The Battle System isn’t too complicated, but listed below are the basics to setting up your Battle! If you have any concerns while in battle, please contact Fluffesu right away and we'll help you out.

If you still have questions after reading through this page, as well as the other information provided in this forum, please feel free to visit this thread with further inquiries.

Before You Begin

Only Approved Characters that have reached the Second Stage of growth may battle.

In order to battle, you need to set up statistics for your character. If you haven’t set up your stats already, you will need to do so here before you can begin.

If you have accomplished the previous steps, you should already have a complete journal set up. Be sure to keep track of your battles in the “Battle Log” section of your journal.

Battles are not RP-required, but those who RP will be awarded more experience for their pains.

Thread Titles

Like with the RP Area, battles can take place anywhere in Tendaji.

Please set up your One-on-One battle thread titles as follows:

[Character Name] vs [Character Name] – [Battle Location]

Ex. Antiope vs Eshe - Jauhar

If you are having a Group/Team Battle, you may set up your titles in one of two ways:

1) [Simple Title] - [Battle Location]
2) [Team Name] vs [Team Name] - [Battle Location]

First Posts

The very first post of the thread should again briefly set up the battle participants and the battle location.

For a One-on-One Battle, the following will suffice:
|| A battle between [Character Name] and [Character Name] in [Battle Location].

For a Group/Team Battle, you will need to list which characters are on which team, regardless of whether or not you have decided on a "Team Name."

|| A battle between [Team Name (Member A, Member B, Member C)] and [Team Name (Member 1, Member 2, Member 3)] in [Battle Location].
|| A battle between [Member A, Member B] and [Member 1, Member 2] in [Battle Location].

Each individual character’s first post should contain:

|| Character Name
|| Stats
|| Equipped spells
|| Any items from their inventory (these must already be owned by the character)

During this first post, each person should roll for turn order (rolling can be found in battle basics).

After all of the stats have been listed and turn order has been rolled, it might be helpful to post a rolling order somewhere, just to make sure things stay in order.

After this, the battle may begin!

Unofficial Group/Team Battles

You are fully allowed to conduct team battles, where two parties can battle against one other.

These Battles are not RP-Required, but you will need to indicate, with each turn, who you are attacking/what attack you are dodging/who you are defending from what attack, etc.

In this case, the winning team will gain winning EXP, and the losing team will gain a lesser (effort-based) EXP. Once again, those who RP will receive more experience.

Experience awarded for RPing characters will be determined on an individual basis.

Note: For more information on in-battle procedures, take a look at the Battle Basics.

Ending a Battle

In a One-on-One Battle, the match has ended when one character has 0 HP or when a player forfeits.

In a Group/Team Battle, the match has ended when players on only one team still have HP remaining; the players on the opposing team have all run out of HP, or when a team forfeits.

When a battle is over, please edit the title to include the tags [FIN] or [OVR]. Once a staff member is able to overlook the battle, the participants will receive EXP.

Official battles may have larger prizes in addition to experience to vie for.

Please see the next post for experience distribution guidelines.

Important Note: You may not kill another character in battle without their permission. If a character runs out of HP, play it as a knock-out.

Experience Distribution
(updated 06.26.14)

Normal, Non-RP:
Winner: 30
Loser: 15

Normal, Basic RP:
Winner: 50
Loser: 25

Normal, In-Depth RP:
Winner: 80
Loser: 40

Team/Unofficial Group, Non-RP:
Winning Team: 35 Each
Losing Team: 20 Each

Team/Unofficial Group, Basic RP:
Winning Team: 60 Each
Losing Team: 35 Each

Team/Unofficial Group, In-Depth RP:
Winning Team: 100 Each
Losing Team: 60 Each

Meta/Official Group, RP-Required (Stackable):
Participating in Meta/Posting Stats: 15
Each Post in Meta Chapter: 5
Attacking NPC (one time per player per NPC – numerous attacks on same NPC do not stack): 10
Defending a Teammate in Battle: 10
Finishing Blow: 20
Winning Team: 40

Battling Players From Different Stages:
If a battle (whether team or one x one) involves players from different stages, there will be a slight difference in how exp is calculated.

|| One x One: The exp will read as shown (opp. stage / your stage) x normal exp.
|| Ex: Stage 2 wins against a stage 3 in in-depth RP: [(3/2) x 80] = 120exp for the stage 2 winner. [(2/3) x 40] = 26.6 (rounds to 27) for the stage 3 loser.
|| Team battles: Similar to the above, but the teams will be added together before the calculations.
|| Ex: two stage 3s vs a stage 2 and stage 3 and the two stage 3s win with no RP, : (3+2)/(3+3) x 30 = 25exp for the winners. (3+3)/(3+2) x 15 = 18exp for losers

Note: Distribution for characters who RP will be distributed on an individual basis. One person on a team/in a battle may receive experience for "Basic RP" while another person on the same team/in the same battle may receive experience for "In-Depth RP."
