As she observed the shadows in the dark stone she had just obtained, Fumi remembered that she still had to analyze the haul that her family had given her. Her remembering came at a good time seeing as the little Chespin looked like he was getting tired, at least that's what she concluded from his struggling to keep up with her pace. Amber eyes moved across the forest in search for a place to rest. Her sights now set on a comfortable tree, the girl scooped up the tired Chespin and brought him under the tree. Pins was, to no surprise, confused by the non-communicated action, but didn't put up any opposition from the free ride. He did take a mental note that this could be within the norms for the girl as this was the second time this had happened. Now sitting beside her as she took out some items from her bag, the young grass type watched her as she tried to figure out just what they were for.

After carefully and neatly placing each and every item she had received before her departure on the ground to make it easier for her to analyse, Fumi grabbed a reference book of sorts from her bag. It was a little on the thick side making it quite a pain to carry around. While she would have much preferred to bring a lighter device capable of accessing the Internet, the purple haired girl did not have the means for it. She sighed. Maybe one day...
The identification of all of the items were found in the book which made the girl feel like the brick of literature was worth the trouble to be lugging it around. Finishing up the packing with the disc-like objects called TMs, the girl couldn't help but wonder how an object like this could possibly teach a living being a move set for battle. Looking back and forth between the disc and Pins, she ultimately put it away figuring that now was not the time for this as they still were on the hunt for those eggs. Of course she had yet to tell him of her plans, but he seemed pretty complacent given his obedience and didn't feel the need to inform him. Not unless he asked. "You well rested?" The Chespin got up to his feet, dusting off the particles of dirt that had accumulated from kicking up while he was waiting on the girl to finish whatever she was doing. A cheerful chirp had told her that he was. "To the next city then." Keeping it short and sweet, the girl started walking towards their next destination, but this time she waited for Pins to catch up before continuing on. Maybe she was learning?

✵The Pansear rushed out of the brush, stopping on the road with a slight pant- it's head looking one way, then the other... No Sign of her... It spat the Pokeball on the floor and made a noise "Paaa" before going to poke it... A sudden rustle in the bush made the plan only ninty percent effective as Wynter burst out of the bush! If she had fangs and claws, they'd be ready to go!! She stomped a foot down, swiping her Pokeball from the Pansear and sticking her tongue out at the Pokemon.
"Mine! And I'm going to find so much fruit and give it to GOOD pokemon!"Wynter stomped her foot again in her mockery at the thieving Pokemon... who didn't take too kindly to that.
✵The Pansear growled before shooting out a tiny ray of fire from it's mouth at Wynter. With a yelp, Wynter dodged it, the flames catching her skirt helm. She's squeak loudly, patting out the fire as quick as she could while the Pansear stuck it's tongue out at her, a flame still on the tip of it's tongue, before it retreated into the Forest, leaving Wynter to tend to her scorched skirt edge. After which, she let out a steady sigh- looking around slowly... Her eyes would rest on a sign, saying she'd entered Santalune Forest... No snacks left, and a trip through a Forest ahead- a forest infested with possible thieves! Wynter pouted a bit as she stared down the path that would guide her.

✵Wynter would let a steady sigh escape her lips as she stared at the sign, nodding softly to herself. Alright... Just need to make it to Santalune, and I can get whatever I need... Plus, that Tilnom place is there. Two Starly, one stone! Wynter threw up a hand, quickly snapping it into a fist as she stood determined- a little glint in her eye. Alright! Let's- She would blink rapidly, looking on the empty road before her arms went like limp noodles and she groaned softly to herself. Waaaaaaaaaaaaalk!!! The young trainer shook her head- glancing to the pokeball in her hand with a soft smile and a nod. Okay, Root... Let's... Let's do this. Can't master anything by whining- unless... you're rich, I suppose? Wynter started walking before recalling the times whining got her something, laughing to seemingly nothing before she'd clip the pokeball back in place on top of the row for her active team. That's about when her violet eyes drifted to the row, smiling softly at it all. She scanned the area slowly as she was on her way, a smile on her face as she watched small pokemon dart past trees, some would stare at her a moment before resuming their days... Trainers were all over too, catching pokemon, or just minding their own business.
