunted and followed along as they crossed the threshold from forest to city. "Fine."

As Erryn sat with Teddy with Bryant and Articuno keeping an eye on the ege not too far away, Farah and Ellen both darted up to her. Farah had an armful of berries, which Erryn assumed she found in the forest, but Ellen was holding a bag by the handle with the swirl of her tail. It looked old and like it'd been buried forever. Taking the bag from her as Farah decided the berries were too much to carry and just plopped them in front of her trainer, Erryn looked through it. There wasn't much in it except for some bottles of...Pokemon hair products and accessories of some kind and an old ID that was way too corroded to make out. Maybe it was lost by a trainer a long time ago. Looking at the items, Erryn noticed they were still in relatively good condition. The bow and cape were a little tattered and could use some repair, but she was sure it wouldn't be hard to do that. Shaking the bottles, the soaps inside didn't sound clunky or anything, so she assumed they were still fine."Huh....Thanks, Ellen. You, too, Farah."Erryn put the berries, soaps, and accessories into her bag as the two Pokemon resumed their playing. Judas had been waiting patiently for them.

It was honestly kind of fun watching Farah and the others playing. Almost rejuvenating in a way. Of course, maybe it was also because she was petting Teddy that she felt so relaxed. She looked over when Bryant made what sounded like a gasp and she saw the egg was cracking even more; even beginning to glow. It was hatching! Erryn got up and rushed over, kneeling a few feet from the encased egg as the others gathered around, too, eager to meet their new friend. However, before it could happen, another monkey - this one blue - appeared out of nowhere and, seemingly attracted by the sight of the group, decided it was going to get right up in there to see what was going on. Judas, however, didn't like that one bit and headbutted the other Pokemon's leg. Before Erryn knew what was going on, the two were more than ready to fight.

Well, there was no use letting the chance to catch a new Pokemon go to waste. Grabbing a ball, Erryn tossed it at the unconscious monkey and watched as it immediately pinged, showing she caught it. It wasn't that hard at all catching Pokemon. She'd have more than she could handle before she knew it. As the ball disappeared, Farah suddenly squealed and she remembered there was an egg hatching. Unfortunately, she totally missed it and was instead greeted by a...little cat thing. Still surrounded by Articuno's ice, but seeming to not mind at all."Aw....It's so cute."

Erryn still didn't know what it was, but it was obvious it wasn't Articuno's egg. Unless Pokemon had different breeding laws than people and animals, it couldn't be the ice bird's. Still, Articuno was pretty protective of it, so that was all that really mattered. Well, until she could scan it, what the little guy was was just going to have to be a mystery."Hey, there. It's nice to finally meet you. Are you okay in there?"The tiny leopard looked at her curiously, head tilted and all, before it noticed Farah and suddenly seemed to panic a bit."No, no! It's okay! Farah isn't going to hurt you, I promise!"Note to self: The baby Pokemon doesn't like fire. She'd have to make sure to keep Farah at an acceptable distance. It really wasn't fair to the Charmander, she knew that, but until their new companion understood she wasn't a threat, it was all they could do.

As much as the group wanted to keep watching the little leopard, Erryn and Riolu noticed the cooing seemed to make it uncomfortable. Once they realized that, they broke the group up so it could relax. Bryant and Cuno stayed with the encased Pokemon while the others went about doing other things; Farah and Teddy sat with her a good distance away while the two Rattata went about playing tag together. It was cute watching them interact and Erryn wondered if they'd end up as partners. How did Pokemon mating work? Was it the same as animals?"Char~...."Erryn looked over and saw Farah curl up to nap with Teddy quick to follow her lead, the Growlithe resting his head on Erryn's lap happily. Aw....All her Pokemon had been pretty friendly so far. She hoped it stayed that way. Looking back at the leopard, she saw it had fallen asleep, too. Seemed like everyone was getting drowsy. She debated joining them, but before she could, another monkey - this one being red - jumped out and started her and her sleepy Pokemon."That wasn't very nice!""Lu!"

She really shouldn't catch the red monkey because it seemed to be more on the jerk side of the mischief spectrum, but....She did catch the blue and green ones. Maybe they were a set. Getting out a ball, Erryn tossed it at the Pansear and watched it shake rebelliously before dying down and pinged, showing the Pokemon had accepted its fate. She was getting good at this! Or, maybe it was just easier to catch weaker Pokemon. Either way, if this was how easy it was, she'd catch all the Pokemon in now time. Getting them to evolve....Well, that was another matter entirely that she'd worry about later."Are you okay, Judas? You're not hurt?""Tata!"Judas ran around in a happy circle to show he was fine before going back to playing with Ellen. Erryn was relieved.

Now that things seemed to have calmed down after the Pansear's rude interruption, the group decided maybe it was time to get some sleep. Erryn returned the majority of her Pokemon to their balls, leaving out only Bryant, Cuno, and the leopard; she didn't want to retrieve the leopard before it was ready, and the others were basically its guardians. Taking off her coat, Erryn bundled it up into a pillow as Bryant found a fairly secluded area for them to safely rest. Once they were settled, Erryn took off her bag to set it next to her jacket before laying down. She watched as Cuno seemed to coo what sounded like a lullaby to the leopard to lull it back to sleep before she opened her holographic device to play some of the recordings she had of her parents. Bryant looked at it curiously, even coming over to lay next to her and watch the recordings that were being projected."Your family?""Mhm. That's my mom and dad.""...Where are they?""At home....I bet they're mad. And, worried. I left without telling them I was going."If Bryant had more questions, he didn't pry. He could probably sense Erryn didn't want to talk about it right then. So, he went quiet and instead chose to watch the recordings with her until he fell asleep. She fell asleep soon after him.
