► A little under an hour after the incense's effect had come to an end the trio was back on the move. Headed towards Santalune City the next town on the route to Emory's first gym battle. Emory, unlike Triston and Viviette, was riding atop her trusted Gogoat. A little selfish she knew but her legs were hurting and this gave the ideal opportunity to introduce herself to her new Pansear, Pansage, and Panpour. It was hard to keep the trio of monkey Pokemon still for very long as they played atop the riding Pokemon and their new trainer. Triston had already sent the three Pan's he'd captured to the GTS, the global Trade system. They were bound for a new trainer, someone in the Shinno region he said. He'd apparently sent them to someone just starting as an official trainer. "Yeah my buddy's a monk from the Johto. He only trains a certain type of Pokemon, monkeys, and these guys fit the bill. When i told him we were hunting for them he promised me something sweet if we could catch him one of each." Triston explained when Emory had asked through Viviette. Emory didn't mind helping. Especially knowing it was to help someone out. Happy to help" Emory signed translated by Viviette.

► There is was. The exit. A gaping hole between the tree's where the light shown as if it was the mouth of a cave. It might as well have been with how thick the tree top canopy was. Emory knew this was as far as she could ask Triston to go. He'd gone much too far out of his way to escort her and then even further adding by her personal endeavors and at his own loss. It was time to part ways. But not before making sure her valiant knight was repaid in full. "Can you contact my father from here ?" Emory signed. she disliked not having a proper sign to use for Viviette yet because signing her name one letter at a time was time-consuming and rather informal. "Yes ma'am I can. What for ?" Triston was currently preoccupied with the Trio of Pan's using him like a jungle gym. "I want to ensure he's repaid for his serviced." Viviette smiled and bowed out pulling from her skirt pocket a cell phone making for a good distance so as to not be overheard taking Emory hint to keep it secret. For now.
While Viviette dealt with that Emory was going to keep Triston busy. Sliding off the back of Gogoat giving it a pat on the head as thanks for the ride, she then skipped to the slightly older males side. Chespin followed. "Cheesssspin!" Emory giggled lightly racing the tiny grass-type. She'd won but Chespin didn't care. Triston was a little overwhelmed by the Pan's to notice her right away. It wasn't until she plucked the Panpour from atop his head did he turned to face her. "Oh, miss Emory hello." He chuckled as the other two Pan's settled atop his shoulders to look at their trainer too. Emory cuddled the Panpour to her chest with both arms crossed letting its tail and legs dangle freely. "Everything alright?" He asked setting both Pansear and Pansage down to play with Chespin. Emory nodded with a faint smile. It was time to say goodbye. She'd come to enjoy the boy's company but she couldn't hold him or herself back for sentiment.
There was a gym battle to be had soon and she needed to prove to her parent's she could do this on her own. That meant eventually ditching Triston one way or another, same went for Viviette but it was unlikely she'd be free of her company anytime soon. Emory mouthed a thank you to the boy. "Huh, for what?" Emory motioned to the Pansear and Pansage at her feet then to the Panpour in her arms but Triston chuckled. Shifting his weight and moving his legs as the Pansear, sage and Chespin played something akin to tag. "Don't sweat it. It was my pleasure. Really." Emory shook her head in disagreement wishing she could convey her appreciation better than this. Viviette was approaching so it would be easier now at least. "All done miss Nalani. Triston is for you." Viviette handed boy a slip of paper. He made to open it but she stopped him before he could unfold and read what was inside. "I'll have to ask you wait until later to do that. Miss Emory's request." Emory nodded in agreement despite having made no such request. "Can I ask what it's for ?" Emory held up the "No" tattooed on the back of her hand.
After convincing Triston she wanted to remain and train a little longer the trio became a duo. Emory ensured Triston couldn't open the letter before getting to the Pokemon center in the next town over by giving it to his Riole instead. Triston's generosity wasn't done with however as he departed one last gift to her Ninetails with the knowledge that in time it would undergo an amazing change but it would take time to take effect and see the change. With that taken care of Emory set to getting a few more battles in befoe she would eventually need to follow in Triston's footsteps and head north.

