Pure Blood Ice
Male
Tivrod, Oba.
Hopes to become a Beast Master
Personality Traits:
Isolated
Roguish
Foxy

Personality and History:
Kiyelt is isolated because of his species and segregation from the other peoples he believes ice to be dominant over all but does not have all the facts straight yet as he has never been around the other races enough to really understand who they are and be able to accept them. He has mostly been with other young ice people and so has no clue about the other colorful species that inhabit the same continent. So if he comes off as arrogant its because he is unlearned.
He is also not the greatest at social borders or limitations. He does things that stun the elders, he is not afraid to take the bull by the horns. And has become an annoying pest. Some call him brave others call it stupidity.
Despite his ineptitude with boundaries he is very clever and tactical which makes him a powerful adversary. He is strong and fast but his real weapon is his mind, it solve riddles and problems fast which gives him an edge in competitions. He uses his natural resourcefulness to get tasks done fast and well.
He also snores, feels a connection with animals, is popular and spoiled but can work hard without complaint, clever resourceful smart for the most part, he fells animals are misunderstood and more intelligent then they are given credit for. He will also be loyal but he needs to make friends outside of his tiny social circle.
Description: Gems on the left left side only, many on his chest under the collarbone and a few on his thigh. Ice blue hair. Blue skin.
Clothing: Fur cloak with dark brindle stripe down the back, think black backed jackal, with sleeves stopping three quarters up bicep , a two inch gap at the shoulders where knots of ranks would be on a uniform, ends connecting well under collarbone showing part of chest and most of collarbone. Small shorts cover one quarter down thigh, bare torso except for where the cloak covers about 3-4 inches of chest. High boots end just below knees.
Accessories: his cloak is his most prized possession
History: Kiyelt is from a well to do family in zena. He has always been with either his family, or his friends which consisted of other popular ice children. His disagreability with society life has made him and his stunts a thorn in the elder's sides. His parents grew exasperated with rolling their eyes and trying to change him and teach him values. So he was sent out to travel because it would be good for him apparently but he suspects it was to end the mischief and pain of having to deal with him. The conditions being that he meet one person of either gender of each of the races. They hope this exposure to travel, other cultures and new areas will help iron him out and show him how to appreciate the different peoples.

Okay easy questions first, the clothes are what he wears into the south a lighter version of his ice land wardrobe and in his mind the only way he will be comfortable in the land of endless heat.

His popularity is with a group of other ice teens, no wind, the others of his group felt the same way to varying degrees some more so then others.

His people in general were the ones who instilled the mistrust and superior feelings for the other races, his parents however disagree with the views of the rest of their race, they have tried to explain that there is good and bad in each race not just the ice tribe. However since his parents are only two in a large majority he feels his idea's justified, he also is under some peer pressure from his friends on this topic, and would rather agree with them as he is worried that if he were to disagree he would loose his friendship and standing. A lot of the ideology would have been cemented from his younger friends the others who strongly believe in it. Those of their group who only mildly agree don't often argue with the ones who are more deep set with it.

The elders are exasperated at his bold uncouth behavior. He will outright pester them and they have tried punishment but don't want to make it too harsh because his parents are respected warriors in their own right, so often his punishment falls to his parents, although the elders themselves have tried a few things, none of which have broken his spirit.

His parents feel he needs lessons that only life can give. As their admonitions fall on deaf ears, and they think the further from his little clique he is the better, perhaps if he gets an emotional attatchment with those outside his race in the form of friendships even love would greatly alter the cottonheaded aloofness that he has contracted.

He places animals in a completely different category then the humans, they follow the savage laws of nature but do so to live to survive not to be cruel in a sense, it seems to him a purer system less troubled by frivulous traditions.

