Story
The world is filled with many dangers, elves, dwarfs, dragons, and more. Though normal humans poorly in these treacherous lands, humans born with the powers of magic are set apart as the rulers of the world. They are know as the magi, and they live in a city in the skies named Laputa. Laputa is a paradise where only the magi could live since their magics give them the power of flight. They rule with lives of luxury, spending their days researching or living care free lives. The races hold them in high regard, and even the faeries and dragons live as magi familiars.
Living on the ground is a completely different story. The land is rough and people poor. Every day is a fight to survive. Dragons burn down cities and steal gold, and mercenaries die by the hundreds trying to protect cities from monsters. The people on the ground hear legends about those in the sky, and the few rare Magi who do travel to the earth are considered gods for their incredible powers, whether good or bad.
But everything changed when the people on the ground developed a new technology, causing an industrial revolution. New weapons took down the human's enemies easier, and life became better for those below. Aviation suddenly became possible, and it became a race to take to the skies. By the time the magi had discovered this development, it was too late. The magic-less people had developed airplanes, gliders, and air ships, thus taking to the skies and threatening the magi's way of life.
And in no time at all, it broke into all out war. The normal people were jealous of the magi's paradise and power, and threatened to kill them all and take the skies to themselves. The magi wished to maintain their paradise and position as rulers over the land away from the 'barbarian land dwellers' who wished to steal it from them.

The World
This story is magic vs steampunk, post renaissance era. Weapons of choice are generally enchanted weapons for magi and non-enchanted weapons for land dwellers. Land dwellers do have guns, the best being rifles and pistols of the pre-WWI era. Human cities are built like castle towns and the world is wild, filled with forests and sprites. The setting is very much like skyrim or other deep fantasy games with a vast variety of races. Airships, airplanes, and cars do exist, and are beginning to be quite common and reliable. Still, mechanics are quite handy for when things break down. Normal people usually work on farms or in factories, and they generally get around by walking, riding horses, or taking simple mechanical modes of transportation. Bandits are common everywhere, but there is no shortage of mercenaries that can be hired as escorts.
Races
Humans [Magi]: Magic using humans who rule the world and live in Laputa. Because of air raids, some have escaped to the world below to seek help from the others races against the land dwellers. They have a wide variety of magics, but it is limited to their stamina and intelligence. Casting spells also takes quite a bit of time for them, so they tend to keep enchanted weapons and items in case of emergency.
Humans [Land Dwellers]: Humans can not use magic, and are fighting to control Laputa. They are more physical then the Magi, and make great mercenaries and mechanics. They are a well rounded mortal race, though considered weaker then most others.
Elves: Immortals skilled at spells and enchantments who live hidden in the woods. They are known for grace, intelligence, and dexterity, but not for brute strength, much like the magi.
Faeries: Spirits of the forest who assist the elves or work as magi familiars. They are tiny, crafty, and possess great magic, but they are extremely delicate and short lived.
Dwarfs: Long lived mortals of short stature, generally with long beards. Dwarfs are expert craftsmen who live in the mountains. They are known for their brute strength and rough nature. Magi often go to them to help them craft weapons in exchange for magical knowledge, gold, or enchantments.
Dragons: Giant reptiles that possess long lives and great wisdom. Dragons commonly have a lust for gold and often wipe out dwarf mines to steal their gold. Dragons also eat land dwelling humans and are capable of great destruction. The dragons, however, are on good terms with the magi, and they share magical secrets. Rarely, powerful magi take in small dragons as familiars.
((IMPORTANT NOTE: The races are not limited to just these. These were just the ones I came up with. Feel free to be anything you want, including undead like vampires, werewolves, etc.))