► Some wild Pokemon still lingered well after the sweet incense had faded, making training much smoother than Emory had anticipated. The pan's also learned extraordinarily fast which made teaching them what moves she wanted them to perform and when a near seamless performance. It only took a single attempt with the Panpour for it to catch on to the pattern and in turn, she taught Pansage, Pansear, and even Chespin. The grass-type Pokemon had been having some troubles catching on to her method until now. Emory assigned each move a different noise she could make with her body such as clapping, snapping her fingers, Stomping, and clicking with her tongue, all of which indicate a different move. She also used whistling to indicate when to use the move. Combined she was able to communicate to her Pokemon exactly what to do and as Triston had pointed out before, it kept other trainers guessing what she was up to unless they caught onto the pattern.
With each Pan having now had at least two battles Emory thought it best to return to camp and Viviette so they could pack up and head on to the next town. They'ed spent more than enough time here and Triston was long gone now so it was safe to assume he was in the process of receiving his payment for serviced rendered. It was unlikely they bump into one another now. "I see. I'll return right away but what of miss Nalani sir? She'll be most disappointed to be forced to leave now." Viviette was on the phone, mostly like with her mother or father, when Emory got back to camp. Viviette hastily waved at Emory to stay quite which was almost an insult considering. None the less Emory nodded in agreement but not one to be left out of the loop quickly scooted up close to listen in on the conversation setting her bag down beside her. "It won't be but for a few weeks and I know she's been itching for some time on her own to prove herself capable again. Besides, it might do her some good to rough it solo. She's smart, tough, and listing in." Emory squeaked involuntary jumping back. Viviette giggled as she confirmed mister Keonaona's suspicions.
When all was said and done Emory was given the first chance in years to be actually on her own. This was nearly unprecedented since losing her voice. Viviette assured Emory of her return explaining she had a family emergency that couldn't be ignored or postponed and that no one else was available to replace her at the time. That her father thought it best to give her a chance to prove herself considering her stubborn refusal at being "meek" as he put it and the conditions he wanted her to oblige by. Mostly to just stick in contact as much as possible and let them known as soon as she got to a new Pokemon center. That way when Viviette was to return by her side she knew where to go. Emory didn't dare attempt to gamble for more than what was already being given. "In that cause, i want to stay here a little longer and train." Emory explained to Viviette who couldn't exactly set any rules of her own or force her to do much of anything she wasn't already going to do by choice. "alright, just stay safe dear. I'll be back as soon as I can." Viviette replied but given the circumstances it was unlikely she'd be back anytime soon.
It wasn't long before Viviette was long gone, tracing back towards the train station in the last town by following the trail Triston had led them on. Emory, if she could have cheered would have sung or perhaps even screamed at the top of her lungs. Instead, she was running in a circle chasing the Pan's in a game of tag. Free as last! It was invigorating, yet on some level terrifying. The fear of isolation was held at bay by the feeling of freedom to go and do whatever she pleased. "Fist things first though" She thought to herself after expanding her sudden burst of energy. "I need to get stronger so I can defeat the gym leader in Santalune City." Emory was sure of it, she needed to train more!