Spread My Wings ... And Be Punted From the Nest

Kilyelt came home form a jaunt with his five close Ice tribe friends, they had had a long merry day of walking in the wilderness and talking to their hearts content. Kiyelt walked into his parents dwelling a modest but well made establishment that snubbed its nose at all the but worst winter storms. His fell off at the look of their serious faces, "Wat? I didn't do it this time, whatever it is," he proclaimed. His parents did that thing where they looked at each other and raised their eyebrows in tandem, then they looked at him again, his mother tapping her foot softly. Kiyelt felt a muscle in his face twitch this was not going to be good,... whatever "this' was, they still hadn't told him. "Well come on, out with it."

"Kiyelt we have tried for years to teach you that everyoe has a unique soul despite their race and that that is what should be appreciated. You have refused to look close enough. You have learned many valuable things."
His father picked up his mother's train of thought, "Enough that we think you are fully capable of surviving easily on your own, we are both proud and chagrined. The elders are about ready to corral you and place you under watch to stop your more uncouth behaviors." His mother again, "And despite what other sticks the mud may say in town, we know there are many others outside of Zena and yes outside the ice tribe, worthy of the same respect we give you and you give to us. And so my son, we are charging you to go out away from Zena and meet at least one male and one female of each race, for the Alkidikes the male will have to be a mixed boy. We want you to bring us back the story of each, before coming back here to live."

His father chimed in , "You can visit of course but for no more than a sevenday, then you must resume your quest."
"Don't I get a say in this?" Kiyelt whined.
"Not Really unless you don't value your status as a son of Zena, proud to be held within her embrace who would take this opportunity to make her proud."
This statement from his father irked his pride alright.
"I'll need provisions."
His father plunked a huge backpack on to the table, "All right here, enought for three quarters of a moon cycle if you are careful. You will want to stash your extra clothes in a cache when you near our borer, it is unfathomably hot if I recall correct," he looked at his mate for confirmation.
"Oh yes, it is." She agreed, "make sure you keep your cantene full when water is near, there is no snow always handy to melt, winter or not in some places."

"Oh goody I'm being sent into a buggy furnace from the sounds of things."
"Not all plaves have bugs, but those that do, have them in abundance. Good eating."
"Eww."
"Don't knock it till you have had it roasted over flame!" His Dad chided, a big fan of his mothers cooking.
"Alright, okay, fine I'm going, tell my friends I'm on an extended vacation in the North."
"Nah, the whole point of this excersize is to discover truths. Lying to your friends, or worse making us lie is not the way to go about it."
"Off you go, we love you."
"Sure you do," but he hugged them and kissed his mom's cheek before dragging the heavy pack onto his back and walking out the door. Waving he set out to fulfill his quest.
His parents smiled, proud that he hadn't outright refused to go.
Kiyelt breathed in the crisp, sharp air, his nostrils flaring, this was home, this was where he belonged, his heart sang here, and no insect infested forest was going to change that.

He walked through the crisp snow, thinking that, at the very least this was a chance to meet the myriad of creatures of the different biomes he would be entering. He had always wanted to see a sailscale for instance and had heard wonderous tails about a carnivore called a radaku. The creatures of Zena itself were interesting, he liked the mammu and the raptrix. He enjoyed watching them and fancied himself maybe riding a mammu one day. Their deep resonating calls echoed nicely and they were easy to find because of their size.

His mind often wandered to animals like this, it kept his brain happy during the somewhat monotonous task of walking... by himself...for forever. He knew why he had been sent, his parents had made that clear, but it was still a shock. It had come somewhat out of the blue for him. Sure he had been a prat to the elders but it was all good fun, a little fight for freedom, dominance, what have you. As for his opinion of the other races it was easy to feel superior when your people were all you had really known, and hearing and joking about vague rumors of odd customs was commonplace. Where all his deeds really enough to warrent his being kicked out? No, he thought not, but one thing he did do was respect his parents authority when it mattered, if not on social opinions. They were after all the odd Ice people out, having traveled out of Zena and met and grown fond of other tribes instead of becoming a permanent Zena ice sculpture like many of his friends parents had.