Accepted Profiles:
Username: SKBCTayuyaFluteofDeath Character Name: Fynwybhair (Finn) Race: Fae Age: Two years (equivalent to 20) Allegiance: Neutral Personality: Sweet when given reason to be, crafty, sometimes quick to anger and sometimes slow to anger depending on what's happened to anger her, very much like a mother hen to those she cares about Bio: Fynwybhair (pronounced Fin-uh-veer) is a flower-born Fae. She was born in the first uncurling of the petals of a sunrise-colored rose. Like most Fae, she helps the Elves, but she really prefers to spend time in the gardens on Laputa. The robots that take care of the gardens are so quiet and peaceful, and the fox squirrels are some of her best friends. Likes: Flowers, peace, sunshine, strawberries Dislikes: Storms, chaos, fighting, smoke Any other info: Though Finn can fly, she likes to ride around on the back of a fox squirrel that she's sort of adopted as a brother. His name is Brand. Appearance: Fynwybhair
Username: Valiant Fenris Character Name: Fendrial (Fen-dree-all) the Wise. "Fen" Race: Dragon Age: 563 Allegiance: Neutral Personality: Kind hearted, he veers towards peace. He never eats humans or attacks dwarves. He hasn't taken a side, mostly because he doesn't want to fight. Bio: Some people have many theories as to how this lapis lazuli colored dragon was born, as if night was draped upon his scales. Some say he was born from the heavens, others say he was surrounded by lapis when he was born, but in truth, he was born like that. It was the color of his scales that attracted people to him, seeking either his strength or his horde of wealth. Because he had no wealth and he was strange and didn't wish to fight, all he could offer was advice. Soon after, people brought him donations of treasure for his advice, some gave him a cut of their wealth for the advice that worked in their favor, but he knew his advice was just words. He wouldn't admit it to the populace, thought, for he still enjoyed the treasure. It was from his advice and peaceful nature that he earned the title "the Wise," at such a young age (for a dragon). Likes: Cooked meat, Flying Dislikes: Fighting, Elven food (what he calls vegetables), and strangely the night. Any other info: Likes all humans and dwarves always tries to find a peaceful solution. He is an odd dragon, to say the least and finds the word "Weird" to be a compliment. Appearance:
Username: Animeprincess_9400 Character Name: Silfa Tong Race: Human Age: 27 Allegiance: Land Dwellers. For now. Personality: Silfa is something of an amoral cynic, but somehow manages to be pleasant despite it. Like, for example, she would not hesitate to stab you in the back if her life or ambitions were at stake - but she would never be smug or condescending about it. With friend and foe alike she tends to be polite and civil. In other words, an amicable opprotunist. Also, she becomes frighteningly enthusiastic and exciteable when it comes to working with tech - even moreso if it's both a weapon and her own personal innovation. Bio: Silfa is a mechanic/weaponsmith that, until recently, aimlessly roamed Laputa in the persuit of work and knowledge. If not known for her loyalties or her philanthropy, she was at least reccognised for her mechanical genius. It wasn't long until she was offered employment - with shockingly decent pay - as head mechanic for one of the rebel's many airships. Despite her reluctance to pick any one side in the Land Dwellers vs Magii dispute, the promise of daily meals and a steady supply of tools and resources to practice her trade ultimately won her over. Likes: Guns, Technology, Storybooks, Teddybears Dislikes: Going Hungry, Politics, Idealism, Lacking Technology For Too Long Any other info: Silfa is taller than most women and, due to her habit of wearing high heels, often towers over men as well. Appearance: [x]
Username: Smells_like_A_Cookie Character Name: Koi Menos Race: Human/Elf Age: 20 Allegiance: Neutral Personality: He is a bit stern and rude but mostly because he doesn't know better. He will usually try to become friends with those he is fond of. Bio: Koi's mother died giving birth to him, his father, unfortunately was executed for harboring a Magi refugee. Koi didn't suffer the same fate as them, he, instead was left to fend for himself in the slums as punishment. He has been on his own almost his entire life, learning to survive and develop skills. Although his mother was a natural at using magic, Koi hasn't tried to develop his Magi skills, especially when he lived alongside the Land Dwellers. may as well be a death sentence... Koi hasn't decided what to do in the war, he never received help from the Magis or Land Dwellers so why should he help either of them back? Likes: Cakes and sweets, then their is the occasional beauty that catches his eye Dislikes: The Slums. Any other info: Unfortunately living on his own has led to him becoming a thief...not that he is proud of it.. Appearance:
Username: ninja-boi92 Character Name: Jorva Gaidoshov Race: Human Age: 25 Allegiance: Land Dwellers Personality: On his own, he can be very quiet. Almost stoic. He can easily lose himself in whatever he's doing, retreating, almost, into his mind. With others, he tries to be at least somewhat pleasant and approachable, but will take a firm attitude if absolutely necessary. On the field, whether fighting or dealing with serious problems, he almost flips into a different state. Fiercely loyal, overwhelmingly determined, and if necessary, brutally aggressive. Bio: The son of a pair of weaponsmiths, Jorva was surrounded by the carving of wood, the pounding of metal, and the sounds of crafting since birth. It was only natural that, as he grew, he followed in the footsteps of his parents, taking on the craft. However, he often found himself excelling more often in the use of the weapons, rather than in their creation. He grew up in a small town, with strong familial, and national traditions. With that also came countless stories of action, adventure, and glorious conflict. As conflict with the Magi grew, so did Jorva's desire to leave his home and join the forces of the land. His skills in weapons landed him on an airship as a uniformed officer. Well, that's how he worded it. Practically speaking, he was basically a body in a uniform to increase morale in the weapons division whilst working on the ship. In conflict, he was basically one of the fighters. But he enjoyed it. Not too much responsibility, but countless chances to do useful things. Likes: Guns, weapons, adventure, freedom Dislikes: senseless violence, cruelty, utter darkness Any other info: He carries a pair of revolvers gifted to him by his father before he left his home. He ALWAYS has them on his person. Appearance: Jorva

The most well documented text states that he was a brilliant researcher from the first age of magic, and was considered the greatest of the forefathers of magic, even crafting the legendary Philosopher's Stone. But because of his controversial studies in black magic and necromancy, he was exiled to the world below. He created a dark magical tower in the world that stands in splendor, but few who venture in never return. Many still believe that he died a long time ago. Likes: Magic, research, technology, himself Dislikes: stupid people, trespassers (especially the ones seeking the philosopher stone. Any other info: He gets obsessive and giddy over his research but he is lethargic to people's feelings other then his own. Appearance: Max

Her magical power grew immensely and people fought over whether she should stay in Laputa and research or help on the warfront. Eventually she was forced to fight in the war while doing research at the same time. In the end, because everything she said or did independently was forced away from her, she lost her sense of independence and does as she's ordered without thought. Bio: Aldin recalls when Man was just beginning its existence. In those early days they revered the Dragons above all else that moved on the planet. Even then, there were humans who craved the power of the dragons. Hundreds of years would pass before any would dare to attack a Dragon. A sect of magic users, obsessed with gaining the powers of Dragonkind, devised a way to draw it from the Dragon's Soul. Many experiments were carried out in an attempt to draw this power, but the Magics were not yet fully developed, leaving them with no other option than to try and draw the Dragon's soul into their own bodies. 13 Sorcerers attempted this and only 1 survived, the rest, turned to ash, the survivor, whose name was lost to history, was strong enough in body to contain the might of a dragon, but weak in spirit so that the soul of his victim would devour his soul and posses his body, the Dragon called Aldin was in a new and unknown state of existence. For thousands of years afterward, Aldin walked among men, observing, and in some cases, leading. However as the years, and man's arrogance grew, Aldin had had enough. Destroying several cities as proof of his superiority, Aldin disappeared, resurfacing on Laputa to observe the war the humans of Magic and Technology wage on each other, occasionally offering his services to those who he deems worthy.
