Sebastian listened intently as Mimey reiterated their find, head bobbing along in an unconscious nodding fashion as he considered the information. He was rather impressed with the amount they’d found in such a short amount of time; of course what less did he expect from a bookstore? They were usually pretty good sources of knowledge and all.
"Wow, really?" Wow, there sounded like there was a lot to contests. Was he going to be able to keep up? At least they had a clue where to head to start looking for the halls if they were going to compete. He hadn’t actually considered going to Hoenn at any point. The trip to Kalos had been sort of a spur of the moment idea. But, hey, he was out and about to travel right? That meant going to different places.
Sebastian glanced at Jay when he finally suggested Mimey lead them to the bookstore for themselves. That was probably the wisest choice at the moment. "That’s a good idea." Making sure he had his own pokemon in place and everything set, he followed after them, Rummy hoping along after Mimey as the returned their way to the bookstore. Sebastian was quiet for the walk, thinking about the new information. He was beginning to wonder if Rummy was really the best choice after all…

The proud grin on Mimey's face couldn't get any bigger as she nodded to Sebastian. He sounded impressed, and she was rather proud of that. They had managed to find a good amount of information, after all! She hopped up and scurried ahead to lead the way, Jay pushing off to walk along with Sebastian, stepping just behind him. He kept his head bowed as he listened to Mimey's footsteps up ahead, then slowed and lifted his head as he heard her stop. They weren't quite at the bookstore yet, though-- not that he knew that.
No, something seemed to have caught the little pokemon's attention, and she looked off to the side, only to hop and spin around, smiling back at Sebastian. "That's the bookstore right over there," she indicated, pointing to the visible building, "Just ask the cashier about the books we asked him to hold onto. Rummy should be able to show you if you need, but it's all fairly obvious! I'll join up with you guys in a sec!" she informed them. Jay frowned a bit, turning his head. While Jay and Sebastian were moseying on over to the bookstore, Mimey skittered off to circle around one of the nearby buildings. She stopped, looking with a smile as she encountered the rapidash from before. 'Hi again!' she greeted telepathically. She'd felt the pokemon's presence-- and, she was pretty sure she'd felt her trying to call her over. The rapidash didn't look ready to flee, either, so she assumed her instinct had been right. 'Did you follow us?' she asked, still smiling and keeping her voice friendly. The pokemon shifted, looking away. 'Your trainer... is he blind?' she asked after a moment, turning her head back towards the Mime Jr.
Mimey nodded. 'Yeah! But he does a good job getting around and everything despite it,' she answered. She looked at the pokemon, watching her thoughtfully turn away. She was no ralts, and she couldn't really feel emotion the same way Ralward could, but she was pretty good at reading people. And something was telling her there was more to this pokemon's curiosity than, well... just curiosity. 'Do you want to travel with us?' she offered, beaming. The rapidash looked back at her, her expression serious, eyes staring back at her, as though trying to look into her mind in return, and gauge her intentions. '... No. I do not want to battle, and your trainer seems to have plenty of pokemon,' she replied, shifting, stepping back.
Mimey shook her head quickly. 'That's okay! Jay won't mind if you don't want to battle. And he can always use more pokemon!' she reassured. Her smile fell a little. 'You... you seem lonely...' she added, a bit hesitantly. Maybe she shouldn't have said that. It seemed to reach the pokemon, though, who shifted, glancing back at her with an ambiguous expression. Well, as ambiguous an expression as a horse could have. She finally closed her eyes, turning back towards Mime Jr. 'Then... perhaps, if your trainer doesn't mind...' she conceded, sounding reluctant. There was a gentle decisiveness to her voice, though; she would come, if Jay approved, and she would leave if not.
Mimey grinned. 'Great!' she exclaimed. Maybe, after they got to know each other, she could get PONY RIDES! 'Do you have a name?' she added, turning to start leading the way. The rapidash glanced to the side, then slowly began following her. 'It's... Tria.'

Sebastian followed Mimey as she proceeded to lead the way, glancing back at Jay as they went while also assuring that Rummy kept close. He didn’t need the pokemon running off on him again; though the gleeful spring in his step seemed to suggest he was much too excited about his recent discovery to consider running off.
He paused though, looking at the little pink pokemon curiously as she pointed out the bookstore and gave some information. "Ah… alright cool." He quirked an eyebrow curiously, glancing between Jay and Mimey before she hurried off. He glanced at Jay and gave a nod, turning and leading the way into the bookstore. He paused at the counter, inquiring about the so called books and smiling as they were produced. He scanned over them a moment, flipping through them both.
"Huh… a cookbook?" He murmured, head tilting curiously. Well, he was opposed to trying to cook. Of course, Mimey had mentioned something about machines to make poffins and how it’d probably be easier. He set the books on the counter, glancing over as Rummy rushed to the section where they’d found them. "I’m going to see if there’s anything else useful. Maybe something with information on the regions or whatnot." Sebastian said, glancing at Jay for confirmation before he moved for the shelves. It seemed a good plan, though he wasn’t quite sure what Jay would do if there was no brail around. He didn’t want to go doubting though; Jay had surprised him up until now.