That they had met down south after not even knowing each other beforehand said alot to Kiyelt. Down in foreign lands and still falling for another of the Ice tribe. They said it was true love, he said it was common sense. In the end they agreed to disagree. That he hadn't found anyone all that interesting in Zena had them snickering behind his back, he was sure.

Ugh parents.

After a very long walk, Kiyelt made it too the border of Zena. It seemed to get warmer with every mile and as per his parents instructions, he took off a lot of his clothing, leaving short shorts and his cloak, which could also serve as a blanket at night. He felt somewhat naked like this, but it would be better then constant sweat. He bundled his extra clothes up in a ball and stored them on what he was sure was the Zena side of the border. On his way into Sauti lands he passed what looked like a snowball warzone. Arching a brow he kept walking, snow was for melting and decorating the landscape, not being hurled into each others faces. At least there was still snow here. He marched off into Sauti, indignant at the lack of decorum being displayed by his own people. Granted his "team", those standing on the Zena side, looked like they were doing well, from the peppered appearance of the other side. Come to think of it, there were a few other races fighting for Zena. Shifters for sure, they were the wrong color blue. He rolled his eyes, his parents would be delighted. But a Snowball storm was not the setting for him to introduce himself to the other peoples.

A Sailscale In Distress

Kiyelt hiked up the side of the mountain. It had rocks of every size decorating the long incline and he had to keep watch so he didn't turn an ankle on the traitorous terrain, there was a ridge up ahead and he could hear squawks and jabbering coming from around it, maybe he had finally found the lair of the sailscales. But it didn't sound like there were very many around, he thought there would be clouds of them flying around and bickering at each other. He shook his head, he would find out once he got up there, but for now one foot in front of the other.

He smiled a bit as he thought about the wind male he had met not long ago. Charming fellow, full of sunshine and good things and nothing else. It was hard not to like him. In fact he thought that would be a lot more effort to not like him then it would be to get along. That kind of happiness was just infectious. He hoped to one day have that close relationship with a familiar as Nuawahn had with his campramel. He smiled at that thought.

Kiyelt took a bad step and slide a few feet back down the mountain, amid a flurry of fast paced curses he powered his way back up to where he had been, this time placing his feet more carefully. Just like a mountain two steps forward and three back. He grumbled under his breath and kept listening to the sailscale calls, he couldn't wait to finally see some. Wait, did those calls seem to be getting weaker? He doubled his efforts and rounded the ridge. His jaw dropped at the site that greeted him. A big patch of mud was settled in what looked like an old cairn lake bed. In the center of this patch was a very grumpy looking sailscale. Her eyes rolled showing the whites, so not only was she furious at being stuck she was petrified too. He walked over slowly trying not to scare her and wondered why she had gotten stuck in the mud in the first place. He looked around and saw some rodent prints, evidentaly the little critters of the area were light enough to walk on the crusted part of the mud hole but those who attempted to hunt them sunk deep.

She screeched at him, unacustomed to seeing ice tribe up here, maybe any tribe, it was pretty remote up here, the sailscales and silence being the only obvious reasons for venturing this high. "Its okay, milady, I don't want to hurt you." In truth her pathetic state just made him want to weep. Mud coated the majority of her hide and half her face, she glared at him through bright yellow eyes which somehow had avoided getting contaminated with mud. The delicate membrane of her wings was bogged down in the mud and he could see her muscles straining ineffectually to pull them out. Mud was a danger to all not just light beings and there was no way she could pull herself out. He kept talking, muttering soothing nonsense to her. Meanwhile he carefully and slowly got closer, grabbing a stick he was soon able to reach out to her with it. She glared at him and at the stick and struck out at it.

"Its not like you can get out yourself little mountain queen, I'm here to help your highness." She scrunched up her face but then latched onto the stick, he tried pulling but she was a delicate thing and he feared hurting her. Nothing else for it then. He would have to get in and get her out. He prodded the patch with his stick, It seemed that she had gotten stuck in the shallow end, his stick hit bedrock at about a foot, it was enough for her to get stuck but hopefully not enough for him. He peeled off the protective footwear he had donned to combat the sharp rocks of the mountain and winced as he sunk to his knee. That much mud was not a pleasant feeling between ones toes and all the way up ones calf. Blegh. He balanced on that leg and stepped out with the other, using the stick he could just barely pull his leg out and step again.