✵Wynter couldn't help but continue to giggle softly at the sight of it all... Of course, it wasn't the first time- but each time she saw it, it felt free! There was such a strong urge to rush into those Forests, pit herself against somebody, or capture more Pokemon. Bond with her new friends, and make more! The Mission! Wynter's attention snapped forward suddenly with a determined nod- the pink haired woman suddenly starting to run forward. And then lunch!

✵Wynter was bolting down the trail, passing trainers and Pokemon with a slight turn, spin, or even hop to not bowl anyone over. That determined look in her eyes carried as she rushed down the trail, finding an open space between her and the next group of people... so she took a moment to really enjoy herself. Her arms spread out wide, as if a child pretending to fly as she giggled furiously- basking in the sunlight and wind that whipped past her. This was what it felt like to have no rules! This was what it feels like to be yourself!
"Woo!"Wynter cheered loudly as she dropped her arms to try and run even harder.
✵So close! One step, then we find out what comes next, no matter what- we move forward, never back! That thought made Wynter grin ear to ear as she ran, shooting past person after person until finally it was in view... Santalune City... This was it.

"Mmmm." If it could be assumed that Esben was apart of the Ambush, then Huey would have to go about their conversation differently. He'd just have to consider that the younger boy knew nothing about electronics, or anything really, and have to teach him! It was just fortunate that Huey had Hannah and Lewis, his younger siblings, so he knew how to teach the younger generation. "It's not dumb!" Huey insisted, but gently; because teachers had to be patient. "They're really useful, and sometimes the videos are funny too." What kind of video could he show Esben... Huey made a face as he thought, there were so many out there. Maybe something educational? Or... funny? He shook his head, quickly deciding that a decision like that could be made later. "I am not! Videos are real, I'll show you them soon!" And then, from there, they could move onto to other things, like TV and video games! In the midst of his excitement, however, Huey was caught off guard by Esben's next question. Did... the Ambush not have libraries either? Ah well, that was just something else to teach! "They're buildings that are used to store millions of books, and most of them have computers too that you can use," the blonde explained. Boy, he sure did have his work cut out for him!
After releasing his pokemon Huey waited, patiently, for Esben to admit that his pokemon were strong, super strong even, and watched him as he appraised Dianna and Beep. The pokemon, not sure what was going on, watched the small child circled them. All three reacted when he gave his review, Huey deflating (but quickly bouncing back), while Beep gave a cheer and threw his arms into the air; someone thought he was strong, woo! Dianna huffed, steam curling around her tusks, before she extended a hand out to ruffle Esben's head. "They can take on a bunch of different pokemon," Huey raved, before remembering that Esben was more of a visual learner -- or rather the"I'll believe it when I see it" type. "I'll have them battle someone. Then you'll see." He'd just... have to make sure it was against pokemon who could match their level.
Cloud, briefly distracted by the arrival of his best friend Beep, turned his head back to Flef when he asked what glasses were. Hmmm, he wondered. Was Flef wise, or did he just not know a lot of things? Either way! He'd answer all his questions, and to the best of his ability. "They're accessories that help you see! You can make them out of all sorts of things, like donuts, but only humans can make the ones that work." Cloud paused to cast a curious look over to Flef, was he getting all of this? "Hmm..." After a moment he patted the pokemon's head, assuring himself that he definitely was absorbing all this information; he was a good little fluff! He broke out into applause and a little jig, which for him involved hopping from side to side, when Flef agreed to be his friend and take on a nickname. This was the best! "Okay!" He closed his eyes, drawing forth inspiration and all the creativity that dwelled within his tiny body, before his eyes flashed open, he did a spin, and patted Flef's head again. "Your nickname will be Fleffy!" he declared, and proudly at that.
Huey nodded his head, though inwardly he couldn't help but think of how odd Esben's name was. "Who's Eskil? Another sibling?" He watched as Esben put his axe away and wondered if his parents were okay with letting their son carry around a weapon like that, which lead him to wonder if his parents would let him have an axe. He didn't have much use for them, and the idea of having so sharp so close did scare him, he did have to admit that watching Esben cleave that wood had been cool. "...I guess you have a point," Huey admitted. Maybe he just didn't consider how important it was because... it just wasn't something he was worried about, nothing threatened his survival. He frowned, "Why are you slaying dragons?" Didn't 'slay' mean 'kill'? That... wasn't good.