JD remained in Sebastian's shadow as they headed into the bookstore, pushing the door open and turning his head as they entered to listen. He released Zoey, so he could get an idea of the building, but frowned as he found it mostly filled with what he assumed to be bookshelves. He reached up as he felt Quena squirming in his pocket, just in case she decided to pop out (or shock him again), while continuing to step along behind Sebastian. He listened around while the man got the books, then turned his attention to him as he muttered something about a 'cookbook. "Hm... Yeah, alright," he replied, listening as Sebastian headed off. Like his companion, he wasn't quite sure what he should be doing. The cashier was staring at him, as if waiting for him to decide, but both turned their head as something clicked against the window, and, following, a loud screech could be heard.
Jay frowned. ".... There uh Braviary out there?" he asked. The man, who had been staring with wide eyes, glanced at him. "Uh... Yeah," the guy replied, "there is...." Jay nodded, then turned, heading for the door. "Thanks. If mah friend asks, jus' tell 'em ahm outside." The cashier nodded slowly, not seeming to consider the uselessness of such a thing, and watched as Jay stepped outside. The man listened to Zoey's echoes, then turned, just in time to reach a hand up and brace himself a bit against the affectionate, but slightly forceful, nudge of the large bird pokemon. It gave another cry, grinning as a bird could grin. "Good ta hear from ya too, Brave," Jay chuckled, stepping back to keep his balance from the nudge, resting a hand on the bird's beak, "Ah take it ya got thuh package mom sent?"

Jay smiled as the pokemon gave a another screech, shifting and lifting a leg to gently nudge him with his talons. He reached down, finding the packaged attached to the bird's leg, and carefully untying it. "Thanks Brave," he said, reaching a hand up. The pokemon nudged his hand affectionately, then stepped back, before flapping his wings and taking off. Jay turned his hand to hold his hat down against the gust of wind, but before he could open the package, another pokemon called his attention.
"Jay! Heeeeyyy Jay!" Mimey called out, yammering outloud, but translating telepathically for him as well. He turned towards the noise, Zoey's echoes giving him an impression of his little psychic-fairy pokemon approaching-- with something much larger behind her. He frowned, trying to tune into the footsteps of her companion. "What's that with ya, Mahmy?" he asked. "This is Tria! She's the rapidash we met earlier, back in Shalour! Isn't--" Mimey suddenly stopped fast, her eyes slightly wide. She recovered fast, though. "Is it okay if she travels with us? She's really nice!" Jacque's brow furrowed, both at the question, and her little.. stutter, if it could be called that. "Ah... s'pose... If she wants ta..."
Mimey beamed, looking up to Tria, who bowed her head a bit. "She does!" she replied. Jay raised an eyebrow, but reached back to pull out an empty pokeball, etching a small design onto it, and then holding the pokeball out a bit. "Ah won' be able ta train her much..." he he warned, "Least not right away...". 'That's fine!' Mimey reassured him, as Tria stepped forward, looking at Jay, then lowering her head, giving a gentle nudge at the pokeball with her head, snapping it open. 'Tria doesn't really want to battle, anyway.' Mimey watched as ball absorbed thefire pokemon in a flash of red, and Jay uncurled his fingers, letting it twitch in his palm, before it dinged. He shook his he put the ball away.
"Well, alright. Ahm gonna go see where Sebastian's at, 'n give Koda his headphones," he said, nodding back towards the building. He shifted, listening, then heading for where the door sounded to be (and where he recalled it being. Luckily the two match up), while Mimey quickly toddled along.

