The garden came alive as Bast returned. What looked to be regular boulders unfolded into enormous hoatzins that cooed at her; the pond rose up to greet her as she passed; and a couple of cats trotted out to meet her as she approached the house. She gave them--a hairless one named Asha and a bulky, furry one named Furaha--each a couple of gentle strokes as she slipped out of her shoes and socks. They tagged along as she made her way back to her bedroom, but opted to wait outside when it became clear she was going to take a shower. In the meantime, her golem escorts left to make a delivery to the Village's resource stores, but not before delivering a certain gemstone to a fleet of pens, which skittered off with it.
The shower was quick, aimed mostly at removing the sand and dirt that had made its way into her clothes over the course of her expedition. Her next change of clothes would be one she hadn't worn in a long time: the ceremonial black funerary robes provided to her when she had been Kazekage. Underneath them she wore a white kimono. In place of a sash to keep the robes closed, she used her headband--which was fairly standard for her attire--but the kimono was properly held closed by an obi. Tucked into a fold of her clothing was a spool of steel wire, and at her hip was her flask of tea--freshly brewed, the last batch having gone stale during her adventures.
She bade Asha and Furaha farewell, was met at the gate by Nyah--another hairless cat--and Hecate--a skeleton cat moved by unknown means that was, honestly, still quite frightening. She greeted them and said her goodbyes all in a matter of seconds, then headed toward the graveyard.