He reached her relatively soon, which was good because this was exhausting after climbing half the freaking mountain. He unstuck her wings and pulled her up to wrap around his body. Now the fickle female crooned at him, realizing he wasn't attacking. Now he was knee deep in mud, stick in hand and had a wriggling sailscale glued onto his torso, Not the easiest get up to move around in. He almost fell making an about face but made it to shore to fall in a heap against a rock, now almost as covered as the sailscale had been.

"Now what does this teach us? No more hunting around mud puddles, you hear?"

She crooned again in reply and rubbed the muddy side of her face against his.

"Gee thanks, but you are welcome anyway." He stood up and went over to an area that had fresh water and was more sandy then muddy, he set her down and cleaned off her wings, while she complained at him. Then he set her aside and washed the mud off himself. She flapped wet wings at him.

"Well you have to wait for them to dry, here," he grabbed some of the dried meat he had gotten for this journey and offered her some. Surprisingly she scarfed it down right away. "You must have been here for longer then I thougth huh, to accept food so readily from a stranger." He munched some of the meat himself, and watched her try to preen the water away. Now that the mud didn't cover her, he could see how beautiful she truly was. A stunning specimen. "You are really beautiful, you know that? I wonder what your comrades look like." Se chirped in reply and continued grooming.

It was so rewarding working with the creatures of his land, he enjoyed his time with her, maybe he should be a beast charmer and do stuff like that for a living, work with all the different kinds of critters the lands had to offer. That would be his path, and it would keep him occupied while on this hairbrained quest his parents had given him. Exhausted he set up camp, his thoughts swirling happily around this prospect. He fell asleep quickly and awoke the next morning to the sailscale sitting on his chest staring at him. Her snout scant inches from his face. He had been sure she would flutter away the moment her wings dried, but this wasn't the case. She gurgled at him happily. "Glad I'm awake are you? Will you continue to follow me or float back up to your nest later?" She just stared. "Okay okay I'm up!"

She was a dusky rose color with brighter pink swirls, so she was easy to see unless the sun was setting, as he made himself breakfast, she did flamboyant cartwheels, disturbingly close to his head, until he offered her some more meat. At which point she flew right into his chest wrapped her wings about him just as she had last evening and took the food right out of his hand. "Well you are quite personable once you warm up arn't you?" He asked with a big grin on his face. He knew he would like sailscales, "Just don't tell your friends I can't handle four or five of you trying this stunt at once."

He smiled at her, maybe he would ask one of the people he met to climb with him to see the rest of the sailscales, that might be safer if the mountain was this treacherous.

Peace, Quiet, Serenity, Storm Fall.

Kiyelt was dripping sweat in the Jahaur forest, he had stopped his quest for lunch and on a whim had climbed one of the soaring old trees and now sat cradled on a large branch. He let his legs hang down on either side of the branch and relaxed. It was peaceful here. He could listen to the sounds of the forest, uninterrupted by those of his own species. No talking, no giggling and no gossip. He took deep breaths and just soaked the peace in. It wasn't that he didn't like company but being this alone was a novelty. When he was at home he was constantly surrounded by friends and family.

Kiyelt could smell rain on the wind. Indeed when he looked up huge thunderheads were roiling towards him. He loved the storm greys and blues, the colors of nature's fury. Givers of rain and fire. He hoped the rain would be cooler then the jungle was right now. He waited patiently for the storm to break and watched as the territorial clouds chased the sun from the sky, jealous of it touching the earth with its rays of hot light. It was their turn.