A bit disappointed that Esben wasn't impressed with his badges, most people usually were, he closed his badge case before returning it to his bag and strapping it onto his back. "I guess warriors don't need them, but trainers definitely do." Still though, even with his fussing Esben eventually relented, which was the important thing. "Mm, alright!" Keeping his team out, Huey scooped Cloud into his arms and gestured for all to follow him as he began walking. He'd visited Kalos during the Easter egg hunt, and he did remember that the first gym leader was in Santalune City, which was... beyond Santalune Forest, logically.
"Before you battle the gym leader, you should train up your pokemon," Huey advised, the sky temporarily darkening as a collection of tree branches blotted out the sun. He tipped his head back, then pointed up at the trees. "You can find a lot of bug pokemon in the trees and stuff. So this is a good place to start." He wasn't going to admit, but it was... pretty fun sharing all this trainer information to someone. If he wasn't so committed to becoming a breeder, he might've considered becoming a teacher.

Esben continued to give Huey a questioning look as he droned on about these ‘videos’ and their value, his nose scrunched up as though he’d caught whiff of a bad smell. "Yeah, yeah… wha’ ever ya say. Sounds like a buncha witchcraft ta me!" He remarked hauntly, chest puffing out. He didn’t know if he liked the sound of these ‘videos’ with how much Huey pushed them but he’d take a look anyways just to prove that he wasn’t afraid of something he didn’t know. He tilted his head some as the blonde explained what a ‘library’ was, eyes blinking in wide wonder. "Huh… we don’ have anythin’ like that I don’ think. The seers have a lot of scrolls and books, but not that many." He rubbed under his chin in thought as he considered this idea. Reading material of any sort was a commodity reserved for only the most astute amongst his clan, at least that was what he’d been told. Of course, Eskil seemed to be one of those people and Esben wouldn’t have thought him to be the sort who would keep so much of one material like these ‘libraries’ did, much less anyone else in his clan.
He was a little taken aback by the cheers and responses from both Huey and his pokemon upon his appraisal of their ‘strength’ and even gave a grunt as Dianna ruffled his hair, unable to help a little bit of a grin in response. "Really? You don’ say?" He eyed the two again, chest puffing out as he placed his hands on his hips. "My bears can take anythin’ too! Or they will, some day! They’ll be the toughest bears ever!" He glanced back as Byr chimed in with a mighty chirp of a roar while Isi simply cowered behind Teeg uncertain if he approved of this proclamation. Esben grinned at them and then at the other boy, giving a nod of approval at his claim that he would someday lay witness to their power. "Good! I’ll be expectin’ the best battlin’ ever!"
Flef gaze shifted from the towering forms of the two new pokemon that had appeared on scene back to Cloud. He watched the other curiously as he explained what glasses were, fur whisps whipping from side to side as though he were swaying in place. These glasses sounded amazing but also left the fluff ball with more questions. "Donut?" The fuzzball chirped, staring at Cloud. What was a donut? That sounded quite different from the glasses they’d been speaking about. Of course that question was lost in the excitement of friends and names and chirpings and dancing. Flef simmered down as Cloud announced he would be called ‘Fleffy’ from now on. The fluff was still a moment, seemingly deep in thought before erupting again into excited chirps and hopping up in down as much as his little fluff body would allow. "Fleffy! Fleffy! Fleffy!" It was clear he approved. What a fitting name! At least he thought so. Cloud was so kind to bestow this on him, he’d cherish the day for the next ten minutes or so until something else caught his curious eye.