Reaching inside, Jay turned his head a bit, listening for signs of Sebastian. He seemed to still be somewhere further in the store, looking around. Jay stepped away from the door, to clear out the entrance, reaching back for another pokeball. 'Ya gonna give Koda his headphones?' Mimey guessed, toddling along after her trainer with a smile. He nodded, kneeling down and setting the pokeball down while he pulled out a blade to open up the box. "Yup," he replied, feeling out the edges of the box, and then cutting in to slice open the tape on each side, and down the middle, "'Course, ah wanna make sure ah got 'em, first," he explained, pulling the box open. He reached in, feeling his way through the contents. There were a few boxes, and in one corner, covered in stuffing paper to cushion it, were a set of red and white headphones-- not that Jay could really tell the colors.
Once he was sure he had them, and that they were cordless, Jay reached for Koda's pokeball, feeling around a bit until he found it, and released the pokemon. "Here, Koda, lemme see if these'll fitcha," Jay said, assuming the pokemon was out. He held the headphones out, feeling, or sensing, Mimey move closer. Koda stepped over and ducked his head down, lifting it back up on the other side of the headphones. Jay could feel the temperature drop around the ice pokemon, but aside from that, he could actually... barely feel the snow of his fur against his skin, too, as he came back up, and lowered his hands so that his palms could touch either side of Koda's neck. Using that to guide the headphones down around the flurry's neck, he withdrew his hands, then pulled his bag around to try and find his music device. 'Hey Jay! There's a note in the box!' Mimey piped up, pulling a piece of paper out. She stared blankly at it, though, once she'd opened it. It.... it was in brail?

Jay lifted his head from his search through his bag, turning towards Mimey a bit, even though she was communicating telepathically for the most part. "Yeah? Here, give't here," he replied, holding out his hand. She placed the paper in it and he pulled it back, brushing his fingers over the bumps and orienting it to read through it, a smile crossing his face. "Well whaddaya know... Mahmy, ya mind handin' me thuh smaller box in there?" he asked, folding the note up and tucking it into his breast pocket. Quena gave an indignant squeak as her personal pocket was invaded by the parchment, trying to shove it out until Jay gave a light tap to her head. She seemed to gasp, then shocked him, receiving a much former palm smack before grumpily settling down.
Mimey raised her little eyebrows as she watched, but handed over the box to Jay once he reached out for it again. He took the box, unfolding the flaps that were tucked in to keep it shut, and reaching in for the technical device inside. It was a rectangular, slightly bulky object on a loop, like a necklace, but didn't seem like most communicator or other devices. 'What's that, Jay?' Mimey asked, peering curiously over. "S'uh sorta... communications device, but it has a lotta other features, too. Like, it can read some text fer me, 'n verbally translate it. 'Parently, they also got uh music feature with this 'un, 'n hooked it up ta thuh headphones. Lemme see if ah can figger out how ta work it..."

Straightening up, Jay fiddled with the machine a bit, turning his head as Mimey tapped his leg. 'Can I watch you work with it, Jay?' she asked. He raised an eyebrow. "Well sure, but it's prolly mostly voice activated," he replied, leaning down to offer her his hand. She reached up, grabbing on and he lifted her onto his shoulder, raising his other hand as he moved over to feel for the wall, and lean against it. Koda moved to follow-- but blinked as his form turned to its flurry state and quickly reformed as the headphones clattered to the ground.
"What was that?" Jay asked, frowning and lifting his head up again. 'Uh, Koda's headphones just fell... Don' worry, I'll help him put them back on,' Mimey offered, sighing a bit reluctantly under her breath, despite the energetic tone she used to make the offer. She slid down Jay's arm and hopped off, moving over to help Koda try and get the headphones back on around his neck. Jay listened a moment, but then went back to his device. Luckily, it seemed to work pretty easily-- and could decipher through his southern accent... mostly well enough. He would just have to try and enunciate a little more...

It took a bit of fiddling, but Jay managed to get the system with the device figured out. Once he confirmed that Koda's headphones were situated, he went through a few songs with the flurry, until they found some that he liked. The songs were mostly ones that his family knew Jay liked, and had pre-downloaded for him, but he was pretty sure he could make a playlist and get some new ones for him. In the meantime, Koda was happily swaying his head to the music, eyes closed with the fluff of fur on his head bouncing along. Jay couldn't see it, obviously, but he seemed to sense that Koda was enjoying it. Putting the device around his neck and tucking it into his shirt, Jay turned his attention to his next task-- shifting his party around a bit. If they were going to be going to do contest things, and/or getting ready for the next gym, then he would probably do well to change things up a little.
As he was doing so, though, he accidentally dropped Heracross' ball. Cursing, he reached to pick it up, but jerked back as he heard it snap open and release the pokemon. "Hera! Hera, heracross!" the bug pokemon proclaimed, upon being released. He puffed out his chest-- and promptly hurried straight for the door. "Wha-- Heracross!" Jay snapped, starting to straighten, but then quickly reaching down, feeling for the pokeball. He grabbed it, bolting after the escaping pokemon. Mimey and Koda both blinked, exchanging a glance, and moved to follow.