War was coming. It whispered its approach at the markets, from traveller's words and made its way into homes where potential warriors slept. This however would be a hellfire that no single great storm could clense with life giving water. This would not be such a simple fix. Kiyelt brought his fur higher on his shoulders and held his breath as the storm began pouring down its liquid fury. He exhaled as lightning cracked a jagged whip across the sky chased by thunder.

Kiyelt thought about his parents, would they join the damn of tendaji holding back the fiery flood of Oba? If those at the main front failed who would protect the villages?

Kiyelt thought that this time his father would not leave his mother. This was not a squirmish for mercenaries in need of a little amusement. His father would not risk the loss of laughter in his mother's eyes by leaving her to fight this time. What would happen if he left and she was caught alone?

Kiyelt shied away from that thought and jumped as a bird flew off, he hadn't realized it had been so close to him. He watched as it flew, or rather glided to a crown lower then the swaying giant Kiyelt was ensconced in. It had bright yellow and red feathers and claws on its wings.A saturated blue ring of feathers encircled its neck at the base. Now that was a distracting bird. Would the Shifters and the Ice stand out like that bird to become easy targets? Or would the others stand out those with creamy skin? He knew so very little about Oba and that drove him a bit crazy with worry. Their strength, their skills, their weapons, their motives, all were a mystery to him. What were they up against? Really the only reassuring thing was that Oba didn't look very big on the map, if that blank spot was indeed Oba.

Thouroughly unsettled he started nibbling on his lunch and brooding in such way that his mother would have been trying to pry out his thoughts and his father would be telling her to leave him alone. He wasn't sure if he missed the pestering during these times at all, but he definitely missed the comfort of knowing he could talk and someone would listen

So much for peaceful reflections. The storm shattered and blew, rain sheeted down. He was now well and truly soaked and hopped over to other trees, finally finding a cozy hollow to curl up in and watch the rest of the storm. He wrung out his poor fur coat. He liked the rain but was fond of dry warmth as well.

He wondered how he would fight with a whip. It would be more of a manipulation thing then a flail them to their bones. He could hold someone for the close attack fighters to take care of. He made a face. Violence...for his home, for his people and for the others of Tendaji that he was starting to love. Nua he thought, probably couldn't hurt a fly, and to protect people like him, Kiyelt would.