"Eskil’s my cousin!" Esben announced proudly; it was very clear he was proud of his family which also brought a ting of worry on if they missed him or not. "Tha’ eldest oooff… my mum’s… sister!" He had to think it out a bit there, family lines weren’t his fortay. "He helps Ulla with the hunts and stuff! They’re amazing!" Esben gave the boy a look when he conceded that survival was kind of a big deal, though frowned as the question of what he meant by slaying was brought up. Esben looked confused by this, head titling just enough that a cheek was obscured by the fur of his collar. "Because we have to! Or we won’ survive!" He huffed, looking a bit annoyed. What was so hard to understand? Ms. Elizabeth and Duncan had inquired of him the same questions and while the elder woman was less nosey, Duncan didn’t shut up about how wrong it apparently was and how Esben would quickly find himself in a jail cell for trying to slaughter a dragon in these parts. It didn’t make sense to him. Did people really not like living? Or maybe there just weren’t enough dragons around to bother them? That had to be it.
They walked along and into the forest and Esben half listened as Huey explained all the unnecessary steps he would need to take before challenging the supposed ‘champion’; which started with a gym leader. "Wha’s a gym?" He asked again, confused by all these new words the boy kept using. At the mention of fighting bugs, Esben scoffed again looking as though his pride had been insulted. "I don’ need ta fight bugs! I ain’ some weaklin’!" Really? Bugs? What part of ‘dragon slayer’ had missed the blondes ears? "Now dragons! We’ll take them out! Are there these… ‘leaders’ with dragons?" He questioned, tone a bit accusatory. With how backwards things seemed in this place, he wouldn’t be surprised if people had rolled over and become friends with those terrible fiends! It was best to prepare himself now to correct these wrongs as he encountered them.

Witchcraft? Man, Esben sure had some weird ideas, and was rather stubborn with sticking with them. Huey simply shook his head, however, he'd see. "Really?" He could, kind of, understand not having any technology, but no library either? What did the Ambush--the more he said it in his head, the more right it sounded--have? "If you want, you can check out a book. I think they'd give you a library card." He actually didn't have a library card himself, but that was because he'd always used Andrew's or his dad's whenever he wanted to check out a book. Maybe it was time to get his own.
Huey bobbed his head quickly, all smiles at this point; now that his pokemon he'd gotten the approval of someone younger than him, surely he could do anything now. "What are their names?" He asked, turning to look at the Teddiursa and Cubchoo Esben proudly gestured to. The former looked more eager than his companion, but they both were pretty cute, still though he gave a thumbs up, "We should battle, once they get that tough." Huey pulled his arms back, fingers outstretched. "It'll be so good, it'll blow your mind!" he exclaimed. Beep, only understanding the bare minimum of the conversation, copied his trainer's pose, chest puffing out grandly.
"Mhm, mhm!" Cloud bobbed his head, which was really just his whole body, before he closed both his eyes, to properly envision the description he was about to give. "A donut is a super sugary, super frosty, really amazing type of food! They're put in the shape of the a circle, but with a hole in the middle, so that you can pretend they're glasses, or use to make a crown." Man, he wished Cheri was here, then they'd both be able to explain what a donut was, and just how stupendous they were. Cloud opened his eyes, "Maybe we can get you one, and then you can try it! Unless you don't have a mouth." He toddled closer to Flef and leaned in close, trying to look beyond his fur, "Do you have a mouth?" Surely, he had to have one, or else he wouldn't be able to eat! It was a concern that would have to be worried by someone else, as Cloud quickly became distracted by Flef--now Fleffy--and his excitement over his new nickname. He beamed proudly, before nodding vigorously. "Mhm! You're Fleffy now!" He was getting really good at this nickname stuff, he'd have to keep it up.
"Oooh." Huey nodded his head. "I don't have any cousins. My mom's an only child, and my dad's brother--Uncle Drew--isn't married yet," he shared, it seemed only fair. His face lit up, in a mixture of light surprise and interest, when told about group hunting. He didn't know anyone, or in this case anyone who knew someone, who hunted. "What kinda stuff do they hunt?" Instinctively Huey frowned, reflecting Esben's, before furrowing his eyebrows together. Now he was just as confused as he was! "You won't survive?" It took him a few seconds to connect the dots, they had to slay dragons or else they wouldn't survive, but when he finally did his look of confusion blossomed into one of surprise, his eyebrows shooting up high. "Do you guys get attacked by dragons?!" Or... wait, did they slay dragons to eat them, because they had nothing else? Was that the kind of 'stuff' they hunted? Either way... Esben's life was vastly different from his own...
