A guild is a private forum that is run by regular members of the Gaia Online community. A guild can be about whatever it is you want: a specific interest, goal, or a specific community of Gaians. In this case, we fit into two of those: we have a specific interest that happens to be our goal (which is to have fun while helping newbies out).

It's a place for like-minded people to gather together for a common purpose.
Examples: The NTSG's members are newbies and those who want to help newbies.
A Kingdom Hearts guild would probably have RPs and lots of discussion of KH.
They are basically smaller groups within Gaia that can give you more of a sense of belonging and connectedness. I have found them helpful as I have a lot of interests. Not everyone wants to be in a guild, which is fine. They might have favorite threads in Barton Town or Chatterbox to hang out in, or eschew posting entirely and visit Gaia for the games and events.
