With that handled and the new contact information added, it was time he himself set out on his own missions such as checking in for any potential updates. Stepping outside a bit after, he headed for the path that would lead to his next destination.

Terrence walked into the next town, looking around. He remembered seeing the first gym around here, and he was pretty sure that there was another gym around her somewhere. He didn't know the exact location, but he thought it had something to do with a rock gym? Maybe a ground type gym. He didn't quite remember what the pamphlet said, but he did remember that the gym existed. If he had some more time he might ave challenged it, but since he didn't have any badges at the moment the likely hood of him being strong enough to even fight the gym leader and win were slim. He'd have to train a bit more before battling against this particular gym leader. Though at least now he'd know where it was when he came back to challenge it. That was always nice. Terrence shook his head and looked towards the exit. They came through for a reason, now they needed to get back on track and look for those eggs! With a determined look on his face, Terrence moved along to the next area.

It took Lysander some time, but eventually the man managed to pull himself from his sister's grip; just in time for them to arrive in the next city. Rolling his shoulder, he heaved a sigh before taking a cursory glance around the immediate area. "This is where the next gym is," he stated. "Mhm~ Grant! He won't give us too much trouble, right?" Heather made sure to treat Legato with a few sprays of a potion and several hugs, before she sent him back out to take on a Dwebble that'd scuttled out into the open, the sounds of battle coaxing it out. The Popplio, while usually needing a bit of convincing to battle, was more than eager to take on this opponent -- or any, really. He must've felt it too, he was getting closer to evolving.
While Heather busied herself with preparing her team for the upcoming gym battle, Lysander decided it would be best to go ahead and introduce himself to his newest teammate. Stepping away from his sister, Lysander unclipping Girafarig's pokeball from his waist, expanded it, then released the psychic out onto the sand. "So, uh, hey there," he greeted, sounding lame even to his ears. The redhead made a face, but continued on, "I'm your new trainer. Let's work together, yeah? I'll help you get strong, if that's what you want." Girafarig stared blankly at Lysander, unsettling him, before with a giddy whinny she stepped forward to nuzzle her head against his cheek. After going through another potion, Heather sent Legato out once more so as to find yet another pokemon to battle. This would probably be his last battle before they headed off to face Grant, she didn't want him too tired and unable to take on their real opponent. Not when they were almost guaranteed to win! Legato had learned a new move, which he didn't hesitate to show off, and he had gotten even stronger! Grant didn't stand a chance!
Her confidence did waver a bit, however, when Legato returned to her, practically dragging himself across the sand. He gave a pained, albeit proud, 'po' and gestured towards the empty potion bottle, he needed another round of healing. Heather gave a sympathetic smile before she scooped her partner up, affectionately poking his round nose. "I've got something better. Let's get you over to the Pokémon Center and get you properly healed," she suggested. She returned him to his pokeball for the time being, turning on her heels to start making her way back up to the city. "Lys, come on! We need to head over to the Pokémon Center!" she called out, stopping only long enough to pick up Cadenza before she continued on. "Alright!" Motioning for Girafarig to follow, Lysander stuffed his hands into his pockets.

Their time inside the Pokémon Center was short, but within that time Heather thought more about her upcoming battle against Grant. That last battle Legato had participated in, even though he'd been at the same strength as Binacle he'd nearly lost because his moves weren't as strong as the other's. Grant would, no doubt, have even stronger pokemon to deal with, which meant that Legato would need a boost of his own if he wanted to secure their victory. With this in mind, Heather took her brother's Pokedex out and began to look through the list of moves Popplio could learn, her eyes lighting up when they landed on one move in particular. Yeah... this would work, and it had just the right amount of power behind it! They even had the item needed to teach Legato said move, which saved them a trip back to the Pokémart; surely, this was fate.
Equipped with this knowledge, and a Big Mushroom, Heather released Legato once he was returned to her and handed over the fungi for him to consume. He took a cautious bite, curled his lips at the taste, but quickly touched it out and ate until there was nothing left. Heather grinned, unsure if the item had actually done anything but finding Legato's reaction endearing nonetheless. Giving the Popplio a soft pat, she returned him once more before heading outside to meet up with Lysander, who had waited there for her. Joined together, they made their way to the gym where they were met with a rock climbing wall, with Grant at the very top.
"Oh no..." Heather couldn't help but groan, shrinking back a little at the physical exertion that awaited them. Lysander, however, was more than pumped and had already returned both his pokemon in preparation for the climb. "You ready for this, Heather?" he checked, pulling his jacket off and stuffing it into his backpack to reveal the plain t-shirt he wore underneath. "I guess..." she replied, uncertain, but followed her brother's lead and returned Cadenza as well. "I don't think I'm really dressed for this though." Lysander turned around, grunting as he took in his sister's skirt. "You're right," he agreed, and his eye began to twitch at the very idea of Heather being so exposed while trying to climb up. "Alright, we're going shopping," he informed decidedly, then took his sister's hand to drag her back out.
Ten minutes later and the Blackwoods had returned, this time with Heather wearing a pair of shorts, sneakers, and a graphic tee. Lysander, nodding his approval at her new attire, gestured for her to take the lead and climb up first. He followed close behind, diverting his attention between finding footholds and making sure Heather could keep her grip as they ascended; was it just his imagination or were her arms looking a little shaky? Thankfully they managed to make it to the top without incident, and once Heather had managed to regain feeling in her limbs the two siblings challenged Grant.

Grant shook his head as he returned his Tyrunt. It was times like these where he debated using Brock's strategy of having rock types with the ability sturdy just to avoid situations like these where he got OHKOed by powerful steel and water type moves. "Well, I guess you two are just in a league of your own." He chuckled, handing over his badge and TM to the twins. "I commend you for climbing all the way up here and still having the strength to beat me so handily. You've more than earned this cliff badge. Continue climbing to new heights!" He insisted with a nod.

Though it was no question that they'd won, Lysander was still left with a sour taste in his mouth. One that not even Grant's praise couldn't alieve. They had just barely won, if either pokemon had used a different move it would have been curtains for them. So while they'd managed to secure this victory, all it had managed to confirm was that they needed more training. He kept his pessimism to himself, however, and allowed Heather to revel in their win while he took the badge and discs and put them away. Returning both pokemon for the trip back down, Lysander opted to climb down rather than take the slide that Heather jumped for. He met her down on the ground and together the two made a quick trip to the Pokémon Center before they left. There was an egg to be found in the next town.