► With her mind made up Emory walked the trails leading from the northern exit back south in order to flush out and wild Pokemon hiding in the underbrush. It wasn't long before a Scatterbug dropped from a tree seeking the safety of a hollowed out log. She almost felt bad for the thing but knowing it would recover and go back about its day smoothed over her concerns. Emory understood hat she had to do this if her Pokemon were to grow stronger. It was a fundamental part of being a trainer after all. No escaping it. Well, there was but that meant twice as much work for everyone involved. Trainers were just too hard to find consistently. ► Maybe staying here on my own wasn't such a good idea after all Emory thought as she tried to navigate the twisting trails of the forest. Somehow she'd gotten turned around and was now hopelessly lost. It was getting late and the sun was starting to set on the horizon. There was only about an hours worth of daylight left before the sun would be too far gone to see by and tonight would be a new moon. Emory would only have starlight to see by if she got trapped out in the open woods. Panic was setting in and the idea of setting camp for the night escaped her as she rushed forward trying to find sanctuary. Her mind kept wondering back to the darkness of the cave from so long ago. The smell of cold moisture and of sounds as they echoed into its dark depths.
Emory wasn't thinking clearly anymore, too scared of her past. All she could think about was escaping the forest, escaping the darkness, escaping her past. The more she panicked though the worse the situation become as soon night was well upon her. No moonlight and worst of all clouds had begun too obscured what little starlight she had beneath the forest canopy. It was all too much and soon Emory found herself leaning against the trunk of a tree heaving and battling to stay in command of her own body as it curled up fetal position. Then darkness ...
Emory shifted under a thick warm blanket waking to the sound of a campfire as the resin in the wood popped under the pressure of expansion. It was a familiar sound not easily forget. It was the memory of her time so long ago travailing with Jessica that it reminded her of. Then came the sudden realization and she bolted to sit up straight. "Woah there child." Came a hushed woman's voice from her side. Emory turned to see a woman with deep red hair, baggy clothing made of assorted thin fabric's, and tons of tiny metal bubbles that hung from ever inch of her attire. "Your safe now." The women said setting down a metal rod she'd been using to shifted the firewood with. "Take it easy alright. Can you tell me your name?"
Emory paused in slight disbelief before shaking her head but holding the palms of both hands up for the women to see. There on her palms read "I'm Emory" and "I'm mute". The women gave a confused look before it registered in her head. Her eyes widened and she went slack jawed for an instant. "I see, IMy name is Clair, miss Emorie correct ?" The women's heavy accent made understanding her difficult but she was close enough. Emory shook her head yes then held up her ring and pinky fingers on the right hand, "When" and "Where" were tattooed down their length. The women marveled at her tattoos for a moment before speaking. "I found you about an hour ago, down by the old willow tree. You'ed passed out. Can you help me understand what happened ?"
Emory wasn't sure she could explain a panic attack to someone without some sort of medium to write on. She made the motion of writing on her hand hoping to get the message across. "Ahh paper, I think I have some, just a moment." The women got up and moved towards a large object set between two trees. It took a second but Emory realized it was a wagon and beside it rested a massive Pokemon. She instantly recognized it as a Mudsdale. A native Pokemon of her home region the Alola. The women returned shortly thereafter accompanied now by a black feline Pokemon she at first thought to be an Alola Meowth but instead was just a black Meowth. Emory mouthed a thank you and began to write down to the best of her abiity what had happened before passing out.

She was spooning out portions into bowls. One she set on the ground for the black Meowth, another she set aside for herself and the last~ "Here, eat dis." She continued handing Emory the bowl of steaming hot stew. Emory mouthed thank you but Clair didn't seem to notice as she retook her seat on the opposite side of the fire. It smelled delicious but considering she'd not eaten since lunch, a good six hours ago, Emory wouldn't have been picky anyway. Inhaling deeply Emory slowly blew to cook her food watching as the black Meowth set on the ground a funny little hat she'd failed to notice before. "You can sleep here tonight." Clair said after a short interval of silence. After dinner, Clair set up a makeshift bed on the floor of the wagon for Emory to sleep on. It wasn't the most comfortable thing but it sure beat the ground or the roots of a willow tree. It took a while before Emory found a comfortable position and passed out.

