Continuing through the cave there were signs that people actually worked in here. Mine carts, pickaxes to just name a few, luckily there was no dynamite just laying around. Then again all you needed was a Graveler who knew explosion and you were more than ready to go. Mankey stayed out, walking around, spotting a wild Sandile which was great since it was exactly what type they were looking for. Mankey once again started to focus then attacked.

With how effective the fighting move was they didn't even need to heal him up. Instead Simon just told him how great he had done. Continuing down the split in the path they had gone they were blocked by a medium sized boulder. Walking over to it Simon put his hand on it only to jump back in surprise, it wasn't a boulder but a Pokemon, Hippopotas to be exact. Ground wasn't weak to fighting but it wasn't strong to it so the battle would be a decent fight.

After the Pokemon was whooshed away and the path was cleared they continued on. Mankey sensed something and jumped into the air punching just in time to knock a bone back into the darkness. There were only two Pokemon that it could belong to, Cubone or its evolve form. Out of the darkness came a Cubone which Mankey was waiting for focusing and punching it back. Shaking off the attack he lowered his head and rushed for a headbutt, Mankey took it and fired off another Focus blast to win the battle.

The next Pokemon they came across was one he hadn't seen in a while now, Mawile. The last time he had seen one was Valerie's and he was going to catch this one as well. "Mankey defeat her but I want to catch her so don't do too much damage." Mawile started to cry at that but Simon recognized the move fake tears and told Mankey to take it on.

As they got to the end of the tunnel Simon healed Mankey up and looked around for any Pokemon to battle. Some dirt fell onto his head and he peered up, jumping back as a Pokemon fell attacking them. "Ferroseed the thorn seed Pokemon. It absorbs the iron it finds in the rock while clinging to the ceiling. it shoots spikes when in danger."Mankey got ready to battle. One focus blast and Ferroseed was knocked out so Simon readied and threw a Pokeball hoping to catch yet another new Pokemon.

Congratulating Mankey there was a shift in the rocks as another Pokemon appeared. "Dwebble the rock inn Pokemon. When it finds a stone of a suitable size, it secretes a liquid from its mouth to open up a hole to crawl into." Even though it was part rock it was also part bug which meant that Mankey's moves wouldn't be super effective but just normal. Striking it once the Pokemon fired off several rocks but Mankey was able to break them as they came at him. He still took some damage but not as much as others. Once the Pokemon was defeated Simon threw a Pokeball hoping for the catch.

Checking the Pokenav for Mankey's information Simon could tell that Mankey evolves at level twenty eight. That meant eight more levels and he'd have a Primeape. The ground shook as they started down the cave back the way they came and out of the for came a Rhyhorn. Mankey stepped in between Simon and the wild Pokemon and focused himself to strike at the rock Pokemon with a focus blast, it was super effective and the wild Pokemon was knocked out.

Once the stone Pokemon was whooshed off by the Wild Pokemon Registry to heal and be released Simon thought the tremors would stop. That wasn't the case though and they saw why when a wild Onix burst from the wall to attack them. Jumping out of the way Mankey already saw and took hold of a hole in the ceiling that a Ferroseed had crafted earlier. From there he was able to launch a well timed focus blast in order to take it out.

Mankey was on a roll hitting the great point to knock the Onix out without even taking any damage. Totally pumped up Mankey was punching and kicking the air as his next opponent appeared, a wild Machop. For some reason it seemed like most Pokemon wanted to try to knock Mankey out using Leer but Mankey wouldn't give them that second chance to move.

Healing Mankey up the pair continued back towards the entrance of the caves. At the end they could see light but it was blocked in a crescent moon shape as a wild Lunatone appeared. For some reason they never encountered the partner Pokemon of it Solrock. Simon would have liked to capture that one as well. However since they already had one he nodded for Mankey to go ahead and attack to win. Lunatone came in hard with a tackle but focus blast once again stole the show.

Finally making it to the entrance and exit of the cave they were stopped by another trainer. Simon sighed and shook his head but Mankey looked ready for it so Simon nodded, "Yeah we can battle you." The trainer, who was called Lance, settled across from Simon and Mankey before sending out his first Pokemon. The two headed dragon called Zweilous, who was weak to fighting moves.

Actually the level that Mankey was at meant that he could defeat most Pokemon quickly. If there were any psychic Pokemon that might spell trouble but for now Lance sent out his starter, "Bayleef the leaf Pokemon. Bayleef's neck is ringed by curled-up leaves. Inside each tubular leaf is a small shoot of a tree. The fragrance of this shoot makes people peppy." "We've really been training in here,"Simon called out as Lance started to order a razor leaf but Bayleef couldn't get it off as Mankey defeated her with another focus blast.

Lance's next Pokemon was one they had seen and fought often enough except not in horde form. The female Nidoran looked ready to fight but Simon knew she wouldn't get the chance. Mankey was now just too strong to be defeated here. They would have to see if there was another cave in the region where they could continue to train more. As Nidoran F fainted Lance nodded. "Last Pokemon I have," he said with a small smile Simon didn't like.

Yes Lance really had an ace in the hole, a psychic Pokemon that he was holding onto until last. Switching things up Simon called out for Mankey to use strength instead. "Musharna the drowsing Pokemon. The dream mist coming from its forehead changes into many different colors depending on the dream that was eaten." Rushing forward Mankey punched the psychic Pokemon but the Psybeam was super effective. Luckily Mankey was still faster and beat the trainer' final Pokemon.