Beast Charming Solo 001
Father Figure

Kiyelt stood on the edge of the battlefield of a few days before. This battle had been awfully short in comparison to the one that had taken place before. This time they had known what to expect of the battle, add that to wounded pride and a great deal of desperation plus a sprinkle of guerilla warfare and you got the results they had seen. With no small help from the Matori lady and the fantastic Yaotl they had triumphed long enough for a treaty to be made. He still wanted one of those. He would love to see it in its aquatic habitat. Speaking of which he wondered what his parents new terms would be with the revelation of two new peoples in Tendaji. Talking with an Oban after facing their might in battle could be very difficult, while on the other hand he would love to visit Matori. Then again, one thing his task had taught him was that one’s opinion changed greatly when one changed the people one hung around with . The only ice tribe member he knew relatively well down here in the er tropics, was Ruelash and although Kiyelt was somewhat fond of the other man they seemed to fight every time they saw each other. What did that say about their culture? About them? How much of it was simply due to personality? So many questions that were so hard to answer.
Kiyelt kicked a strip of fabric that seemed to have been torn off of someone’s wardrobe during the battle, shifter colors. From what he had experienced shifters were a gentle people that could fight when pushed but he had not met that many. In that first battle the shifter he fought beside, his name had been Sauron, had gone untouched but then had raced to his girlfriend when she had fallen in the arger lines. This time he had not seen Sauron but he thought he had seen Kelina. He wondered what had happened to Sauron to remove him completely from the battle.
Looking up he saw a sturdy form striding through the mists of the battlefield. Squinting, Kiyelt tried to get a lock on the others face but eventually it was his father’s stride that gave him away, the rocking saunter that disturbingly ate more ground then it looked like it should. Kyelt secretly glad to see his father morped his posture ti imitate his mother, hadnd placed indignantly on his hips and his legs spread apart.
“You’re late!” He squeaked up at his father in a naggin way. His fathers rolling laugh thundered fver the empty battlefield and Kiyelt grinned at him. He was very glad to see him, it was such a surprise too. Ilyet thumped him on the shoulder in greeting “I knew you were down here to keep tabs on things. And I hearyou did a bang up job, in light of this your mother and I have decided to retract your taks, you are welcome home anytime now.”
Kiyelt’s jaw dropped and he felt a weight that he hadn’t really known was there, he realized that said arrangement had been a bit stressful.
He hugged his father hoping no one was looking, his parents had never cared about showing affection for each other in public but Kiyelt was easier to embarrass.
“So where is your girl?”
Kiyelt blushed an attractive shade of maroon.
“Shes around somewhere.”
“Not trying to smother the poor girl then, good lad. Ladies need their space. I would know, I was quite a ladies man ahem...then I met your mother and knew she was for me.”
Kiyelt listened somewhat amused, somewhat disbelieving, his mother had had a very different impression of his “young ladies man” image. His speech would have left her rolling on the floor in peeling bouts of mirth. He rolled his eyes at his father’s big grin.
“How is mom anyway?”
“Oh fine, fine, when I left she was tracking a new herd of mammu, personally I think it is because they were purple but she says otherwise. ‘Tis why I am not a beast charmer.”
Kiyelt thought his father might have gotten a bit lonely on his long walk from Zena.
“You should have seen the battle, I think due to desperation partly the Vangard fell almost instantly which due to the way the battle actually ended is a shame.”
“Now you see, Kiyelt. Views about others change once you open your mind. I am glad this war ended on a treaty, not all of them do, and in the end when you realize you have eliminated a whole group of people who had lives, families, ect. Over something that when you look at it form a different point of view wasn’t really yours alone to begin with. Land for example may be “possessed” by someone but they are seldom the only one who lives there. And if other things lived there before you got there is it really your land?”
Well father was in a fine fettle today. Kiyelt thought he understood. It was easier to think of now. “Sometimes you still have to fight though. I wasn’t about to risk my families’ life to slavery or worse.”
“Yes the street walks both ways, the Obans are not thinking the same as me and your mother are. I can see the need for more space but I can’t condone slavery.”
Walking back to where he had started sleeping, a bit further into Tale then the war camp had been, he still glowed in the presence of his father. He hadn’t felt homesick until he had seen his father. His parents lived an exuberant vivacious life with each other. They thought deeply, loved deeply, and let negativity roll off them. He admired that about them and wished he could change to be more like them. He didn’t think pessimism or realism fit what he was perhaps a mixture of both. About this time just before he and his father stepped into his tent, Kiyelt was hit with two shrieking, cawing, and chattering missiles. His father got a good laugh out of that until two pairs of glittering eyes turned to him. Iniu led the charge and soon Kiyelt was laughing too.

Beast Charmer Solo 002
Finding the Desert

Well it was official, he had had enough of Jauhar and its denizens, he packed up all of his gear and his sailscales, gathered enough food and water for a lengthy arid trip and headed out. The further he got from the deep Jauhar forest the better he felt. It was true that he and Yelena had exchanged pet names for each other but that was as far as they had gotten so far. He was frustrated thus his vacation to Oba. Perhaps not the smartest place for an icling to go but he had survived Jauhar's heat, wet as it was. At least humidity wouldn't be a problem in Oba, but shrivelling up like a prune would be. He wasn't looking forward to that but the creatures down there were like a palpable pull tugging on his heart. Exotic and new, mysterious and unique, he was ready to find them and hopefully make a few his own. He sent word of to Sauron via sailscale and ate lunch and rested until Norcrest returned. Sauron was the radaku expert he could catch one himself. Norcrest sailed into camp, it was time at last. He started moving again, his familiars perched on his body for comfort. As it turned out he was further into Jauhar then he had originally thought and had to give up and make camp when he lost the light.