►As Emory retook her seat glancing to Clair wondering exactly was going through the strange woman's head. She was differently not normal compared to most people she'd meet. That wasn't to say she was deranged or touched in the head by any means. More, she thought and acted outside the norm and that tested people's comfort zones, which was a good thing in a lot of way's. She'd always felt drawn to people like that. People who played on the edge of insanity or genius. Picking up the bowl of stew and blowing to cool it Emory found herself watching Clair's every movement. Not only was she "strange" she was fluid and graceful too. Her every movement was swift and to the point but never beyond what she needed to accomplish her desires. It was like she was in a constant dance.
"Meeoowwth?" Emory broken her gaze away to find the black Meowth sat at her feet. One paw on her bare foot. The Pokemon looked to be begging for a treat. Emory lanced a chunk of meat and offered it out but the Meowth turned her nose up. "Meowtttth! It growled gain, this time a little more threateningly. Clair leaned into Emory ear. "She wants to battle you." Clair whispered then straightened up right. Emory wasn't sure she quite understood the implied tone in Claire's voice. "Isn't she your Pokemon?" She jotted onto the notepad. The Meowth moved in closer rubbing on Emory's leg purring as Clair finished her food and read. "Oh, no child. I'm not a train. Neither of dem belongs to me. Iv just stuck with dem for the company." She laughed and as if to affirm the women's confession the Mudsdale snorted as he pawed at the dirt.
Emory finished her food, cleaned her bowl and was about to brush out her hair when the Meowth confronted her again. "She won't stop." Clair said in passing as she packed her things into a large trunk. "She'd quite persistent." Emory sighed standing up and pulling from her belt a random Poke'ball. It seemed it wasn't something she could avoid. Stepping to the side of the camp she released the Pokemon, Ledyba. Certainly not the best Pokemon to battle with currently but she assumed this was just to humor the feline. Emory stomped her foot and instantly the bug type strung into action releasing a shower of spinning stars, a Swift attack. There was no escaping it so instead the Meowth countered with a purple ball of energy. Emory gritted her teeth then whistled. Ledyba again moved upon the none verbal command attacking with a U-turn. The battle was then done. Emory won.
Emory recalled her Ledyba to its ball pleased with the results of their training. It was paying off at last. Clair stepped up to retrieve the Meowth and lay it down on a pillow from the wagon. "Impressive." She said offering the feline a bowl of water to which it lapped at happily. "I think you'll make a fine trainer for them indeed." Clair turned holding two Poke'balls. Emory was truly taken off balance. What was Clair playing at now? "What do you mean?" She wrote on the notepad but Clair again ignored the writing as she already knew what was written there. "You should pay attention child. I already told you. I'm not a trainer. More importantly ~" Clair motioned towards the Mudsdale then down to the Meowth who's paw was now on Emory's lap. "She wants to go with you, and where she goes, he goes." It seemed an oddly packaged combo deal but who was she to argue. Adding the two to her ever growing collecting wasn't a bad idea anyway.
Emory nodded accepting the poke'balls, capturing the Meowth first then the Mudsdale. The wagon was then left standing on its own support legs. Emory hadn't thought about it before but how was Clair to move it if she didn't have Mudsdals to pull it now? Clair, who was done packing her belonging stepped up beside Emory setting a hand on the girl's shoulder. "Dat belonged to deir previous trainer so it goes with dem." Clair said in a hush pulling from Emory's hands the two orbs and releasing the newly captured pair. "I'll show you how to drive it child." Emory was shaking her head no in confusion. this was all to much at once.

With the Umbreon held protectively against his chest Lysander, accompanied by Heather, made his way determinedly through the forest. He was in too much of a hurry to appreciate their new settings, the small town they'd just been in giving away to several miles of trees, or the way their pokemon reacted to the change. Froakie, who'd never even gone more than a few hops from the laboratory was especially awed by their new surroundings and he made sure to give allow himself a few seconds to take in the sights and breathe in the new smells. The frog wasn't given long to relax, unfortunately, as the sound of his trainer cursing up ahead broke the peaceful silence of the forest.
Froakie turned his head, semi-interested, in the direction of his trainer and began hopping back to catch up. As he drew closer he identified the problem that had arisen, in the form of an odd yellow rodent. A Pikachu blocked their path and seemed intent on keeping the group from continuing forward; perhaps it felt itself the forest's guardian? Either way, the pokemon proved a nuisance and an obstacle one couldn't simply walk around. And so, with the situation now fully assessed, Froakie did what came natural to him and blew out a few bubbles in the Pikachu's direction, the attack popping upon impact and soaking the target. The attack, as weak as it was, proved to be too much for the Pikachu, however, and with a shocked cry it shot back into the underbrush where it'd originally came from.
Lysander turned to look at Froakie, a look of surprise on his face; Froakie stared back, unblinking. Wasn't that what he was supposed to be doing? Fighting and protecting his trainer? Well, he was certainly holding up his end of the bargain.

