I was playing Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness (an ironic name, now that I think about it) when I realized there are no happy coules in this game. If you get married you might be stealing another person's one and only true love. If they have no rival, the other person without a rival could very well just die alone.
Every single character (faceless don't count, they're not important enough) is single, except Eliza and Charlie. But they're kinds and will likely drift apart when they're older. Or worse, stay just friends because they're forever young.
The only person to find love is the player. Everyone else will just die alone. Unless you get the rivals together, they're an exception.
Maybe the island attracts middle-ages singles? Like those cruises?
Discuss.
