The Master's Style (Lord Gandalfr)

Lord Gandalfr the Beserker:

The brute named Lord Gandalfr was a harsh teacher the last time you met him, wasn't he? Well he hasn't changed much since then. He's strength and history may come as a mystery to some, what makes a normal human so powerful and why is his rage feared so much.

It is true that Lord Gandalfr has trained hard over the many years, but no amount of training could give him such inhuman strength and chaotic rage. So how does he do it? And how do his students gain the some power? Well the secret is a potion he discovered long ago called "Bluster Elixer". This elixer promotes muscle growth over time to those who drink it, think of it as a one shot, long term, protien shake, just ten times better. Another effect from this elixer is the gift it grants those who consume it. It also gives the consumer an ability called "Ire", which main effect only activates when one is in extreme danger and about to kick the bucket. Once it fully triggers the consumer is filled with extreme blind rage and their power explodes, slighty more than double their natural strength. Though it is possible to activate the effects in mild form, which is what beserkers do, use rage in their fighting style which you will learn how to do this later on.

Anywho, your task is to collect a variety of items to make the elixer. First you must journey to Lake of Rage in the Johto region. Once there enter the forest surrounded it, careful though, the woods here of filled with angry Pokemon such as Ursaring, Primape, and the like. Once in the first you must search for a spring in the woods. This spring's water comes from the Lake of Rage its self, but there is something bizzarre about it. The water of the spring is red and has some of the same effects as Lord Gandalfr's elixer, something filters the water as it passes under the ground and gives it its red color and effects, but no one is sure what. Regardless, what this water does once consumed is puts those who drank it into a wild rage, making their strength go crazy from the sheer fact that they no longer have any regard for what happens to them. Be careful when collecting the water of the spring with the bottle provided, the Pokemon around won't take kindly to tresspassers.

Once you get the water journey back to the lake, here you will get your next item. You must take a scale from the Red Gyarados that lives in the lake. How can you take on such a beast? You must drink some of the red water and put yourself in an enraged state. It will be your only chance to survive in battle against this beast since you are not allowed to use any Pokemon other than your partner. In your enraged state not only will you be in a fierce battle against the lake dragon but you will also be in battle with yourself, trying to hold onto your sense of self and not completely give into the rage. Once you get the scale have your Pokemon get you out of there, an easy way for them to snap you out of it is by inhaling Energy Powder, Lord Gandalfr will provide you with some.

After collecting the water and the scale return to Lord Gandalfr and give him the items. He will make you the Bluster Elixer and have you drink it. You will be thrown into a wild rage unlike any other. You must fight yourself (metaphor) and fight the rage. If you can break yourself out of the rage by sheer will you will be endowed with the passive skill Ire, and once you do you will have passed Lord Gandalfr's intermediate course.

Objectives:
---Return to your master's school from last time.
---Complete the task your master provided you with.
---Pass their intermediate course.

Opposition:
---Any Pokemon or enemies you encounter during your task.

Obtainable Pokemon:
---None.

Restrictions:
---You may only take one Pokemon, your most loyal and faithful Pokemon.

Rewards:
---A new Passive Ability.
---The rest varies.

With his wounds finally healed well, Eddie is back in the training room, fighting off some holograms with little trouble. "Stupid AIs." he says, then turns the holograms off after beating the last one. "Eh, this is getting boring." he says. He sits down on a bench and starts fiddling with his SNAG. "I wonder if I will be able to take the intermediate course in Lord Gandalfr's training?"

He shuffles through files, going into the special missions, going through the swordsman missions and sees the next one. "Hmm..." he mumbles while reading. He reads for about three minutes and finishes. "Woah. So I'm gonna fight the Red Gyrados in the Lake of Rage, while I'm enraged." he states. "That's gonna be...AWESOME!" he yells, then bursts out of the training room doors and into the main room.

"So one pokemon, that I can put my life into its hands, huh?" Eddie asks himself, looking through his pokeballs. "Well, Rhydon is good for defense, but I don't know if he trusts me yet. I use Kabutops a lot, but he doesn't have hands..." he debates. He then comes to a conclusion. "Okay, I'm gonna choose Sceptile."

Once he has Sceptile's pokeball, he grabs Skarmory's pokeball for transportation and walks out of the HQ, the doors being pushed out of the way by two fingers. "Okay, first, I have to see Lord Gandalfr, so I can get that stuff to knock me out of the enraged state I'll be in." he says. He releases Skarmory and hops on it. "Okay, let's go to Stark Mountain!" he says, enthusiasm abound in his voice.