Lysander shook his head to try and rid himself of his shock, the reminder of his priorities a good way of putting him back into the mindset of the task at hand, then began to walk again, taking advantage of the opening Froakie's impromptu attack had provided. They needed to hurry this along, and try not to engage in any battle; Lysander wasn't looking to prolonging their travels through the forest any longer than it needed to be.
Of course the forest --or maybe this was just life in general-- had a funny way of showing its understanding of urgency, as not even two minutes into their walk a Fletchling dive-bombed the group from a tree above. "Son of a--" Lysander did his best to cut himself short, keeping himself 'gentlemanly' in front of his sister, but there was no use in trying to hide his aggravation. Thankfully Cavatina was there to make quick work of the rude bird, reminding it of its manners with a few well-placed attacks that would most certainly bruise later on. Afterwards the Treecko brushed gingerly at her body, a few scraps on her arm from where she'd been hit by the Fletchling.
She'd ignore it, at least for now. It wasn't a wound that impeded her in anyway, not to mention they were on their way to a Pokémon Center. So, she could wait until then to receive medical attention.

After the Fletchling sightings of the forest's wildlife decreased, up until the point where only the occasional rustling of a bush or the odd call were the only signs of inhabitants. Lysander was more than relieved at this, he had enough to worry about without adding on to the possibility of his or Heather's pokemon being hurt in battle, or one of them getting separated from the group and lost; the last scenario only applied to Amp though, the absentminded feline.
Without the random pop-up of fight-raring pokemon their time improved by a few minutes, and it wasn't long until the group had arrived at the forest's exit, a few of Santalune's more taller buildings able to be seen in the distance. Careful of their numbers Lysander did a headcount before completely leaving the forest behind, counting his sister and four pokemon. He frowned. That wasn't right, they should've had five. Before he could start calling out Froakie hopped past him, pulling the attendance up to five. Lysander raised an eyebrow, but rather than look back at the pokemon he looked back at the direction he'd come from. There, a little bit away, he spotted an unconscious Kakuna; well, that answered his question.
Lysander huffed before he turned back around, still careful not to make too many sudden moves that might jostle Umbreon. Now that they'd gotten through the forest, they just needed to head into the city.

►"Alrigh child, remember to take it nice an easy. No need ta rush." Clair said from behind Emory. A bench from inside the cabin had been moved onto the porch fitting into a set of sockets in the porch floor that kept it from moving. This gave the driver a place to sit while direction the Mudsdale how fast and where to go but left little room for a passenger. This meant Clair had to stand behind Emory holding onto the banister for support as the wagon shacked do to the uneven ground. It wasn't enough to knock a person over but if they went any faster anything inside the wagon would surely move around. "Good job. Now turn here." Learning to drive the wagon wasn't nearly as difficult as Emory had thought it would be. Mudsdale did most of the work really. It was quite enjoyable actually.
Clair gave directions for which way to go eventually leading them back to the forest's exit. They were then no more than maybe a few days hike from the town in fact. "Well den I suppose dis is where we part ways child." Clair said taking the reins to slow the horse Pokemon. Grabbing Claire's wrist Emory tried imploring her to stay longer by whatever means she could. She'd lost the notepad some time ago now. It seemed a rather convenient lost on Claire's part. "I hav my own desires to chase child. We'll meet again. Of dat I'm sure" Emory wasn't convinced but let go. She had no right to tell someone else what to do after all. She Besides perhaps Clair simply liked her isolation. It wasn't that hard to imagine her being the hermit type. She already seemed a little "off".
Emory smiled and helped Clair back off the wagon. She wondered where the gypsy women would head from here but it was a good bet it be back into for forest. Afterall Clair had left the fire pit intact as well as some Firewood. It just made sense that she'd return to that spot. Clair didn't seem bothered by the loss of her wagon either. quite the opposite. she seemed glad to be rid of it paying more attention to the Meowth and Mudsdale then any physical objects she had in her bag. Terrence walked into the forest, looking around. It was a lot greener around here than the past areas, and he wondered if he'd be seeing an increase of bug-type pokemon. He had read in a lot of books that forests were heavily populated with then. So Terrence wanted to see it for himself. Az sat comfortably on his shoulder, as he looked around a bit. He was a grass type, so this was probably a place that suited him a lot. Terrence was happy that he was at least enjoying himself a bit more. The same couldn't be said about Sky though, she seemed to hate how it wasn't colder. She was currently curled up in his bag, seeking it's protection from the sun. Though the trees did seem to give off a lot of shade on their own. Terrence was also curious about the plant life here, since he has an illness he was always stuck inside the hospital. He read a lot about herbs and other things so he wondered if he could find some plants he might recognize. He shook his head, maybe he could look for different plants at a later time. However, right now he just wanted to enjoy the festival.

