it used to be, a couple centuries ago, that those who could afford it would travel, to say Greece or Egypt, to "broaden the mind".
i just had a very long trip and it was interesting, but the only part of me which feels much broader is my hips, from sitting all that time.
so how do you feel about this? is travel necessary any more to be an "educated" person, or is that ll in the past?

i just enjoyed a train trip from eastern NY to San Francisco.
this country is so damned big, you cannot truly imagine it.
and the parts are each unique, and beautiful.