Though they were in the forest now, Huey felt it safe enough, what with three of his own pokemon out, to walk backwards, so that he could look at Esben as he talked to him. "A gym is the place you go to so that you can challenge a gym leader. Sometimes they decorate them so they represent the type of pokemon that leader has. Like... back in Johto, there's this gym leader named Bugsy, and his gym has a bunch of spider webs and even a mechanical spider." Angelia had told him about that! But, because he'd focused on the Unova league, he'd yet to see it himself. The boy didn't exactly pout, but it was clear he was disappointed, when Esben waved away his advice about training prior to challenging the gym leader; even if they were bugs, it wouldn't hurt to get his team a little stronger. "Fighting bugs doesn't make you weak," he insisted, but he wouldn't put up too much of a fight. If that was what Esben wanted to do, then he'd let him. "Dragons?" Huey pursed his lips as he tried to recall the specific gym leaders that trained dragons, he knew a few of them did, but he couldn't remember everyone. "Oh! Yeah. In Johto the 8th gym leader, Clair, uses dragons, and so does herrrr cousin, Laaaance?, and he's the league's champion." Absently he scratched his cheek, he knew there was someone else... but, ugh, he couldn't remember right then. "I don't know if Kalos has any gym leaders or Elite Four that do, but we can look that up." Hopefully that would be enough to placate Esben, for now at least.

Walking into the forest was pretty refreshing. It kind of reminded her of the cavern where she first saw Cuno; only, it wasn't a battleground. Which was nice. It also wasn't a cavern. But, it was green and smelled really nice because of the literal fresh air. Looking around, Erryn was able to see a good collection of Pokemon already. There were more Weedle and other caterpillar Pokemon along with a trio of monkeys. There was also a couple of Pokemon that looked like Mitsu's Pichu, only bigger. An evolution maybe?"They're all so cute....I want to catch as many of them as I can."Except the yellow mouse. If it was an evolution of Pichu, she wanted to catch a Pichu instead."Erryn.""Hm?""Look."Erryn blinked and looked over at Bryant, who was focused on the egg instead of anything around them. It was then she noticed a couple of cracks forming on it and she squealed. Loudly."Is it hatching!? Oh, I can't wait!"
The four of them had all gathered around the egg as it continued to crack and shake, eager to meet the Pokemon that would soon join the world. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like it was quite ready to hatch because it suddenly stopped progressing and Erryn pouted."Aw, come on...."Well, you couldn't make it hatch faster than it was ready to, so there wasn't anything they could do but wait a little while longer. There was plenty they could do to pass the time, like catching new Pokemon, so it wasn't that big a disappointment. At least they wouldn't be sitting around being bored."I guess this means we can do a little more training. I think I saw a bird hopping around over there."She was still going to have Rattata battle, but if it got too rough for him, she'd have to switch things up. Hopefully it'd be fine.
vs! A wild level 5 Fletchling appeared! Erryn sent out Rattata!
Rattata used Quick Attack! -40 HP from Fletchling. 10 HP remaining. Fletchling used Tackle! -40 HP from Rattata. 30 HP remaining. Rattata used Tackle! - 40 HP from Fletchling. Fletchling fainted! Rattata earned 5 EXP!
That was actually really close. Erryn gave a relieved sigh as she slumped forward, digging in her bag for both a potion for Rattata and a ball for the Fletchling. She threw the ball first, letting it do its own thing while she treated Rattata with the potion. When the ball pinged, Erryn looked up and watched as it was transported to Oak's lab. She was still uneasy about that, but she trusted that the professors weren't going to hurt the Pokemon that ended up in their care.
Now that the egg was on verge of hatching, Erryn couldn't really focus on anything else. There was a lot of hype put into the egg and what it would hatch into; to say she was excited and expecting something amazing was an understatement. Oooo. What if it was a baby Cuno!? Maybe that was why it was so protective of the egg! What would a Cuno baby look like? Did its kind evolve at all or just...grow?"Oh! I should let Farah out. I'm sure she'll want to meet the baby Pokemon, too."Erryn grabbed Farah's ball and let the Charmander out. She was very excited to be back out of her ball and Erryn smiled a bit. She should let her Pokemon out more often.
