Ninjutsu :: Katon :: Kaen Senpuu [ Flame Whirlwind ] :: Rank C -- Training [ - 1 post reduction to ninjustu : class ]
Pawing, once again, through her tattered notebook, Ren figured that she should get cracking with some elementally specific techniques. No better a time to practice some katon. She had many, many notes written in her little book, after a considerable amount of thought, she settled on a technique to practice. -- Once she double-checked the seals in her notes, Ren began to physically form them.
[ 1 / 4 ]
Upon completeing the seals, though she willed it, nothing happened. She waited patiently, thinking that maybe the flame had to heat up before spreading.. but still, Ren saw nothing. She frowned and threw up her arms. « Right ! Let's try again, Ren ! » She began re-structuring the seals with her fingers.. as she finished, she faintly smelled something burning.. Her eyes darted around but she saw no smoke. Instinctively, Ren violently patted down her clothing starting at her belly, then down her legs. When she stood.. she smell was stronger.
[ 2 / 4 ]
Ren felt warmth against the back of her neck. Her eyes widened and she ripped off her hooded sweater and stamped out the charred, burning hood. Her shoulders fell in defeat. The smell of burnt hair lingered. Rolling her eyes, Ren tigged her sweatshirt back on and began to breath in pattern. She focused herself and began again, this time relaxing herself.
[ 3 / 4 ]
She sealed for Flame Whirlwind once more, this time Ren's chakra would be well-focused and ready to be manipulated. As Ren took an exhilarating breath and as she did so, felt the her element swirl up, around, and spiral quickly to the tactical dummy, engulfing it in flame for a split second. Ren hopped excitedly, and clentched her fists. She was glad she had decided to take time to train today.

Bukijutsu :: Shigure Souen [ - 1 post reduction : class // - 1 post reduction : bloodline ] :: Training
Stage Two -- Last Minute Rain :: Rank D / Simple
Ren walked over to the other side of her training area and, sheathing her edge, set up another rice bag target. Making sure it was tall enough, she stacked two targets, two bags high. As she prepared herself to practice her second stage of Shigure Souen, she gripped her katana once again and took it from her belt. « Just kick it.. right.. okay.. » Ren stuck her blade out, sharply, in front of herself and dropped it and uncoordinatedly booted her right foot outward. The only noises to follow were the sounds of Ren's thick rump as it slammed and her sword clanking, then rattling, against the concrete.
[ 1 / 2 ]
Ren stood, in one hand her katana, in her other, dust and grit wiped from her pants. She readied herself once again, this time angling her body so that when she kicked, the end of the hilt would make contact with her inner foot, not the toes of her sandal. Ren dropped her katana and pulled her foot back for some momentum -- when her foot hit the sword, she felt a quick pressure and watched as the blade was propelled forward, digging straight into the center of the upper-most placed sack. Her katana shifted and there was a tiny waterfall of rice as she triumphantly strode over to retrieve it.

Bloodline Jutsu Training :: Kemuri Eda [ Smokey Limb ] :: Rank C
Sitting on the floor, in a corner of a dusty room, Ren shuffled through scratch pads and notes. She wanted to work on katon techniques but knew it would be favorable to research in her bloodline, instead. Flipping page after page, she sought her bloodline notes. Feverishly reading her jottings, her finger whizzed up and back down again with the print. Considering that Kemuri Eda was her bloodline's favored execution, Ren figured it was a good place to commence her training.

She gave her surroundings a quick glance before holding up her hand in front of her. Most of her bloodline jutsu still seemed like magic. She wasn't sure if the Iburi clan graced her with a gift or a burden, but she would try her best to honor their skill. Ren, with all her shaking might, waited for her arm to turn to smoke in front of her. Unfortunately, nothing happened. Ren shook her hands wildly in the air, huffing, letting out all her "steam."
[ 2 / 5 ] Complete.
Ren puckered her lips as she stressed her hands against the concrete. She thought that if she had a purpose her will might grow stronger. « I can totally do this.. » she mumbled. With all her might, Ren wished her little, clammy hand to turn to smoke.. but attempt after attempt, she seemed to make no progress. She pressed her hand against the material wall and felt cool air. She scanned the wall with both hands for some time before coming across a crack and tiny hole.
[ 3 / 5 ] Complete.
Ren peered through the little hole into another dark, dank training area. She saw more practice dummies, rice bags, and a spider meandering his way through the tunnle-like hole between the rooms. « Out of the way, little guy.. » She looked at her hand, clentched her fist, and watched as, beginning with the tip of her forefinger, her hand and arm dissapated into a cloudy, bluish fog. Ren stuck her smoke-hand against the hole and grinned as it liquidly drifted through the crack. Ren pulled her arm to herslef and smiled.
[ 4 / 5 ] Complete.
With much more enthusiasm, Ren's other hand turned to smoke as she willed her toes, feet, shins, then knees into a coudy figure. Ren pushed her hand back through the crack. She allowed it to swallow up her body and pass her into the next room; preceiving the ordeal was something else entirely. Ren felt as though her body were nothingness.. air.. It certainly had been less unsettling than she had expected.

Bloodline Jutsu Training :: Messhū Enrō [ Destroying Smell Smoke Prison ] :: Rank C
Ren had already drifted back through the crack with Kemuri Eda, grabbed her satchel of papers and junk, and beat foot down the hallway. She went further into the catacombs of the building, peering into each room, searching for a large enough space to work in.. she figured that if smoke prison had a 15 meter range, that a wide area would be best.