After a long and boring ride in the sky, Eddie and his skarmory land at the base of Stark Mountain. "Man, it seems like just yesterday, I was here with half a broken body and bloodied appendages." he says. He returns the Skarmory and walks into the large entrance, making his way down the dark hallway. It was the same as it once was, the occasional slugma used as a light to brighten up the total darkness, and the pokemon crying at the man intruding on their home.

"Every time I come here, I get a little more claustrophobic." Eddie says, easily touching his hand to the ceiling. "If this sword were any bigger, it wouldn't fit down this hallway. Speaking of which, maybe I should unsheathe it, just in case it hits the ceiling or something." he says, then grabs the sword off his back and slides it between his belts and holds it horizontal at one side, able to carry it with one hand now. "Yeah, this feels a lot better." he says.

Eddie reaches the point where he first saw Gandalfr and smiles. "Man, these rocks. I hate those things." he says, then steps back and rushes forward, jumping into the large pit. Using the falling velocity to his advantage, he puts the Zweihander vertically above his head with one hand, then he takes both hands and brings it down onto a boulder, the sword going through it easily, splitting it in half. He braces the impact by letting himself fall all the way to his knees and he rolls, the sword going in all sorts of directions. "That's what I'm talking about." he says.

Eddie stands up and dusts himself off, then walks to the darkened hallway. The total black against the auburn wall made it easy to find. "Okay, let's go." he says, then walks through the wall of black, making his way into another claustrophobic tunnel, but this time he is accompanied by torches that light up the cave, instead of fire pokemon like slugma. "Lord Gandalfr?" he calls out. "Where are you?"

Eddie reaches a small room, adjacent from the medical room that he spent a bit of time in while he was banged up from the training that Gandalfr put him through. Gandalfr was nowhere to be found. "Hmm..." he mumbles, then goes over to the med room and out the bright entrance to the outside. "Maybe he's training?" he asks, then starts walking up the side of the mountain. "Man, this is such a long climb. He'd better be up there, or I'm gonna be angry." he says, keeping his pace steady.

A shadow makes its way through Eddie's catching his attention. He immediately looks up in response, seeing a Machamp flying through the air and towards the forest. "...Yeah, he's definitely training up there." he says. He breaks into a sprint and quickly makes his way up the mountain, and stops right before the top, poking his head to watch what was going on. Ten Machamps, all quad wielding Zweihanders.

"Jeeze!" Eddie says to himself, still watching, and remembering his encounter with ONE of those things.

Even though he doesn't show it, Gandalfr seems to be in pain, having to endure the slashes of many Machamps and their zweihanders. Gandalfr's Zweihander is huge, and being wielded with only one hand, and he's blocking a majority of the attacks. All of the sudden, another sword goes through Gandalfr's flesh, making him grunt and fall to a knee. He keeps his sword above him to block oncoming swords.

Gandalfr stands up and swings his sword in a circle, knocking all of the Machamps back, even though they all guarded the attack with their own swords. He then slams himself off the ground with his powerful legs and slams his shoulder into a Machamp, sending it into the forest below. He swings his sword into another, making it launch off like a cannon ball fired out of a cannon. Before the others have time to react, he already has propelled himself into another, knocking it into the air.

Eddie watches in awe. "He's using his strength to create speed, and use that speed to generate more power. Incredible." he says.

After a few minutes of blood, clanging and swinging of swords, Gandalfr has emerged victorious, sporting some large cuts, and bleeding. He walks over to where Eddie is, he body seeming cumbersome. "That...is the pinnacle of the berserker swordsmanship." he says. "You'll be able to take down the toughest opponents, just by using a technique called Ire." he says, then starts walking to the med room.

Eddie tilts his head at Gandalfr. "Ire, what's that?" he asks. Just from seeing that in action would make him ask what it was. The pinnacle of berserker sword technique.

Gandalfr keeps walking, but starts explaining it. "Ire is an ability that rests inside your body, it gives you a big boost of strength, something like you've never experienced before." he explains. "But it comes at a cost. You have to be close to death, and that's the only time it will activate." he says. "And you have to go through a rigorous test in order to obtain the ability."

Eddie listens intently until the end and his eyes open wide, his mouth doing the same. "Wow, that...sounds pretty awesome." he says. "So, what is this test that I have to do to obtain this ability?" he asks.