The look of confused ‘what’-ery reappeared on Esben’s face as Huey mentioned something about libraries and ‘cards’ and other nonsense that flew over the young boy’s head. He pursed his lips together in a pout, refraining from commenting on how silly the other boy sounded with all his words. It sounded much to complicated in the long run and constantly confronting Huey on these random bits of information and how little value they probably had was silly at this point.
"Tha’s Byr! An’ that’s Isi!" Esben beamed, finger pointing from the Teddiursa to the Cubchoo as he introduced them to Huey, still clearly full of pride. Byr straightened up to try and look more ferocious, which just let Isi hide more though he did peek out a bit at the motion of approval from the blonde. That was…a good thing?
"Ha! You’ll lose you know!" The young Viking announced with so much confidence it was a surprise that he wasn’t floating off the ground yet. Not that he was downplaying the strength of Huey’s pokemon; it was very clearly, he just had that much faith in his small bears and turtles. Teeg gave the two boys a bit of a look, clearly more aware that their chances were… less than stellar. Huey seemed a reasonable type though, so it would hopefully be a while before they were used to wipe the nearby floors.
Flef stared in awe as Cloud describe what donuts were. They sounded amazing! And terrible! He wasn’t sure what to consider them to be honest; they sounded versatile but also useless. He’d clearly have to see it for himself to really learn more, which excited him greatly and showed and she chirped and squirmed in delight. Plus, he had a glorious nickname too which absolutely suited him. He quieted down though as Esben gave him a squeeze, delivering a look that seemed to suggest that he needed to stop being so loud, giving Cloud a bit of a suspicious look too.
Esben nodded thoughtfully as Huey shared some more about his family, beaming excitedly at the question about the hunts. "All kinds of things! We hunt fa food mostly and… and survival! And for treasure sometimes! But food!" He listed off, tongue sticking out the corner of his mouth as he thought really hard to assure he had listed all the important stuff. He gave Huey a bit of a look at his confusion, frowning a bit. "Yeh! Why? Don’ you?" What kind of warped world was this that Huey didn’t know about the threat that dragons were? They were everywhere, always causing trouble… there was no way this boy hadn’t had a run in. "They attack all tha’ time! But we beat them back! They don’ live long when they’re up against us!" Which was mostly true.
Esben frowned. "So a gym’s…. a place?" He inquired. It sounded like a building to be honest; maybe a great hall erected for these so-called leaders that displayed in full glory their power? That sounded rather impressive and he was smiling in excitement. He made a face though as Huey explained one of the leaders."Bugsy?" That didn’t sound like a tough name at all. Though a gym full of spider webs and… wait what? "A mecha-what?" These words the blonde kept using… they made no sense. "Bugs ain’ tough either! So doesn’ make you strong either!" Esben snapped back, looking firmly cemented in his decision not to fight bugs. The sooner they got to the gym, the sooner he could prove this fact to Huey. He listened sternly though as Huey explained that there were in fact individuals who fraternized with dragons, expression growing grim. "And they’re still alive?! That ain’ right!" He practically shouted in disgust, determination filling his steps as he started to pick up speed, Flef chirping a bit as he was squeezed. "Yeh can’t let people hang with dragons! Traitors!"

They were all very eager to meet the baby Pokemon, but Erryn knew better than to crowd the egg. So, while Bryant and Cuno kept an eye on it, she decided to get in some more training and hopefully some catching while they waited. It wasn't long before they ran into a green monkey-like Pokemon that Erryn had a strong suspicion of being a Grass-type. Farah would do good against it then, right? Fire was stronger against Grass; logically speaking anyway. Well, she'd find out."It's your turn now, Farah. Lets see if we can catch it.""Char~!"
vs! A wild level 3 Pansage appreared! Erryn sent out Farah!
Farah used Scratch! -40 HP from Pansage. Pansage fainted! Farah earned 2 EXP!
Erryn smiled, proud of Farah's victory, but she had to catch the Pokemon before it managed to sneak away. She tossed a ball and waited, fingers crossed, as it captured the monkey; and, immediately pinged. Erryn was a little shocked. She'd expected it to shake even a little, but apparently that wasn't the case with this one."That was easy. Oh, and you were great, Farah. You're getting stronger and stronger!"