Their next course of action decided, the siblings wasted no time in leaving Santalune city behind and returning to the forest. This time, Heather led the way, and with her eyes furiously scanning over the flyer she'd already pinpointed the first area they needed to visit. "When we get to Aquacorde, it might be a good idea for us to split up," she suggested, eyes lifting away from the paper so that she could begin to watch where she was going. "Sounds good to me. We'll call when either of us finds the egg," Lysander suggested, pulling out his communicator to start quickly typing out a text to Melody. He hadn't had time to reply to her earlier, what with the whole Emory thing, and figured now was a good a time as any to reply to her.
Text to Melody: Got it. I'll try to keep from pumping his ego up any farther. He did, but it's nothing I'm not used to. I'm alright, sister roped me into doing this whole 'journey' thing with her. How are you?

Once finished, Lysander hit send and then looked up when he heard an obvious clearing of the throat. Heather was making a point of staring at him, a frown on her face. He rolled his eyes, then flashed his sister a smile. "Sorry, sorry." Geez, she really was upset. Ah well, he was sure finding a few of these eggs would lift her spirits.

With Lysander setting the pace, Heather found herself working her legs overtime just to keep up. A task that left the girl out of breath and eager to know why they seemed so hard-pressed for time; there was no need to rush, in her opinion. "We need to start investing more time into training our pokemon," Lysander spoke suddenly, cutting Heather off before she even had the chance to open her mouth. "And I don't mean just sending them after other pokemon or trainers, we need to look into getting them some good moves." They both only carried so many pokemon on them at a time -- three for Heather and two for himself, as it stood -- which meant they were already at a disadvantage. They only had so many pokemon they could switch out for, so it was almost guaranteed that they'd have their pokemon facing up against even when typing's weren't in their favor.
"So, when we get to Santalune I want us to do a bit of research and shop for some items, and then take on the gym; just to see if we're ready," Lysander finished up, pulling himself from his thoughts to observe his sister. She'd grown quiet, contemplative, but eventually a grin broke through her uncharacteristically placid expression and she gave a firm nod. "Sounds good to me! I'm all for it," she chirped, certainly quite pleased. "What made you have this change of heart though?" Lysander paused, making a face, before he sighed. Might as well admit to what had happened while they'd been split up. Before he started retelling his tale, however, he stopped and looked around to check how far out they were from the city. Not too far, from what he could tell. He'd probably finish up right before they got to Santalune.
With that in mind Lysander turned to Heather, a slight frown on his face as he began to recall the battle he'd, more or less, been forced into.

During her walk towards the Santalune forest, Fumi pondered on whether or not she should let out her other Pokemon as well. It could have possibly meant more bonding time depending on how she approached the situation. Thinking about how she easily lost control last time, she opted against it, especially since Pins seemed to be the most disobedient of the three. 'One at a time would definitely be easier.' She concluded, her head nodding in agreement to her mental statement. Pins let out a few stifled chuckles seeing Fumi randomly nod her head for supposedly no reason. He was really starting to warm up to her, knowing that she wasn't really mean; she was just really awkward about expressing her thoughts. And boy was trying to figure her out fun for Pins. He obviously wasn't in her head, so the grass type could only guess what she was thinking about from the little to no expressions that appeared every now and again. It had only been a few hours or so since they met, but boy was Pins having fun with his new trainer!

► Maybe staying here on my own wasn't such a good idea after all Emory thought as she tried to navigate the twisting trails of the forest. Somehow she'd gotten turned around and was now hopelessly lost. It was getting late and the sun was starting to set on the horizon. There was only about an hours worth of daylight left before the sun would be too far gone to see by and tonight would be a new moon. Emory would only have starlight to see by if she got trapped out in the open woods. Panic was setting in and the idea of setting camp for the night escaped her as she rushed forward trying to find sanctuary. Her mind kept wondering back to the darkness of the cave from so long ago. The smell of cold moisture and of sounds as they echoed into its dark depths.