Gandalfr makes it into the med room and lays down on the bed before answering Eddie. "First, you go to the lake of rage. In the forest surrounding it, there is a small body of water. The water there is pure red. Get a bottle of this stuff and go to the large lake of rage, with the Red Gyarados. Drink the water and engage the Gyarados in a fight. You can only use yourself and your sword. You MUST get a scale off of it." he starts. He gives Eddie a bottle of powder and continues. "After you get the scale, have your trusted pokemon make you inhale this. This powder will calm you from the rage, so you won't end up hurting your pokemon in the process, and get your rational thinking again. Once you bring me the ingredients, I'll be able to make a concoction for you, called the Bluster Elixir, which will have the same effect as the red water, but there is no way to stop it, only by quelling it with your own mind. If you can't control yourself, I"ll have to strike you down until you are pretty much dead. But if you can overcome this, you'll have the ability of Ire."

After this long explanation, Eddie just gives a nod and pockets the powder. "Okay. I'll be back." he says.

Eddie exits the med room and looks around on the side of the mountain. "Wow...this is gonna be fun." he says, then releases his Skarmory, then mounts it. "Okay, we're going to the lake of rage!" he calls out. The two take off to the air, making good speed in the air, and making the time go quicker to the Lake of Rage.

Gandalfr lies on the bed and sighs. "I forgot to tell him that he's gonna be fighting some pretty tough pokemon in that forest. He might get mauled to pieces." he says. "Oh well."

Eddie lands right in front of the forest, returning his Skarmory and landing on both feet. "Okay, gotta let out Sceptile here." he says, then releases Sceptile. He keeps the bottle in his pocket for now, ready to give it to Sceptile when he needs to. "So, we just need to find the Red lake thing in this forest." he says to Sceptile, then takes the first step into the forest, then keeps going, the light slowly fading from the sky, and the canopy blocking it out. "I just hope we didn't start on the wrong side."
PostPosted: Tue Apr 07, 2009 4:31 pm

Eddie walks through the forest, knocking branches out of the way with his sword, Sceptile doing the same with its arm blades. "Well this shouldn't be that hard, right?" he asks, keeping on with the walking and cutting. It was all going smoothly until there was a roar. Apparently, along their path of breaking, a combee hive fell into an Ursaring den, causing trouble. Now, there were three Ursaring coming coming out of a cave somewhat close to Eddie and Sceptile. "Sceptile, use flash to light up this place." he says. Sceptile nods and the buds on his back started to light up, letting out a bright light that showed everything. The wurmple, caterpie, and weedle on the ground, and the bloodthirsty Ursaring coming at him.

"Sceptile, Sunny day!" Eddie calls, then jumps at one of the bears and slashes a line through the circle on its chest. He then punches it in the face. Meanwhile, Sceptile has already let the Sun shoot out of its back and creates a false one in under the forest's canopy. "Solarbeam." he says, then is slashed in the face, only one claw making contact with his face. One drop of blood drops off his cheek and stains the ground below him. "Oh, you didn't just mess up my face." he says, then grabs his Zweihander tightly and swings it with one hand, smacking the Ursaring senseless and it falls to the ground. Sceptile lets out a beam and knocks the Ursaring into next week.

Eddie watches the last one come for him and he scowls, then throws his sword through the Ursaring, making it fall to the ground, and the sword sticking out of the ground. "a**." he says, then wipes off his cheek and grabs his sword. "I'm pissed now." The two press on.

"Ugh...we've been walking around this forest for hours. I think we started on the wrong side. Well, at least we're getting close. I think" Eddie says, continuing his walk around the Lake of Rage. "Maybe I should get on Skarmory and get the bird's eye view of this place." he says, then notices a glow of red in the sea of green. "Can it be?" he asks, then runs through the forest, the green fading away and the red becoming more dominant. He keeps running until he sees the large pool of red. "Yes..." he says.

Though, his success would be short lived, because there were a few pokemon that didn't want him to get close to the pool. An Ursaring, a Foretress, Tangrowth, and a Crobat, all with a slight tint of red. "Oh...these pokemon have had some of this water...I'm guessing." he says.

Eddie looks at the enraged pokemon and takes a gulp. "I guess Gandalfr forgot to tell me something." he says, still keeping his hand on his Zweihander. "Well I guess I'm gonna have to fight my way through these things?" he asks, then looks at his Sceptile. "Take this. I'm gonna need it after I fight these things." he says, then hands Sceptile the bottle of energy powder.

Eddie runs at the pokemon, and they brace themselves, ready to destroy him as a counter, but are surprised when he jumps into the pool and ingests some of the water. The pokemon rush at Eddie, their sense gone, as well as his. He flies out of the water and slashes at the pokemon, with one hand, and creates enough force to push some of the pokemon back with just the force alone. He uses this chance to propel himself at the Ursaring and knee it in the face, then flips around and kicks the Crobat down. He lands on the Foretress, but is spun around violently and thrown into a tree, knocking it down. He slices through the trunk and lifts part of the tree up and throws it at the Crobat getting back up. He's ready to rumble.