Koda bounded towards the door, and, on reflex, moved to phase through it as it swung shut behind their trainer-- which he did, but once again, his headphones clattered to the floor. He materialized on the other side, the snow catching up after slipping through the cracks of the entrance, his eyes wide. He quickly turned, leaping back through and manifesting again, the snow swirling in around the door to gather around his form as he moved back to his fallen headphones. He turned to see Mimey, meanwhile, struggling to push the door open-- and failing. She huffed, pouting and staring up at it, and then turning to walk over to Koda and his headphones.
'Don't worry, Koda,' she reassured him, still sounding a bit bothered by her tiny inability to open the surprisingly heavy door, 'Jay will be able to catch Hera. He's got Quena, and Zoey, and all the other pokemon with him.' She reached down, picking up the headphones to help Koda put them back on, frowning a bit. She was pretty sure Jay could handle this by himself and all... she just didn't really like having to let him. She was too nosey to just let things happen on the other side of a door without her knowing what was going on! And... wherever Hera had gone, Jay had followed him far enough that she couldn't reach him telepathically...

Indeed, Jay was doing a considerably good job chasing Heracross down. Luckily, the pokemon wasn't quiet-- but it was loud. Zoey flew just by Jay's head as he ran after Heracross, barely catching echoes and dodging around a few things. He nearly tripped twice, and finally reached the pokemon only after it had, apparently, just finished a battle. Panting, Jay doubled over, but groped for his pokedex in one of the side pockets of his backpack. "H-Hera... cross... whaddinthuh hell..." he gasped out, gritting his teeth together. He pushed himself to straighten up, catching his breath as he lifted his pokemon, listening as Zoey perched on his shoulder and continued giving screeches to help him locate whatever pokemon Heracross had battled-- if it was even still there.
His pokedex was just beginning to read off the entry for a Slowpoke when he felt... a weight on his other shoulder. He froze, well aware he had no other pokemon that it could be. Quena was still in his pocket-- in fact, he could feel her stir and start chittering angrily --and Mimey wouldn't have been able to just... jump onto his shoulder like that. "Hera! Heracross!" he heard his bug pokemon proclaim. "Uh..." With an odd, sinking feeling in his stomach, Jay started to step back, flinching when he heard another shrill chitter on his shoulder from... whatever it was. He could hear Heracross stop forward-- and a second too late, realized what his pokemon was probably about to do. "Hera-- g'damn it!" Jay was knocked back as something solid clipped his shoulder, and hit whatever it was that had been on it. He fell back, hard, hearing a squeak of surprise from the foreign pokemon.
Gritting his teeth, he bit back a groan, turning his head to try and listen. He heard angry chittering, above the shrill squeak of an indignant Quena, and then... the sound of a pokeball? Was the pokemon being returned, or-- what was that ding. Why did the pokeball just ding.

Sebastian finally finished searching through the bookshelves. Rummy had settled down a bit, following after his trainer curiously and then, eventually went about trying to balance different books on his back and then his face and tail. He managed a minute or two in each venture.
Returning to the counter with a couple of books he’d found, Sebastian purchased the whole lot, blinking and glancing around when he realized his companion was missing. "Jay?" He inquired out loud, an eyebrow quirking curiously as his gaze wandered the shop. He spotted Mimey and Koda struggling at the door a frown forming on his face as he picked the books up into his arms, Rummy still on his heels as he strolled over to the two.
"Mimey?" He asked as he paused next to two. "Where’d Jay go?" Brushing a stray strand of hair away, he glanced around before refocusing his gaze on them. He was fairly certain the cowboy had stepped back inside after leaving the first time. Or was that something else? He had to admit, he hadn’t been exactly checking who came and went from the bookstore. But if these two where here then that meant the man had to be somewhere around.

Sebastian adjusted the books in his arms as he listened to Mimey, a frown crossing his face a bit. Ah, well that made sense then. He’d somehow managed to miss the commotion while he was browsing. "I see…," He remarked. Well that was certainly a problem. Rummy gave a curious look at Mimey and then Koda, eyes growing wide as he scurried over and stared in amazement at the headphones hanging around his neck. "Whoooaaaa what are those? They look so neat! What do they do? Where'd you get them?" His tail started wiggling again, attention turning to Mimey and the door.
"I did sort of." He gestured, shifting them in his arms again as he looked down at them. "There’s the ones you and Rummy found, and I found another on some of the regions and another that specifies moves and such for contests… I think." He shrugged, stepping around the pair. "We can look them over once we’re settled down. For now…" He pushed door open, head gesturing to usher them through. "Let’s go find your trainer and make sure everything’s okay." A pokemon running off was never a good thing and while Heracross was fairly hard to miss, it didn’t hurt to make sure Jay didn’t need any help.