Further down the hall, her first attempt practicing, she walked out of her own plume of smoke into what seemed like a wall of abhorrent scent. Sure that it was something rotting, Ren went hunting for the source. She sniffed lightly as she searched. -- Finally finding the source of the scent, Ren threw her sleeve'd elbow over her snout and disgustedly furrowed her eyebrows, pulling her head at an awkward angle. Before her was a rat, mostly bones and hair. Pulling a charcoal stick from her bag, she poked it, the ribs falling away from the rest of the body. Ren looked around; rats were rats, find one, more could be found. She stood, stomped the ground several times, and heard scattering from off in a corner.

Bounding over to the least-well lit corner, Ren plowed her hand behind a mess of old junk and grabbed a rat by it's tail and hung him out in front of herself to analyze before stuffing him in her knapsack and buttoning it shut. Ren clasped her hands together and smoke began seeping out from within her sleeves. The thin fog whipped and whirled around before disappearing into the air. Already sure of herself, Ren knew she would be successful in just a few attempts.
[ 3 / 5 ] Complete.
Her second attempt was still futile; instead of letting the smoke flow out her sleeves, Ren had rolled them up and, instead, the smoke began rolling out the neck and body of her hooded shirt. She frowned and scolded herself for not paying attention. She would need to be more attentive, after all, shinobi weren't supposed to be clumsy, ignorant fools. – Ren tried a third time, the smoke emerging from her sweater sleeves was thick and heavy around her. It felt humid, but without heat – she cancelled the technique to test it on her newly acquired furry friend.
[ 4 / 5 ] Complete.
Ren tried once more, smoke pouring from her hands. Thicker and thicker, the cloud enveloped the entire room until the light skittering and patting from the corner ceased. She unbuttoned her bag and tossed it onto the floor, the animal inside busting out and running a short distance before sneezing and confusedly bumbling around. Ren watched the rat suffering within the smoke, coughing and choking on her smoke screen, unable to help himself or seek her for an attack. Cancelling her technique, she allowed the rodent it's escape.. and the completion of yet another bloodline technique. « I'm starving.. does this creepy place have a kitchen? »

Bloodline Jutsu Training :: Kemuri Kumo [ Smoke Cloud ] :: Rank C
« I'm starving.. » Ren murmered to herself as she left the scene of the decaying rat. Down what seemed to be endless flights of stairs, Ren came upon a large set of doubledoors which read "kitchen." She pushed past the doors and strutted in. Her stomach made mutely growled within her torso; she placed a palm on her tummy and rubbed clockwise circles as she pawed through cupboards. She pulled a small pot from inside a low cabinet and filled it with water at the ancient tap. Ren lit the fire in an old gas stove with her flint and steel and put the pot on to boil. The kitchen was empty and silent like most of the facility but it wouldn't stop her from tea and noodles -- she took from her bag a tea steep and a woven sack full of noodles. Setting them on the counter, she stuffed her hand back into her satchel and rooted around for her loose kunai and her usual scratch pad she sought advice from. [ 1 / 5 ]
Ren perused more notes as she tended the boiling water. Reserving a pint of boiled water in a tea cup, she put the pot back on the fire and dumped into it the contents of the small sack. Whilst her tea steeped and her noodles bathed, Ren plucked the kunai from her pocket and aimed it at a bulletin tacked to a wall--but retracted it before the throw. She held it in both hands. In an attempt to coat the tiny blade with smoke, Ren slipped and sliced the web between her thumb and pointer fingers. Infuriated, she pushed smoke out the gands in her wrists to coat the weapon but the smoke dispersed into the air. [ 2 / 5 ]
Setting the kunai on the countertop, Ren grabbed a pair of bamboo fork tongs from the drawer beside her and stirred the noodles once before pulling them into a bowl to cool. She had to relax. She had been training so hard the past few days that she was letting stress get the best of her. Trying once more, Ren picked the kunai up from the counter and held it between her palms and tried once again to smother it but fell short. Over and over Ren attempted to coat the weapon in smoke but each time the fog sifted between her fingers and floated away, mixing mingling with the air. [ 3 / 5 ]
Pulling a large bark-made drawing pad from her knapsack, Ren took a piece of charcoal and quickly sketched the face of a little man on one of the sheets. Though the face held no resemblance to anybody she knew, she pretended it was the boy from the academy who picked on her while she trained. Holding the knife tightly in her fist, she struck the middle of the image with ease. « Come on, Ren. Cut the crap -- all you need to do is cover it in smoke. It can't be that hard, can it ? » she asked herself. She plucked the kunai from the image, tearing the paper in it's wake. [ 4 / 5 ]
This time, Ren put forth as much effort as she could into calming her muscles and remembering to be patient. Patience wasn't something she was particularly good with, but she seemed to keep forgetting that without patience, she could never be a true shinobi. Ren tossed the kunai up in the air, caught it, and let her smoke conceal it. With a bounce in her step, she tossed the incognito knife into directly into the eye of the scribbled face -- She jumped up once, squeezing her fists together, before nonchalantly stolling up to her soup. « I'm starving.. » [ 5 / 5 ] Complete.