He had believed he was much closer to the edge, maybe it was the tack he was taking. The next day when he came across a pair of shifters, they told him he had turned himself around somehow and been heading south, eventually he would reach Oba this way. At least now he had an explanation for why it had taken so long. Kiyelt chalked it up to one to many nights in the jungle. Going in the right direction this time it wasn't long before he started to see the changes in the jungle that indicated the desert was getting closer. Soon he was walking on fine red sand which was beautiful but hard to walk in. His sailscales seemed to really like the heat and took long flights high on the thermals which would be invaluable to him for scouting purposes.
He wanted to fine things out here but first he needed a source of water and food, he couldnt deplete his travel stores in such an unpredictable environment. Norcrest came back from a sojourn excited like he had seen something in the distance that he felt should be investigated properly, Kiyelt set off in the direction his sailscale had arrived and soon came upon the small Oban forestry town of Tivrod. Kiyelt gaped a little at the huge tree that was being dismantled by buff dark skinned Obans. It was definitely interesting and he admired their industry, walking was hard enough in this heat never mind logging. Of course there didn't seem to be enough Obans on the treeat the moment perhaps the night shift was busier in the coolness of the dark.
Would make it harder to see though... The logistics made him glad he wasn't a carpenter. He set himself up on the outskirts of town,it didnt look like anyone else from the north was here and as such he got quite a few curious spectators. He chatted with a few and got directions ofr some kind of cat creatures. It sounded like the perfect start to his Oban beast charming expedition...perzi. He was told they were a strongly pack oriented animal which would be interesting. Teeth, claws but no protective fur...hmm, would be different that was for sure, which was what he was aiming for.
Iniu and Norcrest were spoiled abominably during his stay in Tivrod, he didn't think many people had seen the Sauti natives here if anyone. He rubbed sunblock over them and his self until he was sure they were all well protected. When his sailscales were not flying or eating they were sleeping soundly in the warmth, which was more often then not. He would have to keep an eye on them, least they get fat. Fat sailscales would have issues flying snd hunting for themselves, which would reflect badly on him as a Beast Charmer. Not thst he didn't take the odd nap himself, in this heat it was hard not to. He gave them two days to acclimatize to the heat as we as prepare himself for another journey into the less homely parts of the desert. Apparently these perzi creatures or at least the local ones dwelt in a rocky canyon area a ways out of town. The walls of the canyon gave them shade so their skin would not burn he presumed. It would suck to be hairless in the desert....oh wait. He shook his head at himself, so the desert wasn't the best place for him, neither was Jauhar snd he had done just fine there, he could be stubborn if he wanted to darn it.

Beast Charming solo 003
Hardened and Recast

Kiyelt felt harder, stronger, wiser and older as a result of living in Oba so long, it felt like a second home with this first home of course being Zena. He was more serious now, more practical, it helf like it had been a long time since he had been a prentice, ages in fact but he was as of yet still a Beast Charmer who had yet to charm anything besides Yelena and a pair of naughty, cuddly sailscales and to tell the truth they were not even that naughty anymore. At the very least he wasn’t still loosing his battles so much, this made him proud. He had perhaps started to earn the respect of the animals through sheer stubborn determination, and besides the emotional conncetions which may later translate into a bond the amount of knowledge about Oban fauna was his most valuable prize. He knew Leatherback;s range like the back of his hand now and was mostly allowed to range over it freely, the big male was kind enough to let him pick his own fights, seemingly having figured out that he didn’t actually want to harm their persons.
He wondered about what would happen when he returned back to Tendaji for the most part he tried not to think about whether or not Yelena would be there, they had their problem and the indescision, felt like a poison to him, slowly infecting his mind, so he packaged it all up in a box in his head, and didn’t let it out. He very much wasnted to be her man...he shook his head. Yes, best not to think about it.
He wondered what was going on in the rest of Oba, did the treaty still hold, had there been any more skirmishes? At times it was wonderful to be isolated from any of the big cities but it could be a big bore when news took its sweet time to mosey on into town. It might be time soon to travel to a bigger city, he asked someone for a map and poured over it. The first question was, did he travel through Oba back to the border and cross back into Tendaji, or did he stay in Oba and pursue his goal until he actually managed to tame one of her wild critters? He asked for descriptions of the other towns and cities of Oba and was interested in one far to the south that was apparently more full of water then normal, it would be a nice change from oceans of sawdust which seemed to have a happy partnership with sand.
He had volunteered a couple days to help iwth the wood processing and as lame as he was at it he thought that at least some of the people respected him for it, and the resultant free comedy they all enjoyed. He sighed and wondered where his true place was, Zena, Oba, Jauhar, Tale, Sauti? The only place he was 100% sure was not for him was Chibale Island, and that was because the alkidikes would happily kick him out. Maybe in a few weeks if he hadn’t tamed on of leatherback’s family he would head to this city of waters, for new information on Oba and a change of scenery and most of all some news...on anything. He gave the map back with a thank you and proceeded back to his tent to proceed to doodle in the sand. Two weeks would get him enough time to prepare for such a long journey, which would of course go easier if he managed to tame companion between now and then. He had his heart set on a janarim or a perze of course but he would not say no to a Xaraan.
Iniu chose that point to lan happily in the middle of his doodle art. He smiled, she had such a way with him, in one fell swoop she reminded him that he was not alone here, he had her and Norcrest who sat not far away, preening. He called Iniu onto his lap and found some dried food for her which she ate greedily. Norcrest too his turn after her, then Kiyelt had his own meal.
Kiyelt woke up two days later to see the face of what he thought to be one of the most beautiful janarim in the deser. Adter a late night spat of taming he had finally managed to tame one of Oba’s creatures and a janarim at that, his breast filled with pride, he had finally accomplished something. He sat up dislodging the two sailscales which were somewhat leary of their new companion but the three hadn’t ha d a scarp in the middle of the night for which he was very grateful. He yawned and reached out a hand to him beseechingly, the janarim obluded and Kiyelt decided to name him, he couldn’t just keep calling him “the Janarim.” He considered the names he had given to their parents but shook his head, he didn’t look like a leather anything, more like his mother Moon Rock, then again he was white so Kiyelt settled on Skiyaii Ramoon or “Sky Moon” which seemed to fit with his coloring quite well. “There Skiyaii now you have a name. Where do you think we should go lad? Deeper into Oba? Try to catch a perzi? Back to Tendaji? Hmmm.”
Skiyaii grunted at him, and Kiyelt scratched his head affectionately , it felt amazing, like new doors had opened for him and finally taming a creature seemed to vindicate his choice of Beast Tamer. He felt that his parents would be proud of him for sticking to his goals and for achieving them, now he had to choose his next endeaver, maybe a perzi on a Xaraan. Xaraan were really hard to, but if he could defeat and win over a janarim then perhaps he would be fortunate enough to tame another creature here, He still didn’t particularly want to go back to Jauhar and face his failure at radaku training, for some old reason the funk he had been in while in Jauhar, was less effective here. Here where no iceling should be happy, he found that he was. He regretted that he was so far south here that it was very unlikely that his parents would make the trip down. Eventually he would go back, but for now he was content to play in his over sized sandbox. Then he wondered about desert type familiars and heat lost in a polar climate like Zena possessed. He smirked as he thought of the sweaters he had made for his sailscales blown up extra large and adorning a janarim, now that would be a sight to attract a huge crowd, that was if the janarim didn’t rip it into shreddies at the indignity. He wondered if their body heat would be able to compensate for the cold. The desert did get cold at night after all. Perhaps with a diet heavily supplemented with fat. Who knew, he would find out and if Skiy couldn’t handle it, Kiyelt would find a baby sitter, maybe his favorite shifter family would be able to look after him for a while. It was something to think about.
